Kim Possible: The Sitch Of Summer: Shorts
Chapter 9: Long Distance Relationship Video Chat
Hope was sitting at a desk in her bedroom looking at her computer. She was on a video chat with her boyfriend Marty McDonald whom she was going to college with at the end of the summer.
"How have you been, Marty?" Hope asked her boyfriend.
"Oh, I've been good," said Marty, "I was just practicing some guitar."
"Thanks for sending me some of those videos of you playing guitar by the way," said Hope, "Especially that last one. What is that song called again?"
"Oh, that song is called It Won't Be Long," replied Marty, "It's a Beatles song."
"Cool," said Hope, "I might have to listen to the Beatles more often."
Marty chuckled, "I would certainly love that."
Hope chuckled, "So how are Ben and Sophie?"
"Oh, they're doing great," said Marty, "We've just been hanging out with some of our other friends. They're all Beatles fans too. We like to jam a little sometimes. We'd actually play together sometimes in school talent shows. We actually might form a Beatles Tribute Band."
"Beatles tribute band," repeated Hope curiously.
"It's a type of band that dresses up like the Beatles and plays their music," said Marty, "Me and my friends watch those types of bands all the time."
"Hmm, that sounds... Interesting," said Hope
"Yeah. And anyway my friends are really excited for you guys to come to Starlight University," said Marty.
"Cool. Can't wait to meet them," said Hope
"I think you'll like them," said Marty, "Sophie's best friend Christine has really been looking forward to meeting you guys. The reason she couldn't while you were here a couple weeks ago was because she was busy with her family. She and Sophie are going to be on the cheer squad."
"Sounds great," said Hope.
"And my friends are excited to meet you guys so they wanted me to tell you about them. About what they're doing in the school I mean," said Marty.
"Ok, what can you tell me about them?" asked Hope.
"A few things you should know," said Marty, "is that our friend, Doug, who also plays guitar, is on the football team. He's a nice guy so I think he and Ron will get along well."
"Oh, sounds good," said Hope.
"And another friend of ours, Ken, plays the drums," said Marty, "He's gonna be in the marching band and jazz band in Starlight University."
"Ooh, that sounds interesting," said Hope with interest in her voice.
"And our friend Jack is basically a multi instrumentalist," said Marty, "He's been getting really good at bass guitar."
"Wow. Bass guitar," said Hope.
"Yeah, he's been learning to play bass left handed like Paul Mccartney from the Beatles," said Marty.
"Left handed," said Hope in surprise, "That sounds challenging."
"He also plays the tuba too," said Marty.
"The tuba?" said Hope in surprise, "Interesting instrument choice."
"Yeah, Jack is going to be in the marching band and orchestra in Starlight University," explained Marty, "He's alright with you guys knowing that. The only person in high school who's ever made fun of his choice of instruments is Giselle."
"Ugh, someone just has to tell that Giselle person to lay off," said Hope in disgust, "She sounds almost as bad as Bonnie."
"You said it," said Marty, "Glad to know you're not letting that evil witch tell you how to live your life anymore."
"Yeah, well, if there is one mistake that all of us on the cheer squad, including Kim, have ever made, it's listening to Bonnie's junk about the food chain," said Hope in disgust.
"Well, nice to know you've learned your lesson," said Marty with a chuckle.
Hope chuckled back, "But really, your friends sound interesting. Can't wait to meet them."
"So how's everyone been in Middleton?" asked Marty.
"Oh, we're all doing good, Marty," said Hope, "We actually haven't had any villains to deal with since Bonnie kidnapped us all again."
"Yeah, I can't believe that right after Bonnie got sent to jail, she escaped, kidnapped Tara and pretended to be her, kidnapped all of you and your friends and tried to put mind control collars on all of you again," said Marty with a scowl.
"Yeah, hopefully we won't have to deal with her again for a while," said Hope.
"Also, I can't believe Kim and Ron are actually engaged," said Marty, "Don't get me wrong. I'm happy for them. I just didn't expect them to want to get married this soon."
Hope chuckled, "Yeah, well, considering everything that has happened, I don't think they'll want to back off from the decision to become husband and wife anytime soon."
Marty chuckled, "Yeah, that sounds about right. So when's the wedding."
"Kim told me she wants to have the wedding on August 5th," said Hope.
"That soon?" said Marty in surprise, "But will they have enough time to prepare for the wedding?"
"As long as all of us give them a hand, prepping for the wedding in a short amount of time will be a piece of cake," said Hope, "And like Kim would say: No big."
"Ok. Well, tell Kim and Ron that I wish them the best of luck and that I can't wait for you guys to go to college with us," said Marty.
"I will," said Hope.
