Shenanigans-An NCIS Story
"Come on McGee-it could happen!"
Tony DiNozzo winced at the tone from the voice of the new agent, one Sara Merin, who was once again arguing with Tim McGee over something trivial. Seemed to be a daily occurrence with her. As far as the senior agent could tell, it was over a character the girl had created for something. DiNozzo wandered over to the only other agent's desk, Ellie Bishop sighing as she held out the popcorn. "I warned him not to open his mouth," she muttered. "It's like a car crash-you can't look away."
"If you think a Klingon would make the cub family..." they heard him say and Ellie groaned. "And McGee is now done for." she said, Tony grinning like a madman as the red-haired agentess lit into the techno-geek, noticing Abby, Ducky and Palmer watching from the far end of the squad room and Leon Vance watching from above with his coffee. It was at that moment Gibbs came off the elevator, staring at the fracas before walking over to the director who held out a second cup of coffee. "So what's today's rant?" he asked quietly, sipping his coffee.
"Something related to Star Trek," came the reply. "A character Sara came up with in her spare time that McGee said couldn't happen. The whole office is taking bets on this one-on what she'll do to him over it." Vance grinned, remembering the one she had with Tony over movies and the fact she had knocked him out and tried to hang him from the flagpole-managing to give him an insane wedgie just as Tobias Fornell was walking toward the building.
~Flashback~
"Jethro, what the hell is going on outside with your agents?!" Fornell had fairly yelled as he got off the elevator, spotting the man he was looking for staring calmly out the window at the madness outside. "You have your newest agent out there giving DiNozzo a mega-wedgie!"
"Nah Tobias," Gibbs said, grinning. "Sara's trying to string DiNozzo up the flagpole-it's just not..."
He broke off as there was a yelp outside, something multicolored being strung up the flagpole and causing him to smirk, the young agent sprinting for the building with Tony limping behind her yelling. "Huh, always took DiNozzo for a 'briefs' kind of guy."
The FBI agent stared as Sara got off the elevator and ran past them, making a beeline for the stairs on the other side and clearly heading down to Abby's Lab the back way as DiNozzo hobbled in before shaking his head. "Must have been some argument if you pissed her off that bad DiNozzo." He said, grinning slightly at the other's pain as something came flying through the air, both of them getting splashed by a water balloon. At that point Fornell had chased after her all the way to Abby's Lab, finding himself laughing as he caught the video playing of the argument.
~End Flashback~
Said FBI agent now got off the elevator, making some comment about that day which caused Tony to jump and move away. Right into Sara and knocking her over, just as he knew would happen. "Hey Sara, you get that present I sent you?" Fornell called as he walked up to Gibbs and Vance, the girl grinning as she got up and went over to her desk, lifting up a large metal frying pan and turning to the pair while casually tapping the bottom against her palm. McGee and DiNozzo gulped, going pale as she slowly walked towards them before running off with her following, pan held high.
"Guess that means I win the pool." Gibbs said casually. "Money. My desk. End of day."
There was grumbling as the FBI agent leaned over. "You know you owe me some of that Jethro." He said quietly, the other grinning as there was yelping and they glanced out the window, two pairs of underwear flying on the flagpole.
The director shook his head, suddenly realizing something and speaking up. "Miss Sciuto," he said, "I would like a copy of this-including the footage from outside."
He watched Sara rush back in, sprinting past as Fornell joined her. "I'll make sure you get that footage Leon." He said, running after and laughing for the first time in a while, the pair discussing other pranks they could do as Tony and McGee came back in, sitting down.
"That was low..." the former grumbled. "He knew I would run into her."
McGee winced. "Why do I get the feeling something bad is going to happen?"
"Nah, Sara wouldn't...touch Gibbs' coffee."
"Oh really Agent DiNozzo?" Vance asked, looking at him. "I'll take that bet."
~Timeskip~
Later that day Sara and Fornell had it all set up, waiting outside the Director's office with the fire hose, a pile of flour and a fan. It was good the director's secretary Pamela had already left for the day-no point in getting anyone else in trouble. "And they say there's no inter-agency cooperation," the FBI agent quipped softly, his cohort grinning as the door opened before dousing him with water, the other turning on the fan and letting the flour blow all over him before they took off, Vance stood there stunned before stepping out into the hall, the rest of the Major Case Response Team staring in wonder. "Well," the director said calmly. "It seems NCIS and the FBI have finally learned to work together. Remind me not to leave those two alone anymore-they're dangerous as a team."
Gibbs just shook his head, Elle gaping at the director. "She was known for her pranks sir...she always went big-both in size of prank and target." She pointed to Sara's desk. "She left you clothes to change into however."
"Makes me wonder what Ziva would have done had she been pranked." DiNozzo said, McGee glaring at him. "Our underwear is still on the flagpole Tony and you're fantasizing about two women fighting." He sighed. "That's just typical."
"You want to go Elf Lord?" the other spat back, the ensuing argument leading to a brawl that the pranksters took advantage of, a large water and flour bomb hitting the two of them. Gibbs got up, glancing down at the flour in his coffee cup before looking at the pair, Sara swearing. "BOOK IT!" she screamed, sprinting for the stairs alongside Fornell with her boss walking after them.
"I believe I win the bet," Vance said. "You said she wouldn't touch his coffee-she has, even though she didn't mean to."
He walked off with the bag of clothes under one arm, heading to change as the two agents stared. "We get pranked and the Director got pranked..." McGee said. "Why didn't you get pranked Ellie?"
"Because she knows I prank back?" Bishop grinned as she spoke. "Seriously guys, don't try and prank her back, or she WILL find a way to string you up on the flagpole. I'm just surprised Fornell became her partner in all this.
"Man needed a hobby," a voice said, Gibbs coming over with a fresh cup of coffee. "I'm just waiting to see if he starts pranking people over at the FBI."
There was a groan, Ducky coming over with a golf ball in hand. "Sara will be lucky if she ever makes it out of Autopsy again." He said. "At least while alive, that is. Filling one of my cupboards with golf balls is humorous and all, but still..."
Bishop facepalmed. "Oh please tell me she didn't do the pie gag on Jimmy?" came the question.
"No, he fell asleep and she and Fornell snuck in...whipped cream and feather. Only person left is Abby..."
"Oh no...that's going to be bad-one of the pranks she pulled was a baking soda and vinegar bomb with an audio recording of an explosion."
As she spoke, they heard a scream, the screen clicking on to reveal Abby covered in baking soda and vinegar, cringing as an audio file played. "Where are they?!" the Goth half-yelled before giggling. "Seriously, I need to learn that trick. Don't worry Gibbs-she made sure to direct it where it wouldn't hit anything."
Elle sighed. "If you guys want to try and prank her back, go ahead-just leave me out of it." She got up, grabbing her jacket and heading out as Leroy Jethro Gibbs sighed, "Had Ziva gotten nailed, I think we would be in trouble." He said finally. "Those two would be constantly going at one another."
"Never-ending prank war," Tony mused. "Like that couple on the web."
~Several days later~
"Hey," Gibbs called. "Anyone see Merin today?"
"No Boss," DiNozzo said as Vance appeared at the top of the stairs.
"I need everyone in MTAC now." He said, the group heading up and inside, camera feeds in the FBI building showing. "Oh gods..." Abby said as she entered. "Gibbs you were right."
"Boss, Sara's phone is pinging from that building." McGee said. "But who could they be targeting?"
"This is Fornell leading the charge," Gibbs replied. "And isn't Marrow there today?"
Ducky blinked. "That old rivalry again..." He groaned as he sat down. "It really boggles the mind."
"He's still pissed about that deal with Air Force One..."
McGee finally found the pair on the camera, noticing Sara hanging back and covertly giving the thumbs-up sign. "Oh you're kidding-she's going to fall back at the last minute."
"Mark of a prankster Tim." Elle said, grinning as her friend put something on the floor. "Always have an exit strategy."
They watched Fornell use a slingshot to fire one of Sara's water and flour balloons, nailing Marrow and several others before turning to flee, spotting the agent and running towards her only to stop and fall flat on his face, her camera out and recording before she disappeared down the stairwell as she made a call, McGee patching it through. "You know Fornell is going to kill you Sara." Gibbs said, hearing giggling.
"Do you honestly think I would be stupid enough to remain in sight while Fornell took his shot at the former director of NCIS?" came the question, Sara sprinting for her car she left in the lot the night before and heading back. "Like you said-he needed a hobby. McGee-how bad is it in there?"
"Um...the fact they all have those..." the M.I.T. grad stared with an open mouth. "You double-crossed Fornell!"
"No kidding McGee...Director Marrow was good enough to give me a lift home after I left my car in the lot for the information and I decided to offer my 'services'. Come on-Tobias has been a thorn in his side for years." She glanced out her car window and stopped, turning on the cam and aiming it. "No way...you guys getting this?!"
The group in MTAC stared at what appeared to be a flour-paste-and-feathered Tobias Fornell running towards her car in his socks with several agents and Marrow himself following, slowly backing away from the group while still recording, hearing the man yell something and rolled down her window, leaning out. "Problem Tobias?"
"You set me up you little brat!" he yelled as she plucked something from the seat and flung it, Abby grinning at the screen as Fornell picked up the item, the top popping off and spraying him in the face. "And that is why you don't mix soda and Mentos..." she said. "You might want to get out of there Sara!"
The agent backed up and spun the car before speeding off, heading back home.
~Timeskip~
Later that night Sara sat at her desk watching the video again, having spliced everything together. "Inter-agency cooperation," she heard Gibbs say, looking up and watching him walk over to look at the screen. "The press conference was a set-up, wasn't it?"
"I knew Fornell wanted payback for any slights against Marrow from his NCIS days..." The elevator dinged as she continued. "The Director set it all up and our unlucky FBI agent..."
"Is going to kill you!" a voice screamed, said FBI agent storming in. "Where are you Sara?! It's all over the news!"
The young agent blinked, turning on the screen behind her and staring. "That wasn't my doing Tobias-I think that's Marrow getting a parting shot in."
"Great," Fornell grumbled. "Pranked not ONLY by NCIS, but my own agency AND Homeland Security..."
"You think that's bad huh?" Sara gave an evil grin. "I hear there's an NSA branch whose director got so pissed at one of her employees she dressed him in skimpy drag." She grabbed the clicker and pressed it, watching the pic a 'friend' sent pop up on screen, DiNozzo walking over and whistling. "Who's the hot chick?" he asked, sipping his coffee."
"Male NSA employee that pissed off his boss apparently." The FBI agent said, watching the other agent spit out his coffee and grinning before turning back. "You know them, don't you?"
Sara leaned back after turning the news back on, hearing her co-worker start choking at the sight. "I don't kiss and tell Tobias, unlike you and Gibbs."
The two older men looked at each other for a moment before turning back, the only evidence of where the young agent went being the door to the stairwell heading to Abby's Lab shutting. "How does she do that?" Fornell asked.
"When you prank people Tobias," Gibbs intoned, sipping his coffee. "You have to learn how to get away fast." He walked leisurely to the elevator, waiting for it and stepping in when it arrived, heading home.
