Chapter 4 - A Date to Remember

Ana's POV

"Go on a date with me," Christian blurted out.

I was so shocked, I couldn't respond. I couldn't believe he wanted to go out with me after what he witnessed last night.

Because I was unable to respond Christian babbled, "I mean like maybe dinner… or lunch… or maybe breakfast…"

Why was his nervousness so cute?! I cut him off and confidently responded, "Yes."

"What?" he said incredulously.

"Yes, I'll go on a date with you," I giggled.

He looked relieved. "For a second there, I thought you would say no."

"Who could ever say no to you," I flirted.

Christian's POV

After Ana and I finished eating, I decided to have a little fun with her.

I grabbed the bowl of whipped cream and put a dollop of it on her nose when she wasn't paying attention.

"Christian!" she admonished.

I couldn't help but laugh. When she was trying to be angry and upset, she just came off cute and adorable.

"Oh, I'm so going to get you back, Grey!" she yelled.

She snatched the bowl of whipped cream out of my hands and used a spoon to splatter it all over me.

"Haha," she teased.

I took the bowl of leftover pancake batter, and Ana knew what I was going to do with it.

She ran away from me, and I chased after her. I was much faster than her, so I caught up quickly. She still had the whipped cream in her hands, so we took turns throwing food all over the place and on each other.

When I finally had enough of being pelted by sticky cream, I declared, "Okay, okay. You win. I'm waving the white flag."

She squealed in victory and replied, "I told you not to mess with me. I can be very scary if I try."

I laughed at her statement and moved in closer to her to wipe some of the pancake batter battle scars from off her cheeks.

My face was inches from hers, much like a few days ago by my piano.

I thought about kissing her. My inner demons were screaming at me not to, but the sliver of good in me was telling me to do it.

My grey eyes intensely stared into her blue ones. There was no way around it. We were irrevocably connected. There was something here. Something more.

Her lips were trembling, begging me to kiss her, so I did, and it felt like heaven.

I wrapped my arms around her waist to bring her closer to me. Because of the height difference, she had to stand on her tip-toes. Her small hands latched onto my hair, which turned me on even more.

When Ana's lips parted, our tongues met and battled for dominance. I heard Ana let out what could only be described as a purr, and I felt it right at my groin. I thought she sensed it because she started to thrust her pelvis against me causing me to groan.

When we broke the kiss, my lips made their way to her neck. I sucked and nibbled everywhere that I could.

"Mmmmm, Christian," she moaned.

I kept on going, kissing every inch of her neck that was exposed.

"God, Christian." she trembled. "I… I… I think we should slow things down a bit," she barely got out.

Fuck. Of course Grey! She's not trying to fuck you right now. For God's sake, she was almost raped yesterday. Have some respect Grey!

My lips broke away from her neck and we were both panting.

She bit her lip, and it drove me even crazier. By now, I was sporting a very large, obvious erection. Control Grey!

We both smiled like loons at each other over what just transpired.

"I think we should get cleaned up. I'm sure Mia can lend you some of her clothes," I stated.

"Perfect," she agreed.

Ana's POV

Okay. What the hell just happened?! How did a food fight end up with the best, hottest kiss of my very short life?!

I didn't know, but I didn't care. All I knew was that I wanted more of Christian Grey.

After Mia woke up, she let me borrow some of her clothes – a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.

After getting dressed, I went back downstairs to where Christian was lounging on the couch in the living room.

"Hey, did you by any chance get my phone yesterday?" I asked.

"Shit," he replied, "I totally forgot about it. Sorry."

I sat on the couch next to him. "That's okay. Do you mind if I borrow your phone to text Kate?"

"For sure," he responded and handed me his phone from his pocket.

Thankfully, Kate and I remembered each other's phone numbers.

Ana: Hey, it's me Ana

Kate replied almost instantaneously.

Kate: OMG! ANA YOU HAVE TO CHECK YOUR SNAPCHAT NOW!

There are videos of you everywhere!

I started to nervously shake, worried about what could be on those videos.

Christian put his hand on my shoulder to calm me. "What's wrong?" he asked, concern written all over his face.

Not able to form any words, I showed him the text message Kate sent me.

He continued to rub my back to soothe me.

"This is going to be so embarrassing at school on Monday," I said with tears forming in my eyes, "Everyone's going to label me as a whore."

"You're not a whore, Ana" he pushed back, "Don't ever call yourself that again."

I melted into his arms and asked, "Do you mind if I log in to my Snapchat to see the videos?"

"Are you sure you want to do that?" he asked.

I nodded my head.

When I looked at some of the Snapchat stories from last night, I saw exactly how drunk I was.

There were videos of me stripping on a table and dancing like a whore. More tears started to form in my eyes.

"Ana, I promise you everyone is going to forget about this so fast. I also doubt most people remember what happened last night anyway because they were all so drunk."

Christian's reasoning made some sense to me, and I finally stopped hyperventilating. Christian wiped the tears running down my cheeks away.

"I don't want to see any more tears running down your beautiful face," he said.

I chuckled at his comment and said truthfully, "I don't deserve you."

He replied, "I think it's me that doesn't deserve you."

Christian's POV

Ana fell asleep on my shoulder a few minutes later. She was probably still hungover and tired from last night.

Ana's head was resting against my chest, and I would've usually freaked out, but somehow, I was perfectly content. There was no pain or burning. I only felt warmth in my heart. What was this girl doing to me?!

Mia came downstairs and saw us in the living room. She walked in and I silently pointed to Ana to inform Mia that she needed to be quiet because Ana was sleeping.

Mia looked shocked, no doubt because Ana's head was resting against my shoulder, and I was allowing it.

After her initial shock, Mia formed a heart with her hands and giggled quietly.

I rolled my eyes at her and mouthed, "Leave."

She continued to silently laugh at me and went to the kitchen for some food.

I moved some of the hair that had fallen over Ana's face and softly tucked it behind her ear.

I took a moment to survey her face. She still had some remnants of dried-up tears on her face, and I made a silent vow to never let anyone hurt this angel ever again.

Ana's POV

Crap did I just fall asleep again? Way to go Ana. I was sure Christian loved spending time with you while you were asleep.

When I woke up again, I realized I was still in Christian's strong arms.

Christian said, "Hey sleepyhead," as I yawned.

I'd love to spend all day with Christian, but I didn't want him to get tired of me.

"Do you mind taking me home?" I asked.

"Of course," he replied. "Do you want to take the Lambo?" he asked enthusiastically.

I smiled at his excitement to take me for a spin in the sports car, so I answered, "Hell yeah!"

"Christian slow down!" I screamed at him.

He chuckled at me and sped up. I had to admit, this was exhilarating.

Christian expertly weaved through the traffic on the highway and revved the engine, letting everyone know there was a Lamborghini on the road.

Since the car was a convertible, the wind was blowing my hair around in all different directions. I threw my hands up in the air and just had fun.

When Christian arrived at my apartment, I thanked him for the ride. He flashed me that charming smile of his, and my heart melted.

I started to walk into the building when I heard him shout at me, "I'll pick you up at 7."

I turned back and grinned. He started the engine and darted off, not letting me respond. I guess I'd have to get ready for a date tonight!

I raced up to my place to call Kate to tell her about my date. I then realized I need to get a new phone – like now.

I changed out of Mia's clothes and made a mental note to give these back to Christian when he picked me up tonight.

I put on a simple pair of black Rag & Bone jeans and a plain white Vince top. I also put on a pair of Gucci sneakers, grabbed my black Hermes Birken, and headed for the Apple store.

After I got my new phone, I immediately texted Kate.

Ana: It's Ana - had to get a new phone. Guess who has a date tonight?

As usual, Kate responded within seconds.

Kate: OMG, no way!

Ana: Christian asked me out!

Kate: Little virgin banana is growing up

I rolled my eyes at that comment.

Ana: I'm not having sex with him on the first date

Kate: Noted, but I'm here for pointers if you need

Ana: I'll let you know how the date goes first

Kate: ;)

I put my phone in my purse and drove home to get ready for my date.

Christian's POV

I was really excited about my date with Ana today. I didn't know what gave me the balls to basically command her into going on a date with me tonight, but somehow it happened.

When I got home, I immediately called Mia downstairs to help me implement my perfect date plan in the boathouse.

"Mia," I shouted, hoping she'd hear me from upstairs.

Either she was ignoring me or couldn't hear me, so I went upstairs to her room.

Mia was lying on her bed on FaceTime with one of her friends.

"Mia," I interrupted, "I need your help with something."

"Ugh," Mia said to her friend, "My idiot brother needs something. I'll call you back."

She hung up the phone and turned her attention to me.

"What do you want Chrissy?" she said with an attitude.

I chose to ignore her tone and said, "I have a date with Ana tonight."

Mia's mood immediately shifted and she bolted out of bed to ambush me with a hug.

Even after all these years, I still wasn't comfortable with Mia's touch, but she knew where my boundaries were.

I would say I was the most comfortable with Mia's touch. When mom and dad brought her home as a baby, I didn't talk. Mostly because I was scared and frightened.

Mia helped me get over some of my fears and the first word I ever said with Grace and Carrick was "Mia."

I would always be eternally grateful for my little sister, even though she was a handful most of the time.

After Mia was satisfied with her hug I told her, "I need your help setting up our date."

Mia jumped up and down and exclaimed, "Oh my gosh, yay! I'd love to help. What do you need me to do?"

"I just need you to handle the food for tonight's dinner," I told her, "I'll set everything else up?"

"Are you just having dinner at our house, Chrissy? That's lame!" she said judgmentally.

"No," I replied, "I'm going to set up the boathouse with more flowers and some candles during moonlight."

"Awwwww," Mia cooed, "That's so romantic. I didn't know you had it in you."

"Neither did I," I quipped.

"So," she began, "What do you want me to make?"

"Whatever you think would work. You're the chef here." I practically knew nothing about food. I just ate it.

Mia ran downstairs, presumably to the kitchen to get started on dinner. I knew she'd love to help me!

I checked the time on my phone. It was only 3, so that should give me an ample amount of time to pick up some stuff for our date and get ready.

I went downstairs and told Mia that I'd be running some errands and that I'd be back relatively soon.

She was already making a mess of the kitchen, but I knew she'd be able to produce something delicious.

I got in the G-Wagon because I'd need some trunk space for all the stuff I was about to pick up.

The first stop was the florist. This place was the one my dad always went to when he was in hot water with my mom.

I purchased a huge bouquet of red roses to give to Ana and some more bouquets of various flowers to decorate the boathouse with.

After that, I headed to Target to pick up a whole bunch of tea candles. I bought about 200 of them to light up all around the boathouse to create a romantic vibe.

I got back home at around 5, and Mia was running around the kitchen.

"What's on the menu tonight?" I asked her.

She continued to move around the kitchen and said, "Caesar salad to start. Followed by filet mignon with potato gratin and roasted vegetables as sides. And for dessert, there's going to be creme brulee with vanilla ice cream."

I was pretty impressed that Mia came up with that in such a short amount of time. "Wow, that sounds amazing," I stated.

"I know," she said, "Now get out of my kitchen. You're distracting me."

I did as I was told and went to the boathouse to set things up. I moved one of the tables and chairs from inside to the boathouse. I got the tablecloth, silverware, and china and set the table.

Once I was satisfied with how the table looked, I placed a small bunch of flowers on the table as a centerpiece.

The next step was the candles. I arranged all 200 of them around the boathouse and reminded myself to tell Mia to light them when I left to pick up Ana.

Once the boathouse was all done, it was time for me to get ready.

I ran upstairs to my room to take a quick shower. After the shower, I made sure to shave – just in case I get to kiss Ana again.

After the shower, I got dressed in a pair of dark wash jeans, a white button-down, and my favorite black leather jacket.

Ana's POV

To say I was nervous about my date with Christian was an understatement. I had no idea where he's taking me and had no idea how to dress.

I thought about texting Christian but realized I didn't have his number on my new phone.

I then decided to text Kate to see if she had it.

Ana: Do you have Christian's #

Kate: Yeah, I'll send it to you

A few seconds later I got a notification with Christian's contact information in it.

Ana: What's the dress code for tonight?

He replied a few minutes later.

Christian: Casual dressy - but not too casual

I laughed at his response and started to picture what the perfect outfit would be.

I searched my closet and decided on a sleeveless, satin white, button-up dress with a wrap-around bow by Alexis Mabille.

I also found a pair of the classic Christian Louboutin So Kate black leather heels and paired them with a black Chloe Drew bag.

Before getting dressed, I did a little heavier makeup than usual. I put on some concealer, mascara, eyeliner, and filled in my eyebrows. I finished off the look with a little nude lipgloss and called it a day.

I got dressed into the selected outfit for tonight and sent a picture to Kate.

Ana: What do you think?

Kate: My BFF is smoking hot! Christian is going to love it

Ana: Thanks for boosting my ego

I put my phone away and checked myself out in the mirror again. Damn, she was right! I did look good. Let's hope Christian was just as impressed.

It was only 6:45, so Christian should be here in about 15 minutes.

5 minutes later, Christian texted me.

Christian: I'm a little early. Come down whenever you're ready

Ana: I'm ready. Be down in a minute

Nervously, I made my way down to the street where Christian was parked right in front of the building.

When I made eye contact with him, my nerves went away, and a sense of calm rushed over me.

He was driving the Spyder and got out of the car to hand me a gorgeous bouquet of red roses. How sweet and thoughtful is this boy?!

"These are for you," he said with a bright smile.

"Thank you. You didn't have to," I replied.

He shrugged at me and said, "Of course I did. You look stunning by the way."

I blushed and replied, "You look great yourself." I asked, "Do you want to come upstairs with me to put this in a vase?"

"Sure," he answered.

Christian's POV

Ana took me upstairs to her apartment. The elevator took us up to one of the highest floors.

"Welcome to my place," she said as we walked into the apartment.

The penthouse was modern, sleek, and very feminine. There were shopping bags all over the place, reminding me of Mia's shopping addiction. It was definitely a place I'd expect Ana to live in.

"Let me get a vase for these, and we can go," she stated.

She rummaged through her cabinets and pulled out a crystal vase. I took a seat at her breakfast bar and watched her fill up the vase with tap water.

She carefully arranged the flowers in the vase and placed them on the counter.

"Where are you taking me Grey?" she asked.

"It's a surprise," I told her.

She eyed me and I chuckled at her.

We went back downstairs and got in the car on the way to my house. Mia better have lighted all those candles like I told her to!

Ana's POV

Christian and I were in his car on our way to an undisclosed location.

"Can you please tell me where we're going," I pleaded.

"A surprise is a surprise," he said, "Be patient."

Ugh, I am anything but patient. I'm sure whatever he has planned is going to be great.

10 minutes later, we were pulling into his driveway.

"Why are we at your house?" I asked.

"It's all part of the surprise," he replied.

We got out of the car, and he led me to his backyard.

Christian walked us over to the boathouse and opened the door.

Wow. This was amazing. And he did this all for me?! Ugh, swoon!

The boathouse was absolutely beautiful. There were flowers galore and beautifully lit tea lights all around a perfectly set table.

"Oh, Christian," I gushed, "This is amazing!"

"You like it?" he asked rhetorically.

"I love it. This is one of the most thoughtful things anyone has ever done for me," I replied, earnestly.

The moonlight was shining through the parts of the ceiling that were glass, and it looked like a fairytale.

Christian led us to the table and pulled out my chair for me.

Why is this the most perfect man ever?

A stunning meal was already laid out for us on the table.

"Did you cook this?" I asked in amazement. I thought he was completely helpless in the kitchen.

He laughed and replied, "Mia did. She's the chef. I just eat."

I laughed at his comment and we started to dig into the delicious food.

"Tell me more about you," Christian stated.

"What do you want to know?" I asked with a smile.

"Everything," he replied, "but let's start with your favorite color."

"Grey," I replied, and we both laughed at my answer.

"It's actually pink," I said definitively. "And yours?" I questioned.

"Hey, it's my turn to ask questions," he said jokingly.

"Alright then, ask away."

"Favorite movie?"

"Titanic."

"Favorite book?"

"Tess of the D'Urbervilles."

"Most embarrassing moment as a kid?"

"It was in third grade. We were making cardboard pumpkin cutouts for Halloween. Some snot-nosed kid spilled black paint all over my Chanel blouse."

"That's your most embarrassing moment?" he asked and laughed at the incident.

"Hey! It was traumatizing as a little kid. And Chanel does not deserve to be treated like that," I tried to say seriously, but couldn't hold back the grin.

We both laughed and he moved onto the next question. "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

"Wow, getting into some serious subjects here Grey," I teased.

He shrugged and I confidently answered, "I've always loved books. Whenever I have free time, I love to read books. I think I really want to go into publishing. Hopefully, find the next great American novel that high school kids will have to study in school someday."

"You sound really passionate about it," he commented.

"I am," I affirmed. "Maybe someday I can own my own publishing firm, but I'm getting ahead of myself now."

"It's my turn now, Grey," I declared, "You've got enough questions in."

"Okay, bossy," he replied, "Go ahead."

I started off with the same question he just asked me, "What do you want to do when you're older?"

"Oh, so we're already going to start off with the heavy stuff?"

"Yes," I quipped, "Now, answer the question."

It took him a while to come up with a response.

"I actually haven't given it much thought," he replied. Hmmm, I found that quite odd. He was practically a genius in school. I should know – I've seen his grades.

"Why is that?" I asked, "Don't most kids dream of being an adult?"

"Definitely something business-related," he stated, "Possibly mergers and acquisitions. That's what my grandfather does."

Huh? What now? Mergers and acquisitions? Sounded too complicated for me.

"Are you close to your grandfather?" I asked.

"Yeah," he replied, "I didn't always have a good relationship with my father. We're still not on the best terms. He's not a bad guy; we just don't get each other quite like my grandfather and me."

"What's his name?" I questioned.

"Theodore Trevelyan. He's my mom's dad. Best man I know," he answered.

Christian looked so happy talking about his grandfather. His smile was on full display, and my heart melted at the view.

I moved onto the next question. "What was your best memory growing up?"

Christian's mood shifted from a happy one to a more serious one in mere seconds. He started, "I didn't talk much as a kid. The Grey's adopted me when I was 4."

Adopted?! Wow, that thought never crossed my mind.

I let him continue, "Anyways, I didn't say a word until my parents brought Mia home. She was just a little baby and got me to open up. The first word I ever said with the Grey's was Mia."

What happened to this boy that caused those terrible circumstances? Why didn't he talk? Was he afraid? Did someone hurt him?

I thought about asking him those questions but decided that would be best for another time. I didn't want to sour the mood of this lovely date Christian planned.

We took turns asking each other various questions while we finished our meal.

After we finished our food Christian says, "Let me go get dessert from inside."

He came back a minute later with 2 perfect creme brulees. These were my absolute favorites!

He put one down in front of me and sat back down.

I grabbed the spoon and immediately dug in.

I closed my eyes in enjoyment and Christian commented, "You might want to slow down there."

I opened my eyes back up and gave him a glare.

He softly chuckled at me and continued eating his.

After dessert Christian said, "Come on, I have another surprise for you."

He took my hand in his and led me to the other side of the boathouse where there were blankets laid out.

"This is my favorite spot to escape from everything. I thought we could lay down here. I mean, only if you want to," he started to stammer.

I smiled at his tentativeness and replied, "I'd love to."

I slipped off my heels and Christian and I laid on our backs. Christian set up the blanket in a little nook of the boathouse. There was a skylight that allowed us to see the moon and stars.

"This is beautiful," I commented.

"Whenever I can't sleep, I come here," he said.

He had a look of pain in his eyes, so I nudged myself closer to him to comfort him.

I rested my head against the crook of his neck and looked into his eyes. Christian was still staring intensely at the stars. I softly placed my hand on his cheek and pulled his head towards mine.

Through his gaze, I sensed such pain and torment for someone so young.

"Who hurt you?" I blurted out.

"It was a long time ago, Ana," he responded.

Understanding that he didn't want to talk about it now I said, "You don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to. I just want you to know that you can always talk to me. I'll always be here for you."

He gazed into my eyes for a while longer before he crashed his lips against mine.

Without breaking the kiss, he pulled me on top of him so that I was straddling him. Instinctively, my hands latched onto his hair, and he rested his hands on my waist.

His lips tasted sweet from the creme brulee, and his strong arms wrapped around me made me feel safe and cared for.

When we finally broke the kiss, needing air, he attached his lips to my neck. He sucked on the nape of my neck, and I couldn't hold back the moans.

Christian's lips returned to mine after we'd gotten a chance to breathe, and I started to feel his erection poking me.

I boldly took the opportunity to grind on him and Christian's deep, sexy moans were definitely affecting me in very improper ways.

I felt a surge of wetness against my panties and I felt the desire start to build in my belly.

By now, I was completely lost in sensation. Any thoughts of this being our first proper date and the fact that we'd only known each other for a week were gone. I wanted him. Badly.

We both took another breath of air and rested our foreheads against one another. Instinctively, I bit my lip as we stared into each other's eyes.

"Don't bite your lip like that," he said sternly.

His eyes shifted from grey to black, no doubt due to desire.

"It makes me want to do things to you," he finished, "Things that we shouldn't be doing."

I looked directly into his eyes and asked flirtatiously, "What kind of things?"

"Don't tempt me," he replied.

Christian's POV

This little minx has captured my heart. I wanted her so bad, but I knew that now wasn't the time or place.

We hadn't known each other for long. This was our first date. If we eventually went down that road, I wanted to make it special for her. She deserved hearts and flowers.

She truly didn't know how worthy and beautiful she was. She deserved the world, and I hoped to give it to her someday.

As much as I wanted to have my wicked way with her right now, I had to let her know that sometimes having patience is better.

I felt my dick throbbing in my pants, and it took every ounce of courage in me to gently place Ana back on the blanket.

I softly kissed her cheek and whispered into her ear, "You're so beautiful."

She visibly shuddered at my comment and blushed.

I attempted to fix her hair that got a little unruly while we were making out.

"This was the best first date ever Christian," she told me.

"This was the only date I've been on," I responded truthfully.

She looked somewhat stunned at my admission and replied, "Well, I'm glad it was me. I'm sure any other girl would kill for a date like this."

"No other girl is like you," I said, definitively.

Ana's POV

After our insanely romantic and wonderful date, Christian took me back home.

I was currently sitting by my fireplace thinking about all the events that transpired in the short period of two days.

I went from almost being raped to having the best date of my life.

Christian was truly my saving grace. He was so different from anyone I'd ever met. Sometimes he could be so open and transparent, but at other times, he was an enigma. I think that's what drew me to him – aside from his looks.

Christian Grey had fully consumed my thoughts, affections, and dare I say my heart? I didn't know if it's possible to fall in love with someone after only a week, but… I couldn't deny it.

I started to yawn and headed upstairs to get ready for bed.

I took off my dress first and noticed that it smells like Christian from being so close to him all night.

I savored the smell and decided to text him.

Ana: The date was perfect. Thank you. Xx

I didn't get an immediate reply, so I placed my phone on my nightstand and went to the bathroom to prepare for bed.

Christian's POV

The date with Ana went perfectly. Thanks to Mia, Ana seemed to love dinner in the boathouse.

After I took Ana home, I had to clean up everything in the boathouse.

I blew out all the candles and cleared the table. After that was done, I saw a text from Ana.

Ana: The date was perfect. Thank you. Xx

Christian: You were the perfect date. Goodnight. Xx

I smiled and ran upstairs to my room.

I flopped down on my bed and the realization of this weekend finally hit me.

Saving Ana from that asshole who tried to rape her. Our first kiss. Asking Ana out on a date. Going on said date. Kissing Ana again.

This weekend was a whirlwind of emotions – good and bad.

In the back of my mind, I was thinking – I was in love with this girl.
