Chapter Four: Amortentia
After breakfast was over Carly started making her way to the potions classroom when she bumped into Brittney again. "Oh, it's you again." Brittney said in a very irritated tone and a roll of her eyes while she started filing her nails.
"Believe me Brittney I'm just as upset about it as you are." Carly said as she went to go find her seat just as Professor Snape entered the room and with a simple wave of his wand the door magically shut behind him as he continued walking to the front of the class and then stopped and turned back around to face them.
"Today we're going to be discussing Amortentia. Now who can tell me what that is?" He questioned as Brittney shot her hand up immediately
"I can professor!" She sung out excitedly as Carly groaned and rolled her eyes.
"Oh great here we go." She muttered underneath her breath as Professor Snape gave a nod.
"Go on then." He told her before she quickly sprung to her feet.
"Amortentia is the most powerful love potion in existence that causes the drinker to become obsessed and infatuated with the person who gave it to them." She explained with a bright smile.
"Excellent ten points to Slytherin." Professor Snape told her as Carly suddenly felt her head collapse on top of her desk. Laughter broke throughout the classroom as Brittney started applauding for herself and her smile grew wider.
"Quiet." Professor Snape told them. "And take your seat Ms. Stevenson." He added curtly and Carly stifled a laugh as Brittney's face suddenly fell while she slowly sat back down. "Now for today's assignment we will be gathering the ingredients together that will be written up on the board and brew our potions.
Anything that isn't completed by the time that the bell rings will be completed outside of class." He explained as the chalk levitated and started magically writing the ingredients up on the chalkboard. Everybody got up from their seats and started collecting their cauldrons.
"So you do know what this means don't you?" Brittney questioned Carly.
"Yeah, that Snape called you out for being an idiot." She replied as Brittney just simply narrowed her eyebrows and glared at her.
"Listen you little worm, you might be a pureblood but that doesn't mean that you're wanted around here. After all your own father abandoned you, and Aaron's more interested in me anyways." She told her.
"Yeah, in your dreams and in his nightmares." She replied with another roll of her eyes.
"You stay away from him you got that!?" Brittney cried.
"Or what?" Carly questioned her back.
"Or I'll make your life miserable for the rest of your life." Brittney told her with an evil sneer.
"Oh gosh I'm really scared!" Carly exclaimed sarcastically with a rather dramatic gasp before looking up at the board and starting to collect her ingredients.
"You just wait Clark, once I know how to properly brew a love potion Aaron Parker will be mine and then there won't be anything that you'll be able to do about it." She said to herself and then let out an evil and malicious laugh before turning around to go collect her ingredients.
Later on after class was finished Aaron met Carly back out in the hallway. "So how did it go?" He questioned her while they started walking to classes together.
"Eh, not much happened." She began with a shrug. "We brewed a love potion and Brittney threatened to make my life miserable if I didn't stop talking to you." She explained as he chuckled.
"Wow, that girl has got serious issues she is completely obsessed with me." He said.
"I know, but I'm not afraid of her in the slightest bit though." She assured him. "So how did your music class go?" She inquired as now it was his turn to shrug.
"Not much, we just worked on our scales. So I heard that you're going to start working on our nonverbal spells this year in defense against the dark arts." He said.
"Yeah, but I can't really see how it'll be that much different from verbal spells." She replied.
"I can." He began with a grin. "If Brittney can't hear you hexing her then she won't be prepared for it." He told her as she grinned back at him.
"Good point, now come on we better go before we're late for class." She told him as they exchanged smiles and then they both continued on their way.
…
Aaron returned from the boy's lavatory and then rejoined Carly and Bailey at the Gryffindor table while chatter filled the Great Hall. "So, got any ideas for band names yet?" Bailey questioned him before taking a bite of her sandwich.
"No." Aaron replied.
"Would you like to hear some of my ideas?" Bailey asked him.
"No! Bailey, just because I said that you could design our costumes doesn't mean that I'm going to let you be in charge of the whole entire operation." He told her before she heaved a sad sigh.
"Look Air, I'm sorry alright? I just wanted to help." She told him while looking up at him innocently and this time it was Aaron's turn to sigh.
"You know I can't resist it when you look at me like that." He told her.
"I know." She boasted with a proud grin as he chuckled.
"Okay, so what's your idea?" He wondered.
"Well, it's all about image. You'll want a name that looks cool and that the fans will be chanting. Something like The Sorcerers or something." She told him as he smiled rather warmly and lovingly at her.
"Hmm,.. that doesn't sound that bad actually." Aaron replied when suddenly he felt a rolled-up paper ball hit him in the head. "What the_" he began while quickly turning his head around and saw Derek holding up a piece of parchment that read:
"Meet me out in the courtyard after classes."
Aaron rolled his eyes and slightly shook his head. "What does that idiot want now?" He questioned while rubbing his head and slowly turning back around to face Bailey and Carly.
"That's a fine thing to call one of your best friends." Carly said sarcastically.
"Some best friend you would think that he would find a better way to get my attention." Aaron said before giving his head another slight shake and then continued eating his lunch.
