27. Chapter 27

An Unfortunate Twist

Nico made it back to where he and Leo were staying. He rushed in, surprising Leo. He was at his desk, but in his shock dropped the silvery metal and tool he was working with. Leo cried out in Spanish, "Oh my gods, Nico! What's wrong?"

Nico didn't say anything, he just grabbed his suitcase and began packing.

"Nico?" Leo asked more gentle as he put his items back into his belt. He moved to block Nico's path as they brought their clothes to his suitcase. Nico tried to go around him, but Leo used his arms to hold him in place.

Nico hung his head.

"Let me go Leo..."

"Not until you tell me why you're doing this. What's wrong?"

Nico was silent, so Leo held steady and continued,

"You can talk to me... I'm here for you."

Nico tried to avert his eyes away from Leo's gentle determined ones,

"You wouldn't understand..."

"Try me.."

Nico only shook his head, his tone grew sharp,

"I mean it, you have no idea what he's like-"

Leo cut him off, "He? Do you mean Will?"

Nico shot a dirty look at the name answering Leo's question.

"Leo, he's not right in the head... he's the real monster I've been running from." Nico said it softly.

"What do you mean? Mr. Sunshine doesn't seam like he'd hurt a fly, hell he'd probably heal it!"

Nico brought his hands to his face, "see, you don't understand. Just trust me, we need to leave."

Leo could feel Nico shaking and in that moment seeing Nico so scared, he realized he maybe didn't understand but anyone could hurt Nico like this didn't deserve the benefit of the doubt he would normally give someone.

"Nico... I believe you, but I want you to explain it better when we're in a place you feel safe. okay?" Leo spoke softly and stroked his back.

Nico released some of the tension as Leo helped ease him. Nico nodded to Leo in return.

Leo had his answer and moved away to grab his stuff, he packed his things. They checked out, then in a shadow vanished.

(I swear I'm going to finish this you guys. Thanks for staying. Ironically I had a falling out with the mentioned person from last chapter who got me to write again, however, looks like I still want to do this lol I've still not read the rest of the books, so please enjoy this demented AU I guess )
