Chapter 19

In Blackest Night

And Crimson Red

Part 1

Disclaimer: And here we are with an all new chapter for 'Year One'! Also featuring something of a take on the 'Green Lantern' animated series.

September 20th, 2011, Coast City's Ferris Air Company

In the late evening of the day, only one person remained at Ferris Air in their office with but a desk lamp on for a primary source of light. Crying could be heard from one Carol Ferris as she sat at her desk, holding onto a framed picture of Hal Jordon. Whom had gone missing months ago and was believed to be dead by this point in time. The day especially had not been a good one for her in any shape or form and when she had looked at his framed picture once she had gotten into her office with the intent of heading home for the night, her emotions had boiled over. No longer able to contain them and part of her wishing Oliver had been there to help out in some way. As it is, it had been several weeks since she had seen or spoken with Oliver for longer than a minute and Carol was starting to feel that maybe it was just time for them to finally go their separate ways.

Regardless of whether or not she still felt something for him. Oh Hal… I miss you so much!

It was at that point, that a bright pink light began to shine in her office, drawing her attention away from Hal's picture to the source of it. To her fear and amazement, she saw what looked to be another location entirely with a being that could only be described as Alien as a pink source of light swirled around the image and would be surprised when a pink ring flew through the image. "Carol Ferris of Space Sector 2814, you have lost your True Love but the Star Sapphires bring an offer to make your heart whole again by becoming one of us." Came a feminine voice that seemed to come entirely from the ring.

Making Carol wonder if perhaps she had fallen asleep and was now having a very bizarre dream now. "I… This, this can't be possible."

"With Love, anything is possible." Replied the ring as it floated towards her and down to her hand.

And before she could do anything, it slipped on to her finger and she watched in amazement as it transformed her clothes into a dark pink outfit that was quite revealing. "Oh… Oh my..."

Even at her most daring she wouldn't have worn something like this as she found herself being pulled towards where the ring had come from with a dash of fear flowing through her. And before she knew it, she was… Elsewhere. Somewhere that looked very alien and it helped that the alien like being she'd seen moments ago was in the room waiting for her. "Greetings, sister!"

Carol's eyes widened in shock as she hadn't expected that! "I… I can understand you!?" Was English somehow common in the universe!?

The alien being, a female at that, just smiled at her. "With the ring you now bear, sister, communication is so much more easier between two very different races so long as you wear it."

"Oh… That's… That's amazing." Breathed out Carol as she stared at the ring on her finger.

"It truly is. I, sister, am Queen Aga'po and I am most happy to welcome you to the planet of Zamaron. The home of the Star Sapphires."

She's a Queen!? Am I supposed to bow?

"Do… Do I bow? And really, this is another planet entirely? And uhh, I'm Carol Ferris of Earth, CEO of Ferris Air."

The Queen chuckled. "No, there is no need for bowing between sisters, sister. And yes, you are indeed truly on another planet."

"I… Wow."

If this was a dream, she didn't want to wake up thanks to how amazing it is! But then Hal and even Oliver came to mind and sadness swept through her. And it must have shown on her face for the Queen asked what troubled her. "Oh, I, I don't want to bother you with my… Troubles." Near whispered Carol.

Aga'po smiled gently at her and wrapped her in a hug for a moment before releasing her. "You won't be troubling me, sister. Speaking of what ails you to a fellow Star Sapphire allows us to better help you." Promised the Queen.

Now whether it was because she'd already been having quite the emotional night or something else, Carol wasn't sure of, but she would end up telling the Queen her troubles. Namely of Hal's loss and where things were with Oliver. As she neared finishing her troubles, her ring would cause two images to appear to her surprise. "What… What is this?"

For the two men were both unfamiliar to her but Carol was certain the one with the hood was the one spoken of in the news that operated in Starling City where Oliver lives. The hooded one's methods in comparison to the man with the green glow around him was a lot less kinder. Engrossed as she was, Carol missed the narrowed eyed look the Queen was giving the green glowing man. Whom also was in some kind of room. Then, to Carol's surprise, the images revealed the two to be Oliver and Hal! "Oliver!? Hal!?" She got out in stunned disbelief.

Hal's been alive all this time!? How could he not have said anything!? How could he let everyone think he's dead when he's not!? And Oliver… Did, did you know about this!?

Anger swelled up in the new Star Sapphire as a low rumbling was heard and another female voice sounded out in alarm. But Carol paid this no attention as she found herself using her new found power to pull Oliver to where she was. "What the Hell!?" He asked in alarm and suspicion as he had no idea what the Hell had just happened!

"Hello, Oliver."

The greeter made him cautiously turn to the source of it and his eyes widened at the dark pink wearing woman and the strange beings near by. "Who are you!? Where am I!?"

Another rumbling sound reverbarated through out the area but Carol paid it no mind as she narrowed her eyes at Oliver. "You're on the planet of Zamaron and its me, Carol. The woman you've been hiding secrets from and lying too for months! ESPECIALLY WHERE HAL IS CONCERNED!" She roared out and fired off a beam of energy at her would be lover.

Forcing him to dodge and deal with his shock at the same time. "I don't know what you're talking about!" Tried the man and was sneered at as she kept trying to attack him.

"DON'T. YOU. LIE. TO. ME!" Carol screamed and getting a lucky shot in, managed to get him down and long enough to unmask him.

"And the truth shall set you free, Oliver." She told him coldly.

Part of her wanting to do nothing more than to hurt him as much as possible thanks to her anger taking hold of her. "Carol, I need you to calm down! Whatever's going on with you, its, its controlling you!"

She hissed at him as more rumbling was heard. "NOTHING IS CONTROLLING ME! I HAVE MERELY HAD ENOUGH OF BEING LIED TOO!"

"Sister, you need to calm down for we are under attack!" Came a female voice but she paid it no mind.

What happened next however would see to it that Carol would thankfully snap out of her anger when Oliver suddenly moved and prevented her from being hit by falling debris. Just as a certain green glowing man arrived on the scene…

Author's Notes: Well, this was a bit different than what I always had in mind but I think it works.
