The "Seven Wonders" of Radiant Garden High
Wednesday, September 9th, Radiant Garden High School, Coach Jihl Nabaat's office…
Larxene, Marluxia, Braig and a few members of their clubs and squads stood in Coach Jihl's office. She had announced something about "vendetta" and sat in her chair facing the window like she was a mob boss. The coach turned and said, "I trust that you all are ready to get some vengeance, correct?"
"Vengeance?" Marluxia asked.
"Yes. We will get our revenge on those wronged us and we'll show them that we're not to be trifled with. Now who's with me? Who wants to get vengeance on the nerds and those beneath us?" Coach Jihl said, getting out of her seat.
Braig and the archers were the first to raise their hands, wanting revenge after what happened last semester. Marluxia hesitantly raised his hand and Larxene reluctantly did. She hadn't a clue what Coach Jihl had planned but figured that she would learn in a few moments.
"The JROTC are having another 'Test of Courage', despite it being banned last year. Their 101st, that is. We'll go and sabotage it easily as this year's theme is the 'Seven Horrors of Radiant Garden High'," Coach Jihl told them.
Larxene got it and said, "You want us to go and pretend to be the different horrors of the school? Like the 'Guffawing Fredbear' art room?"
"Yes. I'll slip you all the key before school is out so you can get in. I expect a full report that includes the nerds and wannabe soldiers wetting their pants. Dismissed," Coach Jihl said.
After school, Prof. Sazh's classroom, 10 p.m.…
"Everyone! At attention!" Firion yelled.
Ven, most of the KS squad and the JROTC looked at him as he started their rather late night meeting. Ven really wanted to go home and go to sleep, but heard that Captain Laguna wanted to put the squad and others interested through another "Test of Courage" challenge. He promised them that it wouldn't be as bad as the one last semester and Ven still had nightmares of his crashing through a home's roof.
"Vivi, Tidus, Yuffie, Shuyin and new recruit to the JROTC, Rydia, will head for the stairs at the east side of the school. Yuna, Demyx, Isa, Garnet, and the new recruit to the KS team, Eiko, will take the stairs at the west side. Yazoo, Kadaj, Roxas, Loz and Kuja will take the stairs near the principal's office," Firion said, reading off a chart.
Zack nodded and said, "The test is simple. Go to the art room, music hall, teachers' lounge and the first and second floor science labs, in that order. Leave your names on the whiteboards and head for the gym after you're finished. Pretty simple, really."
"And due to our 'rock, paper, scissors' match, the first group to go is Yuffie's," Prof. Sazh told them.
"What? Why do we have to go first?" Tidus yelled.
His twin gave an evil grin and said, "Don't tell me you're scared, 'crybaby'."
"Hey, I'm not scared! I'm just taking this test so no one can call me a wuss!" Tidus yelled.
Kadaj leaned back in his chair and said, "Can we start now? We're already pushin' our luck as it is stayin' here."
"Okay then! Enough with the chatter! Let's get the party started!" Captain Laguna yelled.
He kicked the door open and pointed a finger at the darkened hall. Kadaj's group stared at the dark abyss and everyone heard Loz whimper, "I'm not in my happy place guys."
"Don't cry, Loz. It's the same halls we always walk through, just dark," Yazoo said, trying to comfort the big guy.
Isa's group passed by and he said, "If you guys are too scared, it's no big deal for us to go out first."
As they passed, the newbie Eiko had a death grip on Demyx's ocean blue shirt. He held onto her, equally scared. Yuna and Garnet held onto the flashlights they had brought with them and followed their group out.
The next group to go was Kadaj's, despite Loz protests. The last was Tidus'. The five stared at the darkened halls and Vivi whimpered, saying, "I'm afraid of the dark! I'm afraid of the dark!"
He held onto Yuffie and the second newbie Rydia, mostly holding onto Yuffie. The Wutai looked down and said, "It's okay. Just stay close."
"I don't like the dark…What if 'Golden Freddie' or 'Nightmare' comes out?" Rydia asked.
"Uh…what?" Ven asked.
"Fredbear won't appear. It's just a rumor," Zack said.
"Now get outta here!" Firion said, pushing the final group out of the room.
The only ones left was Captain Laguna, Prof. Sazh, Firion, Ventus and Zack. Ven, having a bad feeling, asked, "Uh…should we go out there?"
"In the dark? No way, man," Captain Laguna said.
Ven, still having a bad feeling, took a flashlight and ran out of the room. Firion and Zack quickly followed soon after.
With Tidus' group, the art room…
Tidus opened the door to the 2nd floor art room and saw that the place looked normal. Desks, art tables, easels and chairs were around the room. The whiteboard was on the far right side of the room and Tidus rushed in, thinking that the board was clean.
Instead he saw the names of Kadaj's group.
"Oi! When did they get here?" Shuyin yelled.
Tidus grabbed a marker and said, "Well, at least my name'll be up there before yours, Shuyin."
Shuyin lunged at his twin and yelled, "Oi! I'm the oldest! Gimme the marker!"
The two began fighting and Yuffie called out to them.
"While you guys are at it, put Vivi, Rydia and my name's up there too. Save us the walk," Yuffie said.
She looked down at her left hip and saw the whimpering Vivi, who was hugging her waist. Rydia was on the other side and also held Yuffie's waist. The Wutai teen sighed and saw that Shuyin managed to wrench the marker from his brother, proudly putting his name on the board first. After he did so, the sound of distorted laughter filled the room.
The five froze and Vivi, Yuffie and Rydia turned around. Vivi was the first to say anything, whimpering, "Oh God…no…it's the first of the 'seven horrors of Radiant High': the 'Guffawing Fredbear'!"
The usually stable and friendly golden Fredbear statue the school had bought from the very popular pizza franchise came to life and stared at the teens with harsh, red eyes. It then roared, revealing exceptionally sharp fangs.
"GAAH!" the five screamed, running out of the room and down the hall.
Isa's group, outside of the third floor's girls' restroom…
Isa and Demyx waited outside of the girls' restroom as the three girls had to go "freshen up". As they waited, Isa became bored and pondered the females' reasoning for going to the restroom in large groups.
"What's the deal with that?" he said aloud.
"What's the deal with what?" Demyx asked him.
"Girls and going to places in big groups. What's with that?" Isa asked.
Demyx shrugged and told him, "Maybe they don't want anything to happen to each other or something like that."
Isa saw something from the corner of his eye and turned to the right. He saw the visage of a woman in red walk down the stairs. He followed and saw nothing.
"What's wrong? Didja see something?" Demyx asked him.
Isa rubbed his eyes and said, "Nah. Just my imagination."
A laugh was heard and Isa looked down the stairs again, only to see that the stairs had went down in an infinite loop. He gasped and said, "Oh…crap."
"What just happened? Did we…just step into the second horror of Radiant High: SCP-O87-B?" Demyx asked, terrified.
Isa, not one to believe in urban myths, said, "Nah. It's just our imagination. And that thing is just a story made up by the guys who made the 'SCP Container Breach' game."
The two, much to Demyx's better judgment, began walking down the stairs, trying to find the bottom.
Inside the 3rd floor's girls' restroom…
Yuna and Garnet waited patiently as Eiko had finished washing her hands. Once she was done, Yuna remembered another "horror" of the school. It was known as the "third horror: Lady Ursula, the sea witch." Supposedly, if someone was to knock on the fourth restroom stall at the left wall after dark, the sea witch would appear and dragged them down the toilet and into the abyss. The story was absolutely absurd and Yuna wanted to test it. When she announced her doing so, her cohorts weren't too supportive.
"Please. Please don't test it," Eiko begged.
"Nothing will happen. Trust me," Yuna told her.
"Uh…I really don't think you should do it…" Garnet said.
Yuna knocked on the fourth restroom stall on the left wall's door and nothing had happen. She smiled, turned to her friends and said, "See? It's just a really, really bad story."
"Who is it?" a voice asked.
The trio jumped and slowly turned to the stall. Moments later, the door swung open and the girls rushed out of the bathroom, screaming. As they ran, Yuna had held onto Eiko's arm, trying to keep the smaller teen out of harm's way. Instead, the arm that she had grabbed was Garnet's.
"What the…? Where's Eiko?" Yuna asked her, releasing her arm.
"I dunno. I thought she was with you," Garnet said.
The two then saw the golden Fredbear barrel down the hall and they took off running, screaming even louder than with the sea witch.
With Kadaj's group, teacher's lounge…
Kadaj's group was doing quite well. They were ahead of the others, putting their names on the white boards they had found. They only took a few breaks, which was mostly stopping for Kuja to record himself via his phone, making logs like he was on the 'Clair Witch Project'.
Loz tried his best to hide behind Yazoo the whole time they explored the darkened school. Roxas had a death grip on the flashlight he used. Yazoo was bored the whole time while Kadaj kept yelling at Kuja to keep up with the others.
When the five reached the teacher's lounge, Kuja made another log, saying, "Tribal's log, entry 23. We have reached the empty teacher's lounge which is a lot more underwhelming that I thought it would be. The only things I see are a few round tables, chairs, a microwave and a coffee machine on the counter and a water cooler. There are a few plants in the corners and a door that looks like it could be storage. Nothing too special. But I hope that we don't run into the fabled 'fourth horror of Radiant High: the Guardian Golem of the Teacher's lounge.'"
"Wait, what?" Roxas said.
"What…golem?" Yazoo asked.
A loud groan was heard and the boys yelped. Loz began to cry, saying, "I'm SO not in my happy place, guys!"
Something behind the storage closet began banging on the door and the five started backing towards the entrance. Seconds later, the door was broken down and the four saw an undead creature with a glowing orb in its chest. It turned to face them and the five screamed bloody murder. Moments later, they took off, running for their lives at the golem chased them.
With Ven, Zack and Firion…
The trio had arrived at the top of the third floor as they searched for the others. Ven had told the two that he had a feeling that something bad was happening while the test was going on. Firion thought it was just his imagination while Zack thought the boy had gas.
"I don't have gas! I'm not lactose intolerant like you!" Ven yelled.
"Hey!" Zack said, sounding hurt.
Firion suddenly screamed and the two saw what he was looking at. It was a mirror they had found. It was an odd sight and Zack said, "Uh…I hope this isn't what I think this is…"
"What?" Firion asked.
Ven remembered tales from Aqua and Terra on the "fifth horror of Radiant High: the cursed Dark Mirror on the 3rd floor landing." They said that if one was to make eye contact with their dark reflection, the shadow would drag them in, sending them into a darkened realm for all eternity. He wanted to leave, but he had to see if the rumors were true. So, he stood in front of the mirror.
"Ven, what are you doin' man?" Zack yelled.
The teen stared at his reflection and said, "I was just checking something, Zack."
"Get away from there!" Zack yelled.
"WAH! What is that?" Firion screamed.
Ven turned around and saw a dark version of him with black as night skin, hair and nails…er, claws…Red eyes stared back and him and red fangs peeked from its mouth. Ventus screamed and the shadow pulled itself out of the mirror. Without waiting for it to fully come out, Ven took off, heading down the stairs. Firion and Zack ran, screaming rather high pitched squeals, as Shadow Ven chased after them.
With poor Eiko…
In tears as she was lost in the school, Eiko sobbed, saying, "Yuna, Garnet, where did you guys go? Waah!"
As she kept walking, she didn't see a lady with long, black hair and wearing red sneaking up behind her. She had a wide grin on her face and was about to scare her when Eiko turned around. With tears clouding her vision, Eiko asked the woman, "Garnet is that you?"
"Uh, why are you crying?" the woman asked.
Eiko's sobs became louder and the woman felt sorry for her. She then hugged her and said, "C'mon, come with me."
With Isa and Demyx, within "SCP 087-B"…
"Uh, Isa?" Demyx asked.
"Yeah," Isa replied.
Demyx looked around, not seeing an end to the stairwell. He then asked, "Um. How long have we been climbing these stairs?"
"I dunno. But the end's around here somewhere. We just gotta keep going," Isa said.
"Are you sure? We've been climbing these stairs for at least 15 minutes," Demyx told him.
"Just your imagination," Isa told him.
"Yeah, but what if this really is the never ending stairwell of 'SCP 087-B'?" Demyx said, ready to panic.
Isa shook his head and reiterated, "It's just your imagination. We'll find the end."
With Yuna and Garnet, 2nd floor halls…
After losing Fredbear on the third floor, Yuna and Garnet started searching for the lost Eiko, hoping that she didn't lose her life to one of the school's "horrors". As they did, Yuna began running and calling out her name.
"Eiko! Where are you?" Yuna yelled, running down the halls.
Not wanting to be left alone, Garnet chased after her, screaming, "Hey! Slow down!"
"EIKO! Please answer so your grandpa won't kill me for getting you killed!" Yuna yelled.
She ran even faster and Garnet screamed, "Will you please slow down?"
"No! Eiko's in danger and it's all my fault!" Yuna told her, still yelling.
"Just slow down for FIVE SECONDS!" Garnet bellowed.
"NO!" Yuna yelled, still running.
With Tidus's group, music hall…
Catching their breath and finally getting far away from Fredbear and the wandering Guardian Golem, Tidus, Shuyin, Vivi, Rydia and Yuffie sat on the floor of the music hall. The first to say anything was Vivi.
"Uh…G-Guys…I don't think I can do this 'test of courage' anymore," he said.
"Wait, what?" Shuyin asked him.
"Um…I heard that if-if you see all seven horrors, you be…" Vivi said.
Rydia interrupted him, screaming, "You'll BE CURSED FOR LIFE! FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH 'BAD JUJU'!"
The other teens stared at her, thinking that she was being a bit overdramatic. Shuyin came back with, "O-okay. We'll just get finished with this quickly so we won't get 'cursed' or whatever."
The piano in the far end of the room began to play and the five began screaming. They turned to see that Fredbear had caught up with them and somehow was able to play the instrument. With a creepy, bloodied, fang filled grin, he looked at them with red eyes and gave a deep, demonic-sounding laugh.
"GAAH!" the five yelled, tossing chairs, small instruments and music books they found.
To their surprise, the oversized, golden bear that was supposed to be stuffed with fluff, was hit twice. Once by a tambourine and by a music book. Thinking that it was safe, the five waited to see what had happened to Fredbear. It recovered and roared at them, getting up from the piano and barreling towards Vivi.
"WAAH!" Vivi screamed, running out of the room first.
Fredbear paid no attention to them, focusing its attention on the young teen.
"Vivi!" Tidus yelled, running after him.
The others followed, hoping that Tidus wouldn't get himself or Vivi killed.
Kadaj's group, Science Hall…
Kadaj looked around and noticed that the room was quiet, too quiet. No one had written on the board and he couldn't tell if someone had been in there. The others noticed and Roxas said, "Huh. Weird. I thought the others would be here by now."
Due to the overwhelming fear, Kuja screamed, "Maybe they fell victim to the…the…!"
"They probably got caught by horror number six, 'Nightmare Fredbear!'" Kadaj added.
Haunting laughter was heard and everyone turned to the far corner in the room. A tall, black teddy bear with piercing red eyes and fangs stepped out of the shadows. The demonic teddy bear roared and the boys screamed bloody murder.
The first to run out was Loz, breaking down the door as he did. Kuja passed out and Kadaj and Roxas carried him out, nearly in tears as they ran. Yazoo followed, being eerily calm.
Darkened gymnasium, Radiant Garden H.S.…
"Heh-he-heh. Here they come!" Larxene said, watching from the upper levels.
Marluxia, Braig and she watched as their plan in getting back at the JROTC and KS group come together. Kadaj's group came barreling in, being chased by Nightmare Fredbear. Yuna's group trickled in, each being chased by three different "horrors" and with Isa and Demyx arriving last, being chased by "Shadow Ven". The last to enter were Tidus's group, being chased by the "golem" and "ghost of SCP-087-B".
"Yep. Here comes 'Tiger' and the others," Braig said, smirking.
Marluxia nodded in approval, saying, "Well, at least your lackeys are proving useful. Now we can prove our superiority over those nerds."
The three groups were surrounded by the "horrors" and screamed as if their lives were going to end. That it, until one of them pulled out a camera and took a picture, its flash lighting up the room. More of the "horrors" pulled out their cellphone cameras and started taking pictures of the frightened group.
"Hey!" Tidus yelled.
Larxene, Marluxia and Braig laughed, leaving the gym. They were well pleased and ready to present to Coach Jihl the frightened faces of the nerds.
With Ven, Firion and Zack…
The trio panted heavily, stopping in courtyard in the center of the campus. They lost "Shadow Ven" and Ven was worried as he hadn't seen the others. Just before they could turn back, the three saw Eiko.
She was smiling widely and Zack asked, "Why are you smiling like that and where are the others?"
"Oh! Hi guys! I was just talking to Miss Freya here," Eiko said.
The trio looked at her right and saw nothing…save for a small flame that flickered in and out of view. Ven thought that maybe they were hallucinating and was about to ask if Eiko was okay when the flame spoke.
"Oh hi! Sorry about scaring you guys earlier with the stairs and that shadowy monster that looked like your blonde friend there," it said.
"Uh…Did that thing just speak?" Firion asked.
Zack nodded slowly and Ven said, "Um…we all can't be hallucinating, right?"
"Nope. You're not and your friends are being tormented right now by those jocks. I think they're named Larxene, Blaig and Marlushia…" the flame told them.
"What?" Ven yelled, getting very angry.
"Okay, I knew something was fishy from the start," Zack said.
"Yeah, like how the jocks had evil smirks on their faces earlier today," Firion said.
Eiko looked at the three and said, "Why would they mess up the test?"
"I don't know, but this means WAR!" Ven said, personality changing to "Vanitas".
Now what Jihl did has escalated to war. Good grief…
