Quarantine...in love!
Naruko was sitting on the couch, eating her popcorn completely relaxed as she watched her favorite tv show on Netflix. She was wearing her most comfortable clothes, and her blonde hair was tied up in a messy bun on top of her head as she snuggled in her perfectly soft orange blanket. She looked like a hermit, but she didn't care, her best friend and roommate Sakura had ditched her to go on a date with her annoying boyfriend. Not that Naruko envied her, not at all. She was single and completely happy, her cat Kurama, was the only company she needed. Even if he was completely ignoring her at the moment, laying on the carpet and pretending he didn't hear her calls to come and snuggle with her. "Stupid cat" she muttered under her breath, pouting at the fat orange feline that was pretending she didn't exist. As usual.
She didn't even know how long she had been lying there peacefully and didn't even know what time it was anymore, her eyes felt heavy, and she was just about to fall asleep on the couch, as the door slammed open, and a panicked Sakura came into view, shaking her by the shoulders in an attempt to wake her up, ignoring that Naruko was in fact, awake and staring at her with her wide blue eyes.
"Naruko! wake up! it's important!" she shook her so hard, the blonde was starting to feel sick.
"Sakura stop it damn it! I am awake!"
The pink-haired girl stared at her with her green eyes, not bothering to apologize, she stood and took her warm blanket off of her, making the blonde girl shiver and shout out in protest.
"What the hell! I was relaxing if you don't mind! I have class and work tomorrow!" she heard Sasuke snort behind Sakura and she stuck her tongue out at the annoying teme, who also happened to be her best friend. Yeah… she really didn't like to admit it, he was so irritating.
Sakura ignored her protests and looked at her with crazed eyes that made Naruko wonder if she had finally gone crazy.
"No, you don't! No more work! No more school! Do you realize what's happening?"
Naruko looked up at her friend still hazy from her nap.
"We won the lottery?"
Her blue eyes held a glimmer of hope, and Sakura almost felt bad crushing her dreams. Almost. Sasuke on the other hand, had a diabolical expression on his perfect face that didn't hold a pinch of remorse.
"No you idiot! haven't you heard about the Coronavirus? Seriously dobe, where do you live?""
He snatched the remote from her hands and turned on the news. It was concerning that she was so oblivious to something so important.
Naruko groaned in protest, why was everyone being so mean to her? she was just trying to have a relaxing afternoon! She deserved it after having worked so hard to graduate in time with all her friends.
"The what?" she grabbed a pillow as she listened to the news about this new virus that was concerning the whole world. The news had been talking about it for days all over the place and she remembered Sakura mentioning something about it, but she didn't realize it was going to be that bad, that they would be put into quarantine, damn it!
"Oh, I think I heard someone at school talking about it the other day" she mused, scratching the top of her head in a way that didn't really make her look smart.
"You think? Everyone has been talking about it!"
Sasuke rolled his eyes, and Sakura, took over, blocking the tv with her body, staring down at the confused blonde.
"Lady Tsunade has put the whole city on lockdown starting 9 pm tonight. You should have received an email from school and work to inform you that everything is being closed and that lessons are going to be online from now on" She took out her phone to show her friend the email she probably should have read by now. She leaned towards the end of the couch where her cell phone was located, and picked it up, noticing all the missed calls and messages from all her friends and relatives. It felt like the apocalypse had exploded while she was resting.
She stared at her phone and battled her eyelashes in confusion, she was having a hard time figuring everything out, then she realized what Sakura had just said.
" Wait a minute...Lock...down? what do you mean? that we can't go out anymore?"
Sasuke slapped his hand on his face and Sakura simply sighed. Why was the blonde such a knucklehead?
"Yeah, that's pretty much it"
"It's to stop the spread of the disease, so it's very important that everyone respects it." Explained Sakura, as she walked around the room, starting to pick up some random things, as if she was getting ready to pack.
Naruko was still for a second, and then started to panic. She stood from the couch, forgetting that her legs were tangled in the covers and almost falling head face-first on the hard floor. When she finally managed to free herself, she ran to the fridge like a made woman, letting out a loud screech that made even Kurama flinch.
"So...what are you guys doing here? We should go to the supermarket and buy food! Our fridge is empty! We don't have anything, and all the instant ramen is gone! I have to buy cat food for Kurama! You know how much that cat eats! Why are you just staring at me?"
The pink-haired girl just sighed, letting out a little laugh.
"Me and Sasuke went to the store as soon as we heard, and we bought everything that we need. You just need to pack your bags, we are going to spend the quarantine at Sasuke's place"
Naruko stopped fidgeting and looked at both of them with a blank stare. The Uchiha moved closer and snapped his fingers in front of the girl's face.
"Dobe? are you still with us?"
Naruko blinked a couple of times and sat down on a nearby chair, taking all the information in.
"Quarantine together...at the teme's house? but...why?" she asked looking at Sakura that stared at her as if she had grown another head. Who had exactly decided this? And why was she forced to share a house with the annoying asshole? she was going to kill him by the end this whole thing finished.
"Sasuke's house is huge! He has a pool and a backyard and videogames! Why should we spend quarantine in our two-bedroom apartment with barely any space to live? Plus aren't you forgetting that we are not going to be working, so there's no way we can afford the rent?"
Naruko thought about that, but she still didn't understand why she had to suffer and live with the teme, plus, there was just a little detail that they both seemed to be forgetting. Sasuke shared a house with his older brother, who was probably unaware of their plans.
"But...what about...Itachi? Is he going to be okay with the arrangement?"
She fiddled with her fingers trying to hide her growing blush. Just the thought of sharing a house with her not so secret crush made her knees feel weak. Good thing she was sitting.
"Hn… he was the one that offered" Sasuke scrolled his shoulders, oblivious to Naruko's reaction while Sakura smiled knowingly at the girl.
"He...he did?"
She started to feel hot and Sakura shook her head, covering her mouth as she chuckled, walking behind the blushing blonde, pushing her by the shoulders directing her to her room.
"Yes, now go pack"
She turned to Sasuke who rolled his eyes at his ecstatic girlfriend.
"Wasn't that hard to convince her!"
"I just hope this was a good idea"
Author's notes
Hello everyone! I know these are hard times we are living, and I hope everyone is doing their best to stay safe and healthy! I decided to post this little short story with the intentions of lifting up everyone's spirits during this difficult situation, if I managed to make anyone smile and forget their troubles even if only for five minutes, I'll be happy.
This is only the first chapter obviously, but I plan this to be a short story maybe with just a few chapters. I will be updating Road to Perdition soon I am currently working on it, and I'm also working on a remake of "One of the Boys" so if you're interested in reading a revamped and hopefully improved story, watch out for it, it's going to be coming soon.
Stay safe, and God bless you all!
