Herman struggled to hold the badger off him, using his legs to try and push his weight off. "This ain't nothin' personal." the badger had said when he charged him, surprising him from behind a tree. The badger had knocked him to the ground and laid a haymaker on his face and used his claws to scratch his side, which made him cry out in pain. When he had kicked the badger off, Herman had tried to make a run for it. As he ran the badger jumped on his back, knocking him down and the breath out of him. He cried for help but it came out as a primal yell. This is what it must been life for his ancestors, living in fear..."It doesn't have to be this hard, stop fighting me." the badger said gruffly. He flipped over and tried to kick the badger again, but the badger was ready and avoided it, wrapping his claws around Herman's throat. As the badger squeezed, Herman struggled feebly. He only had a little bit of time to think to get out of this...

Suddenly Herman felt the weight lift off him as he turned to see a blur go by. It was Damien, he had tackled the badger and was baring his teeth like...a wild animal. He crawled back as the two squared each other up, getting up from their tumble.

Damien uttered a deep growl, "What are you doing here?" The badger didn't answer as he backed up. "You.." the badger turned to run but Damien jumped and landed on him with quick reaction time the badger bit Damiens' leg; yelling in anger, Damien turned him over and reached his fist back and sent the badgers head back with a loud crack.

Keeping his paw on his throat, he turned to Herman, breathing hard, but speaking with calmness in his voice that unnerved Herman. "Get the police, I'll make sure he doesn't go anywhere."

Herman nodded, "I'll be right back, Damien." Brushing himself off, he hurried away.

When he was sure Herman was gone, Damien grabbed the badger by his shirt. "What are you doing here?"

The badgers head rolled but he coughed, "You have a good right hook." he spit some blood to the side. "But you have that same coldness like him..." he smiled.

Damien gasped, the shock evident on his face, his body shook not from being cold, but from fear. His anger rose, and he bared his teeth, "Where is he?"

The badger laughed, "That's all your gonna get out of me, kid, you mi-" His head snapped back as Damien punched him. He grabbed his face, only to gasp as he felt Damien's fist slam into his stomach.

Damien suddenly gained control of himself, taking a deep breath...he was slowly losing control. "C'mon, keep it together." The badger weakly tried to get himself free from Damiens grip. "I..thought he was bad...but your even worse." he said weakly.

Damiens tail flicked and his fur bushed out, the anger present. "I'm nothing...like him. Look at my face." he pulled the badger closer, who could see the scar going down his face. "You think I'm a monster?" Damien smiled coldly, losing himself in the anger, fading into the black. "I can show you a monster.." he bared his teeth, chuckling a little bit to himself as he felt the badger start to shake. "You're gonna tell me where he is..."

Alice led the two police officers, a bull and a deer, around the house towards the orchard. As her, and the two officers rounded the house, they saw Herman limping through the trees. She gasped when she saw the scrapes on her fathers side, and his face...it looked swollen. "Sir!" the bull ran up to him as he collapsed to his knees, catching him.

The deer unholstered his sidearm, "Where are the suspects?" Herman pointed up the hill, struggling to catch his breath; the deer quickly headed up the hill as the bull got on his radio for backup.

"Dad, where is Damien?" Alice asked, concern deep in her voice.

"He..." he rubbed his throat. "Damien...saved me, he was...holding the badger down."

That's when she heard yells from the top of the hill. The bull had been walking towards them when he heard the yells too, unholstering his weapon like the deer, he headed up the hill. Alice felt a pull, she had to go and see what was going on, she started to get up when she felt a paw holding hers.

She looked down to her dad, who had grabbed her paw, "Don't..." was all he could say.

"Dad...I.." she couldn't really put her feelings into words. Damien.. She could see the bull just barely getting to the top...without thinking she ran after him, leaving her dad there...Damien.

"-im down!" Damien looked at the two officers aiming their weapons at him. They yelled at him to put down the badger...but he couldn't...he knew where his dad was. He could feel heat of the day; the blood starting to cake on the fur on his paws. The badgers head lolled to the side, having fallen unconscious, from the beating that Damien had given him, small trickles of blood running down his face. Damien felt so lost, so many thoughts running through his head. Why? Why after all this time was he coming after me?

He saw Alice, run up behind the officers, her blue eyes widen at the sight of him. The bull officer noticed her and tried to push her behind him but she dodged him, walking up to Damien slowly.

"Damien...are you okay?" she asked, knowing that Damien could possibly get shot if he reacted wrong in any way. She wouldn't be able to live with herself if something happened to him.

He smiled sadly at her. "Hey, Fluff."

She saw Damiens paws were stained red...she could see the fear in his eyes, the fear wasn't of the officers, it was of something beyond here, beyond her family's farm. What was it?

He dropped the badger to the ground, dropping to his knees, and putting his hands up. It was strange...such a strong person, looking so weak.

As the officers walked towards him slowly, Alice jumped in front of him. "PLEASE! Don't arrest him! He saved my dad."

Dropping the badger, Damien put his paws above his head. The deer pushed past Alice and pulled out his cuffs, linking them onto Damiens large wrists. She started to say something when the bull put his hands on her shoulders. "Don't worry ma'am this is just procedure." Damien simply just shook his head at her, telling her to let it go.

As the hours passed the badger was taken away in an ambulance and Damien was interviewed and was released when Herman confirmed that it was Damien that saved him. The cops asked him why he beat the badger so bad but all he would say was that the badger tried to get away when no one was there and he was forced to use rougher methods, eventually the cops decided to let him go.

As everyone slept, Alice hadn't seen Damien at all other than when the cops had interviewed him.

She walked out to the orchard and walked up the hill. When she got to the top, she saw him leaning against a tree, looking at the moon. "What are you doing here Fluff?" he asked without looking at her.

He glanced back at her, she could see something in his eyes, was it anger? Fear? Or a coldness? "I was wondering if you were okay after today.." she walked up to his side.

Damiens tail flicked back and forth, she could see the faint redness of blood on his hands. He looked like a war-torn soldier..."Alice, there's something I need to tell you, it has to do with the badger and why he was here. I think...no..I know who sent him." Alice's heart skipped beat, as he held out a picture to her.

Herman stretched out his arm as he spoke to his wife in the bedroom. "Honey, that badger said that someone sent him, and I'm convinced it wasn't for us. Whoever it was, they wanted Damien hurt, or even worse than that."

She shook head, not believing "But who would want to hurt such a kind young man?"

Herman looked out the window, in the direction of Zootopia. "I don't know but whoever they are, they are determined to get him even this far from the city."

He was furious when he saw on the news that the badger had been caught and hospitalized. 'Why did I even send him in the first place?' He began gathering some clothes into a bag, he had to keep moving. The badger could turn on him and give him up once he either woke up or when the cops gave him a plea deal. He stopped when he climbed into a car, rubbing his temples. Damien had to know now, he smiled as he put the car into gear. "Don't worry son...I'll see you soon."
