Leaning against the doorway, Clarke watched the sleeping warrior thoughtfully, it hadn't been in her plan for the evening to be called on for emergency medical care. However, it had been months since she'd even bothered pretending to be surprised when her wife dragged back injured strays for her to patch up.
As Echo shifted, letting out a low whimper as she moved her arm, Clarke stepped forwards to place a hand on her uninjured shoulder to keep her still.
"Echo, can you hear me? It's Clarke." She spoke softly, waiting patiently for the other woman to focus on her through the haze of the medicinal herbs Clarke had dosed her with whilst she was sewing up her arm. "Do you remember what happened?"
Letting out a tired breath, Echo nodded, struggling to move until she managed to pull herself into a sitting position, "Very big wolf, lots of teeth. After that it's a little less clear."
"Probably for the best." Clarke smiled, handing over a pouch of strong-smelling leaves. "Grind some of these up into a paste, every morning and night, rub that into the wound and redress it each time, ok?"
"Understood." Echo replied softly, taking them from her. "Mochof Wanheda."
"Think nothing of it." Clarke chuckled, shrugging on her jacket, "I'm glad your ok, and now your awake, I'm going to go back to my wife. If there are problems, let me know and I'll have another look, but I think it should head just fine."
With a grateful nod of thanks, Echo watched as Clarke slipped from the room, leaving her to slowly make her way back to the small house that she'd been given to stay in.
The sounds of high pitched screams and dozens of small feet charging across floorboards greeted Clarke when she exited the elevator onto the floor her room was on.
Ducking an errant ball that had been thrown in her direction, she called out ahead of her, "Quiet night Lexa, you promised me!"
She only just managed to dodge a giggling nightblood, as Lexa came around the corner, a warm smile directed at her wife.
"Clarke! You're home!" Lexa cried happily, gathering her into her arms and pressing a kiss to Clarke's cheek.
"I am, and you've filled our home with dozens of deadly warriors." Clarke laughed, as one of the children ran at her with a wooden sword.
In a move that would have made Aden proud, Clarke sidestepped, before seizing the young girl around the waist and holding her out to Lexa, "Commander, save me from these fearsome Coalition fighters!"
The child in Clarke's arms fought to twist around and strike at her, but Lexa intervened, laughing herself as she took the girl from Clarke and set her down, before whispering in her ear.
Clarke quirked an eyebrow quizzically at Lexa as the girl tore off in another direction brandishing the practice weapon.
"I told her where Ontari is hiding." Lexa answered, pointing off towards the northern side of the tower, "We had a lesson whilst you were out, which turned into combat training of sorts."
"Lexa this is not training, this is hide and seek, and you know it." Clarke laughed, stepping to the side as another one of Lexa's nightbloods darted past them.
Eyes sparkling, Lexa shrugged, "I have to at least try and keep up appearances."
It was at that point they were joined by Abby and Kane, who had likewise come up in the elevator, "Commander." Kane bowed respectfully as Abby winced against the sounds of screaming up and down the halls.
"Clarke I thought the agreement was that we would have advance warning of your family's...games." Abby sighed.
"I didn't have any warning either mom, and apparently this is training." Clarke answered, smirking at Lexa who just rolled her eyes.
Before anyone had the chance to speak, there was a crash as Ontari half stumbled, half fell through a doorway, the girl who had attacked Clarke clinging to her back like a monkey.
Gathering her feet under her with some effort, Ontari righted herself, even as the girl was attempting to strike downwards with the practice blade.
Secure in the knowledge there wasn't any immediate danger of them falling, Ontari dropped her chin in an attempt to protect her face from the strikes, before reaching up to try and catch hold of the nightblood backpack she was currently carrying.
Clarke, Lexa, Abby and Kane watched in amusement as she tried and failed to dislodge the attacker, before a sharp whistle came from the end of the corridor and they looked over to see Raven stood at the other end, her own wooden sword in hand.
There was a moment of stillness as the young warrior decided what to do, before smacking Ontari once more with the sword, before scrambling down and charging after Raven who darted down a side corridor as fast as she was able.
Breathing heavily, Ontari walked over to Lexa, glaring at her balefully, "You told her where I was."
Grinning, Lexa nodded to the small trickle of blood dripping from Ontari's nose, "That's the first time I've ever seen you take a wound in training."
"That wasn't training, that was an ambush." Ontari groaned, although she was smiling herself, "I'd best go and make sure she hasn't caught Raven." She laughed, before taking off jogging in the director they had gone.
Abby looked at Lexa warily, "And is anyone fair game?"
Shaking her head, Lexa's lips quirked upwards in amusement, "Warriors only I'm afraid, although you're more than welcome to join in next time?"
"I think I'm a little ill suited to these kinds of things." Abby told her quickly, as Lexa openly grinned.
"Don't worry, they know who they can and can't play these sorts of games with."
