Becky:
It was the Summer of 1993, My sister Sharon had moved to Manhattan to Pursue her Carrer as an Actress on Law and Order and I recently have gotten Stef a Stereo that had a good base on her 10th Birthday with a few CDs. I would hear her play Boyz to Men, Mariah Carey, and Aerosmith a lot. She played others also, but that what I heard her play mostly. Lena had become her best friend over the past few years she made a few other friends but Lena was her true best friend and Lena been spending a lot of nights over here with her and they always locked the bedroom door. I have been dating Monica for almost 3 years now and I'm in the kitchen getting a glass of wine for me and Monica and we see Stef go into her room with Lena and close the door.
"Maybe we shouldn't right now since she's home with her friend," Monica said to me as she kissed my cheek softly.
"She won't bother us. They will be in her room probably till dinner time. We will be okay babe."
"You sure?"
"Yes, babe." We hear the stereo go on "Come on babe."
"Okay."
We go into the bedroom forgetting to lock the door and start making out deeply.
Stef:
I am 10 years old and Lena just turned 8 last weekend and we go into my house to hang so we go into my room like we always do and locked the door like always and put my Stereo on and put some Mariah Carey on. I lay on my bed on my stomach next to Lena and talk.
"Stef you ready for 5th grade?"
"Sorta. We do field trips to tour middle schools and we do field day for a whole week."
"That sounds like fun."
"I guess. Wanna play some Mario?"
"Sure."
I turn Super Nintendo on and put Mario on. We play for about 2 hours.
"Stef can we watch a movie or put slow music on."
"Sure." I put some Boyz to men on. My stomach has been feeling funny all day but I try to ignore it and we lay on the bed.
"You Okay Stef?"
"Yeah, my stomach just hurts I don't know why."
"You wanna just lay down then?"
"Sure."
"You want me to go home?"
"No, you can stay with me."
"Okay."
I lay there with Lena for a little while. I go to use the bathroom and I get very shakey because I see blood in my panties and I don't know why. So I go to find my aunt and her bedroom door is shut so I open it fast and she naked and sweating and making weird noises
"AUNT BECKY AUNT BECKY."
"STEF?" Tries to cover up "Can you give me a minute love."
"ITS AN EMERGENCY" tears fall down my face
"I will be out there in a minute just let me put something on."
"FINE" walks out and goes to my room and laying in my bed crying and Lena sees me crying for the first time and gets worried when my Aunt Becky comes in my room
"Stef?"
sits up with tears. "I'm sorry."
She sits by my feet. "Love what's going on?"
"I'm bleeding"
"You know we have band-aids in the bathroom and in the hallway closet."
"But I'm bleeding down there I don't know why. My stomach has been hurting all day to I thought it was just gas pain or something."
"Oh love. You're just growing up. You're becoming a young lady. You're starting your cycle."
"Cycle?"
"Yes, love. You get a monthly cycle and bleed down there for 5-7 days it's natural all girls get it. Most girls start it when there 11 but some not many start at your age and even some start it later."
"I don't want it."
"I know love no one like them. I hate them too."
"You get them?"
"Yes love most girls get them till there about 50 but some end early."
"I hate it."
"The reason it happens because your body is telling you things that your ready for something I don't want you doing it until your in college."
"I don't need the sex talk. Eww gross."
"You may think it's gross now but in a few years, your body will want it and want to do it with someone you love like your mom and dad were by doing it with a boy. But it's not wrong if you get feelings for another girl."
"Feelings?"
"Yeah, romantic feelings where your stomach gets a tight feeling inside when someone touches you gently or when you have your first kiss with that person. Sometimes when you kiss someone you just get numb and that means its a normal kiss but if your stomach gets jumpy and your body feels weak and you don't want to stop those are the best kisses because it means your in love. When the time comes for the love of god please please make sure the guy wraps it and if it's with a woman make sure it's not just a random person."
"I promise."
"Okay go get cleaned up and I will show you how to put a maxi pad on."
"Okay." I go into the bathroom with clean clothes and takes a quick shower and my aunt shows me to use the pads and tells me how often I am supposed to change them. We have dinner then me and Lena go back in my room and lock the door and put a movie on and we watch My Girl while I lay down and Lena looks into my eyes asking permission to hold me because she knows I'm sad and feels embarrassed about that conversation I had with my aunt in front of her and I nodded and let her. Once I layed in her arms I felt more relaxed and I slept in her arms all night.
