Stef:
I was 7 years old and I was starting 1st grade soon. My mom was going to acting school well I was home playing with the small basketball with my plastic hoop in the driveway well Mike was shooting hoops in the adult basketball hoop attached to the garage. My aunt was friendly to our neighbor. She seemed friendly. Mike was friends with the Spanish girl 2 houses down from us next to the black lady's house and she came over when we were playing.
"Hi, Mike. Who's this pretty little girl?" Anna Asked
"This is my little sister Stef."
"Nice to meet you. So Mike you still gonna go to Norwalk community college?"
"Yeah. but I need to finish High School first"
"Cool. My mom was talking to Stacy the other day our neighbor Stacy and I overheard them and Stacy mentioned that her sister is bringing her niece here from Califonia to live here with her."
"Did you catch how old this girl is going to be?"
"No, but heard her name is Lena."
"That's a pretty name. Maybe if she's our age we can invite her to the arcade or something."
"Yeah, maybe but I was hoping we can spend some alone time before your mom and aunt gets home."
"I would like that but I have to watch my little sister until 1 of them gets home first."
We see a car pull up to Stacy's house that has a small trailer attached to the car and Stacy comes outside.
"Hi, Stacy," Mike says
"Hi kids."
"Need Help?" Mike asked as he was always helpful
"Sure."
We walked over there as Dana was getting Lena out of the car. I tugged on Mke's arm when I saw Lena and she looked about my age.
"Stacy I have my sister here with me until my mom and aunt get home."
"That's cool. This is my Niece Lena she just turned 5."
"5? That's cool."
"How old is your sister?"
"She's 7."
I wave at Lena. "Hi. You like dolls?" I boldly ask Lena.
"What kind?"
"I have all kinds in my house. I also have cars too."
"Cars?"
"Yeah. My mommy lets me play with boy and girl toys."
"Cool."
'Wanna see my toys?"
"Stef let her get settled into her new home first then maybe you can play with her if it's alright with her mom and aunt."
"But Mike I want a friend like you and anna are friends I have no friends." giving puppy eyes.
"Maybe after we get Lena settled into her room and unpack a few things then she can play with your sister for a little while. I would need to speak to your aunt about setting up a schedule for them to play." Stacy said
"Of course. She should be getting home around 4:30"
Mike helped the grownups move Lena's things into her room. You can see my room from her bedroom window. They unpacked 1 box of clothes and her toys were in her toy chest all she had was toddler toys.
"Can she see my toys now Mike?" It was 4:45 and my aunt just got home
"Stacy you wanna walk over with us? Becky should be home now."
"Okay."
We all walk back to the house and walk inside and I show Lena my room. She looks around shyly as I pull out the dolls out my toy chest. I have big dolls and little dolls and I scatter then on the floor
"You can pick what one you like to play with." Lena picks out Mr snuggles and starts playing with it. "Oh, that is Mr snuggles. He very soft I like him."
"Cool," she says shyly.
"I have kitchen set also its really fun to play with."
Lena didn't say much because she was shy compared to Stef who can talk your ear off. Stacy and Becky were sitting in the kitchen talking.
"Your niece moved in today?"
"Yeah. Your nephew was outside when she arrived with her mom and Stef was begging to play with her already."
"Yeah, my niece is a little stubborn if you tell her no she will beg and beg until you give in."
"They can play with each other even though your niece is a little older."
"How old is your niece?"
"She just turned 5 a few weeks ago."
"Well me and Sharon both played with younger kids when we were both Stef's age and Sharon did the same with Mike and she said she was going to do the same thing with Stef."
"That great that you let them play with kids at different ages."
"Yeah, it helps younger kids not be so shy."
"Yeah, I read about that. Hey if Stef wants to play at our house to she is more then welcome to."
"Okay. But either Sharon, Mike, or I will walk her over we won't allow her to just walk over there whenever she feels like it."
"Okay, I can walk Lena over here to play also."
"When school starts Stef can't play until her homework is done and she has to be back in the house by 5."
"I agree with you on that."
"And for sleepovers witch, I'm sure it will come up it can't be every weekend maybe every other weekend or once a month."
"Of course and they can rotate off who's house they sleep at."
"I'm making Spaghetti tonight you wanna stay over here and have some dinner and your sister can come to this way the kids can play for a while?"
"I would like that."
Lena's aunt got her sister to come over and my mom came home and we all sat in the dining room and ate the Spaghetti. I was having a good time even though Lena didn't say much she loved Mr snuggles so I let her keep him to make her feel welcomed after she went home I got ready for my bath time and then I was in bed by 8:30.
