"It's been awhile. Subway's gotta be clear of the city by now."

"Along with your hot date."

Alan and Sara laughed at Carlos' expense much to the man's embarrassment.

"Nah. She's not like that." Carlos unconsciously smiled "Hell, she's not like anybody."

"Heh. Would you get a load of this dude. He sounds like a teenager with a crush. Ain't that cute?" Sara joked.

Tyrell chuckled as he opened the door of R.P.D West Gate. He walked inside, followed by Sara and Alan who walked backwards as he faced Carlos with a teasing smirk.

"She ain't wrong, man. Maybe we should've let you stay on the train with her."

"You guys are assholes."

"Aw. Would you look at that. He's blushing."

Carlos sighed in frustration before punching the former cop in the shoulder. Alan chuckled in return and turned around only for his expression to fall into at the sight of the graves on the lawn. Carlos saw this change in mood and placed his hand on Alan's shoulder.

"Hey. You alright?"

The former cop shook his head.

"Let's... Let's just go."

Alan shrugged off Carlos' hand and briskly walked past the other two U.B.C.S mercenaries. He was about to walk down the stairs when he heard someone familiar and looked towards the Main Entrance of the station to see Lieutenant Marvin Branagh pointing his gun at a zombified Brad Vickers.

"Brad. Stop!" Marvin warned but the thing that used to be Brad still limped towards him "C'mon, man. Not you too!"

Marvin shot Brad in the knee and the S.T.A.R.S pilot fell on one knee before Marvin aimed his pistol at Brad's head.

"Sorry."

Brad looked up at Marvin.

"Sor... ry."

Marvin was about to pull the trigger but stopped at the last minute when the zombified Brad actually spoke. Unfortunately, this proved to be a fatal mistake as Brad lunged at the surprised cop before pinning him to the ground and proceeding to sink his teeth down on Marvin's abdomen. The officer screamed in pain and dropped his pistol then tried to push Brad off of him but the man was heavy.

"Marv!"

Suddenly, someone kicked Brad off of him before another person helped him sit up. Marvin heard the series of gunshots and saw three men shooting Brad down before looking to his right to see a woman looking over his wound.

"Jesus. Bastard took a big chunk out of you. I... I'm sorry. We couldn't get to you on time."

One of the men ran over to his side and Marvin was surprised to see that it was Alan Abernathy.

"Alan?"

"Yeah. Yeah. It's me, buddy." Alan placed his hand on Marvin's shoulder before looking down at the large wound on his abdomen "Oh fuck."

He looked over to Sara with a pleading look in his eyes.

"There's gotta be something you can do."

"I can clean and bandage the wound but... that's not gonna do much."

"Fuck." Alan shook his head and looked up at Carlos and Tyrell as the two joined them while Sara went to work on cleaning Marvin's wound. "Come on. Let's get him inside. Keep us covered."

They waited for Sara to finish bandaging Marvin before Alan put the officer's right arm over his shoulder while Sara did the same to the left before Alan looked at his fellow cop.

"On three, alright? One. Two. Three!"

The two helped the officer up who let out a pained gasp. Carlos and Tyrell opened the door and went in first, checking the area for anymore zeds before giving the all-clear for the the others. Carefully, Alan and Sara helped Marvin inside and went over to the large statue in the middle of the room where there were some couches and boxes before setting him down on one of the leather couches while Tyrell went over to the laptop behind the desk with Carlos not too far behind.

"Hey." Alan placed his hand on Marvin's back "You're gonna be fine, alright. You're gonna make it."

"We both know that's a lie, Alan. I... I ain't making it."

The officer was breathing heavily and held his badaged wound in pain. Marvin looked at Alan and the former cop knew what the man was asking of him and shook his head.

"No. No. Not yet, Marv. You still got a lot of fight in you, buddy. C'mon, man."

"Maybe but for how long? How long before I end up like Brad? Taking down another officer... and infecting them."

"Goddamnit, Marv." Alan shook his head "What the hell were you even doing out there?"

"We... we were heading for the radio station to, ugh, stop the broadcast." Marvin replied.

"What broadcast?"

"Radio Station was, agh, b-broadcasting across the city that R.P.D's safe zone. It's not, Alan. We have infected... everywhere. We even had to seal off East Wing because there's too many of them over there. We can't protect civilians here." Marvin gasped in pain but continued "I went to the radio station to shut the broadcast down with others but... there were too many infected and we had to fall back. I lost Bennett and Farley on the way back. The whole city's crawling with infected."

"Shit." Alan cursed before looking back at the injured cop "Look. These U.B.C.S guys are looking for a guy named Nathaniel Bard. He's got a research for a vaccine. Do you know where he is?"

"Bard? He's holed up at the S.T.A.R.S Office before we left. You can find him there... Alan... I'm not making it." Marvin held up the gun against his head with a shaky hand and closed his eyes. The cop was about to pull the trigger but stopped himself and lowered the gun.

"I... I can't do this." He looked to Alan whose face darkened as he figured what the man was about to ask "You gotta do it, Alan. Don't let me turn into one of those things... Please."

Marvin handed Alan his pistol before lying down on the couch. Alan held the pistol with a shaking hand but steeled himself before looking at Sara.

"Tell 'em Bard's at the S.T.A.R.S Office." He motioned his head over to Marvin "Can you give us a minute?"

Sara nodded silently before making her way over to her fellow mercs just in time to hear the end of their conversation.

"So this Search and Rescue is more like 'Find and Detain'." Carlos snarked and crossed his arms before leaning back on the front desk "Right... Good to know."

"What are you guys talking about?" Sara asked.

"Bard has access to Umbrella's secrets, Parker. Our job is to keep him under our thumb." Tyrell replied before looking over at Sara "That cop say anything?"

"Yeah. He just confirmed that Brad's at the S.T.A.R.S Office."

"That's good." Tyrell then looked over his shoulder at Carlos "I'll open the shutter door at Reception for you. You can take go through West Wing and find the offi- "

He was interrupted by a gunshot and the two men moved to their weapons but Sara held up her hand and motioned for them to lower their rifles. A second later, Alan joined them with a blank look in his eyes and a pistol with a smoking barrel in his hand before turning his head to face them.

"You're here to find Bard, right? Doors leading to the second floor are locked. We could've taken the Library and go through the Lounge and just follow the corridors 'til we reach the office. But since the doors are locked, we gotta take the long way around if we wanna get to S.T.A.R.S Office. We can take the hallway down at West Wing. There's a staircase there that'll lead us to the second floor then to S.T.A.R.S Office."

Without another word, Alan placed the pistol on the front desk and made his way over to Reception. The trio of mercenaries shared a look before Carlos and Sara followed after the former cop but Carlos stopped in his tracks and looked over his shoulder to Tyrell.

"Stay here and see if you can monitor us through the cameras, T. We'll regroup here once we get Bard."

"Gotcha. I'll see what else I can dig up. Watch your six."

"Yeah. You too, man."

Carlos and Sara joined Alan as the shutter for Reception slowly lifted up and the three walked inside. There Carlos saw a white box with a card slot on it lying on a bench. He hummed to himself before taking out the ID Card he took off of the S.T.A.R.S guy outside and inserted it on the slot. A moment later, the red light turned green and the box opened to reveal rifle mags loaded with 5.56 bullets. The man smirked and looked at the ID before pocketing it.

"Knew it would come in handy."

"Guess Brad's useful after all."

Carlos grabbed the mags and handed them to Sara who proceeded to place them inside the pouches of her vest. Before they left the subway station, Sara grabbed enough ammunition for the group and filled up the pouches of her vest as well as the pouches on the back of her belt. In addition to carrying their medical supplies, Sara was also their 'Ammo Mule'. You ever run out of mags and reserves, she's got plenty of ammo for you.

The three continued and was about to open the door to the hallways of the West Wing but stopped when they heard gunshots quickly followed by screaming before silence. Alan kicked the door open and while Carlos and Sara turned on the flashlights on their vest. They made their way down the end of the corridor where they spotted the body of a dead cop sitting back on the wall. Alan and Sara crouched down next to the corpse and Alan placed his hand on the side of the corpse's head before pushing it up, revealing the large chunk of face missing from the cop's head.

"What the fuck did this?" Sara gasped.

"I don't know and I don't wanna find out."

"Uh, guys."

Alan and Sara looked to Carlos and saw hkm looking up at a second cop's body hanging on the ceiling. It was hung on a piece of metal, bent like a hook, which was protruding from the corpse's mouth. The sight reminded them of a pig carcass hung on a hook in a slaughterhouse or a freezer.

"Jesus... " Sara muttered.

"Yeah. I don't know what did this but if we keep going where we're going, we're bound to find out." Alan rose back to his feet and took point "C'mon. On me. Single file. Stay frosty. It could still be here."

The former cop held his weapon at the ready and took point. Sara followed behind while Carlos covered the rear. They moved further down the hall way slowly. Cautiously. They may be more heavily armed than those two cops but that doesn't mean whatever did this can't do the same to them. They reached an entryway with an opend door and Alan peeked the corner before moving in. He stopped when he saw the broke window. There were large claw marks on the wall close to it and the former cop lowered his weapon before turning to the others as they joined him.

"Looks like it didn't stick around." Carlos stated.

"You think it went out into the city?" Sara asked as she observed the claw marks on the wall.

"Head's up. Company!"

The trio aimed their weapons down the hall as a zombie walked out the corner before limping towards them. Alan crouched and shot the zombie in the legs while the otber two shot it in the body and the head. The zombie staggered at each bullet that hit it's body before falling backwards. They closed the distance and Alan kicked it's head to the side before raising his foot and proceeded to crush the zombie's head.

With the zombie dead, they proceeded down the hall but encountered another zombie soon after. It that crashed through the window outside and fell face first to the floor. Carlos stepped on it's back to prevent it from getting up before shooting it in the head with his gun. He heard groaning to his right and raised his rifle at the direction before seeing the heavy set zombie cop limping towards him. Before it could reach him, Alan and Sara opened fire and riddled the zombie with bullets. It fell to the side and Carlos unloaded the remaining bullets of his mag before reloading.

"Ain't this a big, warm R.P.D Welcome?"

"Tch. First day in this city and I already hate it." Sara replied "The services of this place suck."

"No arguments there."

The three shared a small laugh before entering the Operations Center. While Alan and Sara looked for anything useful, Carlos contacted Tyrell.

"T, you copy? There's something's real nasty down here but we didn't get a clear look at it. Just what it left behind."

"Something nasty? Alright, I'll take a look at the cameras. You guys watch your six."

"Will do."

Carlos opened the door out of Operations and was met with the sight of three zombies wandering the hall. One saw him and groaned before limping towards the mercenary.

"Really?"

He raised his rifle and opened fire on the closest zombie until it fell on the ground before switching targets and shooting the second zombie behind it. Unfortunately, his gun jammed and Carlos dropped it when the zombie got too close before he could fix the problem.

The U.B.C.S mercenary, rather than dodging the zombie, sent a powerful right hook that sent it sprawling to the ground. The third zombie tried to grab him but Carlos sent a one-two punch in it's abdomen before grabbing it's head and slamming it against the wall again and again until half it's head was crushed.

Unfortunately, a fourth zombie managed to sneak up on him and grab his shoulders from the back. Acting quickly, he elbowed the zombie on the gut, forcing it to let go. He turned around and grabbed the zombie by the head before running towards the vending machine and slamming it on the side of said machine. The zombie groaned as it slid down before Carlos kicked it hard. The force of the kick crushed it's head and caused the machine to spit out a can of soda. Carlos let out a sigh before bending over and picked up the can.

When Alan and Sara walked out of Operations, they saw four dead zombies and one Carlos Oliveira leaning back on the wall of the Safety Deposit Room while drinking a can of cold soda. The two walked over to him and Alan raised a brow at the mercenary who shrugged.

"What? I was thirsty."

Sara snorted while Carlos took out two more cans of soda from his pouch and tossed it at the two. For a brief reprieve, the trio simply drank their soda. Sara was the first one to finish before taking out her cigarette pack and offered a stick to the other two. Carlos declined but Alan accepted and took a cigarette before Sara handed her lighter to him after she lit hers. Minutes passed by before Alan threw the spent cigarette away and got off the wall before facing the other two.

"Alright, guys. Break's over. We gotta move."

The trio readied themselves before Alan opened the door to West Office. Inside, they found a box containing a Red Dot Sight with a written intructions, courtesy of Kendo, on how to attach it to the rifle. They encountered one crawler and quickly killed it before Alan entered the room and crouched in front if the safe. If he remembered correctly, the code for the safe was...

"9 left, 15 right and 7 left."

The safe unlocked and Alan smirked before opening it to reveal a hip pouch. The former cop grabbed it and exited the room before finding Carlos and Sara looking up at the 'WELCOME LEON' sign he helped put up.

"Carlos."

The man looked over to him and he threw the hip pouch to the mercenary's who nodded his thanks before Alan joined them.

"The rookie's lucky the guys called him off."

"Lucky him." Carlos said.

"I'm betting the guy's sitting at home. Enjoying a cold one while watching a game."

"Probably." Alan muttered "Let's get the hell outta here. You guys find anything useful?"

"Other than handgun ammo? Nothing much." Carlos replied.

"Let's bounce already."

Sara made her way out of the room and back to the hall only to see a zombie limping towards her. Wordlessly, she opened fire on the zombie's knee and shot it off. Sara walked over to the downed zombie and emptied the rest of her mag into it's head before flipping the magazine and reloading.

The other two joined her before Alan once more took point. They found the staircase leading up to the second floor but they entered the Dark Room first and scavenged for ammo before taking the stairs. The three took out a zombie bent over the railing by grabbing it by the legs and sending it over the railing to fall into the boxes in front of the Dark Room before continuing on to the second floor. Once there, they found that the corridor that would lead them to S.T.A.R.S Office was blocked off by a gate with bars and some barrels as well as boxes.

"So much for going that way."

Sara huffed before looking at the sign of the room next to her.

"Fucking finally."

The mercenary opened the door and went inside, much to the other two's confusion. Carlos and Alan looked at each other before shrugging and entered the Shower Room. Once inside, they saw Sara had taken off her gear, leaving her in her shirt, pants and boots, before heading for one of the showers.

"Uh, do I even wanna know?"

"Valentine and I have been running around sewer water because we had nowhere else to go when that big fucker was chasing us. I need this so shut the fuck up and look away." Sara walked in on the shower and turned it on before taking off her shirt and bra. Carlos turned away and started playing with the lock in one of the lockers while Alan shook his head and leaned back on one of the lockers.

"Hey, Parker. Have you ever thought that maybe the infection spread through the water?"

"Don't even start, Abernathy. I just said Valentine and I were knee deep in shit water in the sewers. If we were infected, we would've been one of those freaks hours ago."

"Alright. Alright. Just saying."

Minutes later, Sara walked out, dressed, but had a bundle in her hands. She threw it in the trash before picking up her gear and putting it on. Alan, meanwhile, got bored and opened the locker he was leaning on to see if he can find something. Carlos just finished reading the note he found on the bench and looked up just in time to see Alan about to open the locker with an infected inside.

"Alan, wait!"

His warning came too late and Alan opened the locker, letting the zombie out and falling on top of the former cop, sending the two of them on the ground.

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!"

Carlos kicked the zombie off and Sara unholstered her side arm before shooting it. Alan did the same and started unloading an entire clip onto the zombie. Once their pistols clicked and the slides locked back, Carlos helped Alan up while Sara reloaded her Samurai Edge. Alan thanked the two before retrieving his rifle and looked to Sara.

"At least I didn't drop the soap."

Sara scoffed while Carlos patted Alan in the back but the former cop found himself staring at the wall in the far end of the room. He walked over to the wall and found that a brick of C4 was planted on it. If he remembered correctly, there was another shower room on the other side of the wall and that room leads to the corridor that would lead them to S.T.A.R.S Office.

"Hey, guys. Come take a look at this."

The two mercenaries walked over and saw what the former cop was looking at.

"Guess we'll be doing this the explodey way."

Sara snorted and looked at the other merc.

"Explodey way? Really? What are you, five?"

Alan finished examining the C4 and concluded what was missing though he wondered where they can find the right part for this thing.

"It's missing a battery. A big one. We need to find the right battery if we want this thing to work."

Alan turned away and looked at the two.

"C'mon. We blow this wall up, it'll lead us to the shower room on the other side. We can bypass that blocked off gate back there and continue on to the office."

"Alright. Let's go find us a battery."

Carlos took the lead this time and Alan followed after the mercenary while Sara groaned.

"Great. How do you expect us to find a battery in a place this big? We'll be here all damn night."

~Line Break~

Carlos was making his way back to Operations and was wondering if they left something back there. He heard something on the ceiling and looked up to see a... He didn't know what it was. The thing had no skin and had a large set of claws. It had a large mouth with a set of razor sharp teeth but the upper half of it's head was just a brain or at least he thought it was it's brain but it was still alive even though he emptied half his mag on the fucker.

"Come on, dickface. Let's see what you can do."

As if it heard him, the creature opened it's mouth and a very large and very deadly tongue shot out towards him. Carlos dodged out of the way and the tongue struck the wall, leaving spider web cracks to where it impacted.

"Holy shit!"

The tongue went back to it's owner and the creature pounced. Rather than back off, Carlos instead punched the thing straight in the brain and sent it to the ground on it's back. Alan and Sara arrived and the two saw the monster before firing their weapons at it. Carlos joined them but the creature righted itself before jumping up the ceiling and tried to escape.

"Oh no you don't."

Sara took out a grenade and pulled the pin before throwing it a bit ahead of the monster. The grenade exploded a few seconds later just as the thing was on top of it. The explosion blew the creature away from the ceiling and filled it with fragmentation from the grenade before the trio unloaded every bullet inside their loaded magazines. When their rifles clicked and their mags empty, the creature writhed on the ground before becoming still as it let out it's death rattle.

The three held their breath and cautiously made their way over to the creature before Alan decided to poke it with the barrel of his gun and quickly stepped back once he did. They kept their weapons trained on the creature as they waited for any sort of movement but none came. They sighed in relief before moving on to their search for the battery. Starting with opening the Safety Deposit Room.

"I guess we found out what killed those two guys." Carlos began before calling Tyrell "T, did you see that thing?"

"See what? Where are you guys?"

"We're at the Saftey Deposit Room."

"Hang on... Damnit. Camera there's busted. All I'm getting is static."

Alan looked up to where he remembered the camera was supposed to be and saw that it was gone. Likely destroyed if that thing was running around. The former cop frowned as he thought of something. If that thing was lurking around the station, how many cops did it kill since it got here? He shook his head and focused on the mission. They need to get to Bard and see if his research on a vaccine is legitimate. Maybe they have a chance of saving this godforsaken city.

The trio entered the Saftey Deposit Room and looked at the lockers to see what was inside them. Sara moved over to Locker 104 and her eyes widened at what she saw.

"No fucking way."

"What is it?"

The mercenary stepped aside and Alan looked through Locker 104's glass. He saw the battery inside and smirked. Perfect. The former cop went over to the console and unlocked the locker before taking the battery.

"Carlos. We have what we need. We're Oscar Mike."

"Alright. Let's go blow something up."

"You read my mind."

The trio made their way back up to the showers and Alan took the detonator off the C4 before walking over to one of the sinks and attached the battery on the detonator. He then noticed that the dial for the timer was busted and the C4 will detonate to whatever timer the detonator was set. He reattached the detonator to the C4 and turned it on. When upon seeing the timer glaring at him, his eyes widened and quickly pushed Carlos and Sara behind the shower walls before the C4 exploded three seconds later. Who the fuck would set a C4 timer for three seconds!?

Their ears were ringing after the C4 exploded and they staggered out of the shower cubical. They looked back to the locker room and saw the pipe on the doorway was venting hot steams from holes on it, blocking their way back. To their front, zombies from the other side of the wall had woken up and were limping towards them. They didn't waste time in bringing up their weapons and opening fire.

"One at a time, take a number." Carlos stated through gritted teeth as the number of zombies closed in.

Thinking quickly, Sara took out a grenade and pulled the trigger before stuffing it inside the mouth of a zombie close to her. Alan saw this and kicked the zombie back towards the group of infected before the grenade exploded and killing those within the blast radius. Alan whistled at the sight and held out his fist towards Sara.

"Nice job."

The mercenary fist bumped the former cop before the three walked through the newly made hole in the wall and exited through the other side. They found themselves on a second locker room which they quickly searched for ammo. Once they were done, they left the room and continued down the corridor with Tyrell telling them that he hit q dead end with the terminal and was on his way to regroup. It wasn't long until they were in front of the S.T.A.R.S Office and Alan opened the door before walking inside.

"Doctor Bard, we're here to rescue you... Doc?"

Unfortunately, no one was there. The office was empty. No S.T.A.R.S, cops or Bard. Which just gave them a whole new set of problems. Alan sighed and took a seat on Barry's desk while Carlos walked over to a computer that was turned on and beeping. Alan noted that the computer was on Jill's desk. Sara looked around the room before heading over to the First-aid Kit on the wall and taking a First-aid Spray from inside as well as some bandages. She then walked into a room and found a report inside concerning something about a Mansion Incident as well as group photo of S.T.A.R.S. Carlos pressed a button on the keyboard, accepting the call before a window popped up with who he assumed to be Bard pacing on the background.

"Doctor Bard!"

The man looked to the screen and quickly ran over.

"Oh thank God! Do you have know how long I've been trying to reach somebody?"

"Don't worry, Doc. We're gonna get you outta there. Just tell us where you are."

"I'm trapped in the hospital. Surrounded by every kind of abomination." Bard shook his head with a frustrated sigh "Look just send S.T.A.R.S. They'll know what to do."

"That's gonna be a problem, Doc." Sara cut in as she joined Carlos "R.P.D's overrun and we had to put down the last S.T.A.R.S left in town after he infected another officer."

"Then figure it out!" The scientist replied in frustration "Umbrella's gone crazy. They're killing all the researchers."

Just then, Tyrell entered and Carlos saw this from the corner of his eye and held up a hand to stop the man from his tracks.

"I am the only one who knows how to make the vaccine to stop the zombies. So you can either sit there with your dick in your hand or send- send somebody who's capable of getting me the hell out of here!"

And just like that, the call ended. Alan shook his head and hopped off the desk.

"Ain't he a sunshine."

"I like him already." Tyrell chuckled.

"Yeah. You would." Carlos replied with a smirk before turning serious as he approached Tyrell "You heard what he said. We can't turn him over to the company."

"That's not our call to make. That's Mikhail's call." Tyrell walked past Carlos and moved to take a seat in front of the computer "I'm gonna see if I can track the Doc's location."

"He's at Spencer Memorial Hospital." Alan replied "He said he was trapped in the hospital. That's the only hospital here. As for where it is, it's close by Saint Michael's Clock Tower. Anyone got a map?"

Sara reached into one of her pouches and took out a folded up map of Raccoon City and handed it to Alan. The former cop unfolded it before setting it down on Jill's desk.

"We're here and Spencer Memorial's over there." He pointed at the station first before pointing at the hospital "It'll take a while to get there and since the city's crawling with infected, it'll take half a day to get there on foot considering how many infected there are. Find a car or maybe a truck and we can get there faster but considering how many people left their cars on the roads when shit hit the fan, there's not much room to drive a car. We have no choice but to go on foot."

"Well. You heard the man." Sara checked her weapon before looking at her fellow mercs "Let's pack it up. We got a long way to go."

Carlos nodded and walked towards the door but stopped before putting his finger on the earpiece of his headset radio.

"Yeah. What's up? Derailed?"

That stopped everybody in their tracks and looked to Carlos.

"Is everyone alright? Was anyone hurt?"

A look of horror crossed the man's face.

"Fuck. Wait what!? Jill. Jill, what happened? Jill, come in!"

"Carlos what the hell is going on?" Alan asked.

"The train derailed. Jill survived but... everybody else is dead."

Sara fell back and sat on a chair before dropping her gun and placing her head in her hands. Alan cursed and punched the wall. Tyrell shook his head and looked away.

"She said she's at the Clock Tower before... I gotta go."

Tyrell nodded in understanding.

"You do what you gotta do, man. I'm coming with you. Hospital's close to the clock tower anyway." He then turned towards Sara "You coming?"

The woman didn't reply so Alan decided to answer for her.

"You go on ahead. We'll meet you there."

"Okay. Here." Tyrell handed him a radio "Stay in contact. Just radio us if you're close to the hospital."

"Will do. Good luck you two. Watch your six."

Carlos nodded and stormed out the office, intent on getting to Jill as fast as he can with Tyrell following closely behind and trying to match the man's pace. Once the door closed, Alan walked over to Sara who still hadn't moved and crouched next to her before placing a hand on her back.

"Hey. You okay?"

Sara turned her head at Alan to reveal the tears running down her cheeks.

"What does it look like?" The woman snarked before wiping the tears away "Our mission was to get those people to safety. Instead we only ended up getting them killed. The looks on their faces when we told them about the escape plan? God. They were so scared and after finding out that there's a way out of this city. Oh God, the kids."

Sara ran a hand through her hair and Alan wrapped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her into a hug. They stayed like that for who knows how long before Alan realized Sara had fallen asleep.

Considering she never rested after what she just went through with Jill before they headed for the station where they had to fight some more, he can understand her exhaustion. Add in the news of the train getting derailed and the woman has had enough for the night.

He gently removed himself from her and placed her in a more comfortable position on the chair before walking over to the door and locking it. He then went over to carry some boxes and blocked the door before grabbing a chair and placing it next to Sara.

He took a seat and leaned back on the chair while watching the door. He didn't know how much time had passed until he himself felt exhaustion kicking in.

"Maybe just a few minutes or maybe a few hours." Alan muttered to himself before falling asleep.

Unfortunately for them, they slept almost an entire day. When the other two tried to contact them, they were too deep in their dreams or nightmares to answer, causing Carlos and Tyrell to continue on without them.

~Line Break~

When Sara finally woke up, she looked to the digital clock on the desk and saw that it was 11:53... P.M!? Sara shot up from the chair and quickly looked around her. She saw the door was blocked with some boxes and Carlos and Tyrell were nowhere in sight. She then spotted Alan who had his arms crossed while leaning back on the chair with his head down. The slow rising and falling of his chest told her the man was asleep.

"Alan. Alan, wake up!"

She placed her hand on his shoulder and the former cop suddenly grabbed her forearm and twisted her around before putting her into a sleeper hold. Sara vigorously hit his arm and managed to choke out who she was before the man abruptly let her go. She fell on all fours and took in deep gasps of air while one hand held her neck. After a few moments of regaining her breathing, she stood up and glared at Alan.

"What the fuck was that!?"

"I... I don't know. I thought... Shit. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to."

"Ugh, it's fine but what the hell was that about?"

"Sorry. Last time someone woke me up by grabbing my arm, I found myself with a gun pointed on my head and a lanky fucker trying to rob my house." Alan shook his head and looked at Sara "I'm really sorry."

"It's alright but you should know it's almost midnight."

"What are you talking about?"

Wordlessly, she grabbed the digital clock from the desk and threw it at the former cop who caught it. He looked at the device and his eyes widened at what he saw.

"Oh fuck."
