Chapter 1: The kidnap

"Other me--I mean Atem?" "What, is something the matter?"

"N-no...I just want to ask...After going to the afterlife...and came back just for me...did you really do it because you wanted to see me again or...did you come back against your will?"

The older boy kept quiet.

Sure, he enjoyed his time in the afterlife, so peaceful...yet...he enjoyed his time with Yugi...he was the only reason why he was able to go back...back to see his family...

He grunted, and mumbled, "I wanted to see you again."

The smaller boy could definitely hear the hesitation of his voice and sighed. "You--"

All of a sudden, a van pulled up right in front of them. "Now...that's weird...this is Yugi's house...why on Earth would a van randomly pull up in front of the gate?" Atem thought curiously. He peeked round the van and he didn't see any label if it was a delivery van or not. He pounded the door if the van and yelled, "Hey! Open up! Move your stinking van out of the way! This is our driveway, dummy!"

Yugi elbowed him and asked, "Mr...uh...I mean...whoever you are...can you move your van? It's blocking the gate..."

All they got was silence. Was the driver deaf or something?? Atem was fuming.

"HEY! I SAID MOVE--"

Suddenly, a scream pierced through the air. Atem snapped his head back to see Yugi on the ground, unconscious.

"Aibou!!" Atem cried, checking up on his unconscious hikari. He shook him gently, but to no avail.

Right before Atem could call for help, someone hit him hard at the back of his head and the whole world went black.

"Unh..." He moaned. "Yugi? Yugi!!" Atem exclaimed, recalling what had happened. Yugi was strapped to a chair, and so was he. "What? Why would anyone want to kidnap us? Sure, Yugi was the king of games...but to kidnap someone over a card game?? That would more of be Kaiba's doing...but I met him in the afterlife...he's too far...that asshole...if he is the one who kidnapped us...I swear I'll kick that guy where he shouldn't be kicked..."

"Ugh..." Yugi moaned, waking up. "Atem...what's going on? Why are we strapped to a chair?" he stammered, terrified out of his wits.

"I don't know-I'll find a way out..." Atem replied...clenching his fists tightly. He did not have a plan. He never expected this to happen.

"I think it's Kaiba..." he explained. Yugi stared at his feet.

"It can't be. Kaiba is somewhere across Japan..."

"Ah, you two are finally awake." laughed an awfully familiar voice.

"Trust me, you two were the hardest to get."Atem tried to get up, but the straps held him back.

"Damn you! Let us go!" he yelled, not afraid of his kidnapper.

"Shut up...you little brat. You don't want me to hit your little partner, do you?" The man snarled behind the Darkness.

"COME OUT OF THE SHADOWS YOU COWARD!" Atem cried, pulling the straps tightly, causing a slight tear. "Damn it! JUST LET US--"

A kick hit him hard across his face, and caused him to shut up. The frozen stare turned into a glare as warm blood dripped down his cheek.

"Don't annoy me. Now, are you going to cooperate?" The figure growled.

"Atem...let's just cooperate--" Yugi stammered.

"You know, I'd rather spare your partner...but of course...it's in my nature not to...What a pity. He is a beautiful boy. Isn't he, Atem?"

Atem flinched at his name.

"How does this man know my name?? I...only Yugi...Joey...Téa...Tristan...how would anyone else know my name...?"

Yugi glanced at him worriedly and tried his best to glare at the man.

"Y-You let him go!" He stammered.

The man turned his head slowly and smirked.

"I never expected that you would speak up." The kidnapper laughed.

"Fuck...you..." Atem groaned.

The kidnapper gripped him tightly by the neck, causing the young Pharaoh to be unable to breathe.

"Would you like to repeat that?"

"F--"

Suddenly, the kidnapper gave Atem a punch to the gut then a roundhouse kick to the face. The poor man cried out in pain as blood slowly escaped from his lips.

The man reached out for his blood and licked it.

"Still as tasty as ever..."

Atem groaned and glared at the man.

"Stop trying to think of a comeback..." Yugi mumbled through the mindlink.

"He fucking deserves...it..."

"No! The more you disobey him, the more you get injured!"

Atem stared at his feet and gritted his teeth.

"Not going to say anything?"

The Pharaoh looked away, and this action was noticed by the man.

"Heh...oh...alright. I am Odex. Heh...I'm pretty sure the Pharaoh,"

Odex stopped at the word Pharaoh and held Atem's head up by his hair and snarled. "You remember me, don't you? PHARAOH?" he spat his name out like it was Poison.

"Do you have a connection with him?" Yugi asked again through the mindlink.

"No. I don't seem to remember him."

"...Just pretend like you do...maybe he'll trust you-"

"That's stupid. As if he is that idiotic."

Noticing that the Pharaoh had no movements or words to say, Odex held Yugi's chin up, with a knife hovering below it."Pathetic. You don't know who I am. Then I'd rather you and your partner to die." "Aibou!" Atem yelled, tugging at the straps once again."Unless...you tell me...you ...admit that you killed my parents..."Atem gasped and looked up.Odex...

Atem's POV

Now I remember...I could remember everything.My mind...no longer shrouded with ...darkness...

Flashback

"Ah, Pharaoh! What a pleasure!" shouted a man.

"Papa? Who's that?" I asked.

"That's a famous expeditioner...Ronald, I assume? Priest Mahad has told me many stories about you." My father replied.

Ronald nodded and laughed. "Yes, of course."

Suddenly, a little head popped out from behind."

Ah! Yes. This is my little boy. Odex."

Ronald explained.

I gasped. He was much older than me...I was five...so...he's...seven?

"Hi." he mumbled.

A lady then got into the palace.

"I am his wife, a pleasure to meet you, Pharaoh." She stated.

I stared at Odex. He wasn't as talkative as his parents. I wonder, why is he so different?

"Hey Odex?" I asked.

He looked at me, and then turned his attention to somewhere else.

"Hey," I repeated, tugging at his sleeve.

"No." he replied coldly.

"But--"

"I said no!!" he yelled. I was stunned. I only wanted to talk to him..."I...I only wanted to-" Odex glared at me and gripped my wrist. "I am not talking to a brat." I jumped. Brat? ...He doesn't know who I am! ...I don't wanna say anything...if not...he will...not be my friend...

As far as I can remember...Odex never really liked me...and his father...was killed during the battle of the shadow riders...but Odex didn't know it was them...and thought that it was my father who killed him...and he swore to me...that he would come back...and kill the entire Egyptian empire...

NPOV

"I remember..." Atem stammered...staring at his feet.

"NOW YOU REMEMBER? IT TOOK YOU A SIX FUCKING MINUTES TO REMEMBER WHO I WAS?" Odex yelled, his voice echoing around the enclosed room.

"NOW YOU REALLY DESERVE TO DIE!"

Atem was held at gunpoint, ready to be fired at..

"No! Dont hurt him!" Yugi cried, tugging at the straps.

"Yugi--" Atem was cut off when Odex pulled the trigger, the bullet piercing his stomach, leaving a small hole leaking blood. The poor Pharaoh had a frozen look as he slumped onto the chair.

"ATEM!!!!!" Yugi yelled.

"ATEM! ATEM!!!" he cried, rapidly hitting the door of Atem's soul room. There was no answer coming from in there, thus Yugi went for a different approach. "ATEM! I'M COMING IN!" he yelled as he slammed his elbow against the door.

"JESUS--" Yugi moaned as he looked at the door. "Damn...I forgot it was metal..."

Suddenly...a shout jolted Yugi out of the mindlink.

"FBI! OPEN UP!" exclaimed someone. (Pls...this is not related to that...meme."

"Shit...the fucking...cops...well...gotta go. Cya...some other time." Odex laughed before disappearing into the shadows.

An FBI agent burst through the door of the room, allowing sunlight to shine right into Yugi's eyes. "Ah..." Yugi groaned, squinting his eyes.

"Kid! You okay? I got tipped off by someone...is your... brother okay?" The FBI agent asked.

Yugi shook his head immediately. "He was shot...please call the ambulance..."

Not long after, the ambulance came and took Atem to the hospital. Yugi stared at Atem worriedly, wondering if he could even make it.

"Deiven!" called the paramedic.

"Step on it! The kid is dying!" he yelled.

Yugi gasped as his eyes widened.

What...? Dying...?
