Chapter 22
Love And Unity
VS. Hate
Disclaimer: Here we are, the final chapter. Even if I should have gotten to this point a long while back but oh well!
December 5th 2011
After Oliver's unintended trip to a whole other planet back in September, life continued on for the young archer and even breaking through Laurel's fears where her new pitch in screaming was concerned. Though a lot of that had to do with Ted Grant's involvement considering his years of living and having experienced a few things thanks to a certain talk Oliver had had with him and the others where she was concerned after she first got her power. Late October had saw the surprise return of Sara Lance and with that brought a few of its own issues. And some confusion when she chose to work at Merlyn Global once legally brought back from the dead as a secretary there as part of her mission from Ra's in order to discover if certain whispers about Malcolm had any sort of truths to them. Oliver's double life as the Green Arrow continued onward and had even openly teamed up with Carol in her Star Sapphire role.
Leading to a lot of speculation and theorizing as to how she was able to do what she could with a ring of all things. It had helped that she had been busying herself in Coast City by going out as Star Sapphire and getting known to the public there with her heroics. Stalk continued to cause problems for the city and was still proving quite hard for Oliver and his team to find much to their annoyance. A team that would interestingly enough, include Laurel thanks in part to Ted pushing for it and that certainly caused an interesting conversation or two to happen between her and Oliver. And thanks in part to Sara's return, Sin would start hanging around more due to Sara's promise to her father on Lian Yu shortly before his death on the crashed plane. Oliver even had a few run ins with a Blonde black clad woman in the Glades a few times that had left him frustrated due to how she had easily handed him his own ass. The fact she was capable of a Cry like Laurel had at first made him think it was Laurel but after some thought on it, he realized it couldn't have been her.
Primarily on account of the differences in chins, heights, and skillsets. Things would come to a head however when Stalk on the beginning of December, hijacked a signal and declared his intentions to march on Little Vibe with his organization and bring that section of the city to its end. And to make it harder on the local Police, he'd been having his people cause all sorts of problems in the city so that the Police would be ran ragged. Effectively leaving Little Vibe without defenders from Law Enforcement when he and his marched on Little Vibe on December 5th. Only, he wasn't counting on thousands to surround the area to prevent them entrance. Among the thousands including Carol's purple light barrier to make it that much harder on Stalk and his organization to get into Little Vibe. "As you can see, you aren't getting anywhere near this place! So pack up and get the Hell out of here!" Sebastian Blood told Stalk dead seriously.
On his left was Oliver and Ted with Maseo and John Diggle on his right, all four with arms crossed and ready to fight if need be. Others of their group of friends and family minus Moira and Sara for one reason or another were elsewhere in the blockade around Little Vibe. "You think a few of you morons and a fancy light show is gonna stop me from destroying this pathetic section of the city and ensuring that the Right Way of thinking is finally embraced? Because if so, you're all bigger idiots than I thought." Sneered Stalk.
Oliver stepped up in front of the hateful man. "Your way is not the so called right way. Your way only preaches hate."
"You say its hate, I say its not because I know its the truth, unlike you, Queen."
"Then I guess we're gonna have to strongly disagree on that then."
Stalk scowled at him while promising some dark pain on the man in front of him in his mind. "If you won't move out of my way... THEN YOU'LL ALL DIE!" Bellowed Stalk.
"ATTACK!"
Oliver wasn't able to avoid being slugged in the mouth by the bigger man as his organization began to move on the LVDs. Allowing for all out war to effectively begin as Love and Unity fought back against Hate while Stalk's distractions ensured it would be a bit before any member of Law Enforcement got there. Stalk kept up his attack on Oliver and the archer was strongly wishing he had brought something with him like a knife to give the man some pain as a distraction so that he could get a few hits in. Ted managing to get to the two of them helped Oliver somewhat as Ted's help got Stalk's attention on him. "It doesn't matter how many of you there are, my Righteous Path will see to it I'll crush you all!"
"EMBRACE THE HATE!"
"I'll pass on dat, partner!" Ted told him with a right hook followed by Oliver giving him a left hook.
But Stalk ignored the pain with practiced ease as he wiped away the blood from his mouth and chuckled at the two. With a grunt, he charged at them and Ted quickly moved out of the way but Oliver wasn't as lucky as he ended up getting speared straight into a nearby large window of an office building. Loud groans came from Oliver as that shit had hurt, damnit! "That's merely the beginning, Queen!" Sneered Stalk.
"Is it too late tah cancel!?" Ted asked before slugging the bigger man.
Allowing Oliver some needed time to get up as while outside, the fighting was beginning to cause destruction and even fires to start up. Said fires even beginning to cause the building the three men were currently in to become ablaze. "The fires that come will cleanse filth like you!"
"I think we'd rather be unwashed if its all the same to you." Oliver told Stalk as he did a leg sweep that knocked the man down.
Ted quickly struck the downed figure in the head with his boot in an attempt to knock him out but unfortunately, it did little other than make him bleed. It was seconds later that Ted found himself on the floor with a groan. "It'll take something stronger than that to take ME down. I am filled with my Righteous Path and all that it has made me endure over the years. I WILL NOT BE STOPPED!"
To Oliver's horror, he watched as Stalk chokeslammed his friend before letting out a yell and jumped on his back to get in a few hits. The former castaway hung on as tightly as he could as the bigger man tried to get him off of him. Moving about wildly as he did so as smoke began to fill the building and the heat could be felt. Oliver thought he could hear sirens coming but given his current situation he couldn't give it much focus or he'd be in even deeper trouble. Stalk's attempts to get the infuriating Unity lover off his back eventually saw the two falling through a door and down a flight of steps to what was likely the basement. Groans came from the two as they got to their feet, one having a bit more trouble than the other and when he realized he had something rather large and heavy his hand, not realizing it was a rather large heavy duty wrench thanks in part to the smoke blocking out whatever light was upstairs, he swung it at the other man. Causing a loud smack and a yell of pain to come from the other. Along with some crashing. "I don't know what the Hell that was, but I'm gonna be thankful for it none the less." Muttered Oliver to himself and coughed some.
"Stalk, you can either come with me and be arrested so that you can be tried for your actions or stay here and burn to death." Called out Oliver.
Not wanting the other man's death on his conscience, even if he was an utter piece of shit given his views. Cold laughter rang through out the room before Stalk's voice was heard. "I would rather burn away than to be judged by those who have no place to judge me!"
A sigh came from the archer as that wasn't something he wanted to hear and before he knew it, found himself pinned to the ground by the bigger man. Oliver tried to get him off but it was no use, especially as his weapon was no longer within his grasp. "Hah! We'll burn away together, Queen!"
The last place I want to die is with a piece of shit like you, Stalk. So if there really is a God out there, PLEASE help me!
And as if to answer his prayer, several gunshots rang out and Stalk grunted before chuckling. "Guess I should have worn that body armor after all." He said with a cough and Oliver felt something wet, most likely his blood, fall on his face and he couldn't help but shudder over it as what the archer thought was Carol's Ring Light filled the room somewhat.
"Come on, let's get him off of you." Came John Diggle's voice.
"I can help with that, John." Came Carol's voice and using some of her power, moved Stalk off of a grateful Oliver.
"Thank God." Muttered Oliver gratefully as John helped him up.
"I think it best we get out of here!"
The two men were quick to agree with Carol and got out as fast as they could with Carol using her power once again to keep them protected from the harmful effects of the fire. Leaving behind Stalk's body in the basement of the building they were in as they did so. "I think I need a vacation." Oliver called out, earning a few chuckles in the process.
A Little Bit Later
"Well, I've really gotta hand it to ya, you really know how to make a mess." Grumbled Detective Lance to Oliver.
"Hey, the important thing is, is that Little Vibe is safe from that man and his thugs, dad." Laurel told her father a tad reproachfully.
Gaining quite a few agreements in the process from those around her and Oliver. Quentin just sighed, knowing it was pointless to try and argue. Especially when his eldest was right. "Yeah, right."
"Our victory here tonight will hopefully show that Hate like Brian Stalk's is not welcomed here or elsewhere. And will make those who want to try and use such an emotion again to think twice." Maseo said and agreements were had once again.
"That's something we can all agree about and pray for, Maseo." Oliver told him.
"Sooo what now?" Wondered a somewhat exhausted Thea.
Who just knew her mother was gonna have Kittens over her being involved in the fight! But oh well! "I say we party." Immediately threw in Tommy with a smile as he wrapped an arm around Laurel.
Tatsu eyed him for a moment before speaking. "Thomas, I think rest and re-building what has been lost tonight is needed before partying."
Her words got her a pout from the Merlyn Scion but he did have to admit the woman had a point. "And then… I'll take me a vacation 'cause I think I need it."
Laughter rang out from Oliver's words as Emergency Personnel swarmed all around them as Quentin shook his head and took notice of Sebastian Blood talking to several reporters. "Right." Muttered the man.
More like I'm the one who needs a damned vacation.
Author's Notes: And that, as they say, is that. Thank you all for supporting and again sorry for making you all wait so long to get to this point. I want to say this means I'm officially done writing Arrow fanfics but I still have an idea or two running around in my head but we'll see. Will there be a third part to this universe? Probably not but again, we'll see. And I think I might have screwed up on the years too but feel free to tell me I'm wrong. R and R!
