Chapter 27: Finally
The class resumed with the remaining teachers, in every afternoon subject, getting really angry with the students because everyone seemed not paying attention at all. Well, what do you expect, right? They were literally not because of being agitated at the thoughts of the two person who didn't manage to finished what they supposed to finish. Despite having a feeling like everyone is busy monitoring every actions of those two, Chitoge and Raku on the other hand were busy sensing each other's presence. Its like they are both waiting for a chance. Though it is true that both of them is waiting, their thoughts is not same at all. While the one is impatiently waiting for a chance to resume what was left earlier, the other party is busy packing things silently and planning of running, yes running again, as fast as can before anyone leaves the room. Thus, as soon as the teacher said the words "class dismissed" that person who's been planning of running, which is Chitoge, leaved everyone shocked as she hurriedly stand up from her seat, went off to the door and slammed opened it, then run before even the teacher take a step from the table.
But as Raku already expected it, he also stand from his seat and run after her. The scene stunned everyone for a moment but got recovered when they heard Raku shout loud and clear, that it echoed through out the whole floor.
"KIRISAKI CHITOGE STOP!" That's what Raku shouted at the top of his lungs. Hearing that shout made everyone turn their way to the door and window to check out what was going to happen next.
Well, Chitoge did stop with that shout of Raku. It gives her goosebumps. She got a little nervous at the thought that he might look really angry right now; where he was standing. Though she may think that way, she didn't budge at all to look back and was about to step forward but got taken aback when he shouted again.
"DON'T YOU DARE TURN YOUR BACK ON ME NOW KIRISAKI CHITOGE, WE ARE NOT DONE TALKING YET," Raku paused for a couple of minutes to take a deep breath as if he was thinking of something whereas Chitoge was being coward again and thinking of continuing to run away from him, as for the moment, because before she can even do so, Raku continued, "OR ELSE I'LL SCREAM RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW THAT I LOVE YOU." He said as if he was threatening her, which he really did in the very moment. And he actually manage to do it because he knew that everyone is already aware of what was going on between them.
That shout made every girls refrained themselves from screaming. It's every girls dream after all; to have a guy who can proudly shout that he loves his woman. They felt envious to Chitoge because one of that guy is standing in front of them and bravely conveying his feelings. And yet, it disappoint them to see that Chitoge wasn't reciprocating what she really wanted to say at all. When someone was about to say what's on everyone's mind, a loud respond from her echoed back to where Raku was standing.
"YOU ALREADY DID, YOU STUPID BEANSPROUT." Chitoge shouted and face him with her scarlet face and her hand gripping the things she's been holding trying to conceal her trembling. Yes, she is trembling, but not because she is scared or what, its actually because she is feeling embarrassed and at the same way felt really happy to feel how sincere he is to her.
The whole floor became silent for a couple of minutes, as if everyone was waiting for her to continue speaking, with the exception of one person who didn't manage to compose her irritation anymore. And thus it result for another argument.
"Aaaaah~" Marika Tachiba lazily hummed at the same time carefully pushing everyone around her to make her way in front. Marika has been there the whole time. She's been obrserving the situation, and this situation is really getting on her nerves now. As she continued walking with her arms cross, she raised an eyebrow to Chitoge who is one room away from her. She gave her a look from foot to head and smirked with her oh-so-pathetic-look for her.
Chitoge got alarmed with her joining the scene because she might do something indecent in front of everyone. And before she can even react with the attitude she showed to her, she already did what she thought she would do shamelessly. The moment Marika stop beside Raku, she unhesitantly cling herself onto him with her face looking so luring. She put her arms around his neck as if ready to kiss him. Marika closed her eyes waiting for something to happen in a way that it made the atmosphere felt so intense with everyone eyeing Raku to see what he would do because of knowing how agressive Marika can be. In order not to ruin Raku's plan to get Chitoge's answer, he struggled on her cling to him carefully but she won't budge at all. Raku was about to get angry and argue but he noticed the change of Marika's facial expression from luring to irritation. Mari is going to get out from her own shell. Raku thought, thinking of the other side of Marika.
"T-Tachibana?" Raku uttered when Marika uncling herself from him and turn to look where Chitoge is. He is confuse of what's on Marika's mind, but he wish that its something that would help him. And he won't be feel ashamed to admit that he needs everyone's help now.
"Seriously, you're getting on my nerves now. You're making me feel so annoyed." Marika stated as she face Chitoge with a look like she is restraining herself from shouting. Everyone felt the annoyance in Marika's voice. With Chitoge sensing Marika is getting serious, she couldn't help but to look away from her stare because she knew where this is going.
She's been holding back her own thoughts from the beginning -- from the moment Raku admit to them that he likes Kirisaki Chitoge. Marika doesn't really want to get involved anymore in their messy situation now because she thought that everything is already under control after Onodera gave up her own feelings for her sake. But Chitoge leave her no choice. She has no choice but to joined their messy situation or it won't never end and will only hurt everyone. She's losing her temper she's been holding.
She felt really annoyed because Chitoge didn't do anything at all but to keep on running from everything; because she's been making it hard for Raku; because she is too much of a hard headed gorilla. But the truth is, she felt that way because she is feeling hurt and she can't stay silent anymore about it. May be, just may be, she needs to speak up her mind to make sense to Chitoge. If only she can slap her, for the second time to reality, she would do it, but she realize it won't work anymore because Onodera already did it and it doesn't change anything. That stupid-stubborn gorilla with long blond hair. I don't really like her that much.
"How long do you plan on running away from reality? Do you really want Raku-sama to chase after you longer than this?" Marika frankly asked the moment their eyes met. She ended it with "tched" as if she can't hide her annoyance anymore.
Everyone got silent on her question and made them wonder if Chitoge will end up doing what Marika just said. They didn't know why, but when they heard her asked those questions, they felt a hint of pain in her voice. Realizing she is feeling hurt made them also realize that the person standing in front them is not just the usual Marika they knew. She is not just the Marika who would throw herself to Raku whenever she felt like and would always try to seduce him. This time it's Marika who loves him unconditionally. Before everything happened, they all thought Marika was just a girl who wanted to play with Raku; that she is not serious about her confession of love and just love to seduce him; but seeing her acting like she is ready to give up doing those things she's been doing to Raku, they already knew where this is going to end. And Raku is one of them that realized it. It made him feel guilty to think that everyone around him is giving up their own happiness for him -- what a lucky guy to have them, really -- realizing he can't do anything about it but to apologize, he stand next to Marika and patted her head and made her feel he is really thankful for her helping him and she respond with a sincere smile. Yeah she's giving up, but not because she doesn't want to fight for it, but because she knew that she doesn't have a chance to get into him anymore. She decided to give up in spite of the fact that she will hurt her ego.
"I-I don't have that kind of plan." Chitoge almost whispered to herself though she realized witn her own that she has already been doing it. And it hurts her to feel that she's making someone feeling hurt again because of her. She know she's hurting her, after all she know Marika as well as she know Onodera, so she knew how she really feel for Raku.
Not hearing what Chitoge said, Marika resumed what she wanted to say, "Is this what you want - to hurt everyone around you and Raku-sama? With what you are doing right now, you're just showing how selfish you can be, as if you wanted everyone who loves him to say it in front of you that we are giving up our feelings. Do you really need to confirm that first before accepting him?"
Hearing those questions from Marika made Chitoge's mind block. It hurts her that part of her agreed to what Marika just said. She can't deny to herself that she wanted to confirm their feelings - like how they confirmed how she gave up her feelings. She wanted to be even. She wanted them to feel how she felt when she did those things for the sake of the happiness of the person they love. But Chitoge knew that she didn't have to do those things because she cherished them, and yet here she is doing it without realizing it.
"Is one person not enough for you? For God's sake Kirisaki, Raku-sama choose you among us. He rejected everyone who loves him just for a girl like you... a girl who keep on running from him." Tachibana continued feeling hurt. She was already crying her heart out. Telling her she got rejected and accepting it hurt her deeply.
"I'm so sorry." Chitoge whispered apologizing. She can't seem to build up her confident to answer her because she know that she is the one at fault. Damn it! How am I suppose to do this in front of everyone? How do they expect me to confess right here with everyone watching us? It's embarassing for pete's sake. Chitoge thought clenching her fist. If only they knew how badly she wanted to give him her answer, Marika might not have to do this. Chitoge might lessen her pain.
"You know what Kirisaki, if you don't want him, just say it and I'll take him away from you wholeheartedly." Marika said trying to annoy Chitoge as well. With her playful attitude, she begun to cling herself again to Raku and acted her usual self that she knows would get Chitoge's attention. Knowing Chitoge, Marika already expected that she would really feel angry once Raku react on her action. And so, with Marika being naughty, she whispered to Raku to go with the flow.
And the act started. With Marika holding Raku too close, Raku naturally turned red while Marika continued on flirting him. Raku's face is burning in red like a flames because he is feeling so embarassed since everyone's eye is on them, and well, Marika is somewhat enjoying the moment thinking that this will be her last time doing this to the person she's been cherishing since she was a kid.
"Raku-sama, this will be the last time I can cling like this to you, I will miss this." Marika suddenly get serious in front of Raku while her back is facing Chitoge. Raku felt the sadness in her voice but because she gave him a sincere and happy smile, he smile back at her and mouthed sorry and thank you.
Then the naughty Marika continued her antics and because Marika knew she never failed to annoyed Chitoge with it, Raku got what he doesn't deserved. Well, Chitoge is Chitoge after all, once she felt furious with Marika flirting Raku, she would always hit him like he is the one at fault. Of course everyone got shocked when a flying shoes suddenly hit Raku's face, with the fact that Raku is taller than Marika, it obviously hit him like it was really what Chitoge wanted. Raku shout in pain while touching his face where Chitoge hit him. Well, Raku didn't manage to dodge it because he was busy looking at Marika pointing her lips to him. Meanwhile, Marika turn to face Chitoge again, with a smirk on her face like she is mocking her, thus, it made Chitoge refrained her anger.
"Poor Ichijou-kun." Onodera said like she is worried and wanted to help him but she didn't budge at all to step from where she is standing. Not because she didn't want to help him, but because she actually felt like she's enjoying what she's witnessing. Weird, but yes, she's enjoying it because she knows that this time, Marika will make her admit what she failed to do so.
Marika smirked once again and cross her arms then said, "Why do I feel like you are getting furious about it? Do you have the right to get angry? Is there anything that you should be angry?"
Still massaging his face, Raku look at Chitoge's direction and saw a hint of annoyance in her face. Yes, there's no reason for him to smile with her looking that way, but somehow, Raku can't help himself thinking that Chitoge is slowly showing what she really felt this time; not the feeling that she likes him but at least she's showing something that makes his hopes to get higher than he expected.
"And who said that I'm being angry?" Chitoge responded to Marika. Although she tried her best to hide her annoyance in her tone, which she did very well, her facial expression failed her.
"Oh! But I can really see it on your face that you're getting angry. Or is it you're being jealous?" This time round, Marika is enjoying herself teasing Chitoge and their friends can't even react on Marika's doing. Even Tsugumi can't defend her Ojou because she also wanted to stop her stubborness and she have no choice but to let Marika do the rest.
Hearing those accusation made Chitoge's face scarlet and with a tone of arrogance, she said, "Me? Jealous? Why should I? And why would I be angry? Is there a reason?"
"Of course there is, because after all your stubborness, your face already exposed how you truly feel. So you better stop acting anymore." Marika said with a tone like she getting angry once again; at the same time she already felt so tired of their situation where they keep on repeating the arguments they had for the nth time. But the feeling building up with her suddenly all fade when she heard something from Chitoge.
"How do you expect me to say it aloud with all these people watching." Chitoge said with a tone mixing in annoyance and embarrasement. Marika didn't know why but suddenly she burst into laughter and thought Chitoge really is amusing especially whenever she is being teased.
While Marika is busy making herself to stop from laughing, everyone is wondering what's the reason of her laughed. Well, actually, Marika is the only one who heard what Chitoge just said. And the reason why she is the only one who heard it was because when she was answering Chitoge's question earlier, she is also walking towards her and stop in front of her when she finished what she wanted to say.
Marika take a quick look and giggled knowing how Chitoge can easily get embarassed, then authoritively said, "Raku-sama go drag her somewhere else or you won't get anything, you know how her head works."
And so Raku do as he told before anyone react. He was already in front of Chitoge and grab her hand then pulled her through the hallway with everyone cheering for them.
"I know this time it will be a sure win." Tachibana remarked with a happy smile in her lips and with everyone agreeing with her.
