Hey guys! Here is a new update! There might be a surprise at the end. Not sure yet... guess we'll wait and see.

"Rizzoli" Jane groaned as she answered the buzzing phone. She was dead asleep when the call came in.

"Jane where the hell are you?" Frost yelled through the jumped out of bed and walked towards the hallway. Maura had fell back asleep maybe 2 hours ago and she wasn't about to wake her now because Frost couldn't talk on the phone like a civilized person.

"Geeze Frost, who are you my mother?" Jane responded. She wasn't happy.

"What the hell Jane? Cavanaugh has been on my ass all morning because you aren't here. Where are you and when are you coming in?" Frost continued to yell.

"Would you stop the yelling Frost, you're giving me a headache. I texted Cavanaugh last night that I needed a few days off." Jane huffed. This was not happening right now. She walked into the kitchen and got herself a glass of water. She definitely not going to sleep after this, she could tell.

"He said and I quote, 'You tell Jane Rizzoli that if she's not in my office by noon, she is suspended'. I don't know what you did to piss him off but you did a really good job of it."

"Of course he did. Ugh. Frost I can't come to work. I have someone here..."

"Well, tell Lucy to calm down and you'll be back later. She's not worth losing your job over."

Jane laughed bitterly,"Its not Lucy." She sighed, "but this one might be worth just that."

Frost's eyes went wide. "You better give me all the details like now."

Jane sat down at her counter and sighed. "Okay. I met her at the bar last night. She looked really distraught. I was talking to her when I noticed her bruised face. Then something, like she saw a ghost and bolted. So i chased her to make sure she was okay and she passed out in my arms. I bought her back to my penthouse and called Sasha. Turns out this girl is a victim of domestic violence. Sasha had to stitch multiple wounds on her body. She kept begging me not to take her to the hospital or to the police and I agreed. She's here now, finally asleep."

"So you're going against all protocol that you know? That's not a smart move Jane." Frost sighed. Jane had a big heart. Sometimes that heart got in the way of her rational thinking.

"Yeah I know, I know."

"You need to get down here and have her talk with Remey." Frost almost demanded. He was going to send a text to Remey when she got off the phone with Jane. He knew Jane would stall in calling her. So he was going to do it for her. Jane can hate him all she wanted. But he was saving her ass whether she knew it or not.

" I don't think that being in a crowded area would be good for her."

"Jane, she need's to get a case started. Come on. Be a cop for a second."

" Frost, she's afraid of her own shadow right now. I don't want to make her more uncomfortable."

"Jane, her being uncomfortable is going to be the least of your worries when her partner finds her and hurts you and her, or worse."

Jane thought for a second. "You're right Frost."

"Please Jane, I'm always right." Frost laughed.

" Alright whatever Frost. Tell Cavanaugh that I will be in. I have a few words for him. I'll see you soon. Bye partner." She hung up the phone and nearly slammed it on the counter. Who the hell did Cavanaugh thing he was? She texted him last night. It wasn't exactly late when she sent that message. He could have called her anytime since then to talk to her about it but no. He had to demand she come to work this morning. "This cannot be happening" she groaned and held her head in her hair cascaded all around her and blocked her view of the person who was quietly walking into the kitchen.

Blinking her eyes, Maura started to wake up. She wasmomentarily confused about where she was and then remembered Jane and all that she had done for her in ldss than twenty four hours of knowing her. She remembered falling asleep on Jane's chest and wondered why she was alone in the bed. Sitting up, Maura scanned the room. Earlier, she never got a good look at where Jane lived. The room was relatively big, almost as big as her and Bryce's room. She shuddered at the thought of Bryce. Shaking away the thoughts, Maura went back to scanning the room. It was clean, not a lot of personal effects. The walls were a light beige with some art work that Maura recognized as her mothers.

"Must be rich", she thought.

Turning her head to the night table, she was an alarm clock that was blinking 9:45 in green numbers. Next to it was a small lamp and a picture of two women. One she recognized as Jane but she didn't know the other.

'Maybe she has a girlfriend. God Maura, what did you think? Jane's attractive, it's a good possibility. Did you really think that she would fall for someone like you anyway? You're just a waste of time.' she thought.

Turning her focus to the door, she heard Jane talking to someone.

"I don't think that being in a crowded area would be good for her." Whispering Jane said, "Frost, she's afraid of her own shadow right now. I don't want to make her more uncomfortable." After a few minutes Jane grumbled, "Alright whatever Frost. Tell Cavanaugh that I will be in. I have a few words for him. I'll see you soon. Bye partner."

Standing up, Maura decided to walk into the kitchen. Slowly making her way through the bedroom door, she wrapped her arms around her chest and scanned the room for any threats. It would be a while until she could walk anywhere without looking for any threats or Bryce to pop out of nowhere.'It's truly pathetic'she thought as she continued into the kitchen.

Jane was sitting at the counter. Her elbows were on the counter and her head was resting in her hands. Her black hair was covering her entire face and she sat there in silence. The floor creaked under Maura, startling her. Jane looked to the noise and gave a soft smile. Maura looked up at Jane and returned the small smile.

"Hey Maur. I'm sorry if I woke you." Jane said apologetically as she looked up from he hands.

"I was already up Jane. Please don't worry about it." Maura gently responded. She was playing with the hem of her t shirt.

"Well are you hungry? We can get something here or go out for something. What would you prefer?"

"Here, please."

"Okay, so how about some breakfast sandwiches? Bacon, egg and cheese on a plain bagel sound good?" Jane asked as she grabbed her phone from the counter.

"Sounds good Jane."

"Perfect, I'll text in our order and then we can get dressed and head out." Jane absent mindlessly dropped the last part while sending the text.

"Out?" Maura questioned.

"Yeah. I'm sorry Maura, I have to head into work and I need to take you with me-"

"No." Maura stated firmly. Jane would have been shocked hearing Maura's strong response had she not already been anticipating it.

"Maura.." Way to go about it lightly Jane.

"No, Jane. You promised me. I'm not going." Maura was nearly in tears. She kept her focus on the ground. She didn't want to seem like a child but she didn't want to go.

"Maura, look at me." Jane got up from her seat and slowly made her way to Maura. "Maura, please. I have to head to the office to talk to my boss and I can't leave you here alone. Please, it won't take longer than an hour and after we can grab food for lunch and come back here. I promise Maura. If I wasn't in potential jeopardy of losing my job for some god forsaken reason which makes absolutely no sense to me whats so ever, I would just say fuck it and not go in. But I have to. Just please Maura." Jane begged.

Maura thought for a moment. 'God Maura. You can't keep doing this. Jane has a job. Stop being so pathetic.' She looked back up at Jane and nodded. Then turned slowly walked back into the bedroom to find her clothes from yesterday.

Jane sighed as Maura walked away. She didn't want to force Maura's hand but in the back of her mind she knew Frost was right. She needed to get this guy out of Maura's life permanently.

The office Jane worked in was bright and cheery despite all of the depressing and horrifying cases that come these desks on a daily bases. The windows allowed the natural light from the sun to flow through. The walls were painted a light blue and the furniture looked comfortable. 'How many distressedpeople sat in these same seats on what was the worst day of their lives?' Maura thought.

Jane placed her hand on the back of Maura's back, trying to gently get her attention. "Maura, you can sit here while I'm talking to my boss. This is my partner Barry Frost. He's gonna sit with you okay?"

"Jane don't leave me, please." Maura whispered. She didn't want to be alone. She wanted to be back in the apartment with Jane.

"Maura, I promise I will be back as fast as I can." Jane tried. "Frost is my best friend and I trust him with my life. He's a good guy Maura, I swear."

Maura looked at the ground and nodded. She walked towards the large plush couch under the window. She looked so small on the couch. Jane walked to her and knelt in front of her. She put her hand right on Maura's knee. "Maura." she tried. "I will be right back. If you need me for any reason, tell Frost and he will come get me." Jane held up her left hand with her pinky finger extended. Maura looked at it for a moment before she hooked her pinky around Jane's. Jane smiled and gave Maura's finger a gently squeeze and kissed the back of her hand. She released Maura's finger and stood up. Frost was watching the entire scene with confusion.

"Frost, you don't leave her side for a second, do you understand?" Jane growled as she headed towards Cavanaugh's office.

"I got you Jane." Frost responded took a seat on the couch. Far enough so he wasn't in Maura's personal space but close enough so she knew he was there.

Jane raised her hand in acknowledgement and kept walking. she wanted to turn around to double check on Maura but she knew if she did that she would not leave her. So she just kept walking. She kept walking down the hall and around the corner until she was directly in front of Cavanaugh's office.

'Oh this is gonna be fun' Jane thought as she knocked on the door.
