Hey everyone! It's been awhile... Don't know if many people are gonna read this or even reread this story but who knows. I decided to rework some of this story and fix mistakes I made before and update the plot. Hopefully I'll have more time to finish this story. I updated the entire story and am now stuck on finishing Chapter 12. But I will finish it! I promise.
I'm just gonna mention Trigger Warning right from the start.
Lucy. The reason she was drinking. The reason she was miserable. Her girlfriend, well not anymore. They had been together for 2 years and today, today of all days, Jane comes home to find her in bed with a red head. The same redhead who works at the precinct and who is Lucy's ex. She had been mad, pissed even, her plans of proposing that weekend had flew right out the window. Ring in her car, romantic plans and a hotel room all gone to waste. She laughed bitterly as she heard Lucy's pathetic cries in her head.
"Baby, I'm home." Jane called out. No response. It was quiet too. Jane didn't like it. She started to walk further into their apartment. "Babe?" Jane yelled, still nothing. She took her coat off and put her keys down and walked into the kitchen. Nothing out of place there, so she went to her bedroom to change.
Maybe Lucy was in the shower, 'hmmm, hot and steamy shower sex', Jane chuckled at her though. Just as she reached for the door knob, she heard her girlfriends voice, "Harder, baby. Fuck me harder!"
'What the fuck?!' Jane thought as she opened the door. There was Lucy alright, but Jane wasn't the one causing her pleasure. "Get out!" Jane yelled, "Get out! Get out!". "Jane!" Lucy said as she sat up and covered herself. 'This was not happening' she thought as she grabbed her robe and put it on.
"Jane, please baby it's not what it looks like. Janie please, wait." Lucy cried, following Jane down the hall and into the living room. Jane wasn't listening. She was too busy grabbing her keys, her gun and her coat. She couldn't be here right now. She needed to leave before she did something she would regret. "No. I want you out by the time I get back." Jane said calmly. If you knew Jane, then you knew that when she was calm like this, you should stay clear of her and listen. When she was really mad, she never screamed, she just became very calm. Lucy gulped. She did it now. She couldn't lose Jane, she just couldn't.
"Jane…" Lucy whispered, trying to reach for her. But Jane stepped back and opened the door. "No. You have until tomorrow to pack your crap and leave." Jane said as she shut the door.
Jane shook her head. She needed to stop thinking about it. It was just gonna piss her off more. She picked up her beer bottle and threw the rest back. She checked her phone to make sure her text to her boss went through. 'Hey, I need a few days off. Sorry for the short notice' wasn't the best way to do it but oh well. He can yell at her when she goes back.
The robber was quiet tonight. Then again, it was only 8pm and it was bound to get packed soon. College kids recently started coming to this place during the week. She didn't know when this place had gotten so popular.
She sat in her regular spot, the corner at the bar close to the door. Allowing her to see who came in and left. She didn't think the bitch would come here but you could never be too careful. After her 3rd beer and 2nd shot she switched to water, didn't want to be too intoxicated to drive, and started watching the people around her. She watched a girl pour her beer over some guys head for checking out a different girl who was walking by. She watched the people staring aimlessly at the giant TV screen, Red Sox were up by two and it was the beginning of the 6th. She saw men and women come and go with potential "dates" for the night while others sat with friends, buying drinks and laughing over an inside joke.
No one seemed to notice her and no one seemed to catch her attention for longer than 30 seconds. She heard the bell above the door and turned to look who it was. A short, honey blonde, clad in jeans and an oversized sweatshirt hanging off her frame with the hood up walked in. she stopped for a second and looked around the bar. Looking for a place to sit or for someone specific, Jane couldn't be sure.
The blonde finally settled on a place to sit. The only seat at the bar open was the one next to Jane. She made her way over, head hanging down. Trying not to make eye contact with anyone. She sat down and breathed. Her elbows resting on the bar and her head fell in her hands. Her sleeves rolled down a little and Jane caught a glance at the bruises lining her arms. Jane heard the slight whimpers and knew this girl was crying, over what, she had no idea. The girl reached her hand into her sweatshirt pocket and stiffened.
The poor girl looked like she had been through the ringer with fear and lost. "What can I get you love?" the bartender asked. The girl barley looked up, "I uh don't have any money..."
The bartender just stood there. Jane shook her head and took pity on them. "Andy, can I get a jack and coke? And whatever she wants." She turned to the girl, "what do you want to drink? How bout a water to start?" The girl nodded. Keeping her head down.
Andy came back with the drinks and Jane gave him cash. She passed the water glass to the girl. "Bottoms up" she joked and took a sip of her drink. The girl grabbed her glass. Hands shaking as she brought it to her lips.
"I'm Jane by the way. What's your..." Jane started but cut herself off when she caught of the girls swollen eye and gasped. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm uh... I'm fin-" The girl didn't realize she was crying again.
"Shhh… It's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you. I just want to make sure you're aright", Jane said.
The girl's shoulders shook harder as the tears kept falling. Jane hesitantly reached out to rub the girls back.
"Hey Bryce, get back here and bus these tables," Andy yelled. The girls head snapped to the side. Eyes wild, searching. "No..." she breathed out. She knocked the glass on the off the bar and jumped out of her seat when it shattered on the floor.
Jane stood up to help steady her but the girl took off as fast as she could, nearly dodging people on her way out the door.
'I can't let her get away' Jane thought as she took off right behind the girl. "Wait! Fuck." Jane followed behind her for a good 3 blocks and thanked God when the girl turned right into an alley.
"Hey", Jane called out. The girl turned and had a deer caught in the headlights look. The girl tried to find an exit but was blocked in. Every step Jane took the girl took one backwards until her back hit a brick wall. Jane got closer and was able to catch the girl just in time as she passed out. "Oh shit, what am I gonna do?" Jane breathed out. This was turning into a very interesting night.
Sorry I posted this again, I realized I didn't post the actually updated one. My bad...
