Chapter 34:
When Percival finally felt health enough to go home, nearly two weeks had passed. Plans had been made, with Credence briefly staying at Newt's until Jacob and Queenie sorted out their affairs. Tina would flit back and forth between America, placating both sides. Jacob had gone with Adriana for a day to check out the bakery and nearby properties. Conveniently, although Percival was sure that magic was involved, Adriana's neighbours had decided to move. Percival thought that Credence wouldn't particularly want to live next to him but he didn't seem to mind. Actually, he commented that he probably wouldn't see him too much. Jacob was set to start working with the bakery owner and was setting up the purchasing of the house. Queenie had gone back to America to close up the bakery and to transfer to the British ministry. Newt did his best to look after Credence in the meantime, talking to him about all manner of creatures. They seemed to fascinate Credence.
Adriana took Percival home by apparation. He felt better the second they walked into the house. Adriana gently guided him upstairs to his room. He almost went with it but stopped at the door. She looked at him questioning.
"Why don't we go to your room?" Percival asked. Adriana opened her mouth but no sound seemed to come out. She silently pulled him along to her bedroom.
"Sorry about the mess." She whispered as they walked in. It wasn't that messy, just cluttered and considering they'd been away he couldn't fault her. They awkwardly sat down on the bed, not sure what to do. Adriana leant into him. "Do you want to lie down? I can make dinner." Percival shook his head. This was the first time they'd been completely alone, left to their own devices. He had something much more mundane than food on his mind.
"Why don't we just stay here for a bit?" He said, running a hand through her hair. She leaned into the touch. They were so close he could feel the way her breath tickled his skin. He pulled her closer, latching onto her lips. They fell back onto the bed as he started tugging at her clothes. Pieces of clothing fell to the floor as they tangled themselves in bedsheets. He focused on her. The way her body curved, how she arched. He focused on every gasp and moan. Heat radiated from her and he loved every second.
Hours later, still curled up in bed, her head resting on his chest. Percival decided he was so very lucky to have her. He snuck out of the warm sheets, dragging on some pants to go downstairs and make a snack. She murmured in her sleep, trying to reach for him. He pulled the covers back over her and smiled. He made a simple fry up in the kitchen, being sure to make enough for two. He slowly walked back up and placed the plates on the bedside table. He disappeared again to put on pyjamas and crawled back into bed.
"Where'd you go?" Adriana asked sleepily.
"I made some food." Percival replied softly. Her eyes fluttered open and she smiled lazily at him.
"Thank you." She said before propping herself up and helping herself to some food. Percival watched as she ate, smiling in bliss.
"So about Jacob and Queenie's new house?" He asked. The bacon slipped off her fork.
"About that…." She trailed off with a sheepish smile. "They were thinking about moving anyway I just uh helped them along by suggesting some places."
"Isn't that illegal?" He asked with a smile.
"Not really… I mean they were going to do it eventually." She said. She looked at him properly. "You're teasing me aren't you." He smiled and nuzzled her neck. "Besides won't it be nice, living next to people we know?"
"I suppose, I'm worried about how Credence will take it all." Percival said, voicing his main concern.
"I'm sure that he'll manage to live next door. He knows that it wasn't you, it'll just take some time." Adriana said softly, rubbing his arm.
"Time sure, but with him out there." Percival said sharply. No need for Adriana to ask who he was. The man sent shivers down both their spines. "What if he comes after Credence again?" It was a fair question and not one either had really considered.
"He's never come to Britain as far as I'm aware, Dumbledore may know more about it; so I can ask him." Adriana said thoughtfully. She put the food tray to one side and brushed her arm against Percival in a soothing motion. "And we'll protect him."
"How can we promise that we'll protect him?" Percival asked, turning from her to put his head in his hands. Her hands were on his shoulders, gentle but firm.
"We'll protect him Percival." She said, leaving no room for argument. "We'll find a way."
