Chapter 17
Vase Of Screams
Disclaimer: Hey yo, hey yo! Its time for an all new chapter of 'Year One!' And this time featuring something (though slightly changed) I've had in mind awhile now. A long, long while.
August 13th, 2011, Laurel's Apartment
"Okay… Maybe I should have gotten some professionals to do this." Muttered Laurel as she watched from the inside of her apartment as Tommy and Oliver tried to get a new couch in there.
"Nah! We've got this! Stop worrying!" Tommy declared as he briefly looked back at her with what was supposed to be an encouraging smile.
Is it necessarily a bad thing that I'm doing this instead of out looking for Stalk, again? Wondered Oliver to himself as he held on to his end of the couch.
As ever since that piece of garbage had murdered the Wheelbound Gang on live television, Oliver and his allies/friends had been trying to find the man and his bunch with little to no success much to their immense ire. Thea had still been pretty inconsolable over the whole thing as many in the group had been friends of her's after she had joined them some time ago. And had made a promise at their funerals to carry on the name of the gang. Something she had wanted to also do on live television as a way to get back at the man who butchered her friends but her mother had been a little terrified of that idea and its repercussions. Letting out a sigh as he briefly caught Laurel's look of doubt, Oliver spoke. "Tommy, maybe we should let someone with more experience at this kind of thing handle it."
Tommy however, just scoffed at that. "And fail as manly men to pull this off? I think not! Now, push!" Demanded the Merlyn Scion, causing his best friend to roll his eyes.
"If my doorway or anything else gets broken, you guys are paying for it." Threatened Laurel.
"Relax, nothing's gonna get broken!"
Oliver kept quiet and whether it was because of something Tommy did or a bit of luck or whatever it could have been, a hard push on his part would see the new couch finally getting all the way inside. Though Tommy would end up bumping into a nearby shelving unit and cause a blue/yellow vase to fall off and shatter. "Tommy!" Groaned Laurel as he winced.
"That was not my fault by the w-oomph!" Yelled Oliver as he and his two friends were knocked back by a mysterious scream that came from out of no where.
One that shattered a window as Laurel looked to be having a coughing fit as the two boys were unfortunately knocked out by the experience. Thankfully allowing them to miss what came next from Laurel's own mouth.
Elsewhere, In Nanda Parbat Sometime Later
A limping Sara Lance made her way to the dead field of land where Ra's had been awaiting her. Whatever he wanted her for, the young woman wasn't too sure of and a small part of her was nervous about it. "Master Ra's, I've come as per your request." She stated, firmly quashing any nervousness she may have felt as she spoke.
Ra's turned to her and nodded in approval. "Excellent. I needn't ask how your last assignment went or you wouldn't be here."
"It was mission complete, Master." Even if she did get a little banged up!
The long lived man nodded in approval of this and was about to speak on why he wished to have her here with him. As it largely regarded her next assignment for the League of Assassins when his hearing picked up on something. Making him look for wherever the sound was and for Sara to do the same. "Is that… Screaming?" Wondered the former Starling City native in confusion.
"It is."
And it sounded vaguely familiar to Ra's as well as both looked together in the direction of where the screaming was coming from but could see nothing. Even when it grew louder until it struck Sara and sent her flying backwards to the ground. The sudden impact took all the air from her lungs and it was not a pleasant feeling either as she coughed violently as Ra's watched on, curious of the whole thing. It was then the same loud scream from before was heard again, but this time, from Sara's own mouth and it was fortunate that Ra's was not in its path as there was quite the power to it as it tore some of the ground up! "Hmm… An unexpected development. But one I welcome as I have not heard such a sound in years." Remarked the man with a faint smile on his lips as his daughter's paramour breathed heavily with a look of shock on her face.
His mind already coming up with ideas for training exercises for her new ability.
Author's Notes: Felt good to finally get this out! I know its silly that the sisters got the Canary Cry from a vase but I thought it'd be neat to do. Not to worry, I have an explanation in mind that'll be covered in the next chapter. Which hopefully won't take too long for me to do.
