After mourning the loss of Kevin, Barbara and Jim then looked around the house for some shovels to bury Kevin and Andrea, and also to look for crucifixes. Barbara didn't want to leave Kevin and Andrea in such a manner as they killed them. They couldn't cremate them. What if the smoke contained the virus, and they accidentally inhaled the virus infected smoke? It was more logical and respectful to give Kevin and Andrea a Christian burial.
When Andrea found out she was pregnant with Kevin, she converted to Catholicism and raised Kevin in a Catholic upbringing. Although Barbara wasn't a Christian woman, she was willing to respect Kevin's Christian/Catholic beliefs. Barbara found two medium sized crucifixes in Andrea's room, while Jim found two shovels. They then carried the two bodies outside. Andrea's house had a very decent backyard with plenty of room to play in. Jim and Barbara then got to work on digging two holes. The two holes were as wide as Kevin and Andrea's respective heights. (Kevin was around 5'11, and Andrea was 5'6.) The holes down under were six feet deep.
Jim then carefully placed Andrea's body in her hole, closing her eyes, and placing her crucifix near her heart. Barbara then carefully placed Kevin's body in his hole, and gently closed his eyes. She knew she couldn't kiss his forehead as a way of saying goodbye, because then the likelihood of infection through blood contact was high. She then placed the crucifix on Kevin's heart, placing his arms so that he could hold his cross. Once Jim and Barbara were out of the burial holes, they started burying dirt on the corpses. They spent the next hour and a half burying Kevin and Andrea. Once Kevin and Andrea were buried, Barbara silently looked down at Kevin's crudely made grave, shedding tears. "I never got to tell Kevin... That I loved him..." Barbara hoarsely said with regret, "What am I gonna tell this brother?" What made Barbara sad the most was that Kevin had hopes and dreams once. Now all those hopes and dreams were gone. Jim placed his hand on Barbara's shoulder and said, "You can tell Damian that his brother loved him. As a policeman, I've watched many of my men die for many years, Barbara. If there's one thing I've learned the hard way, it's that some things are beyond our control. I've never been a Christian or a praying man, but I want to believe your friend Kevin is in a better place..."
"I think I can take comfort in that..." Barbara said as she looked at several pictures of Kevin with Bruce, Andrea, and Damian. These were actual printed photos in Kevin's wallet. "Come on, let's go find a radio," said Barbara as she got her mask back on, "Mrs. Lane might have something important to say." Suddenly, behind Barbara was another Anti-Living carrier, making a ghastly noise, ready to infect her with a bite or a scratch. Jim's parental instincts kicked in, and Jim immediately grabbed Barbara into a protective bear hug, and turned her around, protecting his daughter. The zombie then bit Jim on the back of his right shoulder, causing him to groan in pain. "NO!!!!" Barbara screamed, getting the gun and shooting the undead monster in the eye, killing it instantly. Jim gripped his wound, falling on his knees. He was trying his hardest to fight the infection. "Daddy, why did you do that?!?!?!" Barbara asked incredulously, hyperventilating. "Not... Gonna let... My little girl... Get killed..." Jim groaned, slowly dying from the infection, "Barbara... Please... You have to... K-kill m-me..." Barbara knew she didn't have enough time. Each second she wasted was another second that Jim's humanity would fade away. Barbara hated the fact that she was forced to mercy kill the man she loved and her father all on the same day. She held the gun, putting it between her father's forehead, and she tearfully said, "I love you, Daddy..."
BANG!
Barbara then shot James Gordon in the head, instantly killing him. He dropped to the ground on his back, dead. Barbara took off her mask and covered her face, sobbing. This apocolypse and having to mercy kill her father and Kevin Beaumont was on the #1 list of the shittiest things Barbara Gordon had ever had to endure in her life so far, trumping the day Joker shot, crippled, and violated her. Suddenly, a hand was placed upon Barbara's shoulder. Barbara went into fight or flight mode and jerked her head, wanting to grab the would be assailant's wrist and flip the assailant of indeterminate gender over. But then she saw it was Princess Diana of Themyscira, otherwise known as Wonder Woman. "Oh... Diana... It's just you..." Barbara said with some relief. Diana saw the sight before her and gave a look of sadness and sympathy. "I was with Clark when he heard your cry of distress, Barbara." Diana exclaimed, "He sent me to check up on you and see if you were alright. I am sorry for your loss." Barbara closed her eyes and said, "I had to kill Bruce's son Kevin, and my father... It's all my fault..." Diana placed her hand on Barbara's chin, and made her face her. "I understand your grief. But you shouldn't blame yourself Barbara," she said, "blaming ourselves won't accomplish anything. And it certainly won't bring the ones we've lost back. I'll help you bury your father. It would be cruel to leave him like this." Diana and Barbara than dug a hole that was around James's height and was six feet deep. Barbara then carefully placed her father's body on the dirt. She put his glasses back on his face, and then got out of the hole. Barbara and Diana then proceeded to bury the hole with dirt. Given Diana's Amazonian speed and strength, burying Jim took half the time. Barbara looked at her father's grave and said, "goodbye Daddy..."
Diana wrapped her arm around Barbara and said in a comforting manner, "your father was a good man. May he rest well. Come with me Barbara. We're going to need your skills if we're going to save the World of Man from this retched virus."
