Dimitri

A week later, Rose was still on edge even though things seemed to be going pretty well for them, Tasha didn't bother with Rose seeming to forget her quest to hurt both of them as Mia was as chatty as ever despite being ran over by a car and having a broken leg. Even Adrian had laid off, but Dimitri knew what cost this peace had come at. It was obvious to any trained guardian angel. The fallen were taking their time to get rid of him, so they could get to Rose without any obstacle, and he wasn't about to let that happen. Not on his watch.

Rose and he were both in science one day, When Tasha had spoke to them for the first time in a week.

"When are you guys going to do it? This sexual tension between you two is distracting the other students."

"I don't see how that's any of your business."

"It's just distracting to everyone involved. Why can't you guys either be more subtle about it or just do it already?"

"Listen it's none of your business and if you have a problem with it then keep it to yourself. It's not that fucking hard." Ending the conversation as Tasha gave up the act causing Dimitri to wonder why the hell, she had provoked Rose to begin with.

"I'm seriously going to punch her in the face one of these days."

"Do you think we should ask the candle why she's so obsessed with our sex life?" Dimitri asked as Rose laughed making him feel better. There was nothing he loved more than making her laugh.

Finally, they made it to art as Mia saw them and smiled, she had obviously been waiting for them.

"Hey Rose. Hey Dimitri. Rose, do you think you can reach something for me Rose?"

"Sure. What do you need?"

"I need some paint off the top shelf."

Nodding, Rose went to the top shelf trying to reach the paint as Dimitri's gut reaction was to get her out of the way. Grabbing her, Dimitri got her away just in time before the shelf collapsed right where she had formally stood. Fuck. That could have hurt her if he didn't move her out of the way.

"My hero." She swooned as Dimitri sat her upright examining her to make sure she was alright.

"Oh gosh. Are you alright Rose?" Mia asked concerned.

"Yeah. I'm fine, Mia. Thanks for asking."

"I was surprised that it fell. That shelf looked so stable when I asked for the paint. I'm not sure what happened."

Helping her up, Dimitri moved Rose out of the way as two boys picked up the shelf, the paint contents all over the floor.

"I guess it's a free day." She muttered as her and Dimitri helped the teacher clean up for the rest of the period wondering what had really made that shelf fall.

After school had finished for the day, Rose threw her backpack down to the ground and stretched out on her bed yawning.

"Are you still tired?" Dimitri asked crawling into the bed with her and pulling her closer.

She nodded yawning again to confirm his suspicions.

"Thanks for saving my ass today."

Dimitri gave her a kiss before yawning himself. They were both getting better at figuring out how much they could kiss without draining him of his powers in the process. It didn't make him as tired as it used to and that was a good sign.

"Are you okay?" she asked concerned.

"Yes. Today was just tiring."

She shrugged and snuggled closer.

"We need a vacation."

"We could skip school for a couple of days during my birthday and go to Florida where it's nice and warm."

"You had me at skip school." She replied making both of them laugh.

"We both need a break from this madness, where are we staying?" she asked.

"A place where angels can go for some much-needed peace."

"Why can't we just hide there for a year?"

"Us angels like to handle things ourselves. Plus, you're staying there for a while and I'm coming back here to find out some more information."

"No. There's no way in hell I'm going to let you do that." She replied sitting up in the bed as he placed his hands on hers needing to calm her down.

"It's only for a couple of weeks Roza. What I'm about to do is going to be very dangerous and I can't protect you the way I need to without some help. There's someone in Florida that I would like you to meet and I would like you to stay there and try to keep an open mind. Can you please do that for me? Please."

"And how long are you going to stay?"

"Only for my birthday." He answered sadly as tears filled Rose's eyes.

"Who's there? The person you want me to meet. Who could be so important that you trust them to keep me safe?"

"You'll know more once we get there Roza. If the fallen are near I don't want them to hear where I'm hiding you. It's for your own safety. Now come on. Let's rest and enjoy the time we have together while we still have it." He whispered pulling Rose close as they both leaned back in the bed holding onto one another like there was no tomorrow.
