The Eyes of Heavenly Fire
Chapter 22
Rose
After Rose had asked the candle the question that she had been burning for it to answer, she was sucked into it getting spat out at the destination that it wanted her to be. She was at a hospital, as she dusted herself off following a doctor who had just brought a baby out of the labor and delivery ward to the nursery where he gave the baby to the nurse instructing her to stay with the baby girl while he attended to the other expected mothers.
The nurse nodded at the instructions putting the baby in the basinet that said baby Hathaway. Shit. Was this her?
Walking up to her past self, Rose soothed a crying her glad that the nurse couldn't see her and stayed there until two men who looked vaguely familiar stepped into the nursery looking tall and imposing. This wouldn't be good, but she couldn't stop what was about to happen. She couldn't change the past.
"You're not allowed to be in here." The nurse warned as the shorter of the two men threw her to the wall knocking her unconscious as the taller one made his way over to the baby picking her up and smiling.
The baby squirmed in his arms and let out a blood piercing wail as if she could detect danger from a mile away.
"Silence." He commanded as she struggled in his arms and wailed louder waving up her little baby fist at him. Even when she was just a baby, she couldn't trust this man.
"Sir. We should just get it over with and kill her already. It would be better for everyone in the long run."
"Ah Wilson we can't do that, the angels are watching over her as we speak, and I don't need the repercussions of their actions just yet. Besides, her guardian hasn't even been sworn in yet. They're doing that right now."
"Who is her guardian? If I may ask."
"None other than my deceased son in law, Dimitri Belikov."
Rose sucked in a deep breath but refused to leave the vision until she had more answers.
"If Dimitri is her guardian than why are we marking her?"
"Because what my dearest son-in-law doesn't know is that this girl right here is the key to defeating the dark angels."
"Why are we letting her live then? She's a danger to us all. Why would you let a human child that could destroy us all live?"
"Because we need her too. Yes, she could be the key to destroying us, but she could also be the key to destroying them as well. All we need to do is persuade her."
"How the hell are we supposed to do that?"
"That my dear Wilson, will be explained in time. For now, let's leave this girl in peace." The dark angel said as Rose was sucked out of the vision and inhaled sharply.
"Dimitri."
"I saw everything. Are you okay?"
"What the hell can I do to them, Dimitri? I'm just an ordinary girl with no real power. What the hell is going on here?"
"We'll get to the bottom of it Roza, I promise you. We'll figure it out, at least we now have more pieces to this complex puzzle. We're that much closer to figuring them out. We will survive this. You will survive this. I promise." Dimitri answered pulling her into a hug like he would never let her go and letting her cry until she had no more tears left.
