Unmei Force Solitary Legends: Steel Avengers
Chapter 3: Skeletons in the Closet
In the dropship…
"So, what's our next move?" Siege asked Raiden.
"We're heading to Mexico." Raiden said. "There's a lab in the sewer system down there linked to Desperado. So we're going in to shut it down." Jack said. "There's a couple things we'll need to cover though. First, I only want one other person with me down there. Makes this stealth mission go a little smoother."
Gus walked forward, as he was willing to join the mission. "Let me." He answered back. "I'm sure that I'll be of help with some ranged aid for you."
"Good. Next…" Raiden said before hitting his Codec to Erika. "Erika, status on the rebuilding of Blade Wolf A and B?"
"It's gone rather well. The AI of both units were intact. I've removed their remote piloting and AI wiping features, and given them quite the upgrade compared to what you might remember." Erika answered back through the comms. "In other words, they're both mission ready. Oh, and they also settled in on names for themselves: Black Wolf and Red Wolf."
"Makes it easy on us then. Send them to Mexico at the coordinates I indicate, we'll need those two as scouts." Raiden said.
"They're already en route." Erika responded back. "Also, if you were curious about upgrades from the K-9000 model you remember, Raiden, these two are more combat capable. I've modified their tail weapons to throw HF Daggers as well as morph into HF blades of their own."
"Nice touch. You sure are good with technology." Raiden complimented Erika.
"Please." Erika pridefully remarked back, as her image smirked cockily. "You haven't seen the depth of the cybernetic talent that I have. I'll impart you with this, Siege. I'm basically a super-computer as I am right now. Makes it easy to do cybernetic and electronic tasks as easy as snapping a finger most of the time. And allowed me to properly educate these models, and give them those upgrades."
Soon, the two aforementioned LQ-84i models returned, as they looked like they were refitted with the stated upgrades.
"Erika speaks the truth. She has refitted us with all aforementioned armaments, and also provided us with improved combat routines." The red model, named Red Wolf, responded back with the same voice as it had before. "Either way, our protocols have changed to suit your purpose, considering that it has higher priority than what was initially designed for Unit A- Black Wolf, and myself. You do not need to be concerned about loyalty to us. We are merely shackled AIs with orders to follow."
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean you two had to stay scrapped. You both talked about freedom and companionship, something I'd never thought I'd hear from AIs. Regardless, I couldn't just let you two stay in those scrap piles and rot." Jack said.
"And as AI, we are grateful that you did not terminate us. Red Wolf and myself will repay your deed by serving you in whatever task you need done." Black Wolf stated. "I am strongly grateful that I still have my companion Red Wolf by my side."
"Do not flatter me, Black Wolf…" Red Wolf said, looking away from Black Wolf in an almost shy matter. "We have a mission to carry out, we can worry about personal matters another time."
"Well if you two love birds are done talking, we should get moving." Jack said, looking over to Gus. "Speaking of which, got a disguise for yourself?"
Jack had asked this while putting on a disguise to make him look more like someone who lived in Mexico, donning a large poncho, and a large patterned cloak around his body. Gus opted to make his disguise a little more casual, sliding a zipper jack over his chest, and wearing black baggy pants over his legs.
"Take a car to the entry point near the sewers. And take both of the Wolves with you." Erika instructed the two of them. "Let me use one of the computer-directed cars to take you there."
"Got it." Jack said as he and Gus saw a car rolling up, being piloted with Erika's influence as it was in autopilot mode. The top opened, allowing Red Wolf and Black Wolf to dock into it, before Gus and Jack entered the car, before Erika activated it again, as it began to drive through the streets, from where the group remained in, which was in a small garage in the large town.
As they made their way towards the sewer system, Jack soon saw he was getting a call from Kevin Washington, who was one of his operators back before Siege met him.
"Heh, guess my team finally moved into the Hall of Origin to help on missions." Jack chuckled, soon answering the call. "Hey Kev, how's it going?"
"Hey, hey! We just got moved in, thanks for asking!" Kevin cheerfully answered back with a smile as he noticed the world they were in. "Hey, is this deja vu or-?"
"Long story Kev, for the moment you can say it is." Jack said. "I'd like ya to meet one of the partners I'm doing this with, Alex." Jack added, gesturing next to him as Gus was in the seat beside him.
"It's nice to meet someone new now and then." Gus answered back with a friendly tone.
"So, you went with the same old disguise when you first came here. And your friend isn't much better." Kevin answered back, leaning his chin against his propped-up fist. "Eh, it worked the first time, I ain't going to question if it'll work again. By the way, noticed the two other K-9000 models behind you. Wonder if Blade Wolf can actually get jealous?"
"Kevin I picked these two up because Wolf wanted to stay with Sunny. If he gets jealous I picked up two more of him, just as advanced, that's his problem, not mine. Besides, these two were put through hell, so I figure I'd throw these two a bone." Jack said, which in turn made Black Wolf and Red Wolf perk up.
"Wordplay: Our bodies are canine in structure, canines like bones." Red Wolf observed.
"Amusing on two levels." Black Wolf followed up.
"Huh, odd." Jack smirked. "Blade Wolf reacted the same way to this joke. That right there is proof that they're no less advanced than him, Kev."
"We're almost there. Time to hop off, and get out." Gus stated, pointing to the sewer entrance that was connected to the path to the lab, as the car automatically slowed to a halt.
Gus and Jack stepped out of the vehicle, as they looked around, before Jack let out an amused 'hmph.'. "Seems like there are no amigos here to watch us, it seems." Jack remarked with a intrigued tone.
"Would it matter?" Gus asked back neutrally, before the car's top shifted open, as both Wolves left the car.
They then made their way to the grate leading into the sewers, as Jack lifted it, with the Wolves going in first by diving in, then Gus who climbed down. Jack then entered the sewers himself, shutting the grate behind them.
Jack then splashed down into the sewer waters, which was only foot-deep, before the group slowly advanced.
"Here's a familiar place for you, Kev." Jack contacted Kevin. "Remember where we're at?"
"The sewers to the lab… Well, from what I heard from your solo operator… Things are going along the same, yet there's a lot that's different. I'd be treating this like a new mission, despite the similarities." Kevin advised the group.
"We're well aware of that." Gus answered back. "We had a few nasty surprises during our missions here."
"The first one being mass produced Metal Gears… 3 MG-Rays decided to crash our rescue attempt for President N'mani. " Jack noted in concern. "But we dealt with that quite well. At least that's what the other guys told me."
"Wait… did you just say mass-produced Metal Gears!?" Kevin asked in shock. "That's definitely not a good sign. It's like you weren't even here before!"
"I wasn't." Jack replied back blatantly.
"So wait… this world didn't have you in it before now?" Kevin asked. "If things are going as bad as they are already… no telling what is waiting for you down there…"
"We know, Kev, we know." Jack said in response.
"Well, all I gotta say is good luck." Kevin said. "You'll need a lot of it where you're going. You know the drill here, I'll just sit by and watch you guys deal with this."
"We will scout ahead. You will deal with the enemy threats ahead." Black Wolf told Jack and Gus, before they then bolted off around the corner, before a report from them came quite quickly. "Raiden, Alex: Unidentified UGs are patrolling the sewers. Exercise caution."
"Don't worry about us, still, thanks for the heads-up." Jack responded back, before he then drew his blade. "Let's go."
The group soon proceeded around the corner, before Gus quickly halted Jack, as he already detected the enemy. Jack's eyes followed along the trail of water drops hitting the sewer grounds, before Gus already pulled out a sniper rifle, as he was aiming right at a ape-like cyborg, with a mask over its head, orange eyes glowing behind it, and having a vulcan cannon attached around one of its wrists. Before it could aim and fire, Gus shot it right in the head, dislodging the large cyborg, before it then splashed on the ground. Jack then rushed up before then slicing its body to pieces with little effort.
"Mastiffs… That single one tried to sneak on me when I first came here." Jack growled, before turning to Gus and giving him a thumbs-up. "Good eye, you nailed it right where it hurts."
"No problem." Gus responded back, before he then placed the sniper rifle onto his back, as there was a portable weapon cache on his back, which allowed his easy access to his weapons.
The two of them made their way up a long catwalk, as they could see two more Mastiffs patrolling the area.
"Say, you think that you can blast their heads apart with that rifle, and quiet as well?" Jack asked Gus, who merely smirked in response.
"Don't underestimate the firepower and versatility of the weapons that our group has." Gus stated, before he then pulled out his sniper rifle again, before attaching some sort of barrel-like attachment. "You take the far one, I'll take the near one."
"Got it." Jack responded back, before he then slowly moved along the catwalk, making sure that this footsteps doesn't alert the cyborgs below, while Gus raised his sniper rifle, and took a deep breath, aiming for the centre of the nearer Mastiff.
Almost in synchro, Jack jumped off the catwalk, and drove his blade right through the far-placed cyborg, while Gus fired his shot, as it was heavily muted, yet the shot gibbed his target's head completely, as they were both dead before they realised who attacked them.
Gus then leapt down on the ground, before giving a gentle nod to Jack, before they made their way through the sewers, before finding a large open valve to jump through, taking them to a lower level in the sewers. At that time, the group were notified by the Wolves again.
"Raiden, Alex. There is a boy in these sewers, unarmed and marked." Red Wolf informed them. "He is a level lower from where you are both currently positioned at."
"A boy lost in these sewers…? This isn't good, if the Desperado cyborgs find him…" Gus remarked with concern.
"Don't worry, we'll get to him before they can get their job done." Jack assured Gus, before he then cut through one of the rusted sewer gates, allowing them to take a shortcut around the sewers.
It didn't take long to reach the next valve, before they heard the frightful cries of a male boy, which confirmed Gus's worries, as Jack was already increasing the pace, before he then jumped through the valve, and throwing several daggers that pierced the Dwarf Gekkos, that was near the distressed Mexican boy, who was only dressed in beige pants and a white shirt.
Jack then raised his head, as he was face to face with a whole pack of black mechanical robots that looked like mechanised raptors, with a electromagnetic cannon inside its head.
"A whole pack of Raptors, eh…?" Jack commented, before he then readied his blade. "Ain't going to be enough to stop me!"
The boy then stood up, before he then looked at Raiden with awe. "A ninja? Cowabunga!" The boy remarked with awe and surprise, before excitedly dancing about. "Go, ninja, go ninja go-"
"Raiden, a step back please." Gus responded back, before he then set something onto the ground, as it was some sort of explosive spider drone, that paced along the side of the pipe, skittering towards the pack of Raptors.
Jack noticed the warning, as the boy was confused at the fact that there was someone else here, before Jack then glared back at him. "Huye!" He barked at him with the native language, as the boy immediately ran away, before the spider drone dropped in front of the Raptor pack. It then let out a shrill beeping sound, before exploding, and destroying the frontmost Raptors, and damaging greatly any of them within the explosion's range, and shaking the sewers a little.
"Woah, the hell are packed in those things…!?" Jack exclaimed, before Gus then jumped down, and pulled out the assualt rifle, and fired a few shots that disabled several more of the Raptors.
"Your chance is here, get them all." Gus responded back.
"With pleasure!" Jack grinned, before he then rushed up to the disabled Raptors, before cutting them all to pieces with bursts of Zandaitsu, as the robots were sliced to pieces quite quickly.
After all of the Raptors were confirmed destroyed, Gus approached the boy, who was hiding behind one of the walls. "¿Estás bien? ¿Herir?" He asked, using the simple phrase. (Are you okay? Hurt?)
"Wah yuh say?" The boy asked back with a confused tone, as his voice was accented quite hard, before he then leapt out into the sewers. "Mi a Guyanese. From Guyana."
"I see. Call me Alex, and my associate Raiden." Gus introduced himself politely.
"Mi name George. Like 'Georgetown'." The boy introduced himself, before Gus then noticed something on the back of his neck.
"Alright, George, could you turn around…?" Gus requested gently, who did so, as Gus could see the glowing white marks on the nape of his neck, as they were marking for injection sites. "Oh."
"Wuh? Something da matter?" George asked back.
"What is something like you doing here?" Jack questioned George.
"Mi? Wuh da rass ayu fuh do here?" George responded back, with slang. "Yuh lose da map a hideout, ninja man and gadget boy?"
"No, we're looking for… bad guys." Gus answered back, phrasing the statement in a way that George could easily accept.
"Ah, dem skunt a research lab." George growled.
"You know about it?" Jack asked, before George glared at them.
"Hey… Yuh all na wan of dem skunt, nah?" George asked back accusingly, before then looking at the scattered wrecks of the Raptors. "Nah… I guess yuh both all right. If ninja man is a cyborg, yuh know who dey is?"
"Yep. Not the kind of people you want to be with." Jack responded back, as he sheathed his blade, since he believed that it was safe enough to do so, since the blade might be worrying George a little. "What happened to you?"
"Mi bin live on da street, rake and scrape fuh a bobb, nah? Den dis kutnee dress like da mafia say, 'Hey boi, yuh wan a job?'" George recounted, pacing around the ground. "Wuh da worst gon happen, nah? But da mudda skunt done put mi on a rass boat! Dey pack us all a bigable dirty containah. Next ting we know, we here. At dat jumby lab."
"All kids like you?" Gus asked, with a dread-filled expression, as if expecting that he won't like the answer.
"Yeah, alotta boi. But den mi bin overhear wuh dem skunt wan a do." George nodded back, before he then turned away, and his tone turned fearful. "Snuff us out… an gut all dey organ."
"Jesus…" Gus muttered with a horrified tone.
"So you ran." Jack responded back instead of Gus, who was shocked silent.
"Uh-huh. Ise shame mi notta bad-ass robot -ninja-mon or bad-ass gadget-boy same's you." George answered back, as he mocked swinging through the air. "Mi bin strongest cyborg ever. Walack all dem Phantoms and Black Clothes dat eyepass mi."
"Careful there, that doesn't sound like what someone like you should be like." Gus warned George with a stern glare.
"Just playin', nah? Mi done plenty bad ting, but mi nah kill no man. Nah, nevah." George responded back with a slightly cowered tone.
"Good." Jack answered back.
"Mi try to warn dem boi, I say,..." George continued. ''Ayodese brain will get cut out!', 'Run yuh rass out a dey!'. But dem boi wi mi no understand. Dey like Spanish or some'ting. So mi the only wan fuh escape. Den dey machine come afta mi an…"
"And the rest is history." Gus stated. "George, I need you to tell me how you managed to escape out here. Please, we need to come your way to save those 'boi', okay?"
George then decided to explain his escape from the lab from start to finish, as Jack and Gus were about to catch the fact that he escaped through the lab's drainage channel, even through the excessive amounts of slang the foreign boy was throwing. After that, Gus then gestured for George to find a way out of the sewers, as the boy left them be.
"Looks like we have our way in." Gus stated, before the two of them made their way through the sewers, busting open a few doors, and sneaking through enemy patrols, as they killed whoever was necessary to ensure they remained undetected.
As they moved along, Jack decided to check and see if the lab just so happened to be in the same place as last time. To his surprise, it was.
"Huh, well that was easy." Jack simply uttered, noticing Red Wolf and Black Wolf coming up to him and Gus.
"Scout complete, initiating stealth/combat mode." Red Wolf said, as the HF Blade morphed on to her tail.
"We shall provide aid to you both going through the lab." Black Wolf stated, the HF Blade morphing on to his tail as well.
The group then slowly proceeded through the lab, as they managed to cut through the groups of cyborgs in each sections, as the Wolves took to their new weapons like fish in water, as their blades blended through the enemy with far-greater force than their chainsaw-blades would have. It didn't take them long to find the path forward, which was sealed behind doors.
"Hey, Alex. You think that you're ready to go past here? Past here is something that might make you retch. I ain't kidding, it's some messed-up shit." Jack warned Gus.
"I can handle it. I've been through a fair bit of psychological trauma before all this." Gus responded back.
"Whatever you say." Jack responded back, before he then activated the door, as it showed a dark room inside of it. The group then stepped inside, before several small lights turned on at once, as shelves upon shelves of tubes with brains that were encased in mechanical casing, as there was what seemed to be VR visors over the eyes of the living brains,
This left Gus so horrified, that his expression paled the first moment he saw the terrifying revelation, before the eyes of the brains turned to him, amplifying the cold fear coursing through his veins, as he took deep shuddering breaths to calm himself down.
"I am detecting a sudden drop in body temperature, as well as the contraction of your pupils and your irregular breathing, Alex." Red Wolf remarked. "It is conclusive that you are in a combination of great denial and fear."
After a while, Gus calmed himself down, before then raising his head.
"God… I seen terrible things, but that was more of the visceral and physical side of things." Gus answered back with a slight shudder in his voice. "But this… This shocks me on the empathetic side, and the moral side of me as well."
"Get used to it. They're training kids to become Desperado's new cyborg army." Jack answered back. "Now does everything that George said make sense?"
"Y-Yes… Damn it all…" Gus answered back, as there was a sense of animosity in his voice. "To go this far… This is beyond good and evil… This is pure malice… I can't stand for this… I WON'T stand for this."
"Find him!" A distant male cyborg voice crie, as it caught the group's attention. Gus then silently pulled out a shotgun, before loading it.
"...Let's go." Gus intoned, as there was a cold expression on his face.
Jack and the group followed Gus, as they exited the room, before they found that there were cyborgs laying in wait for them.
"I got hi-" One of the cyborgs stated, before Gus swiped the shotgun towards his direction, pulling the trigger, as the burst tore the cyborg to pieces.
Gus then rapidly fired and loaded shells in his weapon, while Jack and the Wolves fell right upon the other cyborgs, tearing them to pieces with their HF blades.
When it was all done, Gus continued along, as Jack noticed that Gus didn't look anywhere near as calm and careful as he was, as his expression exposed the cold hate within him. They soon made their way through more of the labs.
"Just so you know, there are still some kids to save." Jack reminded Gus, as the brown-haired operative turned to him slowly.
"...I know. There will be no more in my watch." Gus responded back dryly, before turning back and continuing along the path.
They soon made their way through a narrow corridor, as Erika notified the group.
"You might want to hear this. I've been tracking George myself, and he's not around where you told him to go." Erika told the group. "I don't think that someone with such drive would get lost. If you see him captured, that's not a big surprise considering that there are multiple waves of cyborgs looking for him. Better hurry, before he's really killed as he feared."
"Thank you for the update. We're moving." Gus stonily answered back, before hanging up the comms call, with a sour expression on his face.
"Don't worry, they're not stupid enough to kill him yet. He's a bargaining chip for us." Jack told Gus. "Just a heads-up, you might want to have something hidden for when you need to make a split-second shot."
"Warning acknowledged." Gus answered back, before he then slid a hand-gun behind his back, enough to ensure that no-one could notice it, even if they could see his back.
They soon entered a large warehouse, as they encountered a tank-like machine, which had an armoured front, several different weapons integrated to its sides and top, including a gatling turret, a missile pod, and a long tank cannon. It then launched its missiles at the group, as they dodged out of the way.
"A GRAD here… Heh. And still there's only one." Jack remarked back.
"Analysing enemy attack patterns…" Black Wolf intoned, before it then stood still for a moment, its eyes flickering for a moment. "Analysis complete. Enemy lacks any proper offence against several separate fast-moving targets. Missiles have too little response times and turn speed to react to sharp banking turns. Cannon and gatling are simple to dodge."
"Let us handle this unit, Raiden, Alex. Engage in combat in synchro with me, Black Wolf." Red Wolf told the two of them, as the Wolves leaned back.
"Acknowledged." Black Wolf responded back, before they then rushed towards the GRAD, as it tried to take down the two of them, although its shots missed by a wide margin at their speed, as their blade tore through a large part of the tank's armour, forcing it to retreat back, as Gus and Jack followed after it.
Soon, the GRAD shifted into its bipedal form, as the frontal armour plating separated to reveal a mechanical head behind it. It tried to use its boosters and arm-like rotors connecting the armour plating to strike the Wolves out, although their speed was far superior to it, dodging all of its attacks with ease.
"Our attacks should be enough to weaken its frontal armour enough for your weapon to destroy it, Raiden." Black Wolf informed Jack. "We will proceed with evasive maneuvers until you are poised to strike."
"Thanks a lot. That'll make this a lot easier, without having to waste time to stay close and personal with it." Jack thanked the Wolves, before he then swirled through the air, getting in front of the GRAD mid-attack, as he activated Zandaitsu to destroy its plating, enough to daze it.
Gus then rushed up to the dazed machine, before he then supercharged the shot-gun, as the entire front of the weapon pulsed an angry-red, before he then fired a large spray of molten-red projectiles, that burned away the front half of the mecha, destroying it to the point that it smoked from critical damage dealt to it. Jack whistled slightly from the overpowering shot, as Gus ejected the clip on it, which was burning hot from the heat generated from the shot itself, and placing another clip inside of it.
"Damn, that's one blast that I wouldn't want to be in the face of." Jack commented with a light tone, although Gus didn't care about the comment much. "Jeez, you must really be scheming hard about the demise of those responsible for this, right?"
"I won't give them the chance." Gus answered back with a low tone.
"Well, at least let me guide you through the corridors. No time to waste after all." Jack answered back, before the group continued their way through the lab.
When they reached where Raiden had said that the captive children were at, he then turned to Black Wolf and Red Wolf.
"Look around and make sure that our exit from this place is secure." Jack ordered them.
"Order acknowledged." Red Wolf intoned back, before the two Wolves made their way through another part of the corridors, intending to clear enemy reinforcement heading the group's way.
The two of them then passed through the doors, before they found themselves on the other side of a testing chamber, where there were the remaining children, as Gus rushed over and pressed his hand on the glass.
"What… What the hell is this? Why did they herd the children here…?" Gus asked Jack with slight confusion.
"Ain't it simple? What do you think happens to merchandise that you can't sell off in time, before they expire their best-before date?" Jack asked as a rhetorical.
"You mean…" Gus answered back, before he then heard the sound of the air filters in the testing chamber opening. "No…!"
Soon, some kind of gas being exuded into the room, turning it into some sort of gas chamber. Gus frantically flipped his weapon over, as he smashed the glass several times with the stock of his shotgun, only managing to crack through several layers out of the many that were separating the children from them. He then growled when his efforts were to little effect.
"Damn it all… Raiden, do you know-" Gus was about to ask, turning to Raiden
"Hey, stop right there!" They both heard a make voice declare, as they turned around to find that there was a male Desperado scientist, who was holding George captive, slowly walking over with a cocky grin on his face, while the Guyanese child struggled in the grip of his captor.
"George!" Gus exclaimed, before he then raised his shotgun to shoot.
"Raiden... Alex…" George answered back with fear.
"You've heard of chloroform?" The scientist asked them both. "A potent anesthetic in smaller doses. But breathe too much of it…"
"...And it becomes a lethal biological agent. You filled that room with it, turning into a gas chamber for the children inside." Gus snarled, as the children inside were indeed falling unconscious one by one, and one of them was banging against the glass. "You despicable bastard… Jack, break that glass open, we're not going to-"
"Break that glass, and I'll blow his brains out!" The scientist threatened, pressing the barrel against the side of George's head firmly.
"Not if I shoot you down first!" Gus shouted back, as he eased his finger on the trigger. "You won't get away with this atrocity! I won't allow it!"
"Surrender! Or decide: The needs of the many, or the needs of the few?" The scientist taunted them.
"You'll blow his brains out when the job's done away." Gus retorted back, as his finger eased on the trigger more. "I'll give you one chance: Drop him, or I'll blow your head off with a single shot."
"Hah! Try and do it!" The scientist mocked, before lifting George up, until he was covering his head and torso with the boy. "I know that's a shotgun in your hand. Go ahead, shoot. Shoot and the boy dies anyway."
Gus hesitated slightly, before George turned to Gus. "Alex, don't worry about me, nah…!" George struggled to say. "I'm ready. Mi life no so precious thing. But if mi can take dis skunt to hell wi mi…"
"¡Cállate!" The scientist barked, jamming the barrel of the gun against George's head.
Gus didn't move at all, as Jack eyed Gus, before then eying the scientist and George. After a while, Gus lowered his gun.
"You're right. I can't shoot like this." Gus shook his head, as Jack looked betrayed, while the scientist looked triumphant, as he let his weapon go.
However, Jack was aware that Gus wasn't planning to back down, as he activated Zandaitsu to slow down time, as he saw the scientist lower George down, as if expecting his complete victory over Gus with that under-handed tactic. However, while the shotgun fell towards the ground, Gus snapped a hand towards the pistol at a speed that looked normal even in his vision, before then aiming and firing it just as quickly, as the scientist toppled backwards with his crazed expression frozen on his face, as George was able to wrest himself free.
When Jack ceased his focusing, and time reverted to normal, the scientist was dead on the ground, and George backed away, while Gus slowly walked to the dead scientist.
"...But I don't need my shotgun to do the job." Gus darkly remarked, before looking down at the dead scientist's expression with utter disgust and venom. "Truly, you are the blackest of scum, to approve of such inhumane experiments, enact filicide without a single regret, and still have that twisted expression of sadistic joy on your face."
Jack took the moment to break the glass open, as the chloroform gas was dissipated into the room. He also destroyed the air filters pumping the gas in, with well-placed knives, as what remained of the conscious children looked towards Jack.
Gus then pulled out something, a small device, which latched itself on the chest of the corpse, before it then activated, consuming the body of the scientist in a massive burst of flames, which startled George. When the flames were gone, there was no trace of the scientist.
"Whoa, mon, you roast da skunk hard!" George remarked with awe at what he saw.
"It was fortunate that he died quickly from that head-shot." Gus continued with vitrol in his voice. "If it were anyone else on my team, or if I had better circumstances… he would have a more painful death. He doesn't deserve a proper burial. There will be nothing left of him. The ultimate insult to a heartless bastard like him."
George nodded fearfully, seeing what Gus was capable when he was truly pushed to his limits of mercy and patience.
"Damn… That's real dark of you." Jack answered back. "But that goes to show that there is a limit to every person. And I think that this little incident was it for you."
Gus didn't respond back, before the Wolves returned, coated in blood, which startled George, as he pedalled away from them.
"Worry not, George. We are not here to harm you." Black Wolf stated, before turning to Gus. "I sense that your expression bears great hate. Context is required to understand the sudden emotional change in you."
"It doesn't matter." Gus answered back emotionlessly, before turning to Jack. "Are all of the children alive and accounted for?"
"Yep, can be sure of that." Jack nodded back, as all of the children were either conscious or still breathing, from what he checked. "Come on, kids. Come with us, we'll take you out of this bad place."
The children were left with no-one else to trust, as the group led them out of the facility, leaving behind a desolated lab, free of Desperado influence.
