"Wait... call Lucy over first."
A very scared Lucy, more like a fearing for her life Lucy, was currently being reprimanded by Erza. It did not take the mage long, who had such analytic abilities, to uncover the truth of her latest dating scandal. Once Erza heard that Mira's plan had gone to waste, she put two and two together getting Lucy it admit that this was her doing indeed.
"Lucy... you shouldn't go around spreading rumours like that. You don't know who they could hurt. We, the Gossip Girls, don't participate in the spreading of lies, but uncovering the truth," the disciplinary mage chided. The fact that she was calm more than angry made Lucy wonder if there was going to be a surprise attack or an ulterior motive.
Erza had an explanation for everything apparently as she then went on to answer the question in Lucy's head. "I realize it was unfair to kick you out of the team temporarily and I should have resisted the temptation of a sweet delicacy, so as punishment you may slap me."
Obviously Lucy wasn't going follow her wishes. "I'm sorry too... but it was only Gray. It's not like it was some problematic person. It didn't hurt anybody did it?" Lucy tried her luck at getting back on the redhead's good side.
Erza gave her an elongated sigh. The requip mage had yet to explain the situation to the other girls, Lucy knew that her actions may have caused some tension. Specifically with the blue-haired water mage.
The remaining of the girls, coincidentally all at the guild at the time, gathered around Erza in a circle by the bar when Lucy and Mira called them over.
The girls all rushed over, their mouths already open to fire their questions, but Erza quickly shut them out.
"Gray and I aren't dating. I just want to clear this up, this was all a ploy created by Lucy." If looks could kill, Lucy would be six feet under by now. "Juvia..." Erza addressed her friend who had made her feelings toward the ice mage known.
Juvia was uncharacteristically quiet. No one would accuse the Fairy Queen being their Love Rival, but Juvia had not made any statements denying the relationship. Almost as if she accepted it.
A non-teary eyed Juvia spoke. "Juvia understands." Erza let our a relieved breath that she was holding, and continued being the quiet observer. "...but Juvia will continue her choice on giving up Gray-san." That was the first time since joining the guild the bluenette changed the honorific at the end of the ice mage's name.
"Juvia, you heard Erza. Since they aren't in a relationship you can still pursue him," Levy pushed her on. The rest of the girls nodded their heads in agreement.
"Juvia does not think Levy-san understands why Juvia is letting go," her same monotone voice answered.
"Then why else would you let go?" Evergreen butted in.
Cana, long-time close friend of Gray, continued the support. "Look, Gray's a cowardly bastard when it comes to his feelings. It'll take time for him to recognize his own feelings."
Juvia closed her eyes. "Gray-san already knows his feelings."
"That's great—" Lisanna started to congratulate.
"What do you mean?" Lucy said at the same time.
"Juvia has accepted that Gray-san's feelings do not lie with her." The rain woman stated.
Mira who had been watching the scene unfold from afar as she served the other guild members, thinking the meeting would just clear up the air around Erza's dating scandal, couldn't believe that Gruvia was falling apart. She thought her plans for them had been going smoothly. "But you said that your date I set up with him went great."
Juvia played with her hair. "Juvia lied because Juvia wanted to believe Gray-san wouldn't do that. Gray-san stood Juvia up-" Most of the girls were growing enraged. "But... Gray-san left Juvia with Lyon-san."
Thinking faces on. One second. Two seconds. Three seconds. Complete and utter mayhem and chaos.
"SO YOU WENT ON A DATE WITH LYON?!"
"AND THAT DATE WENT GREAT?!"
"WERE YOU TWO-TIMING GRAY, THEN!?"
"GO GET HIM!!!"
"I never thought you were one to play the game, Juvia."
"... ARE YOU TELLING ME ALL MY GRUVIA PLANS I WENT OVER WITH YOU WENT TO WASTE?!" A semi-heartbroken Mira wailed.
Juvia couldn't help but chuckle at the girls' reactions. "Juvia did not mean to hide that from you, Juvia hadn't given up on Gray-san at the time."
"Then why give up now?" Erza blurted the question out of the blue. She had been quiet until now.
Juvia held a surprised expression on her face. "Juvia does not know if she should tell Erza-san..."
"Why not?" Lucy asked, curiosity at its peak.
"If it's a secret... you know we're all ears," a half drunk Cana added.
"Whatever it is, it'll stay confidential if you'd like it to," Lisanna reassured.
"Juvia would like that, but..." the water mage was becoming agitated.
"But?" an expecting Evergreen was growing impatient.
"Do you not trust that I can keep a secret, Juvia?" the requip mage interrogated.
"Girls... she doesn't have to tell us if she doesn't want to," clearly Mira was in a state of defeat. That was the first time she turned down any tea.
"It's okay, Mira-san. What Juvia knows is only assumption." She paused. "Juvia thinks Gray-san has feelings for Erza-san. Juvia can not compete with Erza-san."
Erza's eyes widened, she chuckled kind of nervously. "Don't be ridiculous, Juvia. Gray can't possibly think of me like that. I'm just his best friend. You could totally still win over him—"
"Juvia-san knows she could be wrong, but Gray-san was very excited to take the S-class mission with Erza-san."
"Because it would be his first official S-class mission—"
"Gray-san holds Erza-san in high regard."
"I'm his comrade Juvia—"
"Juvia thinks Gray-san sees Erza-san as more of a comrade because he said he loved you."
"WHAT?!" The girls collectively gasped. Lucy's nose started to bleed. Levy had fainted. Cana dropped her beer jug. Evergreen was as devious as ever. Lisanna was double checking her calculations of all the ships she decided were a good fit. Mira was even out of her depressed spell.
And Erza was a sputtering mess. "W-w-what? W-when?"
"Gray-san may have let it slip while he was drinking," the water mage replied.
Erza tried regaining her composure, half successful. "I mean I love him too, but as I friend. That's probably what he meant. Also, if he was drinking, that meant he was drunk. He could have just be saying nonsense." It came out rushed.
Cana hiccuped. "Nope, I don't think so. Alcohol is basically the liquid of truth. So the truth serum. It won't work on alcoholics like me, but Gray isn't a heavy drinker." She whistled. "Titania has got a suitor."
Erza was frozen in her place, still in a daze. The other girls had come to their sense and realized that the requip mage was no longer responding.
"Erza?" the blonde waved a hand in her face to no avail. The other girls had attempted to get her attention, all failing miserably. It was only when the ice mage himself noticed Erza's sudden stiffness and headed over.
He eyed the girls that gathered in the area suspiciously. "What did you do to her?" He gave them a pointed look, but all of them had blank stares. "Erza...?" He shook her and she snapped out of her phase.
"G-Gray?" she was taken aback at his sudden appearance.
"Is something wrong...?" he asked her softly.
Her sentences were so rushed no one was able to decipher them. She kept on rambling to the boy and the girls decided to drag her off.
Now they were back in Fairy Hills, in Erza's dorm. Mira currently plotting her next plan of action with the other girls. Juvia had taken the initiative in keeping the redhead company in her bedroom. Although Erza was out of her frozen state she was still awfully quiet.
"Juvia wants to know if Erza-san is okay? Maybe Juvia should not have told Erza-san," the bluenette stated quietly.
Erza turned to the other girl. "I need to tell you something."
"Whatever you need-" Juvia began.
"But I need you to promise you won't tell anyone. No one. Not even the other girls," Erza pleaded.
"Juvia swears she won't tell anyone." The girl was torn between keeping secrets from the club, but it was Erza who was asking. Juvia didn't feel any bitterness towards her even though she knew her crush loved the other girl. She would wish Gray the best of life. He had helped her enough.
Erza whispered in her ear. Juvia was now the one in the state of shock.
"Operation GrayZa. This is our new ship. Got it girls?" Mira declared. In tacky fashion, the others saluted. "Cana, what's their history?"
"Erza joined the guild on Gray's lucky day. I remember she kept to herself when she was new. Gray was annoyed by that, so he challenged her. Obviously he was beat up, but he was very persistent. One day he stopped trying to fight her and hadn't challenged her since; I don't know why."
"What's their current situation, Levy?"
"Now they are best friends and teammates. They often take missions with just to two of them as well. They treat each other as equals. However, no legitimate proof they are anything more than best friends. We know Gray loves her more than that, but Erza seems to only like him as a comrade."
"What about details? Lucy!"
"Latest news: Recent S-class mission Gray was supposedly very happy to be on. Gray obviously cares about Erza a lot. Hence Oracion Seis and Tower of Heaven incidents. Erza said she thought Gray's magic was the most beautiful and he was quite proud. Gray get nervous around her. Both of them are most relaxed with the company of each other."
"Evergreen, how would everyone take it?"
"I don't want to admit it, but they would be Fiore's biggest power couple. In all honesty, I think the guild would be shocked. Probably some teasing, and comments about how Gray must be super brave or out of his mind, which might anger Erza. Of course there will probably be a few jealous haters from Gray's fam club, and lust-filled men. General reaction should be good. They would become the most-loved couple in all of Fiore."
"What are the possibilities, Lisanna, in this ship sailing?"
"Although it seems one sided right now, compatibility is above ninety percent. Consider the few interactions the two mages have with other potential love interests, it might take time, but it's very possible if they would end up together it would be endgame."
"Operation Grayza is a go—"
"And you don't have my permission," Erza intervened entering the room.
"But Erzaaaaaaa-" Mira gave her puppy dog eyes, oooh how no one could refuse that look.
Erza sighed, giving the okay. "You can try to pull your schemes but I'm telling you nothing is going to happen. Why don't you not waste your efforts and work on Juvia and Lyon's relationship?" The water mage beside her reddened. There she went again. Lucy had recognized the pattern Erza had when deflected attention from herself. The blonde might have to ask Erza for lessons if she wanted to survive this club.
"Oh, you see my powers to matchmaking are pretty limited when it comes to interguild relationships," Mira said casually. "But of course I still have plans ready. I may or may not have secretly kept a hidden file of Juvia and Lyon in case Gruvia didn't work out."
"Juvia wonders how Mira-san has that already made if Juvia did not speak to her about Lyon-san yet," stating her disbelief.
"All I had to do was make a profile of your ideal type and viola. Lyon Vastia from Lamia Scale came up in the database," the older white-haired mage explained using grand gestures.
Lucy was mentally face palming. She may have been a member for a while now and she probably has seen it all, but Mira's enthusiasm and ways were ... questionable.
"Database?" An ever observant Levy inquired at the sudden mention of a database apparently no one in the club had known of.
"Oh yeah, that. I got Hibiki Lates from Blue Pegasus to create on for us, so far only he can use it," she said cheerfully.
Evergreen was always the first one to support the impulsive decisions made by their president, as long as she had something to gain from it. "You've got some great connections Mira. You wouldn't mind putting in a word for me do you?"
"You always have an ulterior motive don't you?" Cana chuckled.
"Is there anything else we should know?" Erza was less than happy at the sudden developments in the club.
"That I also asked a famous designer to prepare your wedding dresses?" Mira asked as if that wasn't unusual.
"Big sis, sometimes you're too much," her younger sister laughed as the rest of the girls groaned.
Author's note: It's a short chapter because I just needed to include their meeting and it didn't exactly fit with the previous chapter, not the next chapter. Hope you enjoyed! I'll try to update soon.
