Revan approached the troop carrier with his men in a guard of honour on the way up to the platform. These were good men who had served him since the old days unlike Malak who surrounded him with sycophants and force users who, despite their obvious skill with a Lightsaber and some talent in the darkside, would abandon him at the first sign of a struggle or collectively attempt to overthrow him when he was weak. This above all was what disappointed him about Malak, he was once his friend and most trusted Generals in the Mandalorian Wars yet now he was power hungry and would settle for any scraps that would come his way. He would no doubt betray him, Revan knew but would he have the sense to wait until the Jedi were defeated. Throughout history the Sith were surrounded with infighting with many, much like Malak's new pupils, weaker individuals bringing down a more powerful master with numbers rather than deserving successors and no doubt this scenario would play out when Malak inevitably tried to end him.
As he passed his men and boarded the ship he could name every one of them, knowing them before the establishment of their new empire. That was Revan's greatest power; loyalty. He had harnessed a hatred for the Republic and the Jedi in them that would boil over with the coming mission and with that they departed the Adenn and headed toward Coruscant's surface.
"We are on the brink of history." Revan said, his voice carrying down rows upon rows of soldiers
"Today the Republic, along with their Jedi overlords, falls. Today the cleansing begins and from the ashes our Empire will take its place." Revan announced raising his hand, a gesture mimicked by the Troopers.
"Captain Pharn" Revan said turning his head to one of the corners
Captain Pharn swiftly came to his Lords side.
"We will be attacking the Jedi temple but I want you to pick a squad and go to the Senate building. I do not trust Malak's men to carry out my orders. Once inside it will become clear who Malak's spies in the senate are. Execute them but wait until the rest of our troops are inside the temple. I will contact you." Revan gestured toward the troop as he spoke
"Do you mean Admiral Zelem's spies my Lord?" Pharn replied
"If they are Zelem's spies they are Malak's spies Captain" Revan explained
"Very good sir" Pharn said as he headed down each row selecting a trooper from each
The transport continued down toward the senate building, shuddering every few seconds as the craft swayed and bounced to avoid other Starfighters and fire from the ground. The doors slid open as Pharn and his team departed the craft to join the troopers already entering the plaza. The Transport lifted off again and Revan could feel the fear and fury that radiated from each of the troopers, the hatred in the air fuelled him. Hatred of the Jedi that once were their brothers in arms having served alongside some of them during the war, once friends and family to some of the troopers were now marked for death by this purge. All that was left were cowards who never joined Revan's cause or fled and betrayed them after Malachor, the only good Jedi are dead the ones worth saving.
Revan unclipped the Lightsaber from his belt as he felt the ship lower itself once again. The door slid open and he stepped out, standing there for a moment as the remaining troopers exited the craft. The troopers formed up behind him as he glanced up to one of the Jedi statues that towered over the approach to the temple then, as one, they marched up the steps toward the great temple. Something didn't feel right to Revan, he saw the temple guards with their weapons drawn but there was something else. The temple felt too alive as if every single Jedi was in the temple at that very moment however that is impossible. The Jedi care too much about other worlds under their protection surely, they wouldn't just abandon them. Revan knew this was a trap, perhaps they decided that by projecting a false sense of numbers they would dissuade him but he knew how they feared the darkness but they also feared how one of their greatest Jedi embraced it.
The guards said nothing as they raised their weapons. Revan merely raised his hand and all four of the guards levitated slightly clutching their throats and with a sickening snap all four lifeless bodies fell limp to the ground. Instantly he felt it, the temple wasn't just projecting an aura of strength there was no one of note there. Where did they go? Revan had expected that due to Malak's carelessness they would have known attack was imminent but to have evacuated the temple completely seemed out of character even for the Jedi.
"My Lord, where are they?" asked Commander Vulkan
"We have been betrayed, Commander" Revan replied with an air of indifference
"Slaughter anyone who remains in the temple once you are done, find me in the High Council chamber" Revan instructed, turning and heading toward the chamber.
The doors slid open and in a circle sat all the chairs of the Jedi council in the centre of the open room knelt a Mikkian Jedi Master named Zabara. Revan entered the room
"I was somewhat expecting a trap but this… was unexpected. How long have you known of my plan?" Revan asked curiously
"If it wasn't for my former apprentice we might never have known. Now a monster like you will never lay a finger on any other Jedi" replied Zabara
"Come now Zabara, you can hide them from me but once the Republic falls my Empire will find them. But your former apprentice accurately predicting my plan? That does interest me"
Zabara spun and stood to face Revan
"You will not touch another Jedi" she spat as she ignited her Lightsaber, it's green blade made her green skin appear brighter
"Disappointing" Revan said as her Lightsaber deactivated and flew to Revan's hand. She froze and levitated slightly as Revan walked around her
"Where were you when we left to fight the Mandalorians? You called us traitors and Revanchists when we were doing what the rest of the Jedi should have done, protecting the Republic. Now we realise a Jedi backed Republic must be destroyed by taking away it's rotten core" Revan said pacing around the floating Jedi rage building in his voice.
The Lightsaber was also levitating behind Revan who continued to circle the Jedi master. His hands clasped behind his back he activated the Jedi's weapon in mid-air.
"I am what you created Jedi. I am Darth Revan, Dark lord of the Sith." Revan's voice calmed again as he faced her, her eyes wide with terror as the Lightsaber impaled her. Her lifeless body fell to the ground as he raised his Holocom to his mask.
"Captain Pharn…" said Revan into the Holocom
"…Do it"
"Yes, my Lord" the Captain's voice replied
Commander Vulkan entered the chamber "I'm sorry sir, there doesn't appear to be anyone left."
"I am aware, Commander. I am to return to the Adenn, you and two other men head over to the Senate building immediately the rest are to stay and defend the temple against any that might retake it."
Revan exited the shuttle aboard the Adenn once again. His flag ship was far enough out that it sustained little damage and was well protected from various fighters. He headed toward the bridge knowing that his betrayal from Malak was imminent with his first instinct being he was simply waiting for Revan to return and finish him there. For Malak to achieve this he would have brought his most trusted apprentices and acolytes to face him, it would be suicide for him to try and face Revan in one-on-one combat. To Revan's surprise however, it was not Malak but Admiral Zelem who was waiting on the bridge Malak's hologram fading at the sight of Revan.
"Where is Malak?" Revan said his voice calm as to not betray his intent
"The Leviathan, my Lord" Zelem replied shakily
"I see. He needed someone he trusted to allow the Jedi strike team on board" Revan said enjoying feeling of the Human's fear rise.
Admiral Zelems eyes widened with fear "No my Lord I simply…"
Zelems body fell to the ground as his neck snapped. Revan felt the rage course through his veins, he wished he killed him slower but there simply wasn't the time. The Jedi were here.
"Come out Jedi." Revan announced as he ignited his Lightsaber.
