When you are born all you see is black and gray until you lock eyes with your soulmate. But the trick is, you don't get a soulmate until both of you are the age of 18. It could take some people years to find them. Others it could take minutes. But what happens if someone already met their soulmate without knowing it?
Sarah is 22 years old now. She is starting her final semester in college but this time, abroad as a French language major. Now that the mandatory classes are over it's time to get down to business. French language 13. Her summer is ending and it's time for her to start packing up leaving Vermont behind to head out to France.
"Karen? What was it like when you saw in color the first time?" Sarah asked as she packed up her suitcase.
"Why did you find a boy? Did you see color?" Karen sat down on the floor next to her rubbing Sarah's long raven hair
"No. I just wish I had found him already"
Sarah and Karen have grown close since running the labyrinth with He Who Shall Not Be Thought About. Sarah dare not think about the man who offered her dreams. The man who made her tingle inside and out with magic, the man who she secretly wished she got to see again.
"Well, it's like when you eat chocolate for the first time. You can't describe what it tastes like, it's just magic. Delectable. Something you never want to live without. It's like you're reborn into something new" Karen gazed off to look out the window. She spotted an owl flying away from the branch closest to them.
Jareth flew back to the Labyrinth to prepare for his journey. He transformed back into his Fae form and approached his not the most loyal but his favorite companion, Sir Didymus.
"Didy, I have a mission for you. I find it is one that you will enjoy." Jareth poured Sir Didymus a cup of tea and sat next to him.
"Sire, how might thou I be of service? Thine wish is my command and thou will hold this noble task to the utmost importance" Sir Didymus cocked his head to the side and stroked his white beard
"You my friend, will care for the Labyrinth and the goblins until I return. I have personal matters to tend to."
With a knowing look, Didymus nodded his head and sipped his tea. "Could it be about thee fair maiden thou hasn't been able to tear thine eyes from?"
Jareth growled and stormed out of the room. Why would Sarah leave him like that in that damned Escher room? Why did it take her this long to make a wish out loud? Why the hell did she have to be so stubborn?
He started packing up his precious belongings and gazed out the window into the Labyrinth. How he would miss this. How he'd miss the view. Even if he couldn't see in color, he knew that it was beautiful. He had always been hypnotized by the labyrinth, that's why he gave up his chance to rule the high court leaving him to eternal damnation and exile.
'Well Jareth time for a new adventure' he thought and vanished leaving a trail of glitter in his wake.
