Jack

I can't believe that they sent us out here to help with rubble clean up. Actually, I can, our biotics make it easy. I just fucking hate that they did. As I turn, I see Rodriguez about to take out someone's head with a large piece of rubble.

"RODRIGUEZ! Watch how you're moving that thing. You're gonna kill somebody like that." She adjusts her movements, and everyone is fine.

I see a blip on my omni-tool and look to see that I am receiving a call. I answer it, not expecting to see Admiral Hackett's face.

"Lieutenant, I need you to report to the Vancouver HQ ASAP." His tone made it seem urgent.

"Yes, sir." The call is ended shortly. I look up to my students, "I am needed somewhere else, so Prangley you are in charge. Make sure that no one gets hurt."

"Yes ma'am."

Prangley salutes me and I head of in the direction of HQ. I wonder why they need me, since they said that this was the last of the major rubble clean-up they had for us. I walked through the doors and was greeted by a Corporal who lead me through the building.

Looking around the building, it was evident that we had been through a war, but it was getting better. Businesses were starting to open up again, and there were repairs everywhere you looked. A few days was all it took for us to start trying to get back to normal.

We reached the Admiral and I came to a salute. I still wasn't used to all this military shit, it was kind of thrown to the wind during the war.

"Sir, you wanted to see me?"

"Alliance soldiers caught someone on the edge of the city, and I need you to confirm their story."

"Alright…"

I am wondering who the fuck he could be talking about and as he opens the door, I see her face. Miranda… I immediately think to what happened after Shepard's party.

Hackett starts to speak, "So you are telling me that just before Shepard turned herself in, you left. You are also stating that you did not return to Cerberus. Is this correct?"

Miranda looks at me for a brief second and turns to Hackett. "Yes."

Hackett looked to me, "She is telling the truth sir. I was there when she told the Illusive Man to fu… I mean when she ignored his orders and resigned."

Hackett just nodded his head, deep in thought, and I looked back to Miranda. She looked the same as when I last saw her. The only thing that was different was the biotic dampening cuffs around her wrists, and the fact that she looked like fucking hell. That is what this war has done to all of us.

Hackett pushed a button on his omni-tool and the cuffs released. He turned to me. "You are in charge of watching her and I have a mission for you two."

"Sir, what about my students?" Honestly, I really didn't fucking trust anyone with them.

"They will be going back to their homes until Grissom is back to a functioning state. Get together what you think you may need and meet me at the docking yard." Hackett walked away leaving the two of us alone.
