Chapter 1: All but Remnants
A screech sounded in Grievous' audio sensors. He lurched forward again in the ship as an explosion shook it. The light of blaster fire rushed past his peripherals as his ship swiveled again to dodge an incoming proton torpedo from an ARC-170. These Republic dogs were persistent he gave them that.
He pulled the yoke upwards letting ships fly pass him effortlessly. The clone starfighters halted in their path. These must be some rookies for they left him enough time to lock-on their fighters. He pressed the buttons on the yoke and opened fire on the enemy. The starfighters blew up in a glorious orange light accenting the otherwise empty sky.
The only reason he could escape was from an unfortunate Clone Trooper interrupting his and Kenobi's duel.
"I don't have time for this Kenobi." Grievous said deflecting another strike from the Jedi. "I have more urgent matters to attend to."
"Running so soon, General? We were just starting to have fun." Grievous slashed at Kenobi with his free hand. His lightsaber clashed against the unrelenting cyborg's weight.
"Don't get me wrong Kenobi. I would love to stain the floor red with your blood. But each second here is one more opportunity wasted." The general growled under his mask pushing Kenobi further into the ground. Kenobi's leg buckled under the weight. In effort he grunted and concentrated on the Force. He breathed in and pushed Grievous off. His lightsabers burned into the steel leaving a trail of molten mass in its wake. He stood back up keeping the lightsaber pointed at Kenobi.
"Do tell. What has gotten the Grand General so spooked?" Kenobi smiled taking his usual Form III: Soresu stance.
"You Jedi, always assured that every enemy is outside their beautiful Republic. Never do they look deeper." Grievous scoffed "Your Republic is compromised General. A Sith Lord has buried his fangs into your council. This war is at its end and I am not one to see it. His name is Darth Sidious and the Jedi are too late to stop him. One of your own has betrayed you and on his way to Mustafar to deal with the Separatist Council."
"Why are you telling me this?" Kenobi quirked an eyebrow, visible confusion on his face.
"I'm not trying to save you Kenobi. Only I will have the pleasure of killing you, no one else."
"I must be really lucky to have garnered the attention of the great General Grievous."
"Don't insult me Kenobi." Grievous seethed taking stance again. Obi-Wan charged locking blades with Grievous; the battle continuing.
The Clone Troopers around battled on keeping the droids off their general while he dealt with Grievous. They fell back behind the crates in the hangar avoiding the incoming blaster fire.
Captain Cy directed the counterattack on the hangar with his platoon. He and his clones rolled poppers from the side of the crates successfully shutting off the incoming clankers. They pushed forward blasting any and all clankers in sight.
He was leading an unruly batch this time. They were all eager on ending the war here and now for the Republic. He chuckled under his helmet as he saw one of his troopers grab the arm of a B-1 and use it to rip off the blaster cannon directly off a B-2 distracted by the clones in front. That was Cameo, he always liked getting up and personal with droids and he always had to come and save his butt.
"Don't get too ahead of yourself Cameo." Cy came from the side gaining Cameo's attention. "If you keep this up there won't be any left for the rest of us." Cy chuckled under his helmet as he blasted another Droid with his heavy DC-15A blaster rifle.
"Don't worry Captain. I'll leave ya the scraps to clean up." Rowdy laughter was heard among the troops as they continued to push further in. To think Trooper's would make jokes during a battle. It was all to keep morale up and keep them concentrated on the battle. Because when you're dealing with hordes among hordes of lifeless droids on the battlefield who wouldn't get unnerved?
"Forward men, we have to make way to the general." Cy signaled forward and the rest of the platoon fallowed. Casualties were at a minimum. The number of droids in the hangar were lower than the usual amount. Something was wrong. Before Cy could think further a crash stopped him in his path. He couldn't see anything in the smoke as tall figure emerged from the dent. He couldn't react in time for before he knew it, he was being thrown across the room. He felt like he needed to heave. He could feel the air leaving his lungs as he saw him nearing the ground. He closed his eyes and hoped it wouldn't be a painful landing.
His body stopped mid-air his arms flailing about as he tried to get balance. "Don't worry Captain I got you." Obi-Wan held out his arms concentrating on the force to gently place the soldier. Cy landed on his feet as he apologized to Kenobi. The sounds of and engine turning on caught the attention of combatants as Grievous on his wheel bike exited out the hangar. Cy cursed under his helmet clenching his fist. Kenobi assured him and told him to continue the battle as he called Boga to try and pursue the fleeing general.
Cameo came from the side and placed an arm on his brother's shoulder. "Oh, you missed it Captain! Grievous took a trooper and threw him across the hangar. For a moment I thought he was Fly-Guy. Oh, wait that was you!" Cameo laughed to himself as he held to his Captain's shoulders for support. "Oh, don't worry captain. We'll surely get him. There's no way he could escape with a Jedi and the blockade above Utapau." Cameo assured Cy as he wiped a tear from his eye. "C'mon we need our Captain to lead us through these rust buckets." Cameo held out his gloved fist and waited for Cy to hit it. Cy sighed before hitting it and chuckling to his brother's mannerisms. He continued to relay orders to the rest of the troops as they took control of the hangar. But he couldn't help but feel glad about having the general save his skin. He'll have to find a way to repay him for saving his life.
Grievous cursed as his starfighter shuddered from a blast hitting the side of his ship. He looked to the side of the window and saw the frigates jump to hyperspace. He bought them enough time to get the Republic off them. He hit the controls on his ship and prepared to jump to Wild Space.
He punched in the coordinates into the module. Enemy starfighters closing in on the Soulless. The module rung up before a red sign appeared on screen. -Hyperdrive damaged in need of repair. Errors might occur if you resume with the jump. Would you like to continue? Yes or No- He looked over it and continued with the jump. His vision went red as space expanded in red light. The ship lurched back as it disappeared to the vast expanse of space.
"We lost him admiral." The pilot responded into the comms link. Looking where the starship once were.
"No Gold Leader, lock into the magnetic residue left behind. In theory we are able to discern the path of he took." The admiral pointed out to the squad. Knowing that they couldn't let him escape he had an idea. "My operation is here in the navy and the General's is on Utapau. I order you and the rest of your squad to pursue Grievous with data I've sent. It shows the path in which the General jumped. It leads to… the Unknown Regions." The admiral stroked his chin wondering what the Seperatis want with the Unknown Regions. "I'll send another batch of troopers on this excursion. Lead them well captain. Ensor out." The clone pilot nodded as he readied the ARC-170 to jump.
A young girl looked out the window of her house. To look out to the starry and beautiful night. Its calm dark sky lulling her thoughts away in a suave breeze. Her dark crimson locks swayed gently in its touch. She sometimes wondered what else was outside this planet of hers. Nobody knew since Dust worked everywhere except outside its atmosphere. No types energy worked once it left Remnant leaving the shuttles to crash into its surface.
But she didn't care for she was content on living here all just fine. It didn't matter if they were alone in the universe. She was happy to have a caring family and a goal to achieve. Huntsmen were always in need to drive away the monsters of the night. They worked like mercenaries or soldiers for hire, but in a place like Remnant Huntsmen were only needed to kill Grimm and those who wanted to destroy their peace.
Her sister was leaving for Beacon next year. One of the main Huntsmen academies on Remnant. She was still attending Signal and her fifteenth birthday was only a few months away. A sigh escaped her lips as she reclined further into windowsill in her bedroom. Yang isn't going to be able to visit as often if she was busy with Beacon. Well, she will always see her during Summer Break and the Winter Vacation. They could all celebrate Nondescript Winter Holiday together! Maybe Uncle Qrow would visit this time?
She sighed wondering what the future will bring. Now if only she could get some sleep, she had school tomorrow. She got from the windowsill and headed to the bed on the side of the room. Before she could get further a bright light emanating from the window. She turned her head and saw a soft orange streak of light in the sky.
"A comet?" she said to herself as she looked outside the window. Its light was mesmerizing she could look away from it. She never had seen one before. It looked beautiful. She had the desire to make a wish. She knew it was childish, but she wanted to enjoy the moment while it lasted. To make a memory. She closed her eyes as she thought of a wish. "I wish that I could make friends." She chuckles under her breath for the sad wish. It was true she never had any real friends. They would all disregard her and ignore her. She weirded them out with her fanaticism over weapons. Plus, Yang and Taiyang always drew people away, because of their overprotectiveness. To have your dad and sister in the same school was never cool. It's always been like that she reminded herself. The only people she ever talked to were her family anyways. She slapped herself on both cheeks to knock her out of her self pity.
She opened her eyes to see the comet still there leaving a trail of orange light. A thought ran in her head. Did it get larger? She shook her head and headed back to bed before a flash orange light blinded her. Her eyes closed on instinct and shunned away from the window. Her eyes opened to only see white bubbles cloud her vision. Panic ran in her as she tried to find where the comet went. A loud crash echoed in the forest as an orange light illuminated the woods beyond her house.
The girl made her way to the outside of her room. Trying to hear the sounds of the quiet house. A loud snore stopped her search as she let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. Before looking out of her room again she grabbed the large box on her desk and clipped to the back of her belt. She made her way as quietly as she could through the dark hallway. Carefully she stepped over the floorboards out of the house. A soft whine stopped her at the stairs as she looked back to see a small black and white dog looking at her with curiosity.
"Ah, Zwei! I was just getting a glass of milk, like usual." She responded trying to avoid the accusing stare from her dog. "Oh, you got me! I'm trying to find out what fell outside okay? Don't tell Dad or Yang, please!" She got on her knees pleading the dog from not waking up the whole house. A smug look on Zwei's face appeared. The girl knew what he was asking. "Okay extra treats for dinner from now on." Zwei kept on staring asking for more. "We trained you too good mister. Alright you can have piece of meat from my dinner for the month. Plus, belly rubs!" Zwei let out a short and soft bark before walking away to his bed. He accepted the terms.
She rubbed her face, not knowing when he got this smart. She shook her head and made her way out of the large homestead. It was her duty as a huntress to investigate! Or she was just curious about the mysterious comet that fell in the forest near her house. No matter for she was Ruby Rose huntress-in-training.
She ran into the underbrush away from her house following the trail of smoke into the woods. The soft crunching of leaves under her boots was heard as the smell of life filtered into her. Her hands drifted to the box attached to the small of her back. A content sigh escaped her mouth for she wasn't afraid of anything that might pop-up. The girl ran without a care in the world for she didn't know what awaited beyond the woods.
[A/N] So another chapter for this story that I've decided to right about a grumpy cyborg and a small red reaper. You might be thinking why another chapter so soon after the previous was a day ago? Well, the answer is clear! When you're stuck in quarantine you have a lot of time to yourself so I decided to use it on writing today. I did say I was gonna have irregular updates so I might update a day afterward a week or even a month. I really need to make a schedule.
But for now, I have a lot of ideas for where I might take this story, but the problem is fleshing them out correctly. But that's really late game and right now I'm in exposition. Hope I've gotten Kenobi's character right for when the prequels happen. Oh, and a Clone Trooper gets saved by the illustrious General Kenobi. Hope he can come up with a thank you for him… Oh, wait. (Sorry not sorry)
I read the reviews and saw that I already got 16 favorites and 26 follows plus 4 reviews (not counting my own). This really motivates to keep writing and I hope I can do good for everyone by making an engaging storyline. Anyways this is my first time writing a story and posting it online so it's a big first. Now I've realized I'm the first person to actually make a Grievous Crossover with RWBY. Hurray another first! A lot of firsts here and I'm happy. So, hope you enjoyed what I wrote and leave your opinions so I can meditate on it. 'Til the next time.
