Surprise Visit

Carmen had called you when she left to give you a heads up that he hadn't left his office all day and had been in one discussion or meeting after another with the latest being with the detectives from SVU.

She filled you in the best she could on how his day had been and it wasn't until she mentioned just how many cups of coffee he had downed that you realized just how rough the day was for him. She warned you he had been extra sassy and grumpy with each meeting and it had reached an all time high with the current intrusion in his office.

After 5 hours had passed since Carmen's call and you still hadn't heard anything from him you decided to take matters in your own hands.

As you walked out of the elevator you weren't surprised to see the lights in his office shining bright against the black of the night outside and a mixture of voices coming from the other side of the door.

From the sounds of it he was up against a few detectives in an argument on a case. It was past midnight and you knew neither side would be getting their way tonight. You took a deep breath as you opened the door to his office with a bag in your hand.

As the door opened all eyes landed on you but the only eyes you looked for were the emerald green ones of the man leaned on his desk. His jacket was off, sleeves rolled up, tie gone, and his hair product was long erased from his ruffled curls. You saw the hunch in his shoulders and as his head lifted from its dropped location you saw the frustration in his eyes change to confusion when he saw you.

"This is a closed meeting ma'am. We will put the bin outside when we leave?" Carisi stated as he went to move you out of the office so the group could continue discussing the case and the pictures scattered over the table in front of them.

As the detective moved closer to you you shot a questioning and a very annoyed look to Rafael. His eyes met yours from across the room and he gave you a slight smirk and a raised eyebrow already knowing what you were going to do.

"Actually Detective, I was here to bring my husband a change of clothes and some food but now that I am here I think I will take him home instead." You state as you placed the bad down on top of Rafael's desk and move place a hand on his bare forearm.

As the two of you shared a quick kiss you couldn't help but see the surprised and shocked faces of the others in the room.

"I am sorry ma'am.. I didn't realize.. he never said.." Carisi stumbled as he tried to speak.

"Carisi calm down." Rafael stated as he leaned against the front of his desk and went to put a hand on your hip to hold you close.

He wasn't surprised you showed at his office and had a feeling it was Carmen who spilled the beans. What he was surprised about was how long it took you to show or call him.

He knew this wasn't the best way to allow the squad in on his personal life as the two of you had long agreed to keep distance from each other's respective offices to protect you from the threats of his work. As much as he hated it no longer mattered he was grateful you were there with him.

"Y/N I would like you to meet the ever charming Detective Carisi and the rest of the SVU squad." He said as he waved a hand around the group.

"It's good to meet you Y/N. Umm.. if you don't mind me asking. How long have you guys been married?" Olivia spoke up as she shook your hand.

"Almost 4 years." You say as you felt a slight squeeze on your hip as the group in front of you shared a few looks of surprise between them.

"Well Detectives, and Lieutenant, there is homemade arroz con pollo in the bad as well as fresh coffee. Feel free to help yourselves and stay as long as you like. However, I am taking Raf home so you will need to let yourselves out when you are done." You stated very matter of factly as you took his hand in yours.

"After you mi amor. Detectives." He stated as he nodded his head to the group and allowed you to lead him out of the office.

As the two of you walked out he threw an arm around your shoulders and pulled you close before placing a gentle kiss on your forehead. He let out a sigh and you felt the weight of his stress added to your shoulders as he allowed you to help him carry his burdens, if only for a few minutes.

"Thank you Carino." He stated before the two of you ended the elevator leaving a very surprised detective and a rather amused Lieutenant standing in his office watching the two of you.
