As they walked back into the kitchen, Ruby gasped. She jumped up and almost tackled Jaune in a hug.
"It's great to see you guys" Weiss said.
"Are you guys hungry?" Blake asked.
"Yes!" Nora said.
"We don't want to impose" Ren said "you don't seem to have prepared much extra food."
"We have leftover pizza in the fridge" Yang said "I know it's not the best meal, but-"
"But it is more than enough" Ren interrupted with a smile "thank you."
Nora skipped to the fridge while Yang brought three more chairs into the dining room.
"Which pizza can we have?" Nora asked "there's a bunch of different kinds in here."
"Help yourself" Weiss said "eat whatever pizza you want."
Nora piled pizza onto her plate and flopped down, Jaune had four slices as he sat down. Ren sat down with four slices and smiled.
"So after we eat" Yang said "I guess we'll show you the evidence we have and show you the spots that-"
"Nope!" Nora said "Goodwitch filled us in and showed us footage and pictures. She said our first order of business is to make sure you four don't do anything involving grimm or fighting today or tomorrow."
"Yes" Ren said "after lunch we are going to look at several locations that you have battled in."
"Then to the police station to look at some of the grimm corpses" Jaune said.
"You guys are staying here" Nora said "and doing whatever you do."
"Ok then" Ruby said "so what have you guys been up to?"
"Same old, same old" Nora said with her mouth full "fighting grimm, protecting people and teaching some bad guys some manners."
"And of course doing our best to serve the people any way we can" Ren added.
After Team JNR ate, they gathered their weapons and got ready to leave.
"Before you go" Weiss said "do you want a tour?"
"Tour?" Jaune asked "why would we need a tour?"
"You're staying here aren't you?" Yang asked.
"No, Goodwitch set up a hotel for us" Ren said.
"Absolutely not" Weiss said "you will be staying here. So do you want a tour before you leave?"
"Thank you very much" Ren said with a slight bow.
"We don't have time for the grand tour right now" Jaune said "but I will ask where the rooms we'll be staying are, if that's ok? In case you're asleep when we get back."
"No problem" Weiss said "the door directly at the top of the stairs is the main bathroom. Our rooms are to the left of the bathroom. Nora, you take the first door to the right. Ren take the second and Jaune take the third door to the right."
"Got it" Nora said.
"Thank you" Ren said.
After they left and the table was cleaned off, Ruby smiled and said "Ok, team meeting is officially called to order." She looked at Weiss and said "in all seriousness, we're all worried about you. You haven't been yourself lately, especially on the battlefield. We're all here for you, so please talk to us."
Weiss sighed and said "I know I've let you guys down. Especially this morning."
"We're not counting this morning" Yang said "it was our first time with the human grimm things, civilians were already in serious danger when we got there and a few mistakes caused you to panic and that clouded your judgement."
"Exactly" Weiss said "I panicked and that led to injuries on the team."
"I panicked when the statue fell" Blake said "If I was thinking clearly, I would've summoned a shadow clone to take the hit and used the clone to push myself aside."
"and I seem to remember panicking a little myself when I heard Blake yell" Yang said "which resulted in an ursa smashing me through a wall. It happens to everyone from time to time."
"But you still came back in time to save everyone" Weiss said.
"Any of you would do the same" Yang said "we're a team."
"Yeah" Ruby said "is there anything we can do to help you regain your confidence?"
"I wish I knew" Weiss said.
"Well" Blake said "if there's anything we can do, don't hesitate to tell us." She gave Weiss a skeptical look and asked "is that all that's bothering you?"
Weiss' eyes flashed uncertainty.
"Remember when you made me promise to tell you guys when something was wrong?" Blake asked "now it's your turn. So what's wrong?"
"Well, there is something else" Weiss said looking down.
"What is it?" Ruby asked.
"My father called yesterday and said he might come visit" Weiss said "and I'm worried about having to leave here."
"He can't kick us out" Blake said "your mom signed this house over to us, right?"
"Yes" Weiss said "this house belongs to team RWBY now. He can't kick us out of our own house, but I'm afraid he might try to make me go back with him."
"No he won't" Yang said.
"How do you know?" Weiss asked.
"Because if he touches you, well, he's gonna look funny trying to walk back into Atlas with two broken legs" Yang said as she punched her fists together in front of her chest.
Weiss shook her head and said "I can't ask you to-"
"Of course, it will be hard for him to tell you to do anything with Gambol Shroud wrapped around his neck" Blake said "like Yang said, we're a team and we'll do anything for each other."
"Weiss, we'll keep you safe" Ruby said "ok?"
Weiss smiled and nodded.
"Feel better?" Blake asked.
"Much better" Weiss said "Now, I'm going to ask you a stupid question Blake."
"What's that?" Blake asked.
"Do you know a of a good book you might recommend?" Weiss asked "maybe one I could borrow?"
"I might know of a few" Blake said smiling.
"Would you like to read in the living room by a fire with me?" Weiss asked.
"You talked me into it" Blake said.
"You go get the books" Weiss said "I'll start a fire and maybe get two glasses of wine?"
"I can get behind that" Blake said smiling.
"Well I'm going to go get dressed" Yang said "I've got to go run and get something."
"I'll be in the workshop if anyone needs me" Ruby said.
She grabbed Crescent Rose and went down to the basement. An hour later, Ruby had Crescent Rose disassembled and was cleaning the individual parts. The side door opened and Yang walked in wearing an orange tank top, khaki pants and white tennis shoes with her hair in a pony tail.
"Hey sis" Yang said excitedly as she rolled a motorcycle into the workshop.
She put the kick stand down and walked back out, then came back with a box of bike parts.
"Oooh, rebuilding your bike?" Ruby asked.
"Yup" Yang said smiling.
"What are you gonna call it this time?" Ruby asked "Bumblebee II? Or…what about Killer Bee? No, no I got it. Revenge of the Bee?!"
"Nope, just Bumblebee" Yang said with a chuckle "want something to drink?"
"Sure" Ruby said smiling.
"I'll be back in a sec" Yang said as she ran up the stairs.
She came back down a minute later with a bottle of Sunflower Drop soda and a bottle of beer. She handed Ruby the Sunflower Drop and opened the beer and took a sip.
"Can you do your trick Sis?" Ruby asked holding the bottle up.
"Sure" Yang said as she set the beer down next to her new bike. She walked over to Ruby and took the bottle. She carefully punched the bottle cap off and handed it back to her.
"That is still so cool" Ruby said smiling.
She took a drink as Yang walked back over to the motorcycle. She sat down next to it and began getting souped up parts ready to put on her bike. Yang grabbed a ratchet and started looking through her toolbox.
"Got a three quarters socket I can borrow, Sis?" Yang asked.
"Sure" Ruby said as she grabbed the socket off of her work bench and tossed it to Yang.
"Thanks" Yang said.
She took another drink from her beer and started to loosen a bolt.
"Hey Sis?" Ruby said.
"Yeah?" Yang asked.
"Do you think I could…I mean can I…" Ruby stopped and sighed.
"What's wrong?" Yang asked "just ask me what you want to ask me."
"Can…can I try your beer?" Ruby asked.
Yang sighed and said "Ruby, I've told you before, you're nineteen. No alcohol until you're twenty-one."
"I don't want to really drink it" Ruby said "just a little sip to taste it. Please?"
She gave Yang her best puppy dog eyes.
Yang felt her resolve soften and said "one sip. Dad and Uncle Qrow never hear about this. Clear?"
"Got it" Ruby said with a huge smile.
Yang handed her the beer. Ruby put the bottle to her lips and turned it up for a second, just long enough to get a little bit of the liquid in her mouth. Ruby's eyes widened and she grabbed her Sunflower Drop and drank half of it in one gulp.
"You like that stuff?" Ruby asked.
"Not as much as Uncle Qrow" Yang said "but, I guess I kinda like it."
She took another sip.
"I'll stick to milk and soda" Ruby said.
"Suit yourself" Yang said as she walked back to her bike.
Later that evening, Ruby had Crescent Rose completely reassembled and was working on making new kinds of ammunition with dust Weiss gave her. Yang had made huge strides in souping up her new bike.
"That's enough for today" Yang said as she stood up and stretched "let's go upstairs and relax for a while."
"Right" Ruby said.
They walked up stairs, throwing their bottles in the trash can as they walked by the work bench. All of the lights were off and the fire was out when they came out of the basement.
"I didn't realize it was that late" Yang said.
"I guess Weiss and Blake went to bed" Ruby said "which isn't a bad idea."
"Yeah" Yang said with a yawn "I'm gonna grab another quick shower to wash the grease off. See you in the morning, Sis."
"Good night Yang" Ruby said.
After a quick hug Ruby went to her room as Yang went to the bathroom. Soon after, team JNR came back.
"The others must be asleep" Ren said quietly.
"Do you think they would mind if we made a quick dinner?" Nora asked.
"I don't think they would have a problem with it" Ren said.
"I'm not really hungry" Jaune said.
They heard the water cut off.
"I guess not everyone is asleep" Nora said.
"Sleep sounds good" Jaune said "I'll see you guys tomorrow."
"Night" Ren said as Jaune walked away.
He got to the top of the stairs and stopped.
"Did Weiss say our rooms were to the right or left?" he thought to himself "left."
He walked to the third door to the left, opened it and walked in. He closed the door behind him and turned the lights on as he turned towards the bed. Suddenly his eyes widened and he froze. Yang was standing there in just a pair of black shorts with a tank top in her hands. She quickly held the tank top against her chest to cover herself as her eyes turned red.
"Uh oh" Jaune said "uh…sorry!"
Yang's Robotic hand closed into a fist as she stepped towards Jaune. A few minutes later, Ren and Nora were sitting at the table making sandwiches when Jaune walked into the room.
"I thought you were going to bed" Nora said.
"Yeah, I was" Jaune said.
Ren noticed Jaune's right eye was blackened and badly swollen.
"What happened to your face?" Ren asked.
"Nothing I didn't deserve, I guess" Jaune said as he sat down.
Yang walked in a few minutes later and sat at the table.
She sighed and said "Sorry about your eye. I guess I over reacted."
"No need to apologize" Jaune said "my aura will heal it pretty quick. Plus I did kinda deserve it."
"So, what did you guys find today?" Yang asked as she started making a sandwich.
"Plenty" Nora said.
"I know you've got orders but can you fill me in?" Yang asked.
"Sure" Ren said.
