Her mother had ensured she knew how to knit and all the very lady like things a woman was supposed to do. She had seen it as her duty.

When Arthur had first caught her eye, she had thought herself unworthy, her family was poor, always had been. And yet she wanted to be noticed by him in return. It was this desire that led to the very first Christmas jumper. She spent hours on it, her mother thinking she quite mad.

But he had loved it, worn it on their first date.
