A/N: Greetings fellow 5ds readers! This took some time to think about, and I wanted it to sound as romantic and a bit sad as possible. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the little one-shot, and here it is.

It was a late night in New Domino City, the full moon shining over the sleeping citizens of the city known for its turbo duel competitions. After all, it was the time of the World Riding Duel Grand Prix, or better yet WRGP, and many people were excited to see which team was going to win this year's tournament. With many teams being from that of Team Unicorn to Team Ragnarok and the brand new team of Team 5D's, it was anyone's guess who would take the prize money and trophy home.
However, somewhere in New Domino City in a large house, someone lied awake in their bed as they were unable to gain sleep. After all, as a member of Team 5D's, Akiza Inzinski found sleep to be difficult to fall into as she was restless in her bed. Wearing the typical outfit that she normally wore, Akiza didn't have the nerve to change into her normal pajamas as she wasn't tired but merely couldn't find rest since she was nervous and in doubt of herself.
Earlier that day, merely a day before the WRGP would take place, Akiza was training with her duel runner against her best friend and fellow signer companion Yusei Fudo, the training going well for her as she was learning more tricks and tips on what to do when it would be her turn during the duel against their first team opponents. In fact, she was learning how to use speed counters with certain cards or turns that would surprise their opponents from Yusei when that arrogant Jack Atlas came along and told Yusei that it was better to leave "the princess" to more girly things and that it should just be better if it was only him, Crow, and Yusei entering the competition.
Of course, Yusei had tried to defend Akiza after she went on a rant towards Jack, the two signers seeming to go at it when the blonde-haired duelist then performed what people would consider being a dick move, as Jack then proceeded to say that the race was no place for a "witch." This offended Akiza so much that she just left the training in a rush, leaving an angry Yusei to reprimand his hard-headed friend for his actions towards her.
She had gone home, spending the day crying to herself in her bed because of what Jack had told her and because of the pains of her past from the Arcadia Movement and from being abandoned by her parents when she was just a young girl. Even after they had taken her back in because they realized the mistakes they did for abandoning Akiza, it still hurt Akiza every time someone called her a witch or a monster.
But during her crying, she wondered if she was even strong enough to compete in the WRGP itself along with the rest of the signers. Perhaps Jack was right and she wasn't good enough in the first place. After all, even after that call later on in the day from the man himself with him apologizing for his words and actions as he wanted to help Akiza in his own arrogant way and after being forced by Yusei to do so, it didn't help in the slightest way to inspire her to rejoin the team for the upcoming race.
And now, lying in her bed, Akiza sat up and got off her bed, deciding that she needed to get some fresh air before she would feel the urge to break something in her rage. Grabbing her helmet, she didn't bother to get her riding suit as she was okay in her normal outfit, leaving her room and heading to the garage in her parent's house, where her duel runner was. Getting on it, she proceeded to ignite the engine and drive out into the night, simply wanting to drive around in the city to perhaps clear her mind.
With the wind flowing around her as she drove, she simply drove and drove, passing many places she recognized in New Domino City that she had seen before, including that of the famous stadium where they would be competing for the WRGP title later on. But it wasn't on her mind as she drove past the stadium, and wasn't planning on stopping until she saw the runner up ahead of her, slowing down until she parked right next to it. Getting off, she saw the person up ahead watching the city from a place only she and their friends knew where he would hang out.
With a small smile, she proceeded to walk up to her friend Yusei, standing right next to him as she looked over the city as well. Yusei noticed her and offered a small smile at his friend. "Tough night Akiza?"
She nodded and gave a small smile in return . "What about you? It's rare for me to find you in a place like this around this late at night, especially with the WRGP around the corner."
Yusei gave a chuckle as he placed his arms over the railing, looking towards the city gleaming with lights and the sound of the nightly traffic filled with life. "I suppose so. Jack and Crow are asleep after having a big argument, Bruno's currently doing a late nighter with some Ramen soup, and I'm worried about Illiaster and what is planned for us in the future."
Akiza gave a nod and looked down at the ground for a moment before looking back at Yusei as he continued to look out in the distance. "Oh. I suppose a lot is on your mind right now since the WRGP is going to start tomorrow. It must be difficult for you."
Yusei glanced at Akiza, then back towards the city. "I guess so. It's not easy to know what's going to happen tomorrow with so much on the line. To be honest, I'm a little worried about if I'm up for this."
Akiza was a bit confused. "What are you worried about?"
Yusei sighed and looked towards Akiza's direction. "I'm not sure that I'm really ready for this, to be honest. I know everyone looks up to me like I'm confident, fearless, and strong, but truthfully, most of the time I'm worried that I won't always be able to pull through to overcome what troubles me. It's… it's just complicated, I guess."
"How so?"
Yusei kept silent for a moment, wondering how to explain it to his friend. "Well, I used to blame myself for what happened from the Zero Reverse incident. After all, I know my father was responsible for what happened, but I couldn't help but feel like I was guilty as well for what happened to Jack and Crow's parents. Not only that, but everyone expects that as the 5th signer, the one with the mark of the dragon head, I should know what to do in tough moments, but even so, I find myself questioning if what I do is the right thing at all. In the end, I'm not even sure if I'm up to the task of leading our team or the signers at all."
Upon hearing this, Akiza never realized that Yusei would sometimes doubt himself on his abilities. Sure, she knew that he looked fearless and sure of himself when facing challenges, like the times of the Dark Signer era and how he faced Goodwin despite the odds being against him. She saw that he pulled through the duel miraculously, but she never knew that Yusei sometimes doubted himself of his own abilities.
A moment of silence came between them, Akiza glancing down while Yusei looked at her before shaking his head, starting to move away from the rail. "I'm sorry Akiza. I shouldn't have bothered you."
"It's fine."
Yusei glanced in her direction, Akiza looking back at him with slight tears in her eyes. "What?"
"You don't have to apologize for anything," Akiza replied, "In fact, it should be me apologizing to you. I'm over here, questioning whether I'm worthy of being on your team or if I'm good enough when I never thought of how you were feeling in the 1st place. In fact, I spent this entire day simply crying to myself because of what Jack had told me, but despite that, I should have checked up on you during the times we spent together as friends instead of you checking up on me."
Yusei sighed and placed his hands in his pockets. "Listen Akiza, I'm sorry for what Jack told you. He was in a pretty bad mood when he said that, but he's ashamed of himself for saying that to you. Just remember that you're not a witch, but someone that I care about a lot. After all, you're my friend in the end, and when I check on you to see how you are, it's to remind you that people care about you, including me. And if you want to check up on me, I'm glad to say that I'm doing better with you around."
A smile crossed Akiza's lips. "Really?"
Yusei nodded. "Really."
Akiza blushed slightly and looked away, rubbing her arm nervously as Yusei slowly approached her. "Before you came and rescued me from myself, I thought no one except Sayer cared about me, not even my parents. Then, despite my past and powers, you still accepted me for who I was, not caring about how I hurt people, how Sayer simply used me for my powers, and how people thought I was a witch. You simply saw me and offered me your friendship, and I'm still trying to figure out why."
Tears dripped slowly down her cheeks, making Yusei reach out gently under her chin to have Akiza look at him in his blue eyes, the female duelist looking at the male duelist. "Akiza, do you know why I wanted you to be my friend?'
She shook her head. "Why?"
Yusei smiled and took her by her hands gently. "Because I saw how sad you were and I didn't want for you to be sad anymore. I don't wish to see people be alone in this world and I want to connect people together to see them happy. I believe everyone needs a friend in their life and to me, you were the one friend that I needed to see happy again. I wanted to help you find a friend because I knew how lonely you were, and I felt like it was my duty to make you happy again."
"You mean it?"
Yusei nodded. "I do."
What happened next caught Akiza off guard as Yusei leaned in gently towards her, gently applying a soft kiss to her lips. It was something romantic that she never thought would happen to her, but for a moment, Akiza felt safe and warm. She felt connected to Yusei in a way that she never thought she would feel as a friend. So she returned the kiss to him, the two gently kissing each other as Yusei hands wrapped around her waist and hers around his.
The two signers were still connected in their kiss when they finally separated after a beeping went off at Yusei's duel runner, making Yusei glance at it before looking at Akiza again. "Sorry about that. It's probably Bruno with some latest updates on the new software for our runners or him wondering where I am."
Akiza giggled, making her sigh in a dreamy way. "That's Bruno alright." She then looked at Yusei in his eyes, a question in mind. "When did you have feelings for me?"
Yusei smiled. "Since when you became my friend. No matter what you did in the past, I felt like I was meant to be your friend no matter what. I hope you're not mad over the kiss."
Akiza shook her head. "Not really. In fact, I was in love with you, though I didn't know how to express it. I'm glad that you were the 1st to express your love to me, otherwise I would've done it later on."
With a small chuckle from Yusei, the two engaged in another romantic gentle kiss before finally separating again, with Yusei then glancing at the sky above them. "You want to watch the stars for a bit?"
Akiza nodded. "If you're in it, my starshine."
Yusei smiled. "Of course, my lovely rose."
With a giggle from the female duelist, the two signers then proceeded to watch the nightly sky above them, the two watching the stars around and pointing out constellations while embraced in each other's arms. Despite what the future held for them, the two signers knew that no matter whatever happened, as long they were together, they would overcome what fate held for them.
End.
A/N:There, done! I hope you enjoy that little 5ds oneshot, because I love Akiza and Yusei together. Damn Konami for not giving us the full shipping of Akiza and Yusei. Like it was so obvious they loved each other, but no, Konami be banning relationships from the anime. Anyways, if you enjoyed this first oneshot Yugioh 5ds made by me, leave a like and review for me about some oneshots to write later on. I might write one for Jack and Carly, as they're like the perfect couple as well, but who knows? It'll be a surprise… :)
