Chapter Eight: True Love Always Prevails
"Come along Aaron!" Bailey snapped while continuing to drag him towards Professor Dumbledore's office.
"Are we going to a church to work out the marriage ceremony?" He questioned her obviously still completely out of it.
"No, we're going to Professor Dumbledore so he can give you the antidote to Brittney's love potion." She replied.
"Wait a second, a love potion? What do you mean a love potion?" He questioned her with uncertainty.
"The love potion that Brittney slipped inside your butterbeer and I warned you not to drink it but you wouldn't listen to me." She told him before finally letting go of his arm and then knocked upon the professor's door.
"Bailey?" Professor Dumbledore questioned after he answered the door and looked over at her and Aaron. "What are you both doing here so late? Shouldn't you both have gone back to your dormitories by now?" He wondered.
"Sorry Professor, but he is driving me absolutely bonkers!" Bailey exclaimed while pointing over at her older brother. "Brittney spiked his butterbeer with a love potion and I was hoping and praying that you could fix him and give him the antidote." She explained as Dumbledore glanced over at Aaron.
"Aaron is this true?" He questioned him as Bailey whirled around to face her brother once again but he still had a really rather goofy and dreamy look on his face.
"Do you think Brittney would like to come and watch me at Qudditch practice sometime?" He wondered as Bailey let out a rather loud noise of frustration and turned back to face Dumbledore.
"There! Now do you see what I'm talking about and what all I have to put up with!?" She cried. "All night it's been Brittney this, and Brittney that with him! Not to the mention the fact that he wanted to share the spotlight with her once the entire school started chanting his name!" She told him as Dumbledore just simply looked at her.
"Ah,.. I see." He began while giving her a slight nod in understanding. "Well in that case Bailey you would most certainly be correct. This is indeed a very serious matter. That,.. and could it be perhaps,.. that you are a bit envious of Aaron's sudden fame and popularity?" He inquired.
"No!" Bailey suddenly cried out as her face turned bright red and backed away from him.
"Cause you do realize that that would be considered perfectly normal don't you?" He questioned her as she took a deep breath and then heaved a sigh before giving a shrug.
"I suppose so." She replied.
"Well, I suppose that I should start whipping up an antidote for your brother so you two can talk in the morning. As for right now, you best be getting to bed." He told her.
"Yes Professor Dumbledore." She replied as she slowly turned around, heaved a sad sigh, and with a somber expression on her face started heading back to the Gryffindor common room. That night Bailey found that she could hardly sleep. For Dumbledore might have accidentally wound up touching a raw nerve with her but he had also been correct.
Whether she was at home or at school, Aaron was the one who always seemed to wind up with all of the attention. This year had been her thirteenth birthday but hardly anybody remembered that or the fact that she was now officially a teenager because Aaron was now officially an adult wizard who would be graduating Hogwarts this year and that's what they all cared about more.
A few hot and angry tears stung her eyes and then rolled down her cheeks before she finally rolled over, closed her eyes, and went to sleep. The next morning at breakfast Aaron found that he could barely remember what had happened the night before, but as he turned his head he noticed that both Carly and Bailey were giving him the silent treatment and just simply sighed.
….
"How out of I was it last night anyways?" Aaron questioned Derek as both boys were now in their school Qudditch robes as they started making their way towards the Qudditch pitch with broomsticks in their hands.
"You were up on top of the tables singing and dancing about how much you were in love with Brittney." Derek began. "You tell me." He finished.
"Okay, that explains why all of the girls around here have been even more flirtatious with me, but that doesn't explain why Carly and Bailey haven't said a word to me all day." He said.
"Isn't it obvious mate? Bailey's jealous of all of the attention you've been getting since nearly the entire school is obsessed with you now. On the plus side, we really shouldn't have any problems auditioning for the talent show though." He told him.
"Okay, so what about Carly?" Aaron questioned him.
"That one should be obvious as well. She likes you and it really upset her that you were singing about somebody else." Derek told him.
"And what? She thought that I actually meant it? I was under a love potion for goodness sakes I don't even remember what I had for supper last night let alone singing Brittney a love song!" He cried.
"Look, you know that and I know that,.. and deep down I even think Carly knows that. However, it still couldn't have been easy for her to watch." Derek pointed out. "I have a feeling that you would feel exactly the same way if the roles were reversed." He told him as Aaron nodded.
"Yeah, you're right, I'll find a way to talk to her after practice. Maybe she'll want to go and get a butterbeer with me tonight or something." He said before quickly hurrying onto the field. After practice was over, Aaron managed to catch Carly before she headed into the girl's locker room to change.
"Hey Carly wait up!" He cried as he started racing towards her and she just simply heaved a sigh while slowly turning around to face him.
"What do you want Aaron?" She questioned him reluctantly while placing a hand upon her hip.
"I just wanted to say that you did a very good job during beater practice today." He told her as his eyes dazzled and his smile glistened at her and she let out a sudden gasp and quickly turned away from him.
"Umm,.. thank you." She replied.
"Carly,.." He began softly as he took her hand and she slowly turned back around to face him. "You honestly don't believe that I could ever love let alone like a girl like Brittney do you?" He inquired but before she could answer him he started to sing to her.
"Mhm,.. yeah, yeah,.. oh did you know, that I would give you an everlasting rose,.. if you would only be,.. with me. For I believe that we belong together just like Beauty and The Beast_" he sang and as she placed her hand on her hip again and simply just scoffed while looking at him in disgust Aaron continued singing and waved his hands out in front of his face. "Of course neither one of them is actually you and me." He sang as she just rolled her eyes at him.
"Just like Ariel and the prince, we could always be like this." He sang as he took both of her hands inside his and started to belt. "So whyyyyyyyyy wait!? When everything feels so right!? Is it fate!? Girl I can't get you out of my mind! For when I first look into your eyes I knew that it was meant to be, forever you and me, don't you know that true love always prevails? You're the princess to my prince, and the beginning and the end of my fairytale." He sang as he smiled at her and then Carly blushed and simply just heaved a sigh.
"Oh Aaron." She said before she started to sing as well. "Just what do you expect me to do? Don't you know that we're barely just friends?" She questioned him as he gazed deeply into her eyes and then placed a tender hand to her cheek and gently rubbed his thumb a crossed it.
"Girl yes I do, but whenever I look at you,.. I just don't think this feeling I'm having for you is ever going to end!" He belted before he went back into the chorus. "So whyyyyyyyyy wait!? When everything feels so right!? Is it fate!? Girl I can't get you out of my mind!
For when I first look into your eyes I knew that it was meant to be, forever you and me, don't you know that true love always prevails? You're the princess to my prince, and the beginning and the end of my fairytale. Oh you're the princess to my prince, and the beginning and the end of my fairytale. Oooh,.. yeah." He finished singing before rubbing his thumb against her cheek again and they both gazed into one another's eyes before closing them and slowly leaning in they started kissing each other passionately.
