Where's My Mind
Hoo boy I've been gone for a bit, haven't I? These past few months have been crazy beyond belief, and I've been battling constant stress. Which makes me sad because I was sooo excited to finally write more, only to have all that motivation be gone X'D Oh well. Regardless, I still have lots of projects that I am working on. I will be slow, but I'll still get things done!
This fic was inspired by the song "Bellyache" by Billie Eillish. Yes, another Billie inspired fic from me. Get used to it because she's a massive inspiration for me XD I hope you enjoy!
It was no secret that Dr. Nefarious was a psychopath. The entire scientist community was fully aware of and disgusted by his diabolical ideas. Still, even after being shunned, Nefarious kept up his work and slowly descended deeper into madness. His insanity only escalated after being transformed into a robot due to the careless actions of his nemesis, Captain Qwark.
After his transformation, Nefarious found himself losing any shred of sanity he had left. Sure, he has been deranged for as long as he could remember. However, having his entire physical form take such a drastic change was too much for him to handle.
Full of rage and confusion, Nefarious spent every waking moment throwing more temper tantrums than usual, screaming while gripping his face tightly and stomping around. His tantrums would go on until his robotic brain shut itself down for a few hours, only for the fits of anger to resume the moment he awakens. No matter how badly Nefarious wanted to calm down, he couldn't escape the irresistible urge to hurt or kill something. Anything.
Not even Nefarious' butler, Lawrence could do anything to stop the doctor. The normally level-headed butler was also genuinely disturbed by Nefarious' transformation, barely speaking to his boss or even being in the same room with him. As Lawrence distanced himself from the doctor, he could hear his screams as if he was standing right next to him. During the brief moments that Nefarious was sleeping, Lawrence could still hear the maniac's screeching echo through his own head.
One early morning, when the sun hadn't yet come up, Nefarious informed Lawrence that he would be taking time to himself for just a bit. He decided to go back to Blackwater city, where his most recent failures took place. Nefarious made his way quietly into the city and without a moment to think, he slashed his metal claws against a building wall without any effort. Pure fury fueled the doctor as he screeched while leaving massive claw marks on the sturdy surface. He marveled at his newly formed strength before he continued scratching the wall while walking away from his original spot.
Nefarious shook with an odd mix of anger and excitement as he started to laugh maniacally. He couldn't help but unleash the rest of his strength by slicing and tearing up everything, and everyone in his path. Innocent lives screamed and scattered to get away from the giant metal monster, but they weren't fast enough. Soon, Nefarious had calmed down and decided it was time to leave the city, followed by a trail of blood behind him.
The mad scientist walked away from the scene with his head held high. For once in his life, he had full control over all of the pathetic creatures that once shunned him away. Before he could make it far, he heard sirens in the distance. Not only was Nefarious turned into a shiny, almost glowing robot, he had also grown several feet taller in height. He knew he would be too easy to spot and capture. Nefarious had no idea if he could take on the strength of a hoard of authorities by himself. Killing a bunch of smaller organic people was easy, but a team of highly elite officers? They could be too strong. Or Nefarious could overpower them easily. He didn't know. And he wasn't ready to find out.
Nefarious took off running before anyone else could see him. Of course, they had to have heard the sound of his metal joints clicking loudly. The indistinct chatter of the officers rang in Nefarious' head. Nefarious started to panic. His back sunk against the side of a building before he started nervously biting at his clawed finger tips. Biting his nails was a nasty habit he had as an organic life form, now it wasn't as satisfying.
When the officers' voices quieted down, the doctor used his communicator to ring up Lawrence. Nefarious said no words out loud, making sure not to give away his location to the officers.
Lawrence answered the call, "Yes, Sir? What can I-"
Nefarious hung up immediately and turned his head side-to-side to see if anyone noticed Lawrence's voice. Sure enough, an officer in the distance shouted, "Over there! I heard something!"
Once again, Nefarious took off running, not looking back. He managed to be completely out of the city within a few short minutes. He was soon surrounded by wide-open, grassy spaces with only the occasional abandoned building. There was nowhere for him to hide anymore.
The doctor couldn't tell if the officers were still onto him or not. Although it was now perfectly quiet, so it must have been safe enough to try and call Lawrence again. Nefarious rang up his butler only to go straight to voicemail. He growled into his communicator, "Listen very carefully; a swarm of Blackwater City's authorities are chasing after me, with intentions to kill me on sight. If you show up any later than the next five minutes, I WILL TEAR OUT YOUR SISTERBOARD WITH MY BARE HANDS!"
His yells were loud enough that it was easily heard all the way back into the city he had just left behind. The lights from the officers beamed towards Nefarious and he knew there was nothing he could do. "This is it," he thought to himself. "I'm going to be imprisoned for life, before ever getting my revenge. I'm going to be captured by a bunch of insignificant, squishy creatures! Pathetic!"
No, that won't happen. It can't happen. Nefarious was a genius- a newly built, incredibly powerful genius. He was going to put up a fight; a horrific, bloody fight. Nefarious rubbed his claws together and readied his stance. The morning sun began to rise as the officers could soon be seen running out of the city, towards where Nefarious was standing.
"Come on, squishies…" he snarled, "come and meet your maker…"
The team of officers all made eye contact with the mad doctor, fueling them to run faster. They all aimed their blasters and were ready to fire. Before they could pull their triggers, a small ship flew by and hovered next to Nefarious. The driver's window rolled down. "Pardon me," said Lawrence, "but I do not recommend taking on that many authorities at once, Sir. After all, you haven't gotten used to your new form yet, and it would be absolutely dreadful if you were to be killed so easily."
Nefarious let out a short screech before he clumsily climbed into the ship and ordered Lawrence to take off at once. The officers on the ground began to shoot at the ship, right before the butler engaged the teleporter. The duo was immediately transported back to their base without an issue.
Nefarious slid down in his seat and groaned in relief, "Where would I be without you, Lawrence?"
"Hmm… Most likely you would be imprisoned, dead, or floating around in space like forgotten debris… Sir."
