The Season's Curse
Chapter 3
Kisses traced down her slender neck as Caroline leaned into his touch wanting nothing more than to savor this moment. This was the best part of her day. Waking up to her gorgeous Klaus was always the way she wanted to spend her mornings. Unfortunately, often she found herself waking up alone in her cold and drafty room, but not today. Today her room was full of warmth. Today he was there, and nothing could have made her happier. If only it didn't have to end.
"Good morning to you too." She smiled as his hands roamed every inch of her body, his fingers resting in between her thighs.
"I could make the morning more pleasant for you if you wish."
"You're too kind, but mother is expecting me, and I can't keep her waiting."
"Surely she could wait 15 to 20 minutes, so I have time to fully ravish you." He inquired kissing her neck sending shivers down her spine.
"You obviously don't know my mother."
"Well if you allow us to properly meet than that won't be so hard to do."
"You know why we must keep our marriage a secret. My mother would never approve of my relationship to the captain of the guard."
"There is no dishonor in you being married to the captain of the guard. It's not like I'm a commoner."
"To my mother you might as well be, or have you forgotten the looks she gives you?"
"One does not forget looks so cold, but with my fair princess by my side, I can withstand even the cruelest of the queen's fates for me." He replied with a peck to her lips making her feel extra giddy.
"You always say the sweetest things."
"Of course. I need an edge over all your other suitors."
"None of them compare to you. I only entertain them for mother's sake."
"I wish you wouldn't. You know how seeing you with other men makes me jealous."
"You know how mother is. If I stop seeing other men, she will question our time together and if she finds out that we're married than she will banish you to another kingdom and render our marriage invalid. I don't want that to happen. Do you?"
"No. Of course not."
"Good because I don't want to lose you. You are by far the best part of my life and no one can ever replace you." She said giving him a kiss and getting out of her bed exposing her nakedness underneath the sheets.
"Now that is a most magnificent sight."
She smiled going to the cabinet with her finest dresses and slipping one off as Klaus got out of bed himself, dressing himself as he moved towards her and hugged her from behind.
"Take care of yourself, my dearest wife, there are ears in these walls. Nothing said here is ever safe." He gave her shoulder a gentle kiss as him himself began to dress.
"Thanks for the reminder." She replied going to her vanity to prepare her face for the day.
"Where are your ladies in waiting?"
"I gave them the day off considering next week is going to be a very big week for all of us."
"You are so generous. The world needs more princesses like you."
"No. The world needs more queens like me. Which is why I will win this challenge for my kingdom and for myself."
"That's my girl." Klaus responded with a kiss to her cheek now fully dressed. "I must go meet my men. We'll you be alright without me for a few hours? Your mother has quite the quest for me today."
"Well my mother does have her own plans for me today. We're meeting for tea now so hopefully it's nothing to strenuous."
"Well good luck with your mother love. I'll be back in two days."
"I'll be counting the minutes." She said giving him one last kiss before he left, "I love you."
"I love you too. "he said as he exited the room leaving her to her thoughts.
"It's about time you got here. What on earth took you so long?" her mother asked as Caroline sat down for her morning tea.
"Good morning to you too mother. How has your morning been so far?"
"Dreadful. The cook burned the toast yet again."
"Are you going to fire him like you did the last one?"
"I was hoping that you could help me with that."
"What did you want me to do?"
"Maybe just make him suffer a little bit."
"For burning your toast?"
"For being a nuisance."
"You know I don't use my magic for in honorable purposes."
"Can't you bend your rules just once for the woman who gave you life?"
"No."
"Fine. Be like that. There are other ways to get rid of him."
"Why do you always have to go to such extremes when you don't like someone?"
"Because that's what a queen does. You should learn so as well."
"Whatever you say." Caroline said grabbing some toast and jam. She was done with this conversation.
"Are you ready for your training today?"
"I guess."
"Why so glum?"
"Maybe I'm just dealing with a lot of stuff."
"Well maybe take a walk to clear your head. It's going to be a long couple of days and you'll need all the clarity of mind that you can get."
"I know mother and you're right. I'm going to go walk the garden to clear my mind."
"Have a nice walk dear."
"I will."
Taking in a dep breath, Caroline took in the fresh air bending down to inspect her flowers as a voice spoke from behind her.
"Nice to see you out and about my lady." Tyler said with a smile. Great. Just what she needed.
"Tyler. Pleasure to see you again."
"Is it really though?"
"I was trying to be polite."
"It's not really a good look on you."
"Did you need something Tyler? Because if not I would suggest you go before you really piss me off."
"How are you and the captain?"
"How did you know about that?"
"The walls have ears dear sweet Caroline. Maybe you two should be more careful with how you spend your mornings. Wouldn't want mommy dearest finding out about the two of you, now would you?"
"What the hell do you want?"
"I would settle for a kiss." He smiled his mouth inching closer to hers.
"Then come closer."
Smiling slightly, Tyler leaned in his mouth mere inches from her own as he stopped gasping for air and collapsing on the floor feeling the full extent of her power. He never should have threatened her or her husband. Now he would beg for her to stop.
"If you ever threaten me or my husband again, I. Will. End. You." She hissed freeing him as he spat and coughed letting her walk away with a smile on her face.
