Summary:
Just an AU, there are a lot of these kinds, but I wanted to make my own version just for fun.
This story will be in school, thor is 15 and loki is 14. Thor forgets his book and the teacher told him to share with loki, thor wondered who is this boy, and why he's always alone.
Note: the phrases between () means that it's inner thoughts

The bell ranged indicating the end of the break, and the next class was math. thor and his friends sif, fandral, hogun and volstagg headed to their classroom. making a huge noise like they always do, especially thor with his laugh that could be heard from the end of the corridor, they were teasing volstagg about how the old lady accused him of stealing the food while he actually paid for it, it was a misunderstanding, volstagg was holding the bags of sandwiches in his hands, because there was no bags to put them in, so the old lady thought that he was stealing, a fuss was made until thor and sif managed to resolve the problem.
Thor and his friends were still laughing until the math teacher got in and told them to sit in their seats. their seats were far away from each other, someone could possibly wonder why, well, it's because they made a lot of noise when they were close to each other that the teachers couldn't handle it anymore, so they separated them, sif in the left front, volstagg in the back right, fandral in the middle which he liked a lot because he was surrounded by girls now, hogun in the right front, and thor in the second right beside the chair that is close to the window.
Everyone sat down, and the students started to take their books out of their bags. thor did too, he was looking for his book, he searched for it twice, then remembered, he forgot his book on the desk back at home, the teacher will be mad at him, it's not the first time this happened, and with his low grades, the teacher will sure blame it for his carelessness,what should he do?. well of course, there is no way except to tell her,
"teacher" he interrupted her talk,
"What is it thor? Did you forget your book again?",
"yes" he smiled widely at how his teacher managed to discover this very fast,
"my god thor, how many times now", she sighed, "I'm tired of scolding you, just share the book with loki",
Loki? Who's loki? Thor wondered and looked beside him, seeing a boy with black hair and green eyes. was he here before? Thor can't seem to remember,
"loki, would you mind sharing with thor", the teacher asked the black haired boy, which he seemed troubled, wanting to refuse but unable to do so, it will only make him look bad, so he nodded, "thank you loki, thor get your table close and pay attention, i will ask you today as a punishment for your carelessness", she returned to teaching leaving thor with his fear of the question, he knows that he would not be able to answer that.
Thor moved the table close to Loki's, and loki moved the book to the middle,
"hi" thor said in a friendly manner as usual, "sorry for the trouble",
"it is alright as long as you keep quiet", his eyes were focused on the board,
Thor now wished that he was still beside one of his friends, it would have been fun, and now he is stuck with this boy who he does not remember being here from the beginning.
The class felt as if it had no end, how long has it been? Two houres? It felt even more. Thor was really lost, he knew that the question would come any time now, and he was trying really hard to understand but to no avail. he was left confused, "I'm screwed" he said with almost a giving up tone, Loki heard that, he glanced at him with the corner of his eye, and after going around his mind, he decided to talk,
"it is not that hard",
"what?" thor didn't expect that, he tried to talk to him before, but loki shut him saying that he should focus on the lesson not him,
"here" he started writing and talking almost whispering. explaining the equation to thor, he found himself understanding the explanation easily, why couldn't the teacher explain like this?, "and that's it",
"thor, come and solve the equation" the teacher called,
"yes miss, right away", he hesitated, but what choice did he have?, he got up to the board, grabbed the pin, and started solving the equation. when he finished he looked at the teacher and asked "is that right?",
The teacher looked dumbfounded "yes, yes it is, go back to your seat",
Thor returned to his seat, glad that he managed to solve the equation, he sat down and looked at loki, "that was great! thanks a lot! your explanation was really easy", loki averted his eyes and stayed silent, thor was confused by his behavior, did he say something wrong? He was just praising him.
The class ended and Thor's friends gathered around him, asking how was he able to answer that, he responded with "because I'm a genius not like you four", sif protested "who are you calling stupid? I'm the only one between you who have high grades", it was true, she always passed the tests, while the others had always to take extra classes.
The next teacher entered the room, amd everyone returned to their seats. "Are you not returning to your place" Loki said with a cold tone and a weird glare, Thor now realized that he did not move his chair back, he apologized and returned to his place, he thought again if he did something wrong to make Loki respond with such a manner, but couldn't recognize anything.
The last class has ended, so thor turned to loki "hey loki was it?"Loki nodded, his eyes not looking at Thor, "I'm sorry if i annoyed you today", there was a small pause before loki answered "not such a thing happened", if that is the case, then why does he act like this?, "see you tomorrow then" thor give a big smile, which in return, loki just nodded and left, leaving thor once again confused with his behavior, "hey, you good thor?" fandral asked interrupting his thoughts,
"umm yes I'm good…say, was that loki always here?",
"ahh…. " he looked troubled to answer,
"what are you talking about, of course he was" sif tried to cover up for him,
"yes he was, right hogan?" volstagg supported sif and they looked at hogan, hogun said "yes",
"Why ask anyway?" sif wandered,
"nothing, just curious is all",
"well, i will recommend that you don't waste your time on him",
"why is that?",
"you know, he always does not respond and gives hateful glares, anyways, it's not worth it",
"i see" thor answered, not convinced of her answer, though it's true, he sensed the weird glares that loki give, hateful she said, but he doesn't think so, i mean why would he help him if he didn't like him or hate him? something felt off, and he's not able to grasp it though.
Next day, Thor greeted Loki "good morning", Loki looked around him and said "me?", "yes, who else" thor replied, loki looked confused and nervous. He stayed silent for a moment "g…good morning" then, he averted his eyes immediately to the window.
thor sat down turning the chair to face loki, "I think I haven't introduced myself yesterday probably, I'm…"
"thor odinson, i know, you have been here the whole term",
"ahh yes you're right" he was speechless now, he only wanted to make a little conversation to know this boy who is setting beside him, "what are you watching?",
"nothing", he said with a cold tone,
"ok" he felt being shut down, and he could no longer continue to speak, maybe sif was right, he didn't like him, so he returned to his place, waited until the teacher came and the class started.
The break bell range, some of the students got out and some reminded in the class,
"hurry up thor", sif said
"alright just a second",
Thor gathered his stuff and put it inside the bag, then he caught loki opening a food container and started eating, (does he have no friends?), "thooor" sif called, "right away" he hesitated, then got up and went with his friends.
The rest of the days, thor did not make any progress with loki, only greetings in the morning and barely two conversation, "what are you reading?",

"is it good?",
"yes! It's…yes it's good", his eyes glow and he sounded excited at the beginning, but then it faded away immediately, like if he realized that there is no point in talking about this with thor.
thor was disappointed, he was so close to keep the conversation up, but it died fast, at least he now knows that loki does not dislike him.
It was the end of the week now, Thor, because he was curious, and without intention noticed some things about loki. he found that loki does really have no friends, he arrives at school sitting in his chair, eat alone in it, and finally returns back home. during all the time spent in school, his voice could only be heard when he participated in classes.
Thor was sitting at the table with his parents, his mind was occupied, and for once in every couple of months, Thor was really quiet, "something bothering you thor?", frigga asked,
"umm i guess",
"what is it?",
"...there is this boy in my class, he is umm how do you said it…really lonely….or that what i think",
"so?",
"no mom, like really really lonely, no friends, always eating alone, it's bothering me to see him like that",
"well then, talk to him",
"i tried but….either he respond with short answers or just stays silent, i don't really know how to handle it",
"well, this type who you are talking about most likely need to try harder with them",
"why?",
"they're just quit and a little bit shy, this is probably why people always understand them wrong, but in fact they are great when you get to know them",
"i see",
"try talking to him next time, I'm sure that he too is confused as much as you, of why you're talking to him",
"I will".
The weekend ended, and thor managed to bring something up to talk to loki about. it was break time, and thor took the chance when his friends went to buy food. because today, frigga made lunch for him,
"say loki!",
Loki flinched at that, he couldn't get used to thor calling him, in fact he was almost certain that thor was going to give up talking to him by now, leaving loki wondering, why thor is still talking to me "yes",
Thor turned the chair at him and continued "your grades are really good at math right", Loki nodded "my grades are really bad, and I need help. Then i remembered your explanation, and how it was really easy to understand",
"so?",
"could you help me in my study",
"why not asking your friends",
"nonsense, they are all bad as me, well except for sif, but let's face it, sif is bad at teaching" loki just stared at him "could you not tell her about the last part, she will kill me for it",
Loki looked troubled, what should he do? He was not sure about accepting, because this would eventually end up like always,
"so what do you say?",
"alright", (there you go, you did it again, accepting, how foolish of me, but no, i will not carry on with this further, i would rather be alone) ,
"thanks a lot, when do we start?",
"after school, meet me in the center library",
"you got it" he got his lunch box out, opened it and start eating on Loki's table, (play it cool like it's ordinary),
"are you not going to eat with your friends?",
"They will be fine" he continued without paying attention to loki, though he felt a cold glare staring at him, Loki let out a small sigh, opened his lunch box and started eating.
After school ended, thor, as loki said, went to the central library, he was late a little bit, he was making excuses to his friends that he can't hangout with them today, he succeed and here he was at the library,
"hey!" he said loudly,
"shhhh! Are you trying to get us kicked out",
"sorry",
"sit down", loki looked around him and saw that no one was glaring at them. he let out a relief sigh "so what do you not understand?",
"everything",
"what?! You must be kidding me?" thor shook his head in denial and loki asked himself (what did i get myself into), "alright, from the beginning than?",
"yes", thor was smiling widely, which irritated loki a lot, making him roll his eyes.
Loki was aiming to finish this studying thing today, he did not want to get involved with this thor anymore,
"let us stop here, my head hurts",
"no, we will continue",
"please, let's continue tomorrow",
"why are you doing this?",
"doing what?",
"talking to me, you have been doing this for a week now",
"why not? I just want to be friends",
"friend? Nonsense, you already have friends",
"so? It does not mean i can't be with you",
"listen, let me make this clear, i don't want to be friends, so when this thing over do not talk to me again",
"why?",

"did i do something wrong?",
"...let's continue tomorrow, have a nice day",
Loki stood up and left in a hurry. thor was so confused, what the hell just happened?.
At home, thor was sitting in the kitchen, watching his mother cooking dinner,
"did you talk to your friend?",
"yes….. But he told me not to do it again",
Frigga let a small laugh "what did you do to make him say that?",
"nothing mother i swear, he said it is best like this, and when i asked why he changed the subject and left, i think I'm going to leave him like he said",
"oh thor, maybe there is something makes him act like that, try figure it out",
"but how?",
"i don't know, try harder i guess", Thor let out a long sigh, "i never knew that you were a giver up",
"I'm not!, i will try again",
"just be careful to not push the matter too far",
"I will mother".
"good morning", thor greeted with enthusiasm,
"really?",
"what?"
"nothing….good morning", loki replied just not to be rude,
"say, today let's go study in a different place, the library is too quiet, i can't talk freely",

"my house?",
"no",
"your house?",
"no!", That seemed to pull a trigger somehow, "after school, when everyone go home, here in class",

The break bell ranged and thor went with his friends,
"you've been talking to loki lately a lot, what this all about", fandral asked
"nothing, I'm just trying to be friend with him",
"really!, i thought that i told you not waste your time thor" sif said,
"I'm not",
"come on, this won't work, he's clearly not like us" volstagg said,
"how come?",
"you know, all into books and stuff, he's a nerd",
"and gloomy, he will turn off my shining beauty with it", fandarl added
"is that all you think about? Your beauty" sif rolled her eyes,
"well i can't get girls if i don't",
"how many do you have now? 20? And you want more, one day you will get abandoned for this",
"not happening",
Thor sensed something weird in his friends, like they were hiding something.
It was the end of school now, thor told his friends he will stay longer in school for studying,
"oh no, thor is turning into a nerd" fandral said,
"I'm not, I'm unlike you, don't want to take extra classes",
"with whom you're studying",
"loki", there was a pause "he's really good at teaching",
"I'm good at teaching" sif said
"ahh yes you are, but i didn't want to bother you",
"in other words you suck at teaching" volstagg said",
"what! I do not!",
"jeez volstagg you didn't have to say that" fandral said,
"is that really what you think thor?",
"ahh i wouldn't say suck, it just i don't understand you",
"i can not believe you all!, I'm going home!" she left,
"and now she's angry" volstagg said,
"and who's fault is that" hogun finally speaked,
"Anyway, see you guys tomorrow", Thor left and headed to the class.
Loki was watching the sky when a loud noise distracted his peaceful time,
"loki!",
"could you be less louder",
"sorry" he sat opposite of loki with a big wide smile like always,
"let's start",
"before we do that, i have a question?",
"what is it?",
"that time when i forgot my book, why did you help me?",
"...no specific reason",
"there must be a reason",
"let's just start studying",
"not until you answer my question",
"i already did",
"I don't believe it", there was a moment of silent "so?"
"you looked lost, and i figured you needed a hand",
"and so i did, if it weren't for you the teacher would have scolded me more",
"can we start now?",

"what now? I answered your question",
"i know, but i want to return the favor",
"what favor?"
"of you helping me back then and now",
"you don't need to",

Loki let a long sigh "do whatever you want",
"does that mean i could be your friend?",
"no!",
"why not?"
"just no…i told you it's for the best",
"for you or me?"
"...me, happy now?",

"is this some kind of investigation?",
"no, but i really want to know",
"why?"
"because i want to be your friend",
"oh my god back at that again" he put his hands on his face rubbing it "listen i don't want to hurt you with my words, so could you stop?",
"no, i want to know why you're rejecting being friends",
"you didn't even notice that i was beside you the whole term, so why do you care now?",
"well I've noticed now and i do care",
"you're just faking to care that's all",
"why do you think that?",
"because all of you do!" he shouted, "faking to care and to be friends while you all dislike me, and once you take what want you leave!",
"...i won't do that",
"yet another lie, once we finish studying you will leave just like anyone else…..i should have not help you that time if i knew this would've happen, what a fool i am",
"loki you are not a fool",
"you know nothing",
"tell me than",
"... it's always like this, it's always happening because i was a fool believing that they cared while they all didn't … So I decided that I won't believe anyone and rather be alone than to get fooled again… I'm tired of getting abandoned" a memory crossed his mind which led to his eyes getting watery, he wiped his eyes and said "let's just start studying now"
"we could study tomorrow",
"no, i want to finish now",
"as you want",
The next hour spent in studying, and that was it, they covered what they learned and it was end of it,
"anything else?" loki asked,
"no, it's all cleared",
"i should returne now, I'm late",
"sure"
Loki gathered his stuff "good bye, hope you success in exams",
"See you tomorrow",Loki ignored that and left. Thor was thinking, was there something beyond what Loki said? Why did his eyes get watery at the end?, tired of getting abandoned….he will try to figure it out, eventually, for now all he knows is he has to prove him wrong and he doesn't fake caring.
Next day came, thor was late, he overslept, he reached the class out of breath, it was seconds before the teacher got in, he sat down in his seat, "get your books out on page 50 and let's start" the teacher said and he took the chance saying in a whispering voice "good morning loki", loki looked at him surprised, not knowing what to do, so he just nodded, he was certain that thor was not going to greet him.
The class ended and it was math next, thor opened his bag and his face got pale, "ahh teacher",
"what?",
"i forgot my book",
"Oh come on thor! Can't you stay one week without forgetting your book" she sighed "share it with loki" she was frustrated so she didn't ask loki if he minds or not.
Thor moved his table close and said "i swear i didn't intend on doing this, i really did forget it" he looked so troubled, after what happened yesterday he didn't know how loki will react to this, but loki moved his book in the middle and stayed silent, thor didn't know what does this means so he too stayed silent.
In the middle of class thor had lost his focus, he now does not understand a word of what she says, it's like she's speaking ancient language or summoning a demon, he casted his eyes on the book, then a note was passed to him, it included an explanation of what the teacher was saying, yet once again he found himself wondering if the teacher was bad or if loki was too good at explaining, "thor!" the teacher yelled,
"yes!",
"focus!",
"yes miss",
"now who can solve this?", thor raised his hand willingly for the first time in class, "yes thor", thor got up and solved the question "that's…..correct, get back to your seat", the whole class was shocked, is this really thor who used to fail answering all of the questions?, thor sat down and said "how was i?!",
"good",
"at this rate i might not take extra classes thanks to you",
"...your welcome".
It was break time now, instead of going with his friends thor staid in the class, got his lunch out and moved his chair close to Loki's table,
"what are you doing?",
"eating",
"than go with your friends",
"I'm with a friend",
Loki's eyes widened for a moment then returned to normal, (should i believe him?), he averted his eyes and opened his lunch box, it was very organized, everything in its own place, "that looks delicious, who makes your lunch?",
"... me",
"you cook for yourself?",
"yes",
"wow, i can barely find time to get ready for school",
"i pre-made them in the night",
"oh that's makes sense, can i try it?",
"ahhmm sure",
Thor took a bite of it "damn! That delicious, how can you cook so good",
"training i guess",
"wish i could do that, i can barely make eggs", the corner of Loki's lips raised "is that a smile i see?",
"shut up and eat", he ignored him and started to eat,
"say, what are you up to after school?",
"I'm going to the library",
"oh, after that?",
"i have to get home to feed my kitten, why?",
"i just thought that we could hang out",
"... I'm just going to buy a book, I'm free after that",
"great! Let's go to the game center, do you like games?",
"yes!...yes i like them" there it is again, his eyes glow for a moment then faded,
"i love games! I almost have every game in my house, and kind of obsessed with buying figures of them",
"you have figures!", the glow returned to his eyes,
"yes, only 10",
"10!, you can afford that!, it's very expensive",
"well i buy them when i manage to save my money",
"is that so" he felt a little envious,
"oh! The games event is coming soon, let's go to it",
"i don't know, i don't think that i can",
"why?" he asked out of pure curiosity, there was no ill intuition,
"...my situation is not like you thor, i don't have the money for it",
"oh….i can pay you",
"no,no no, i will not allow it",
"ok…..we're still though going to the games center?",
"only after i grab my book",
"sure!" he said with excitement, loki never understood what makes him so excited like this.
School ended, and as they agreed loki grabbed the book and then headed to the game center. loki was uncertain of going inside, it was his first time going to this place, he was always alone and couldn't afford it. so he didn't have the chance to try it, this time though it's different, they got inside and it was loud with noises, there was many choices but they chose the one where they can fight against each other, they sat opposite of each other and chose a character and the fight start. Thor won the first two games because loki couldn't get the hang of it, but loki demanded another match with frustration, they played again, and now loki knew how the controllers work and he easily defeated thor, loki had a big wide smile, thor didn't, he wasn't used to losing, so he demanded another fight, and he never won again. no matter how many times he asked for another match, it ended up with a mad thor and a happy loki.
"oh don't get mad, it's just I'm better than you",
"nonsense!", he went for the catching game, put the money and started moving the handler,
"you know that just a waste of money",
"shut up loki",
"and aren't you big enough for a toy",
"it's not the toy that i want" he pressed the button and didn't manage to catch anything "it's just frustrating to not be able to beat this machine",
"maybe your bad at",
"oh really, try it then",
Loki did, putted the money in the machine and started to play. he pushed the button and the machine catched the toy, but sadly it dropped it before it reached the hole "whose bad now", Loki's face got red from embarrassment and thor laughed. loki putted another coin, and like before the toy dropped before it reached. "come on dude let's go, it's not worth it" thor said, "no, they stole our money" loki protested, "well that's the point of it i guess" thor said scratching his head, "i have an idea" loki smiled mischiefly "let's pull up the machine a little bit so the toy drops in the hole",
"what!", he raised his voice
"shhhh lower your voice",
"that's stealing", he whispered
"they stole us first, we're just getting our money back", thor looked terrified by the idea "believe me no one will notice, come on, i will pretend to play and you do it",
"why me?!"
"because you have muscles",
It's true, though Thor was only 15 but he had a big muscular body. Thor found himself doing what loki said, he pulled up the machine and the toy dropped. loki took the toy and said "now let's get out before someone discovere what we did", it got thor spooked up really fast and they got out of the place,
"don't ever do that again! If we went to jail it's your fault",
"we are not going to jail over a toy",
"are you mad?",
"probably" he smiled,
Thor sighed, he's anger faded after seeing loki smiling, he almost thought that he doesn't until he saw his face full of joy today, "what are you going to do with the toy",
"keep it",
"i thought you said we are big enough for one",
"i know, I'm going to keep it anyway",
"let's go and eat something, I'm kind of hungry",
"oh no i can't, i have to go home, i have to feed my kitten",
"right you said that",
"...see you tomorrow?",
"yes! Of course" he never thought that Loki would say that, but that means that maybe now he considered him as a friend, he gave a sharful smile, waved him goodbye and loki left, so he returned to his home too.
Loki reached his home, and a little girl ran to him, "lokiiii", she hugged his knees and he kneeled to be at her height,
"welcome home" the little girl said
"hello Mary, guess what i brought you today",
"what! What!" she was jumping out of excitement,
"here you go" he got his hidden hand from behind him and showed her the toy,
"a toy! It's beautiful! Thank you loki!",
"loki is that you?" a woman's voice called him,
"yes lady Eir, I'm home",
"do you think you can lend me a hand?",
"right away, just let me put my stuff first".
Loki was living in an orphanage, the orphanage was small, could only bear 4 to 6 childrens, but now it was only him and mary. mary got here only last year, she is 5 years old, and loki was here for a long time. he is unlike the other children was not lucky with getting adopted, and now that he's 14, the family's that comes to visit them considered him too old to get adopted, so they always ignored him, even though lady Eir tried her best to make him noticeable but it didn't work. Loki was used to it, so it doesn't bother him anymore, but now the orphanage was not in a good condition, it's no more getting paid, the company that owed it was demanding Eir to close it, Eir tried to convince them not to, but they only told her not accept more children and to find any families for the remaining ones. luckily, most of the childrens got adopted, leaving little mary and loki. her concern was loki, what will happen to him?, no one seems to care to adopt him, it was like that since the day he was brought here, she always tried to cheer him up by telling him that one day he will be with a great family that will love him with no conditions, this might have worked when he was a child, but now….now he looks like he lost hope, and it hurts her to see him like that, he was always a good child, he helps her in the house and in taking care of the kids, and now always find a time to play with mary since no one is here to play with her. if only people could see him they will wish to have a child like him.
The next two days was good, loki no more tried to avoid thor, in fact he was a little bit talkative, they spent the time together, and it was then when sif decided to interfere,
"hello thor, did you missed us?",
"sif!",
"can i talk to you for a minute?",
"sure", Sif got out and Thor followed her after he said to loki be right back.
She walked until they reached the yard away from people gathering,
"what are you doing?",
"what do you mean?",
"aren't you forgetting us? Or is that loki is more important?",
"of course not, you are my friends",
"doesn't look like so, you have been refusing to hang with us lately, is it that fun to be with loki? Or to be a partner in stealing?",
"stealing? Sif what are you talking about?",
"look thor, we tried to warn you, loki is a thief, every year the money in our saving box in class gets stolen, and every time that happened we find it in his bag, so do you really want to be a friend of a thief?",
"that's impossible!",
"it is not",
"i don't believe you",
"thor we tried to warn you, we thought that you will give up talking to him since he doesn't talk, but now that the situation improved we decided to step in, loki is not good, he steals and never admit that he did. he's not just a thief but also a liar",
"enough!" he shouted which made sif flinch "i don't want listen to you" he walked away,
"thor!" she called hoping that he would stop.
Thor returned to the class with anger showing on his face,
"are you alright?" loki asked with concern,
"yes I'm fine",
Loki kind of guessed what happened "was it about me?",
"no" he answered immediately which made the situation obvious,
"i see" he was playing with his hand, a gesture he does when he's nervous, he was thinking for a little moment then "thor i.." the bell range cutting his words,
"what did you say?",
"no, the class is starting, you better return to your seat" he gave a small smile which had sadness in it (i should've known, no, i knew but…i thought that this time is different, once again i clinged to a false hope, I'm such an idiot).
The weekend finished, thor went to school with hope to discover that the information he heard was wrong. when sif told him about the stealing incidents, he remembered that time in the game center (it's not stealing, we're just taking our money back), he was wondering why would loki do that?, he remembered too when loki said that he can not afford to go to the games event, (if he did steal, then there must be a reason for him to do it, he said that his situation is not good, but….. Is it really that bad?), he got to the classroom and saw that loki is not there, (maybe he's late), a couple of minutes passed and the class started with no sign of loki, today he was absent (something happened to him?).
Loki was absent for three days now, thor was worried, he didn't have any kind of communication to ask loki or even know where he lived, it was then when professor banner called thor to talk to him after school.
Professor banner teaches science, he is a well hearted man that some students come to him just to talk about the burdens they have, loki was one of them, he always pays a lot of attention and do everything he can to help them,

"I've seen you hanging with loki lately, are you a friend of his?",

"well than, can you do me a favor, usually I'll do this by myself, but you see I'm really busy with preparing for exams",
"sure anything doc",
"i want you to give this to loki" he gives him a file contained what they studied the past three days "i don't want him to miss his lessons with exams starting next week",
"but doc, i don't know where he lives",
"oh, so you're not that close of a friend",
"well I've tried once telling him to study together in his house, but he refused",
"i see….i see, so he didn't tell you yet" he was in deep thoughts,
"tell me what?",
"I'm not sure if it's my right to tell you this, but i really need for this to be handed today, sit down thor" thor did as he was told "look the thing is, loki is an orphan" Thor's eyes widened at that "he lives in an orphanage, and that's maybe why he didn't tell you, because he didn't want you to think less of him or to start bullying him about it",
"bullying! I'll never do that",
"didn't say you would, but since he suffered from this in elementary school, and even now, he stopped talking to anyone, it is why he's alone",
"is the stealing incident part it?",
"oh, so you've heard about that, look why not try talking to him? It's better to hear it from him" he handed the file and wrote a note sticking it on the file "the direction to the house is here",
"are you sure about that doc?",
"i think he really needs a friend like you thor, so yes",

After school, thor went with his friends to the restaurant, after they finished he waved them goodbye and went to Loki's house. he was now in front of it, a small building with a small yard to play in, he looked around and found no one. he went to the house and ringed the bell, no one answered, thor was told that loki had a fever, so he might be sleeping, but where's the owner?, and the kids?, it's an orphanage so there must be other kids in there. after some time of thinking he tried opening the door, it was opened, after some more thinking he got inside, he said hello but no one answered, there was a corridor leading to two rooms and a stair leads to the second floor. he checked the rooms after knocking and finding no answers, it was empty. then he heard a noise coming from upstairs, "is someone up there?" he asked, but no answer came, bad thoughts came to his mind, the door was opened when he got here, did someone broke in the house?, he went up stairs with caution, there was two other rooms, one it's door was opened, and the other one where the noise came from which was closed. he got closer and listened. there was someone moaning like he was suffering from pain, thor opened the door slowly and saw no one was there except for loki. he got inside and something slipped between his legs and made him flinch in fear. he looked at what was moving and it was a small cat, that must be Loki's thor thought.
loki was sleeping, he started saying unclear words with hands closed in fist grabbing the sheet, "father please don't leave me" loki said in almost a whisper voice, thor putted his bag on the floor and went to loki. he shook him "loki wake up" he shook him again, "father" loki said again, he was sweating a lot and his body felt like it's burning, "loki! LOKI!" he shook him one more time and raised his voice. loki opened his eyes in horror, heaving fastly, he focused his eyes and saw thor. "thor?! What are you doing here?! How did you….",
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but you were having a nightmare",
"how did you got in here?",
"the door was opened",
"i mean how did you find this place?", his eyes was so wide that you could easily see that he was terrified,
"doctor banner told me" he felt bad now, maybe he shouldn't have come "he wanted me to give you this" he opened the bag and got the file out "he said its include all the lessons you've missed until now" loki didn't answer, apparently his mind was somewhere else "I'll just put it on your disk" he did put it and turned to loki "do you need water?" he saw that loki was almost out of breath from breathing heavily and fast,
"what?",
"do you need water?",
"no no I'm good, i can bring it myself" he got off bed, but the world around him spin and he was about to fall, thor supported him,
"loki you're burning, you should lay down I'll bring the water for you",
"I'm sorry",
"did you take your medicine?",
"lady eir had gone to bring some",
Thor didn't know who's that, but he figured it's the lady who's taking care of the orphanage "lay down, I'll be right back", loki did, and thor went down stairs, he saw the kitchen when he searched the house, he got to it and found a bottle of water outside, it was room temperature, he brought it, and before getting out he stopped to think a little bit. loki was burning up, he remembered his mother putting a wet cloth on his forehead to keep the body cooled down, he should do this until eir comes with the medicine, he looked for a bowl and found one, he filled it with cold water, he looked for a clean cloth and found one in the drawers, he got everything and returned to the room.
Loki was laying down, eyes closed, he can barely open them, he heard footsteps entering his room getting near,
"i brought water",
"just put on the table, I'll drink it later with the pill…..you should go now, thank you for the file" he heard sound of water dripping, he opened his eyes to the half and looked to the direction of the sound "what are you doing?", the wet cloth was putted gently on his forehead,
"I'll stay until the lady returns, for now just keep that on your forehead, it will keep the fever down",
"no you should go, you will catch the cold",
"i won't, I'm stronger than to catch a simple fever" he sat down on the floor beside the bed,
"why are you doing this?",
"do what?",
"why don't you leave like the others? I'm an orphan don't you see? No one does want to be near someone who his family thrown him",
"What does it matter? Orphan or not, you are still you, so don't worry, things won't change", loki was stunned by that, "I've known people who have family and they are worse than an animal, so don't think less of yourself, you're still my friend, alright?",
Loki let a small laugh "you're a fool you know, people will talk ill of you now",
"let them, it doesn't matter to me",

"you're welcome" there was a moment of silent and thor decided to ask now better than later "i have something to ask",
"what is it",
"I've…i actually wasn't sure if i should ask, but doctor banner told me to, he said it's better if i heard it from you. I've heard that you stole the money from the savings box in school…..why do they say that?" he thought it better to ask this way rather than saying if it was true or not,
"...well you believe me if i told you?",
"of course!" he raised his voice,
"don't shout, my head hurts",
"sorry",
Loki sighed "i didn't steal anything, one day when the class decided to finally use the money for the class activity, on the national day event, they found it empty, the student who was responsible for the saving box said that it was there in the morning, …so they decided to check everyone's bag, to see if someone stole it, and i was the last one they searched. i swear to you i don't know how did the money ended up in my bag, i told them i didn't do it, but no one believed me, i tried to talk to the teachers to, but no one did hear me, even one of them told me that even if i was an orphan and don't have enough money, i should have not stole it. they made me apologize for something i didn't do…. Do you remember telling you I'm tired of being abandoned?",
"yes",
"apart from the elementary school, where every friend i have left after they learned i was an orphan, this one that happened in the stealing incident was the worst, they were two, a boy and a girl. they didn't bother to stand by my side when i told them it wasn't me, they were just like the others, believed that because i didn't have enough money i stole what was in the saving box…..the same thing happened in the second year, but it was a little different, this time they didn't find it in my bag, but still accused me of it, that time doctor banner handle everything, he didn't make me apologies, he just listened to me and simply believed me. he covered the matter and it was closed with no more questions, the money was never found…..so there it is, now you know",
"...i don't know what to say, i can't think of why would someone do that",
"bullying, that what doctor banner called it",
"anyways you should rest, and thank you for telling me, this clears a lot of things",
"you believe me?",
"i can't see why not" he smiled widely, "let me change that" he got the wet cloth off "you're really burning up, this so hot, your fever is very bad, are you sure you don't need to see a doctor?",
"no, it's always like that",
"the lady is late too, when did she got out?" he putted the wet cloth back on Loki's forehead,
"i think before you came, the pharmacy is far so that's why she's late",
"lady Eir I'm hungry", a sound of a little girl was heard,
"who's that?" thor asked,
"that's mary, they returned",
"wait a little bit sweetie, let me give Loki he's medicine first",
"ok",
Eir got up the stairs and went to the room. She got spooked up by the new presence in the room, "who are you?",
"sorry for interruption, I'm thor, Loki's friend",
"oh" she sighed "i thought that a burglar got inside since i forgot to close the door, sorry for mistaken",
"it's alright, i came here without notice, so it's kind of my fault",
"your name is thor right?",
"yes",
"nice to meet you,I'm eir, the one who takes care of this place",
"lady eir are you finished?", the small little girl approached and standed close to the door,
"be patient hony, and i told to not come hear, you will catch the cold",
"alright",
"so, i leave for a couple if minutes and returns to find you hanging with your friend instead of resting, what should i do to you" loki smiled,"oh right i almost forgot" she grabbed the medicine and got the pill out "here", loki sat down and got the pill, grabbed the water and drank it with the it, "now sleep and get a lots of rest, and you thor, should go out too before you catch the cold, how can you be so reckless like this while the exams are next week",
"ahhh", thor looked troubled,
"come on now, get up" thor did as told,
"get better", thor said and loki nodded to him,
"let's go now" she put her hand gently on Thor's back and led him out, this act reminded thor of his mother, he let a small laugh at it "get better soon, she closed the lights and the door too. she held mary up in her arms."and this is mary",
"hello mary" thor greeted with a smile, mary didn't answer,
"now now marry, what did i teach you to do when someone greets you",
"hi" marry said with red cheeks,
"she's a little bit shy, please don't mind her",
"it's alright",
"now what should we serve our guest, do you know mary?",
"oh please don't bother yourself",
"no no, your Loki's friend, and we should treat you to something, in fact yesterday mary made cookies, and it will make her happy if you ate one of iy",
"alright then, I'll try them",
"follow me to the kitchen" she was smiling happily.
Eir putted Mary on the table while she was preparing tea to serve with the cookies, "so how long do you know loki",
"not long, just two week now i guess",
"loki didn't tell me that he had a friend, well i can't blame him, he never had a real one",
"can i go bring my toy?" mary asked,
"sure" she put her down, "lately i noticed that Loki's eyes got brighter, like life had returned to them, it's been a long time since I've seen them like that, and now i see why, he was having fun in school, i must thank you",
"oh please, no need",
"No, let me, this boy had suffered a lot, and there is nothing more that can make me happy than to see him happy like that. thank you thor, please continue being his friend",
"don't worry, i will", Mary returned with the toy, thor recognized that toy and smiled (so that's why he wanted to keep it), "did loki gives you that toy",
"yes",
"did you know that he earned it especially for you?",
"he did!",
"yes", the girl's eyes glowed with joy,
"i play with loki with it every day, but now he's sick" she frowned in sadness,
"where are the other childrens?",
"they all got adopted" eir said "it's now only mary, me and loki",
"oh, well than, how about i play with you today?", The girl got a little bit shy then nodded,
"tea is ready" eir putted the tray on the table "enjoy",
After they finished, thor played with mary a little bit. Then he returned home, "come and visit us again" eir told him with a wide smile and he left.
After thor left, a man and a woman came, Eir welcomed them, they came here before and they told Eir that they wanted to adopt mary, Eir felt joy and fear in the same time, she thought that this might continue a little bit before mary gets with a new family, now she have to tell loki about everything, he's not stupid to not notice that they are no more giving her childrens to take care off, she have to tell him that they are closing down, and him? She didn't want to think about it, she can't handle telling him, not after things started to get good now. The couple told her that they might come to pick up mary in two weeks or so, their house is not ready yet but they didn't want the chance to go from their hands, she agreed to that and told them she will prepare for it.
Loki was absent for the whole week, luckily he healed from the fever and returned to school next week. this week was full of exams so they will be busy,
"did you study for anything?" loki asked,
"not even one, I'm going to end up taking extra classes" thor sighed "oh well i guess it meant to be",
"there is still time",
"thor are you coming with us today?", fandral asked when he approached him,
"ahhh" he looked at loki then back again to fandarl,
"loki can come too, if he wants", Loki was thinking, he wasn't sure "we were going to study, you know maybe you can help us, i mean we've seen how thor improved in math",
"what do you say?", thor asked,
"ok", loki said,
"great! We will be waiting for you at the school's library".
Things were a little bit awkward in the beginning, but Thor's friends knew better than to try change his mind, so they tried to get along, fandral didn't find problem talking to loki, neither volstagg, hogun was hogan, and sif was not good with what's happening. she even questioned fandral about why loki is here,
"you know if you looked closely, you actually got the look, you could be popular among girls",
"Are you sure you want that?" thor said,
"oh no no, stay as you are, i don't want my girls to be stolen from me",
"afraid of little competition" volstagg teased,
"like if!" he said in annoyance,
"who knows, he succeeded in stealing once why not succeed in that" sif said, and fandral slapped his head knowing what's about to happen now,
"sif!" thor almost shouted,
"what? He did, didn't he",
"i didn't steal anything" loki answered back,
"oh please just admit it, you're jealous of us and didn't want us to celebrate the festival, that's why you stole our efforts in saving", from the way they were talking, it's seems that they had this conversation before, "why don't you admit it and return what's ours",
"yes of course i should return something that i dont have and never had",
"no you have it!", she shouted
"i don't have it!" for the first time loki did actually screamed back at her which made her jump in fear,
"that's enough!" thor shouted stopping the argument, "enough you two, just calm down", both of them looked away from each other, "sif the rumors you heard is wrong",
"are you seriously defending him now! I can't believe this, I'm going out of here" she grabbed her bag and left,
"what's the matter with her?" thor asked,
The three looked at each other, than volstagg speaked "the last year when the money disappeared, they kind of blamed sif for it, she was the one responsible for the saving box, and they told her to take extra care since the stealing incident",
"yeah but unfortunately she lost the key to it, or someone stole it, we couldn't really figure it out, and after that, the money was stolen. the class blamed her for being careless, so that's why she's kind of still furious, especially after she heard about loki from her friends" fandral continued, he then asked "loki did you actually do it?", thor was about to answer but loki stopped him,
"look, I'm a victim here as much as her, i didn't steal anything, in both years, someone else is doing this, and i have absolutely no idea who he is, but if you want to help her clear this mess, then i have an idea", thor and fandral looked at each other in questioning "i think this year the same thing well happen again, if we managed to catch the thief, everything will be resolved, how about that?",
"What makes you sure that it will happen again?" thor asked,
"He or she did it twice, and now they think that they could do it again. and i can tell that I'm their target to put the blame on. the festival is after the exams, so why don't we keep an eye on the savings box, sounds like a good idea right?", they were silent thinking about the matter,
"I'm in" hogun said and they all looked surprised that hogun finally talked "this incidents been bothering me for a while now, but if we are to do it you will not be part of it" he pointed at loki "they will not believe you, so it's better if it came from us, you could be the bait for the thief and we will watch",
"sounds like a plan, i can't let a girl crying so I'm in" fandaral said,
"me too" volstagg said,
"great! After exams end, we will start our investigation" thor said in excitement,
"you know this is not a game" loki said,
"I know but it's like an adventure to discover the truth", loki rolled his eyes "let's study now".
After exams finished, and with the festival getting closer, the boys started their plan. hogun and volstagg in the morning before the class start, thor and fandral after school ends, and loki was keeping an eye on the girl who was responsible for the key in the break time. he tried not to make it suspicious so he was only watching when she goes with her friends to buy lunch and leaving her bag, it not like she was careless, but everyone do that, leaving their bags and return after they buy or when the break time ends.
It was now the day before they start getting ready for the festival, tomorrow they will open it, so they must keep their eyes wide open to anything suspicious. in the morning nothing happened, in break time nothing happened too, so now it's up to thor and fandral to find out if the thief will show. It was getting late.
"I'm starting to lose hope on this, nothing happened until now", fandarl said,
"we can't lose hope now, return to your closet",
Fandarl sighed "alright",
Fandarl was hiding in the closet where they kept the cleaning tools, and thor under the teacher's table, since he's big and tall, he didn't fit in the closet.
The door was opened and someone got in, and Fandral could see who got in through the lines in the closet, it was sif, what is she doing in here?, it can't be her?, luckily she wasn't, she took something that she forgot and was about to leave when she heard a sneeze, (thor! That idiot),
"who's there?", no answer came, she followed where the noise came from and saw thor "thor?! What are you doing?",
He felt relief when he saw sif, he was certain that he failed "hiding",
"from what?",
"to see who's stealing the money, fandral is there too",
"just for your information I'm suffocating in hear and sweating like a pig" he's voice was almost unclear,
"this is ridiculous, get out of hear you two, the thief is already known, so why bother trying to find out",
"sif please, it's not loki you must believe me",
"yeah right, I'm leaving",
When she was about to, they heard a laugh outside and it was getting closer. thor grabbed sif and pulled her down with him under the table with his hand on her mouth "shhh keep silent" he said wesparing, her face got red, she was being hugged by thor, she tried to break free but she heard him say "please sif be quite", she calmed down, and the door burst opened with two persons laughing, one belonged to a girl and the other to a boy,
"that was easy", the boy said,
"i know she's really dumb",
"now that we got the key, let's get the money out",
"but wait, it might be dangerous this time, let us leave some in Loki's table",
"you're right, but i have a better idea, let's leave the key and we could enjoy all the money, you know this boy is really beneficial to us",
"well no one told him to be an orphan",
They laughed loudly, sif couldn't believe what she heard, she realized now that she made a mistake, she thought wrong of loki, her thoughts were cutted when she saw that thor was about to get out of his place, she pushed him shaking her head, not now she said whispering , thor seemed to calm a little bit,
"we're finished here, let's go honey",
"yes darling",
They left, and when thor and the others got sure that the boy and the girl left, they got out of their hiding places,
"wow, that was surprising" fandarl said panting for air "does it happen you have water? I'm dying of thirst in here",
Sif handed him water and said "what do we do now?",
"we should have stopped them" thor said,
"and what could we have done? There is no teachers in this hour to tell them",
"don't worry" fandarl said with a heavy breath "we have a an evidence" he raised his phone and start a video "it was Loki's idea, i recorded it all",
Both of them smiled with Joyce and went home with eased minds.
The next day, the first thing the three did was to go to doctor banner, they told him everything and showed him the video. banner could recognize their voices, though their faces were not visible in the video, but fandarl saw them yesterday so he was certain the boy and the girl were in their class. banner told them to return to their class for now, and that he had an idea. they were lost, why wouldn't he get them now?, they did as he said and returned to the class.
When they reached the class, they saw the girl that was responsible for the bix crying and trampling. her friends were calming her down, the three sat in their seats and loki immediately turned to thor whispering, "can i talk to you outside", thor saw he's frightened face and nodded, they got outside and loki said freaking out "thor, the key is in my drawer table, what should i do, they will find out and say it was me again",
"shh relax" loki didn't seem to focus so he grabbed him by the shoulder "we found the theifs" that caught Loki's attention "we told doctor banner, he told us he will handle this",
"are you sure?",
"yes so calm down, everything will be fine",
"what about the key",
"just leave it, I'm sure doctor banner will know what to do",
They returned to the class and all eyes were looking at loki, he looked down and sat in his seat, his hands were shaking.
"good morning everyone" the first class was doctor banner "how is everyone today",
"doctor a problem happened", one of the girl's friend said
"a problem in this early morning, sure what happened",
"the key to the saving box had been stolen",
"again",
"yes doctor, and we want to look for it",
"alright stand up everyone",
"doctor we want you to search loki, we suspect him",
Banner sighed "alright" he went to loki "loki, do you have anything?", loki didn't know what was banner doing, but he trusted him in this, so he got the key out and handed over, the student start talking calling him a theif or saying i knew it was him, "quit everyone" they did as told "now this makes wonder, how did the key ended up in Loki's drawer, loki is not that stupid to leave such a valuable evidence around and handed over simply like that, isn't that right amber?" amber was the girl from yesterday,
"i don't know", she answered with nervousness,
"what about you Jeffrey?",
"how I'm i suppose to know doc",
Loki knew who were those two, they were his friends in the first year who left him,
"do you really don't know?",
"of course not",
"let me ask you a question, why do you think loki will steal",
"well of course because he's an orphan and poor, what's else to that",
"amber do you agree with him",
"yes",
"well, here is the thing, loki didn't do it, and I'm sure you two know who did it, so do you have something to say",
"i don't understand what you mean, are you saying that we did this?, you already found the key in his drawer, so it's obvious that he did it", the students were wondering what was banner doing,
"i really didn't want this to go this far, but the students must know who is the real culprit in here" he got his phone and started the video. He raised the volume and all that happened yesterday could be heard. amber and Jeffrey were frightened, amber started crying and Jeffrey was left stunned in his place. "you two are in big trouble, you didn't only steal but also ruined Loki's life by accusing him of something he didn't do, and ruined his reputation. now do you have something to say?",
"Who recorded this?" the boy asked,
"does it matter?",
"it was you!" he shouted and ran to loki with his hands closed to fist. He aimed to punch him, but Thor grabbed his hand and twisted it behind his back, "what are you doing! Leave me!" he wiggled and managed to break free, pushed thor back, and turned to loki only to be punched by him in the face, "you bastard!" Jeffrey said, and before he could do anything further, volstagg wrapped his arms around him and lifted him of the ground,
"doctor what should i do with him?",
"put me down you idiot" he was kicking the air,
"keep him like that and come with, we will go to the principle, of course that includes you amber", when she heard her name she tried to run, but sif grabbed her and walked her with volstagg to the principle.
The class was a mess, the students didn't utter a sound, not knowing what to say, but the girl who was responsible for the key stepped up, gathered her courage and apologized to loki for accusing him of stealing. the other students followed her lead and apologized too, loki accepted the apologies, he felt happy that this is finally over. Sif and Volstagg returned to the class, fandarl asked what happened there. They said that they will probably not going to see them in this school anymore.
After school, they decided to go to volstagg house to celebrate this day. The reason why they decided to go to his house is because his family was having a feast today with the fine meat they have. volstage family sales high quality meat, there business is famous withit,
"me? Go to your house?" he was shocked,
"yeah, you have something to do?",
"no, it's just…..nothing just let me call lady Eir, she's probably going to get worried",
He was surprised by the sudden changes that happened, they were treating him like he was one of them, it kind of was weird and new. but it's good, at least no one is giving him a glare of death anymore. They were at volstage house, eating, laughing and dancing. he noticed that sif was far away from them, after thinking, he got up and went to her,
"sif",
Sif flinched, she didn't hear him coming "yes",
"you've been standing here the whole night, you're not joining them",
"i…i...listen, I'm so so sorry, i was mean to you and kept blaming you", her face got red of shame and eyes were looking down on the ground "i know you might not forgive, but i couldn't just stay in here acting like i did nothing, I'm sorry, i misjudged you, should have tried to know you like the others did, i feel horrible",
"...well things have cleared up now and I'm not mad. you helped in catching the culprit, so were good",
"really?",
"yes",
"…...thank you" she put on a smile and went to join the others,
Loki joined them after a while, " tonight we are knights my friends", he heard thor say,
"ewe that's so lame", loki said while sitting,
"why!, we did a great job in finding the culprits, for days we've been guarding the school, we deserve to call ourselves knights of the school",
"whatever you say, don't include me in it",
"says the one who punched the jerk in the face",
"that was…" he felt like he did something that he shouldn't have to the boy, but he acted out of anger, when he knew that they were the ones who pretended to be his friends in the first year to put the blame on of their doing, he wanted badly to land a punch for revenge,
"i think he deserved it" sif said, "who wouldn't want to punch him, i actually felt satisfied when you did it",
"true he got what he deserve, i mean you endured two years of hatred, he should get more than a punch" thor added,
"I'll help in holding him" volstagg said,
"I'm sure he will have nightmares now of a huge bear hugging him", fandral said,
They laughed, they enjoyed the moments of peace, knowing that they will wake up tomorrow to go through the hell of preparing for the festival.
Loki returned home, not knowing what was waiting for him. eir told him that a couple had decided to adopt mary, he was happy for her, except she wasn't. it took them a while to convince her that it will be alright and that she will have a mother and a father. but it worked out in the end. The couple were to pick her up on Friday, it will be lonely from now on, just him and eir.
He reached his home and opened the door, Eir heard the door closing and stood up to go to see him.
"loki can i talk to you for a moment?",
"sure lady eir",
She told him to sit down, she had a serious look on her face, Loki's started pounding, this didn't felt good,
"this is hard" she said nervously "you must have noticed by now that there is no more childrens coming here right", loki nodded "well you see loki, the company that owns this orphanage had decided to close when the last child gets adopted, and mary is leaving this Friday and….." her eyes teared "we will have to clear the building next week",
"but I'm still here",
"i know, but they decided to assign you in another orphanage, they said that they can not keep the orphanage open for one child…...I'm so sorry loki, i tried to tell them not to do it, but i couldn't",
"where is this orphanage?",
"in the nearby town",
"but i want to stay here",
"I'm sorry", tears were falling on her cheeks,
"then why don't you adopt me? This way i can stay in here",
"loki you know i can't give you the life you desire, you know that me and my husband are in bad situation because of debts", loki couldn't answer to that "the place is great loki, i looked it up myself, I'm sure you will find it better than here, and I'm sure that someone will come for you in there and things will get better",
"you have been saying that for my whole life now and we both know that no one will come….especially that I'm very old now….so stop saying that, it's annoying",
"loki please don't lose hope",
"hope…never had it",
"loki", she didn't know what to do, he fear had came true,
"don't worry lady eir, I will not cause you trouble, i will go to the orphanage, good night", he stood up and went to his room leaving eir crying.
