Of Many Attempts at Love and Raps
The next day, Wednesday, November 24th…
"Elsa…Elsa! P-Put the icicle dirk down…" Anna said.
Ven, Vivi, Roxas, Prompto, Zack and Noct hid behind her as her sister had practically massacred everyone, including teachers, in the lunchroom's vicinity. She had a crazed look in her eyes and she held up Yuna by the scruff of her shirt. All their other friends had been taken out by her, either by her freezing them or slashing at them with her ice sword.
"Elsa…Put Yuna down. She's not trying to take Marluxia from…WHOA!" Roxas said, dodging as she dropped Yuna and launched a spell of ice at them.
Everyone ran off, but poor Vivi didn't dodge in time. He was turned into a frozen statue and Ven cried out his name, as the kid was like a little brother to everyone. Elsa laughed maniacally as she tossed the sword at the frozen Vivi.
Ven rushed forward, yelling, "ELSA, NO!"
"Ven. Ven. VEN!"
"WAAH-HAA!" Ven yelled, waking up.
He had fallen asleep in class and apparently had muttered in his sleep. Vivi shook him awake and Prof. Xehanort asked, "Did my lecture bore you?"
"Uh, no. I'm sorry, Professor," Ven told him.
"If you need to cut back on your hours at your job, tell your boss so as I will not tolerate sleeping in class. Understood?" Prof. Xehanort told him.
Ven nodded and wondered what was with that weird dream.
With Roxas and Zack, library, computer lab…
"Wait, so her sister wants us to…?" Zack asked.
Roxas nodded and spoke in a low voice, "Yeah, she wants us to get someone else other than Marluxia to hook up with her."
Zack turned around in his seat, stared at several people in the library and asked, "So, did she say who or what her sister's into?"
"Yeah, she kept mentioning that she likes bad boys and Radiant Hearts and not being treated like a celebrity," Roxas told him.
Zack rubbed his chin, thinking on who would be viable. He spotted Braig and saw the jock walking up to the IT desk. He flirted with the student over it, a girl named Belle Luc, and was promptly socked in the face.
"Nope. Not him," Zack concluded.
He spotted another kid, a hoodie-wearing boy named Jack, rapidly typing something on his computer. The books next to him were titles such as "History of Macalania", "Shiva: The Ice Queen", and "Lady Snowheart: A Tale of Tragedy and Love". Remembering the boy's cold-hearted personality, Zack muttered, "I doubt 'Ice King' over there would be interested…"
"Who? Jack Frost over there? Yeah, that'd be a bad fit. An Ice King with the Ice Queen. Not good, bro," Roxas agreed.
"Yeah. Hmm…" Zack said, continuing his search.
He saw several more kids and determined that they wouldn't be a good fit for Elsa. He thought his search was fruitless until he heard, "'Sup, guys!"
"GAH-HA!" Roxas screamed, slapping his hands over his mouth.
Other students shushed him and Lea stared at him dumbfounded.
"What was that for? I was just saying hi," he said.
Roxas groaned and said, "Sorry about that. You just scared me, that's all."
"Anyway, did ya hear the news?" Lea asked.
"What news?" Zack asked.
Lea nearly hopped up and down where he stood and said, "They came out with more info about Radiant Hearts III. Said something about showing it at next year's G3 gaming summit!"
"SHH!" a student said at Lea's rising voice.
"Okay…So…?" Roxas said, not impressed.
That gave Zack an idea and he told Lea that they would see each other at lunch. When he left, Roxas asked him, "Uh, what was that for?"
"I think I found someone that would be perfect for Elsa," Zack told him.
"Uh, who? Lea? Why?" Roxas asked.
"Why not?" Zack retorted.
Roxas face-palmed, fearing that they were going to get it horribly wrong.
With Elsa, 4th floor hallway, end of the school day…
Hiding behind a trash can and watching Marluxia as he gave a few of the jocks their marching orders, Elsa watched in amazement as she admired his leadership skills. He looked absolutely stunning to her and she would tell him that if she didn't care about her reputation as the 'Ice Queen of Angels'. That and she was sure that talking with him while Larxene's in the picture would equal instant death.
Anna was wrong, she thought. Elsa wasn't stalking him. She was just admiring from afar. And there was no need for her to find someone for her. Elsa was perfectly fine with Marluxia and no one, man, woman or child, could change that.
"HI ELSA!"
"AAH!" Elsa screamed, falling forward and onto her stomach.
Vivi and Garnet found her and the tiny pseudo-mage had a grin on his face. Finding him creepy, Elsa hesitantly asked, "Um, what?"
"Elsa, we want you to come with us," he said.
"Uh, why?" Elsa asked.
"There's someone we want you to meet," Garnet said.
"Uh, who?" Elsa said, very hesitant and suspicious.
"Just come with us to the rooftop garden!" Vivi said.
Reluctantly, she followed.
A few hours before, lunchroom…
"Wait, what are you trying to make me do?" Lea asked.
Roxas sighed as Zack tried to convince him to start dating Elsa. He told the redhead that Anna would pay them each munny for getting Elsa away from a potentially life-threatening situation. That and the two already knew that Lea had a thing for her. He just tried to hide it, albeit terribly.
"C'mon. Everyone in the group knows you like Elsa. She is very pretty, though. And Ven found you practically drooling when you spied on her during after-school home-ed," Roxas told Lea.
Lea blushed and said, "C'mon. Don't make me go after her like that. And besides, what would I say? The only thing Anna said was that she likes Radiant Hearts and don't like being treated like a TV star."
Zack thought about it and said, "AHA!"
"Aha, what?" Roxas asked.
"We can spy on her and see the things that she likes. And Garnet and Shelke can look up her social media and see what else she likes. Then we can give Lea some pointers on what to say. And Lea, don't rap…" Zack explained.
Lea whined, saying, "Aw, but I'm dope! See!"
He started to beatbox, to which Roxas bellowed, "SHUT UP!"
"Aw, c'mon man! Don't kill my dreams!" Lea said.
Roxas glared and said, "Lea…if you screw this up and make me not get paid…I promise I'll make sure you won't live long enough to become a rapper…"
Zack and Lea's faces paled at the sight of a very angry Roxas. Muttering, Zack said, "And I thought Ven was the one with the evil persona."
A few hours later, rooftop garden…
Elsa sat on a bench, wondering why she was taken to the roof. Vivi and Garnet had creepy grins while taking her and she fought the urge to run. Maybe they were finally going to help her get Marluxia. But they were against the jocks, right? So, why would they…?
"Oh hi…"
Elsa saw a redhead, the boy named Lea, and he rubbed the back of his head, looking nervous. Stammering, he said, "Uh, h-hi."
"Hello, Mister Fuego. Um, what do you want?" Elsa asked, maintaining formality.
Lea gulped and said, "Uh. I…was told that you're a fan of Radiant Hearts."
Elsa's eyes widened and she said excitedly, "Oh yes! I do like the series! I'm just wondering why it took ten years for us to see the next numbered game."
"Well, they did have to give all that story so we wouldn't be lost," Lea said.
Elsa agreed, figuring that the story of Radiant Hearts III would be gigantic. The series was already known for being convoluted, thus many outside of the gaming industry couldn't follow. She then asked Lea who his favorite character was, to which he replied with "Reno, the main character's Nobody's best friend."
"Why that guy?" Elsa asked.
"Well, he's loyal and I can relate to the guy," Lea answered.
"It's not because he's a redhead like you, right?" Elsa smirked.
The boy turned away and said, "Uh, no. Anyway. I just heard that someone else was a big fan in this school besides me and my friends and…um…I didn't expect it from the cute 'Alice Angel'."
Elsa glowered, muttering, "Please don't call me that. My name is Elsa. Not Alice."
Lea caught himself, stammering, "Oh. Sor-Sorry about that. Um…"
"Okay, Lea's doing great," Zidane said, hiding in oak tree.
Vivi, Garnet, Zidane and Roxas hid in trees, watching as Lea made moves on Elsa. He was doing fine, until he called her Alice Angel. Using the ear piece, Roxas said to Lea, "Dude, why did you say that? She hates being called that."
"Yeah, give her another compliment!" Vivi said.
Lea tried, only to get rebuffed by Elsa. The Ice Queen was returning and their window of opportunity slowly vanishing. He then tried to demonstrate strength, telling Elsa on how he had defeated the Lingering Will in Radiant Hearts 2.5. It didn't work, and the girl was miffed as she hadn't beaten him.
Panicking, Zidane asked, "Roxas, what is he doing? He's screwing up!"
"I'm sure Lea will find a way to get through to her, get her out of her icy shell and away from Marluxia," Garnet told him, not as worried.
Roxas, on the headpiece, ordered, "Lea, get out of there. This was a bust!"
Lea turned away, pressing his hand to his ear. He then told his friends, "No, guys. I got this!"
"Don't you DARE rap!" Roxas bellowed.
"No, look. I got this rap. I got this rap on lock. Guys, just believe me. I'll save Elsa from Marluxia and she'll date me. So, let me do my thing, okay?" Lea said.
Elsa, who went on her phone, looked up and asked, "Uh, Lea. What are you doing?"
"Okay, ahem! 'Listen up girl, let me rock your world. Buy you diamonds, pearls. Be. My. Girl!" Lea started.
Elsa cocked an eyebrow, very confused. Lea continued with, "'What? Marluxia's gonna kidnap you. I mean, I'm just kiddin'. Let these rhymes flow, I'm just sayin'. You really cute girl. So, keep on slayin'. So, do me a favor. Stay away from Marluxia and I'll pick you up later. And only to you I will cater. So, boom!"
Impressed, Lea and Elsa heard a group in the distance yell, "OH! OH-MY-GOD! OH-HH-HH!"
Elsa, not getting what just happened, said, "Um…I'm not into rap. So…"
Roxas gasped and said, "Mission failed. We'll get her next time."
Lea looked ready to cry as he was greatly embarrassed. Zidane sighed and said, "Yeah. Just leave, Lea. It's not worth it."
Garnet felt sorry for the poor guy and texted everyone in the group that Lea had failed spectacularly. Many disappointed texts and emojis appeared in the chat. The four saw Lea say his goodbyes and he departed from Elsa.
Moments later, he went behind the oak tree Roxas and Vivi were in. He climbed it, grabbed Roxas by the collar and yelled, "DUDE! WHY DID YOU GUYS BRING HER UP HERE SO SOON! YOU MADE ME LOOK SO DUMB!"
"Hey, we told you not to rap!" Roxas said.
Vivi nodded and Lea continued with his vent. "You guys suck! I thought you guys were gonna get more info. Now Elsa's never gonna go out with me! Because you guys made me look stupid!"
"Well, we'll try again next time. Just give it until after Thanksgiving break, okay?" Garnet said.
"Yeah. I'm sure that Garnet and Shelke will find more for you and we can get our munny," Zidane said, rubbing his hands together at the thought of 5,000 munny.
"Such a time crunch, Zidane…" Garnet muttered.
Lea sighed and said, "Hopefully she'll forget…"
Monday, November 29th, school entrance, 7:30 a.m.…
"Okay. So, we got our crap together, so maybe Lea took the advice from Shelke and Garnet," Roxas said, checking his phone.
The brisk winds whipped around and the coming of winter was known to all. Ven and Roxas, like everyone else, was bundled up in jackets and waited for the school doors to open. Zack, Zidane, Garnet, Yuna, Vivi, Tidus, Shuyin, Demyx, Yuffie and the Jenova brothers stood near each other, cold and wondering where Lea was.
"Well, I told him that Elsa likes guys with long hair. And she likes dudes in black, like how Marluxia is dressed all the time," Garnet said.
"So, is he gonna…?" Demyx asked.
Isa came rushing towards them, worry in his eyes. He stopped in front of the group and asked, "W-What happened to Lea? He's…He's…"
'''Sup guys."
A teen in a black suit, tie, vest and shirt approached, walking with a dip with each step. The darker hued brethren called it swagger and Ven was surprised that Lea had some. The redhead, who arranged his spikey hair into a pseudo-mohawk, grinned and said, "Ta-da!"
"Uh, oh wow…" Yuna muttered.
"Wow, I never knew you could clean up, Lea!" Zack said, proud of him.
The other boys were amazed and were sure that he was going to screw up. Roxas, however, smiled evilly and said, "Now we can try again. Take this earpiece and we'll bring Elsa by during lunch."
"And please, no rapping. Please," Zidane told him.
Lunchtime, rooftop garden…
As they climbed the stairs to see Lea, Elsa groaned, not wanting to talk to the awkward wannabe rapper. She frowned at Yuna and Yuffie, who insisted that she talk with him again as the boy was nervous.
"Okay, if this is to get me away from Marluxia, it won't work," Elsa said, defiant.
"Um, it's not to get you away from him. It's, um…" Yuna told her.
She looked to Yuffie, who said, "It's to help you make some friends that won't treat you like a TV star all the time."
"Did Anna tell you that?" Elsa asked.
The girls stopped and nodded. Sighing, Elsa said, "I prefer to be alone, minus not being around my beloved. It's easier not to have friends as they'll betray you when the moment's right for them."
Yuna became worried, wondering why the Ice Queen thought like that. Friends were great to have, she should know. They can be like brothers and sisters you didn't know you needed and help you in times of crisis.
Yuffie, on the other hand, thought that Elsa was being overdramatic. Sure, friends could betray you, but most wouldn't. And if she was afraid of drifting apart, that's normal…And that thought suddenly made her miss Luneth.
"Well, let's just get to the rooftop before security finds us in the stairwell," Yuna said, breaking up Yuffie's melancholic thoughts.
"Okay, are you sure you're ready?" Ven asked Lea.
The redhead nodded, saying, "I studied up on all the stuff Garnet said Elsa likes. And then I read up on all the articles and stuff Shelke sent. And that Anna girl called me to tell me not to rap. So, I won't do it, okay!"
"Good. We need you not to mess up as getting Dead Fantasy XV is on the line," Roxas told him.
Lea placed the earpiece in his ear and the twins found a tree to hide in. Climbing up, they made themselves hidden among the orange leaves and saw Elsa arrive with Yuna and Yuffie. They then left the two alone and Lea started by apologizing for the embarrassing rap.
"It's okay. I'm just not a fan of rap music. Don't see how anyone gets messages across with loud bass in their music," Elsa said.
"Oh. You're probably talking about 'trap music'. That's the stuff they play in clubs," Lea told her.
Roxas glowered, wanting to yell at him to change the subject. But Lea did, complimenting on Elsa's hair. Elsa seemed a bit self-conscious, pulling at her ash blonde ponytail.
"Oh…Um…most people think my hair color makes me old…or add to my 'Ice Queen' reputation…" Elsa said, looking away.
"No, no, no. It's doesn't make you look old at all. In fact, it looks pretty cool. Heh, heh. See what I did there?" Lea said.
Elsa smirked, noticing the pun. Roxas was ready to groan again, finding the pun lame. Ven, however, shushed him and said, "He's doing great. Elsa's blushing."
His twin took another look and saw that she was indeed blushing, her cheeks turning a bright red. Lea then told her more about Radiant Hearts III and about what the creator had said about it. Elsa became enamored, asking if he had seen the trailer. He nodded, pulled out his phone and showed it to her.
"Aw, look at those two. If I didn't know any better, I'd say Lea's doing a much, much better job," Yuffie said.
Ven almost fell out of the tree and Roxas caught him by his arm, pulling him back up. She and Yuna had climbed the same tree while they were distracted and were watching as Lea talked with Elsa.
"What are you two doing here? We can handle surveillance," Roxas said.
"Three guys alone with a girl. Nope. Not happening, buddy," Yuffie told him.
"Yuffie, we're not guys like that…" Ven mumbled.
The school bell rang and Elsa said to Lea, "Oh. It's time to go. I hope I can speak with you more soon."
She smiled and left the rooftop. Once gone, Lea yelled, "YES! I did it! Woo! She likes me!"
"Well, that's just the first round. Pretty sure you'll have to work more to win her heart," Roxas told him.
"Wait, so does that mean I gotta dress like this every day?" Lea asked.
"Uh huh. So, talk with Noct if you need more stuff in black," Yuffie told him.
The redhead cried, talking about how he couldn't afford to buy suits from Noct. Ven sighed and muttered, "Well, at least he's gotten somewhere with her…I just hope this works. I really want Dead Fantasy XV."
And that's the chapter. Will Lea win Elsa's heart or will the Ice Queen finally cross over to Marluxia's side? And will Ven and Roxas get Dead Fantasy XV or the 5,000 munny reward? Stay tuned.
