Chapter 6

Edward's mind watched in haze of the fury movement contained within the room, he almost missed the sight of Bella leaving out of the door with a blushing smirk, disappearing out of the corner of his eye. His body was moving before his brain could catch up. If he could get to her now then they could talk. They had to talk.

"Bella. Bella!" He called out taking her by the elbow so that she turned to face him. Had he not been so desperate he may have regretted the action if the look on her face was anything to go by.

"What Edward!?" She growled yanking her arm back out of his reach. His hand felt cold under the loss of her touch, it had been 20 years…

"Uh, I- we need to talk." The vampire found himself stuttering nervously under her glare. He winced at his own uneasiness.

Come on Edward, man up!

"Well, I don't exactly want to talk to you." She spoke coldly turning to leave, however he rushed in front of her to block her path. "Bella, we need to talk."

In less than a second her expression turned from cold to seething, her anger almost hot to the touch. Stumbling unexpectedly over his own feet as Bella pushed him backwards into the next room. "That's laughable coming from you. Now you want to talk? Now you value what I have to say? Okay, let's talk. Where should we start? How you lied to me, how you broke my heart, how it never once crossed your mind that maybe I had something to say about my own life? Or do you want to talk about how you left me dead, unfortunately the blood suckers got to me before the hyperthermia did. How's that for talking?" She shouted.

Edward was frozen, he spluttered looking for the right thing to say. "No, Bella listen-"

"I was just a pawn to you. I was weak, I fell for your lies." The surface layer anger was replaced by a hatred routed much deeper, something much more terrifying as she stalked towards him, "But I'm not weak anymore." She whispered, a dark look forming under the curtains of her hair.

"Enjoy the rest of your stay Mr Cullen, fortunately I must go. Alec, Jane and I have some business to attend to out of the country and I must be well fed for our…travels." The smirk returned back to her face and he watched her leave with little interest in him, joining up with Jane further up.

Edward's mouth dropped open and he slided to his knees, no longer able to support the weight of his body. He was still shaken when the rest of his family found him, Rosalie and Emmett included.

'My poor son…and poor Bella…She took this path for vengeance, she's hurting you can see it in her eyes." Esme's eyes were full of sorrow.

Edward cringed. Esme was right, he had always feared that he would ruin Bella's soul…and that's exactly what he ended up doing.

"What are you doing here?" He muttered hollow.

"We need a plan," Alice informed, "Well, a new plan anyway." She continued on despite no more input, "Apparently she won't listen long enough for reasoning which…is understandable however not what we need right now. You need to show her how much you love her; after all, actions speak louder than words." She made it sound like the most obvious thing in the world, and maybe if he were dealing with old Bella it would be. But now…? She was unpredictable.

"Well I for one defiantly want my sister back." Emmett demanded, "So this better work. Edward, you have to be the most dazzling, heart jerking version of yourself you've ever been."

"What do you mean Bella's leaving tomorrow?"

"I mean she's leaving tomorrow for some mission Alice, I don't know when she'll be back."

"What sort of mission?" Esme asked looking worried, "Will she be okay?"

"I don't know." Edward replied sourly as Emmett chimed in, "You know she can set things on fire right? And apparently rip a guy twice her size heads off…I'm sure we have nothing to worry about." Emmett's bitterness about missing the training session was met with sharp looks. "Look, I'm just saying the next time you chose to watch Bella do something awesome, feel free to bring me along."

Alice shook her head, whether or not over Emmett of her own thoughts was unclear, "Well then we have to speed up our plans. Tonight."

Shaking his own head Edward stood up, "I think I've annoyed her enough for one day. I think it's best to leave her alone for now, until after she gets back."

Alice pondered over her brothers words before agreeing herself with a burst of energy, "She'll be back soon." She repeated, "Yes, and as they say, distance does the heart wonders. We'll have Bella back and the two of you married in no time." She chimed. She had started planning their wedding the minute Edward introduced them to her. Nothing insane….of course, just a few notes and the beginning of a folder (these things couldn't be rushed), she was just so glad to see Edward finally have someone in his life who loved him…

Or course a few details would have to be altered and updated-

Edward cleared his throat looking flustered; of course he wanted to marry Bella, marrying her had been all he had wanted. Had Bella not had made her distaste for marriage so glaringly obvious he may have asked her sooner…to think, had he not left they could have already been married by now…

He could picture it, he's spent the better part of two decades picturing her walking the aisle in a white dress. It had tormented him, a dream he could not have, it lived purely in his mind, the only place he could still have her.

Maybe now…?

"Maybe smaller steps Alice." Carlisle inputted putting his hand on Edward's shoulder. Alice's smile cropped looking crestfallen, "Fine." She grumbled, "But I will be planning your wedding and you will thank me."

The room falling silent Carlisle looked towards the door, "How about I go speak to Aro? See if I can get him to mention anything about what Bella is up to?" He smiled reassuringly.

"With how much he loves to talk about her I doubt It should be hard." Esme said standing up to join her husband, "I'll go with you."

Before they left Esme brushed her hand over Edwards arm, "I know it looks bleak right now but you're getting something not a lot of people are lucky enough to have, a second chance. Bella will come around, I know she will."

This chapter was originally a thousand words longer...but I cut a lot out editing. It was all for the best, trust me.
