The Eyes of Heavenly Fire
Chapter 21
Dimitri
Rose pulled into the gas station making a full stop with the bike as she stepped off the bike breathing heavily. Dimitri sat there frozen in time looking at Rose as if he couldn't believe that they had made it out of there alive. This was his fault. She could have been severely injured or worse killed and it would have been on his watch. He should have known that they would wait until he was at his most vulnerable. He should have known... Gathering up her breath, Rose turned to Dimitri looking frazzled as she made her way back towards him.
"Shit, you're still bleeding. Okay. I need you to give me some money, so I can buy you some band aids, rubbing alcohol, and something to eat."
"Are you sure you don't want me to go in with you? It might not be safe for you after what just happened."
"Now that I think about it, it might be a good idea."
After Rose helped him off the motorcycle, They went into the gas station where she grabbed the supplies she needed including condoms for some strange reason along with some ice cream and soda as they paid for the stuff and left him going ahead of her to regain control over the motorcycle. Yeah, she had drove both of them there, but he didn't want her risking her life any further tonight. Especially if it was for him.
"Are you sure you can handle the drive right now? You took quite the hit." Rose asked concern written all over her face.
Nodding, Dimitri took Rose's hand placing a kiss on it as his bruises started to disappear. It would take a couple of days for the rest of his injuries to disperse, but they were worth every painful wince if it meant that his Roza was alive and well.
"I'm glad that you're back. I was so scared."
"I'll be more careful. I promise. Now come on let's go." He said kissing the top of her head and getting onto the motorcycle flipping it on.
Riding in silence, Dimitri thanked God that Rose was alright as she held him close He knew that he would have to deal with the council because of his failure, but as long as she was alive Dimitri would take on even the greatest consequence as long as she was safe, whatever happened to him did not matter.
When they got to the house, Dimitri shut off his motorcycle and helped Rose off as they made their way to his room to talk about what had happened.
"Tell me what happened." Dimitri inquired giving Rose her hot chocolate as she sat on the loveseat in his room.
"The fallen kept going on and on about things that didn't make sense. I'm still not even sure what he was trying to tell me."
"What did he say?"
"He told me that there was a reason why they were so interested in me and it wasn't just my sparkly personality."
"What happened then?"
"He told me that we were truly beautiful together. Whatever that's supposed to mean."
"I'm not sure. Some of them are so insane that they start to not make sense. Maybe we stumbled onto one of them last night."
"I'm just glad you're okay."
"I should have been stronger. He could have killed you and it would have been all my fault because I was weak."
"All that matters is that we're okay. Don't beat yourself up. It was an accident."
Dimitri hugged her gently careful not to hurt her as he wanted nothing more than to put this incident behind them. Unfortunately, he knew the angel's council wouldn't let him forget this one little fuck up.
"I can't believe I almost lost you."
"You're not going to lose me, so get used to me sticking around, because I'm not leaving you anytime soon."
He laughed kissing her lightly as she smiled back at him.
"You shouldn't so that. I might end up knocking you out again."
"I'll go slow this time." He reassured her.
He gave her a slow lingering kiss as her lips upturned into a smile making her one of the most beautiful creatures in the world.
"What would happen to a human if they consume angel blood?"
"I think it kills them. Why do you ask?"
"We can get rid of Tasha that way. I just need to find a way to make her digest it."
"We can't intentionally kill her Rose. If she comes back as one of the fallen, she'll be twice as tough to beat. I know that risk may be a long shot, but it's not one I'm willing to take."
Rose started to agree until she thought of something that he never thought of. "Why haven't we asked the candle what they want with me? It's helped us before. Maybe it can help us again."
"I never thought about that."
Dimitri climbed out of the bed and grabbed the candle bringing it to Rose as she grabbed it and asked the question she wanted to all along. " What do the fallen want with me?"
