To say Ontari was miserable by the time she finished the ten laps would have been a massive understatement.
As she finally reached the pier and dragged herself out, she scowled at the row of chairs where her family were sitting, water dripping from her hair as she staggered towards them.
Raven hurried to meet her in the middle, slinging a towel around her and rubbing at her shoulders furiously in an attempt to warm her up.
Chest heaving with the exertion, Ontari collapsed into the chair Raven had just vacated, closing her eyes as the rest of the group watched.
Leaning in close, everyone could hear if not see the grin as Octavia prodded her mockingly, "Have fun?"
"I will kill you." Was the only answer offered, in an even tone as Ontari gradually mastered her breathing, eyes still shut.
Rolling her eyes, Clarke pushed up from her chair, taking Lexa's hand to pull her along with, "Well now that that's over, it's probably time for us to head home. In case you people haven't noticed it's already dark. And us all sitting here at this time of night is just inviting trouble."
Smiling, Lexa squeezed Clarke's hand gently, "Clarke's right, we'll walk back now, I'll tell the door guard to expect you all within the next hour. Don't take any chances. Octavia, you and Lincoln are coming back with us now, I'm not leaving you outside the city at night unless I can keep an eye on you myself, you're a little too good at getting yourself into trouble."
Sighing, Octavia nodded, clambering out of Lincoln's lap and nodding to Ontari and Raven, who was still trying to warm up her exhausted girlfriend, "Echo, stay with them ok? Ontari clearly isn't ready to walk back yet, and there's safety in numbers."
"Understood." Echo nodded back quickly, "We'll head back as she's ready."
"Good." Lexa smiled, holding her arm out for Clarke to take, "We'll see you all in the morning then."
The four of them quickly disappeared up the path towards the city walls, Octavia quickly persuading Lincoln to just carry her.
As soon as they were out of earshot, Ontari cracked open an eyelid, before groaning, "I can never do that again. I hurt everywhere."
Raven laughed outright, ignoring the immediate hurt look levelled at her, "If you would just practice more, then Lexa wouldn't be able to hold swimming over you."
"No, I don't like it, it's not something I enjoy doing." Ontari bit back, practically sulkily, as Raven struggled to contain another laugh.
"Ok you baby, are you ready to head home now, because I'm cold, which means you must be freezing."
"I'm too tired to walk." Ontari complained, closing her eyes again as she leaned back in the chair.
Taking a deep breath, Raven looked over at Echo, mouthing softly, Help me.
Smirking, Echo walked to the other side of the chair, before wrapping her uninjured arm around Ontari's waist to pull her physically up onto her feet.
Squirming, Ontari made a half-hearted effort to push free of her grip, "You can't do this to me, I order you to let me go, right now!"
"The Commander wants you home in one piece, as soon as possible, so I don't think I have to listen to you right now." Echo told her, with a light chuckle, as Raven matched her position on the other side.
Between the two of them, they half forced Ontari to walk, and half dragged her up the path and away from the pier.
As the city wall came into sight, she pushed them away, taking a minute to centre herself before walking on her own.
"There's no way I could ever ascend if people saw you two dragging me around like a child." She mumbled in explanation as they continued on, giving a nod to the guards at the side gate as they passed through.
"Next time, just don't try to lie to Lexa." Raven remarked conversationally.
"I did that for you." Ontari argued.
Smiling fondly, Raven nodded, "And I love that you were willing to do that for me, but I think we both know that Lexa was right to make a big deal out of it."
With a small sigh, Ontari dipped her chin, looping her arm through Raven's as they passed through the outer town, Echo keeping a respectful position a few feet behind them to give them the privacy to talk, "I know, I don't know what I was thinking, it just sort of happened."
"Well it's over now, and next time I break something, I'll just tell Lexa myself before she finds out from somebody else." Raven told her resolutely.
Laughing, Ontari just shook her head, "No you won't, you'll try and cover it up, because if Lexa knew half the things you'd broken, you'd never be allowed to play with the old-world artefacts ever again."
"I'm really not that bad." Raven muttered half-heartedly, "And a lot of them are designed to be destructive all on their own."
Smiling, Ontari just pressed a kiss to the side of her head as they reached the tower. "I love you, but that's a terrible defence and you know it. You're just accident prone."
Nodding goodnight to Echo, who paused to have a conversation with the guard on duty at the door of the tower, the two of them headed up, clambering into the elevator gratefully, before stumbling to bed without another word.
