The team was sitting around a table in the café, resting after the battle.
"So, what was that team meeting supposed to be about?" Yang asked as she reached across the table and took one of Ruby's cookies.
Ruby pulled her plate of cookies closer and said "something we should only discuss between the four of us."
"Who is going to overhear us?" Blake asked as she motioned to the empty café.
"Weiss, are you ok with having it here?" Ruby asked.
"I suppose" Weiss said.
"Ok" Ruby said "you guys might have noticed that Weiss has been a little more distant lately, especially in a fight."
"Yeah" Blake said.
"Now that you mention it" Yang said "she has been distancing herself. She hasn't even done any of your team attacks."
"Well" Ruby said "Weiss explained something to me. She wanted to tell you, but was worried you would think she was crazy or just trying to impress you, so she wanted to have a meeting to explain it. That way you'll be more likely to believe it."
"What's on your mind Weiss?" Yang asked.
"Don't be afraid" Blake said "we'll believe anything you tell us."
Weiss sighed and said "I've had the same dream every night for two weeks. As long as I can remember, if I had the same dream for a week or more it seemed to come true somehow. I don't know how to explain it, I didn't believe it myself at first. As time went on it happened time and time again so eventually I came to believe it."
"That's not totally unbelievable" Blake said "several people throughout history have claimed to have premonitions about the future. They have come in all sorts of ways. Visions flashing, subconscious voices or dreams."
"Is that what you wanted to tell us?" Yang asked.
"Part of it" Weiss said "Ruby, can you tell them the rest? Please?"
Ruby nodded as she finished chewing the cookie in her mouth.
"The dream she's been having is scaring her" Ruby said "She keeps dreaming that we're in a fight and she makes a mistake that gets one of us seriously injured. Then the dream changes to three of us crying around a hospital bed with a body covered by a sheet between us."
"That's why you've been keeping your distance?" Yang asked "you're afraid you're going to get one of us killed?"
Weiss nodded, averting her eyes from the rest of the team.
"We knew the danger when we signed up for this" Blake said "death hovering over your shoulder is part of being a huntress."
"Kinda dark, but true" Yang said "Weiss, look at me."
Weiss stared at her coffee cup.
"Weiss" Yang said "please look at me."
Weiss slowly raised her eyes and looked at her.
Yang gave her a warm smile and said "I'll risk my life with you any day. With all we've been through, I wouldn't hesitate to put my life in your hands."
"Same goes for me" Blake said with a nod.
"Me too" Ruby said.
"Let's go home" Yang said "if it makes you feel better, we'll put some time in in the training room."
She punched her fists together in front of her chest smiling.
"Thank you" Weiss said "all of you." She laid enough lien on the table to cover everything and said "let's go."
As they walked back to their house, Ruby jumped on Yang's back and said "piggyback ride!"
She wrapped her legs around her sister's waist and put her arms around Yang's neck. Weiss was surprised that Yang was completely unfazed by the extra weight. She just giggled and tousled Ruby's hair over her shoulder. After a few more steps, Yang slung her right arm around Blake's shoulder and her left arm around Weiss's shoulder. Blake smiled and put her left arm around Ruby's back. Weiss hesitated, then put her right arm around Ruby as well. As they walked back that way, Weiss smiled thinking about how lucky she was to have such a close team at her side. No, a close family at her side. Forgetting about her dream and worries, she leaned on Yang's shoulder and just enjoyed the walk.
When they reached the house, a police officer was standing next to a metal and clear plastic container with the body of a grimm inside from the fight at the square.
"Team RWBY" he said "I was ordered to bring this to your residence and wait with it."
Ruby jumped off Yang's back and said "thanks Sir."
"Do you need help carrying it in?" The officer asked.
Weiss looked at Yang and raised an eyebrow. Yang gave her a quick wink and a smile.
"I don't think so, but thanks" Weiss said.
"Are you sure?" The officer asked
Yang bent down and grabbed the container and hoisted it up onto her shoulder with her arm around it to steady it.
"Eh" she said smiling "I think I can get it. Ruby go in and open the back door to the basement."
"On it" Ruby said as she shot off in a red blur leaving rose petals behind.
"Thanks Officer" Yang said as she walked towards the back door.
Blake walked into the house as she said "I'll get one of Ruby's scalpels and meet you downstairs."
"Thanks again Officer" Weiss said as she walked into the house and shut the door.
"Those are the best defenders Vale has?" the officer said to himself as he took his hat off and scratched his head "looks more like four girls on their way to a college party."
He put his hat on and shook his head as he walked away. Back inside, Ruby had opened the container and was examining the grimm's corpse. Blake and Weiss came down the stairs with several of Ruby's medical instruments. Yang sat at Ruby's work bench and detached her robotic arm and began oiling the moving parts. Ruby began carefully cutting the grimm's arm open to examine the inside. Weiss knelt next to Ruby and watched as she carefully dissected the grimm's arm.
"Ruby, are those veins?" Weiss asked.
"Yes" Ruby said "hey Yang, can you pass me the magnifying glass off the work bench?"
Yang found the magnifying glass and tossed it to Ruby.
Blake caught it just after it left her hand and said "let's not throw glass tools."
She walked over and handed it to Ruby.
"Thanks" she said "can you hold it Weiss?"
Weiss held the magnifying glass over the vein as Ruby looked at it.
"It's an inky liquid" Ruby said "it's not blood, but its not normal for a grimm. It's almost like a living copy or a fake or something. Whoever made it just didn't have the means to make it exactly like the grimm."
Yang reattached her arm as she walked over and said "so someone is making the grimm that are attacking the kingdom?"
"Some of them" Weiss said "some of them are real grimm."
"Who would do that?" Blake asked.
"Someone who either hates the Kingdom of Vale, or wants the rest of the citizens to leave" Weiss said.
"We were just getting the people to come back" Ruby said.
"What are we going to do?" Yang asked.
"We have to find out who's doing it" Blake said "these fake grimm might be what is drawing in the real grimm. Either by looking like a pack to join or by causing fear and despair."
"So" Weiss said "we need to-"
She stopped as a beeping sound filled the room as all of their scrolls went off.
"More grimm?" Yang asked.
"No" Weiss said as she looked at her scroll "it's Glynda Goodwitch. She said she has information for us."
"Let's get to the communication room" Ruby said "we've got some for her too."
