She looked out her window to see Akane studying not realizing she was staring at him. She smiled sadly as she knew it was her fault in the first place but…

Aoi Aoi.

Yeah, that wasn't all that great.

The next day at school Aoi noticed how excited Nene was but she couldn't help but also notice how her legs were trembling as well.

"Are you nervous Nene-chan?" She asked as she set down her backpack on her desk.

Nene took a deep breath to try and calm herself. "Yeah extremely… but then again I wonder how Mitsuba is doing."

Mitsuba was worse than Nene actually.

He was stiff as a board in his seat, completely avoiding eye contact with Kou who quickly greeted Yokoo and Satou. Mitsuba always wondered why he spent more time with him, Nene and Aoi and not with his original friends.

Kou walked past Mitsuba's desk not really looking at him at all. He should feel grateful but a part of him felt offended at the lack of response. Maybe Kou didn't really mean for the kiss to happen.

They were both kind of vulnerable anyway, him with the drama with Nene, Kou with his brother. It was only natural they would make such a foolish mistake.

Right?

And yet Mitsuba hated it.

He hated the fact that maybe this was all one-sided and the only one who ever felt anything was just him and not Kou. When Kou asked him to go to the arcade he was the one who assumed it was a date when it was clearly not and then he straight up flirted with him after.

Mitsuba was the weird one here then.

He groaned internally not really wanting to think about it. He's never liked anyone before, much less a guy.

It was all so confusing!

Now he kind of understood Nene.

As Mitsuba internally debated with himself, Kou felt extremely nervous about talking to him later.

Was it all one-sided? He did kiss him out of the blue after all! It's not like Mitsuba asked to be put on the spot like that.

Perhaps Kou was the weird one here, after all, Mitsuba seemed to be avoiding him today. That was going to mess his plans to talk to him later today. They really did need to talk, misunderstandings could happen and considering what happened with Nene and Amane…

He didn't want to risk it.

"Alright students sit down, class is about to start." The teacher walked in urging students to go back to their seats.

Kou was sure he wasn't going to be able to focus on class properly.

Lunchtime…

It was now or nothing for both Nene and Mitsuba.

They met up at lunch with Aoi in tow to discuss what to do.

"I'll go find Yugi-senpai, I think Kou-kun went that way," Nene said as she pointed towards the direction she was sure she saw Kou go.

Mitsuba nodded as he took deep breaths and walked away to find Kou.

"Go Mitsuba go!" Both girls cheered in unison.

He felt his cheeks flush, how embarrassing.

He turned the corner and saw Kou standing idly, his cheeks had a pink hue to them as he looked at the wall intently. He was just standing there next to the vending machine.

Was he going to buy something or..?

Mitsuba didn't really know what hella lame traffic safety earring was doing. He sighed as he stared at him with a small smile.

Well, I guess he was always cool to me…

Kou looked over and immediately spotted Mitsuba. His expression changed to being surprised and then feeling extremely shy.

Mitsuba felt his blush deepened as he was sure he was not getting out of his alive. "Hey…" He waved shyly, unable to look at him in the eyes.

Kou couldn't either if he were honest. "Hey…"

"We need to talk."

They both froze as they realized they had said the same thing at the same time. They felt their face heat up even more as the realization of what was about to go down was finally settling in.

"Mitsuba I…" Kou began but couldn't find the words to describe how he felt. He was confused but he was sure he liked him. But he didn't feel like getting rejected either.

Mitsuba sighed, it really was now or never. He's not good with words but actions speak louder than words, right? He just knew if he did this, depending on Kou's reaction… he would get an answer.

Mitsuba kissed Kou- not letting him speak any further. Mitsuba was anxious, would he reject him? Push him away and freak out?

Hate him?

His anxiety went away the moment Kou pulled him closer to deepen the kiss. He felt like he was on cloud nine right now.

Kou didn't expect Mitsuba to actually kiss him like that but he was glad. He really was overthinking, he assumed too much.

They both felt the same way towards each other.

They pulled away for air and looked into each other's eyes for a moment before they both smiled widely.

"So… you feel the same way?" Kou asked as he blushed- noticing how cute Mitsuba looked today.

Mitsuba rolled his eyes playfully. "Of course I feel the same way hella lame traffic safety earring." He put his head on his chest trying to ignore his heating face. "I don't know how it happened but… I really like you for some weird reason."

Kou chuckled as he hugged Mitsuba. "I'm the same way… it just happened I guess."

They stood there for a bit not really caring if anyone saw them that way.

"Kou."

"Yes?"

Mitsuba let go of Kou and looked at him with a serious expression. "Are you going to ask me out or what?"

Kou blinked and blinked again as he looked at Mitsuba who had his hands on his hips waiting for an answer. "Uh well… Mitsuba… be my boyfriend!"

Mitsuba let out a squeak as he felt himself melting again. He expected Kou to ask him on a date, not this! "Oh my god, Kou why do you do me like that?" He groaned in embarrassment.

Kou blushed. "Ah sorry, I just… I don't know… I don't want to beat around the bush you know? Let's just get together."

Mitsuba looked at him surprised, he didn't expect Kou to be that mature. "Ah well… I guess you're right... I accept then."

They smiled and shared another kiss.

Library…

Nene had heard from Tsukasa that Amane liked to spend lunchtime in the library these days. She hoped Mitsuba managed to talk things out with Kou and possibly get together since she wasn't sure if she'd be able to even talk to Amane.

As she walked in and went to the furthest corner she felt her heartbeat seeing Amane eating an onigiri while scrolling through his phone. She felt like squealing seeing him be so cute like that.

Her anxiety was getting the best of her as she wasn't sure how to approach properly.

"Yugi-senpai?" She called out to him hoping he wouldn't immediately dismiss her.

He stared at her in shock- he seemed happy but his expression quickly turned sour. Nene felt her heart hurt as he turned away to practically ignore her.

She wanted to cry but she knew she couldn't give up now. "Yugi-senpai I'm sorry I hurt you… I really like you… too much even." She blushed, she knew by the end of it all she would reveal too much but if hanging out with Tsukasa these days taught her anything is that Amane appreciated honesty more. "I think I even love you." Before continuing she looked at him for a reaction.

He seemed to freeze as a pink hue appeared on his cheeks, his heart was beating too quickly for his liking.

She clutched the edge of her skirt, trying to fight back tears. "I should have been truthful I know but the truth is I was so blind to believing you had a girlfriend that I didn't even bother to ask, all I could think of was- if I confessed I'd probably hurt Nanamine-senpai because she was so nice when I met her." She rubbed her eyes, don't cry Nene. "I was so happy when we kissed you know… but then I remembered you had a girlfriend and I freaked out, I thought I was a bad person and I wasn't sure how I was going to face you and then… everything went downhill."

Amane was finally looking at her, she couldn't tell what he was thinking but she was glad she had his attention. "I did a lot of things to get guys to notice me! I tried to become more feminine but that never worked, they would all reject me you know… but then I met you that day and my world changed." She grinned as the wonderful memory of meeting Amane for the first time resurfaced in her mind. "I didn't know your name and yet I was completely head over heels for you! I thought you weren't my type but I was wrong- you're definitely my type!"

Amane's blush went full scarlet. "Ah…" He didn't really know what to say.

Nene continued her speech. "I may or may not have stalked you to learn your name, I may or may not have taken pictures of you when you're out playing or being super cool! And I may or may not stalk your social media every night." Her face got redder and redder the more she admitted.

Meanwhile, Amane felt like he'd die from overheating.

"I like you, no, I love you Amane-senpai! I want you to go out with me!" She closed her eyes as she handed him that long-overdue love letter she's always kept hidden from everyone, from Aoi and Mitsuba, to even herself. She first wrote it when she was in middle school.

It was kind of embarrassing.

Amane felt like he was running out of breath, how dare she do that to him! He grabbed her arm and pulled her closer to him, his forehead touching hers. "That's not fair you know… making my heartbeat that way when I'm supposed to be mad at you." He pouted.

Nene's face was pure scarlet.

"I also kind of did all those things too… stalked you to find out your name, took pictures, your social media." He was blushing too much today. "I love you too… but I hated the fact that you lied to me."

Nene grabbed his hands as she felt her eyes water again. "I promise I'll never do that again."

Amane was the type to prefer actions more than words but… a part of him knew she really meant it. "Promise?" Just in case he would make her pinky swear.

Their pinky finger intertwined with the other as they sealed their promise.

Nene giggled. "I promise." Her heart was beating all over the place.

Amane leaned in to kiss her, Nene didn't mind. They kissed for what seemed like an eternity as Nene had never wanted to kiss someone as badly as she wanted to kiss him, Amane felt the same. After a week of distancing each other, it felt right to be together again.

Their kiss was unfortunately interrupted by the sound of someone clearing their throat.

They pulled apart to turn to see Tsuchigomori standing there looking at them judgingly. "You two brats go make out somewhere else."

Amane and Nene were too happy to feel embarrassed.

Aoi waited for her friends so they could all walk together again since Akane was busy… again. She sighed knowing she shouldn't feel this way but she couldn't help it. It was normal right?

She was surprised to see Nene holding Amane's hand while Mitsuba walked out with Kou smiling at each other.

They had all gotten together apparently.

There were a lot of congratulations and happy tears being spread, all Aoi could do was smile and hug her friends at their success. She had to pretend she was happy… how selfish was she?

"Amane! Amane!" Tsukasa came running out of the building and tackled his brother into one of his usual hugs.

"Ah Tsukasa wait!"

Everyone laughed at the scene, they were laughing, she was glad nobody could see her unamused face.

"Did you two finally kiss?" Tsukasa asked, still on top of Amane. How he had the strength to carry Tsukasa on his back was something nobody really knew.

Amane blushed. "I'm going to drop you for that… but yes we kissed."

Tsukasa beamed. "Fuck yeah, took you long enough!"

Amane rolled his eyes. "Shut up."

Nene giggled as she kissed Amane's cheek. "We really did take our sweet time."

Mitsuba covered his mouth. "Really took you guys years." He muttered.

Kou overheard him and covered his mouth to stop himself from laughing.

Amane and Nene glared at them. "Shut it you two." They said in unison.

Aoi should be happy right? Why wasn't she? She was walking slower than them and yet they didn't seem to notice she was really behind. They must be too happy to even notice.

Ah… why was she acting this way? She wanted them all to get together in the first place and now that Nene is happy and Mitsuba has found someone he likes she feels jealous! She shouldn't be jealous of them at all.

She's a terrible friend… a really terrible friend!

She didn't notice her tears until her vision became blurry. She quickly dried them and ran up to her friends in order to play it nice and cool. She smiled, as they looked at her asking if she wanted to go to the cafe that just opened. She accepted as that's what a good friend would do, they wanted to celebrate after all!

Plus she's not really a third wheel due to the fact that Tsukasa was here. He didn't seem to feel awkward about the fact that his brother had a girlfriend and he didn't.

She kind of wished she had his composure right now.

They ordered and sat down as they continued talking about what had happened during their private talks.

"I told him I didn't want to beat around the bush and asked him to be my boyfriend." Kou finished telling his tale.

Mitsuba blushed. "Can you believe it? He sprung that question out of nowhere."

The table erupted in laughter, Aoi couldn't laugh so she instead smiled as she took a sip of her drink, the perfect excuse.

"Well, I ended up telling Amane-kun that I practically stalked him." She blushed from embarrassment.

Tsukasa felt the need to interject. "Did Amane tell you about the time he was up all night staring at your photo?"

Amane covered his brother's mouth in order to avoid more spilling. "Shut up Tsukasa we don't talk about that!"

More laughter, more sipping, this drink was pretty good, a good distraction indeed.

"So did you two get together or did you just kiss?" Kou asked curiously.

Nene looked at Amane. "Well, we just told each other that we loved each other."

Amane grinned. "She asked me to go out with her, she put me on the spot too!" He kissed her cheek and caressed her hand lovingly.

Nene blushed for the millionth time today. "I mean you were still mad and I wanted to let you know and stuff…" She was clearly embarrassed to say more.

Aoi smiled… a forced smile, she continued sipping, sipping was better anyway. If she ran out she could just order another drink, they were cheap anyway.

"So you haven't even asked her to be your girlfriend? You're so slow Amane." Tsukasa joked as he poked his brother's cheek.

Amane glared at him with a blush present on his face. "I know, I know… Nene-chan?"

Nene looked at him. "Yeah?"

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

Nene smiled widely and squealed in excitement, not even caring if she was too loud. "Of course!"

Mitsuba, Kou, and Tsukasa all clapped, Aoi continued smiling, ah, she ran out. She's getting more please excuse her.

She quickly ordered another one, paid and sat down as her friends continued their celebration.

They left the cafe and walked around for a bit not really wanting to go home. Aoi felt out of place again… she should have said no, she could have invented something.

She's a terrible friend… a really terrible friend.

Her vision was getting blurry again, quickly- she needed to get rid of her tears before anyone noticed.

Why was she so jealous?

Why did she have to ruin this moment with her tears?

They were looking at her now, worried, those worried expressions made her feel worse.

Don't look at her, please! She's not decent right now.

"Aoi-chan what's wrong?" Nene immediately went to comfort her.

Don't, I'm feeling ugly feelings right now.

"Aoi-senpai?" Now Mitsuba was trying to comfort her.

Ah, don't! Please, I don't like the way I feel right now.

Everyone was looking at her, she was getting too loud, too loud for her own good, she needed to stop, please stop.

STOP!

"I'm not sure what's wrong but… everything will be okay Aoi-chan." Nene hugged her tightly.

Aoi couldn't hug her back, instead, she pushed her away, to the ground. The sudden aggression alarmed Amane as he went to Nene's side.

"Are you okay?"

Ah… how nice.

"Yeah, I'm fine… Aoi-chan?"

Don't look at her like that…

The more they looked at her with shocked expressions- she couldn't help but want to run away.

"Nene-chan… I'm sorry." She apologized immediately, she didn't mean it, she loves Nene, she's her best friend.

"Aoi-senpai what's wrong with you?" Mitsuba glared at her, clearly upset she even did that.

"I… I…" How would she justify this? She had no way out.

"She's jealous," Tsukasa said, surprising everyone- even Aoi herself.

"What!?" Aoi exclaimed. "That's not true."

Tsukasa rolled his eyes. "It's so obvious! You don't have to lie, you're jealous aren't you?"

Nobody really wanted to argue against Tsukasa considering he's been right about a lot of things lately. Nene merely looked at Aoi hoping she could explain herself.

But Aoi couldn't. "I'm not! I just…" What does she even say?

"You're jealous." He repeated.

This was a war she wasn't going to win. "I'm not!" She yelled back, surprising herself in the process. She's never been one to act this way, this coldly, this badly…

She couldn't get out of this… he was right…

Jealousy is an ugly feeling.
