As Tray and Digger led the chipmunks to the edge of the forest, they saw a road that led to a truck stop not to far from them.

"Come on guys." Digger said as he got on all fours and ran down the road.

The Chipmunks, and Tray ran on all fours after Digger who was standing there waiting for them. They dodged the legs of the human workers left and right before they made it to Digger.

"Alright guys, let's try to ask the people around here if we can hitch a ride with them to San Francisco." Tray said. Tray was about to walk away but Simon stopped him.

"We just ask anyone here. Who in the world would let three chipmunks and two gophers rife with them to San Francisco?" Simon said.

Tray sighed in defeat. "Fine..." he began, Alvin chucked a bit which made Tray glare at him. "I suppose you have a better a idea, chump?"

"As a matter a fact I do, chump." Alvin said as he gave Tray a smug grin. "We sing."

"Sing?" Asked a very confused Tray. "That's your plan?"

"Yeah." Alvin said. "Can you sing?"

"Nope. Haven't sang a note in my life." Tray said as he tipped his hat down to hide his shame. "But I'll do the beat, if that's okay."

"Alright." Theodore said with a smile.

"I'll be joinin' you guys to." Digger smiled.

"Great." Alvin said. "But we need to find a place where people can here us."

Theodore looked around and saw an empty spot in the middle of the area. "Guys." he turned to the others. "Follow me."

Theodore and the others ran to the center of the truck stop.

"So what song are we gonna sing?" Theodore asked.

"Well we could sing On the road again by Wille Nelson." Digger suggested.

"That's a good song." Simon said.

"May I please get everyone's attention?" Digger said, trying to get the humans attention. After realizing it didn't work, Digger spoke up. "May I please get everyone's attention!" said again, slightly louder, this time, he got everyone's attention. The human workers stared at them.

"My friends and I are going to be singing On the road again. Tray if you please?" Digger signaled Tray with a wink.

Tray winked back as he started clapping the familiar beat. Digger opened his mouth and began to sing.

On the road again,

I just can't wait to get on the road again,

The life I love is makin' music with my friends,

I can't wait to get on the road again.

Alvin and his brothers stepped and began to sing in harmony.

On the road again,

Goin' places that I've never been,

Seein' things that I may never see again

And I can't wait to get on the road again.

The human workers clapped along to the song. Tray looked at his mate and smiled as he clapped along.

Alvin, and Simon, and Digger stepped back into their original positions. Theodore stepped forward and started to sing his solo.

Here we go, on the road again,

Like a band of Gypsies we go down the highway,

We're the best of friends,

Insisting that the world keep turnin' our way.

Theodore stepped back as Alvin and Digger stepped forward, Alvin took Digger's paw and they sang the last verse together.

And our way is on the road again,

I just can't wait to get on the road again,

The life I love is makin' music with my friends,

And I can't wait to get on the road again, break free,

And I can't wait to get on the road again!

Everyone clapped and cheered for them. Digger looked at Alvin who smiled.

"Um...Alvin?" Digger said. "Your still holding my paw."

Alvin looked down and saw his paw intertwined with Digger's, he quickly let go.

"Oh sorry." Alvin said, he looked away from his friend.

"It's...it's fine." Digger said. He looked at his mate. "Oh, Tray needs me." Digger went over Tray.

Alvin sighed. "Digger's very happy with him." he said as he the two lovers embrace each other.

"Alvin! Come quick!" Theodore called.

Alvin ran over to see Simon, and Theodore, Digger, and Tray standing with a man.

"What's wrong?" Alvin asked.

"Alvin meet my old human friend Hank. Hank is going to give us a ride to San Francisco." Digger said.

Hank was a thin man with dirty blonde hair and he was wearing a red plat shirt and gray pants and shoes.

Alvin looked up at Hank who had a smile on his face.

"You guys were amazing and I'll be glad to give you guys a ride." He said.

"Thanks." Alvin said. "So where's your truck?"

"Come on." Hank said as he walked away.

The Chipmunks, Digger, and Tray followed Hank to his truck. It was a in good condition.

Hank opened the door and he and the chipmunks and the gophers and got inside.

"So where you guys heading?" He said as he started the truck

As they drove off, there was an unusual sound of silence, so Alvin decided to break it.

"We're going to San Francisco to find our parents." Alvin said. "Our friends Digger and Tray are helping us too."

"Cross country journey, huh?" Mr. Carver said. "Finding family. Gotta be easy for you, huh?"

"Actually this journey has been_" Simon got cut off by Alvin covering his mouth with his paw.

"Easy!" Alvin said. "It's been easy, right guys?"

Theodore slowly nodded in agreement, but he was having some doubts.

"Once again, silence dwelled over them, but this time, Theodore chose to break it.

"Guys let's lighten the mood." Theodore said. "Let's sing. That's what we do best."

"No thanks Theo." Alvin said with a yawn. "Too tired." he went to sleep.

"I hate to say this but do what you want." Simon said as he went to sleep.

Theodore sighed. "Fine." he mumbled. "I'll do it myself.

Theodore opened his mouth and began to sing.

Like a true nature's child,

We were born, born to be wild,

We can climb so high,

I never wanna die,

HankjoinedTheodore on the last two verses of the song.

Born to be wild,

Born to be wild.

"You sing good Hank." Theodore said.

"You too chipmunk." Hank said. "I'll drive for a little while longer before we go to hotel for the night.

"Okay." Theodore said as he closed his eyes as he dozed off to sleep.

Meanwhile Digger and Tray were holding each other's paw and talking.

"I've...um have been thinking about that idea ya friends have been talking about, it's... singin' right?" Asked a very nervous Tray. Digger slowly nodded.

Digger's eyes winded. "Does that mean?" Digger began.

Tray nodded. "Yep." He said. "I'm singin' for ya."

Tray opened his mouth and gently began to sing, not to wake up the three sleeping chipmunks.

Baby be my love song,

Baby be my all night long,

Be the buzz in my Dixie cup,

My steady rockin' till the sun comes up,

You know I really love to watch you dance,

Baby be my, "Oh hell yeah!",

I feel a little sing-along, sing-aling comin' on,

Baby be my love song!

Tray looked at his mate with a grin.

"So what do ya think?" Tray asked.

"I love it. Gotta admit you have a darn good voice." Digger smiled.

"Yeah. Whatever." Tray said, secretly happy.

Tray and Digger went to sleep, still holding each other's paw.
