Author's note: I'm back! I do not own the Stargate, nor do I do any of this for profit. Up until now must of this fan-fic has been following the original storyline very closely. Starting with season two I will be diverging from the storyline a bit, so expect unexpected expected unexpected stuff. :) I just love to play with words. Also I would love to hear your comments, reviews, and and any suggestions!
Chapter Fifteen
The Serpents Lair
Unconscious and dead Jaffa were strewn across the room, smoke still rose from a few. The attack on Earth was already under way. Skaara was dead. We had failed, on so many levels.
Groaning came from the door behind us as it began to buckle inwards. No doubt there were dozens of enemy soldiers on the other side working tirelessly to get in.
"Teal'c," Jack stood and ran to the Jaffa, "is there any other way out of here?"
"None." He replied solemnly.
Jack began to visibly panic, something he almost never did. "Come on buddy, work with me here." he pleaded.
"Goa'uld peltacs were not designed with escape in mind."
"Great. This is turning out to be a bad day." Jack mumbled. "Take cover!" He shouted as the jaffa finally managed to open the door up a crack.
I grabbed my hand gun out of Skaara's already cold hands and numbly aimed it at the door. The sarcophagus acted as a makeshift shield for me while the others took cover behind the control console. The jaffa on the other side of the door chucked a ball like object into the room.
"Shield your eyes!" Teal'c managed to get out.
I whipped my head around and squeezed my eyes shut, only to have an ear splitting screech shear through my brain a few seconds later.
Blackness.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Blackness.
A hand was touching my face. My eyes flew open and I slapped the person away. In the dimly lit chamber I saw a blurry Jack tumble away with his hands held up in defense.
"Jack!"
"Take it easy Erin, we're in some kind of cell." He said.
Something was off about his eyes. I was right in front of him and yet he was looking at the space next to me.
"Whats wrong with your eyes?" I asked noticing that Teal'c, Sam and Daniel seemed to be having the same problem.
"We're blind." Daniel grumbled with his head in hands.
"But you're not?" Sam's question was more of a statement. "You must not have taken the full blast."
"Lucky me." I said standing and walking around the perimeter of our cell. "It looks like we're shut up in here tight."
"Right now they're getting ready to wipe out the major cities of Earth." Daniel stared forward hopelessly. "It'll be done from orbit, out of reach.
Jack tried to calm him. "Now Daniel..."
"I know this Jack!" He snapped. "I've been through it all before."
Sam intervened, the last thing we needed was fighting between us. "They haven't started the attack yet, which means there's still tim..."
She was cut off by the swish of an opening door. What had previously been a solid wall broke apart to let a heavily armored jaffa with a serpent mask followed by three unmasked jaffa through.
He raised his arm and pointed at me. "Her." his grave voice commanded nothing but obedience.
As the men came forward to seize me I was no longer in the prison cell, I was back on Chulack watching Sha're being drug away screaming. I was as helpless then as I was now.
The men's hard grips slamming down on my arms broke me out of my flashback.
"Where are you taking her?!" Jack roared climbing unsteadily to his feet, only to receive a face full of staff weapon.
"Erin!" Daniel yelled and he and Sam stumbled blindly towards me.
Teal'c had better luck. He managed to get a hold of one of the jaffa and swiftly knocked him to the ground. However the next moment the head jaffa whipped out a zat and unleashed the blue stream of electricity on Teal'c.
Why didn't the jaffa use his staff?
There was no further time to ponder this as I was drug out of the cell. The door closed behind us, the screams and pounding of my team echoing down the corridor.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
After countless turns the head jaffa punched a code into the wall, opening it into an empty chamber.
The wall closed back up behind us. No one followed us in. I waited a few moments, but there was no reveal of some big bad that had been hiding. There was just us. I started to tremble as I imagined what they planned to do with me.
Clinking echoed around the room as the head jaffa's mask retracted away from his face.
"Bra'tac?!" I screamed in relief, nearly running over and hugging the old warrior I had met when my team had returned to Chulack for Teal'c's son. Now it made sense why he had shot Teal'c with his zat and not his staff.
Bra'tac nodded to the men still holding my arms and they released me. "Erin, of New York." He pressed his fist to his heart and slightly bowed his head in greeting.
This time I did run to Bra'tac and hug him, startling the old man. "What's going on?" I asked stepping was from the shocked jaffa.
He sighed, for the first time since I had met him he seemed his age. "It was foolish for your people to come here." Then he straightened himself. "I have been ordered to prepare you for the ceremony of implantation."
A chocking sound escaped my lips as this news sent me reeling.
"This is an order I plan to ignore." His said placing a comforting hand on my shoulder. "One of many to come. You must be kept away and out of sight." Bra'tac glanced at the three men standing on either side of me.
"But why? Shouldn't have Klorel's orders have died with him?" I asked. The sight of Skaara lying motionless with a pool of blood speadig out under him flared up in my mind.
"He will rise again." Bra'tac stated confidently.
"How...?" Then I realized. "The sarcophagus. You put him in the sarcophagus."
"Yes. Now you will remain here with Kalen, one of my most trusted followers while the rest of my men and I try to stop this campaign against your world." Bra'tac swept out of the room with two of the jaffa, leaving the youngest behind with me.
With my world in the balance and the fate of my team uncertain there was no way I was going to just wait it out in here. "I can't just stay here and do..." I ran after them only to have the door slam in my face. "nothing."
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
If I stayed at this long enough I would wear a hole into the granite floor. Back and forth, back and forth, I walked from one side of the room to the other over and over. My fingernails were nearly bitten all the way down.
"Why do you do that?" The young jaffa asked. Kalen had not moved nor relaxed since Bra'tac had left with the other jaffa.
"I can't stand still when I'm nervous. I've never been good at doing nothing. Argh!" I yelled trowing my hands up. "There must be something we can do to help."
Kalen shook his head. "I was ordered to keep you here."
"Come on." Groaning I came to a stop in front of him. "They don't now I'm loose. Right? Doesn't this ship have weapons, shields, something we could sabotage?"
He seemed to think this over, but was not completely swayed yet. "Bra'tac ordered me to keep you safe."
"Do you always do as you're told?"
Author's Note: I know this I kinda short but I didn't want to keep you all waiting to long. I have the rest of this episode already outline so I wont be long before I post the rest.
