Chapter Nine: The Attack

That night Aaron had decided to take Carly out for a butterbeer in Hogsmeade. (Since she happily agreed to it of course after he had asked her out.) Aaron had met her out in front of the castle in the courtyard guided by the light of his wand and waited for her. Shortly afterwards a few moments later she arrived guided by the light of her own wand.

"Uh Aaron, do you really think that this is such a good idea? I mean if anybody catches out here we're dead meat! And what if we run into a werewolf!?" She exclaimed questioningly inside a whisper.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you if we run a cross one but I'm sure that we won't." He said as he smiled back at her and started walking a crossed the yard with her.

"You know what? I better transform just in case anybody looks out here and they'll think that you're trying to rescue somebody's cat or something." Carly said before her body shrank down and she turned into an orange and white kitty cat that resembled Ginger while trotting off into the distance.

That's when all of a sudden, she wished she hadn't. For emerging through the shadows and following the scent of their trail was Carly's worst fears come true. Carly stopped and widened her eyes as a werewolf was now hunched over her and getting ready to attack her and let out a painful yowl.

"Carly!" Aaron cried out in a horrified gasp. "Lumos Maxima!" He exclaimed and an enormous amount of light protruded out of the tip of his wand shinning brightly inside the werewolf's eyes that he had to cover them with his paws. "Run Carly!" He hollered and Carly sprinted away and then Aaron started to run as well wishing now more than ever that he could disapparate, but for one he didn't have his license yet, and for two he knew that he couldn't on Hogwarts grounds.

A few seconds later the werewolf started chasing after him and he was now starting to regret his decision not to listen to Carly and stay inside the castle. "Lord, if you get me through this I promise that I'll never go out after hours again." He said but it was already too late as the werewolf finally caught up to him and bit him on the shoulder.

Aaron suddenly let out a shriek of pain and collapsed onto his knees. Just when he thought that he was going to die, he heard the sound of wizardcrackers going off inside the distance and he quickly turned around and ran away. The next thing he knew was Bailey was running towards him and she quickly stopped in front of him and placed her hands on top of her hips.

"You really are a moron ya know that!? Nearly getting yourself killed all for a girl?" She questioned him.

"Bailey,.." Aaron began. "How did you know?"

"Carly came and told me and it's a really good thing that she did! I almost lost you tonight!" She cried and as Aaron slowly glanced up at her he suddenly realized that her eyes were full of tears and rolling down her cheeks.

"Bailey,.. you care?" He questioned her with complete and utter shock and disbelief.

"What are you talking about of course I care! You're my big brother and I love you despite the fact that you've never really seemed to give me attention or affection before!" She sobbed and that's when suddenly Aaron slowly stood up and started feeling extremely guilty as she wept.

"Bailey,.. I'm so sorry please forgive me." He told her.

"Forget it." She began with a sniff. "Just forget about it alright? We'll talk about it later. Right now we need to get you to the hospital wing before you start loosing too much blood." She said as she allowed him to use her shoulder for support while he started limping his way back to the castle with her by his side.

"Bailey, you have to know that I really do love you and I'm really sorry for being such a lousy big brother." Aaron apologized.

"It's alright, I don't think that I was all that much better of a sister to you to tell you the truth. I seem to boss you around an awful lot." She suddenly realized with another sniff.

"You know if you tried to be more of little sister and less of my mother, we probably would have a much stronger and better relationship." Aaron pointed out.

"Yeah,.. I guess you're right, I'm sorry Aaron. I'll try to dial it back a little." She told him.

"Actually, you should try dialing it down an awful lot." He told her before she heaved a sigh.

"Sorry a lot, you're right." She replied before they both re entered the castle and both Professor Snape and Professor McGonagall were standing there before them with rather cross expressions on their faces.

"Now look, before you guys say anything I just wanted to let you know that this was all my fault and not Bailey's." Aaron told them.

"Yes we know Parker. Ms. Clark came to us and told us everything. We'll discuss both of your punishments in the morning but right now you need to get to the hospital wing and your sister needs to get back to bed." Professor McGonagall said.

"Yes, Professor McGonagall." Bailey replied with a nod before turning around and walking back down the hallway with the light of her wand guiding her through the dark as both Professor Snape and Professor McGonagall helped Aaron to the hospital wing.

The next morning at breakfast Professor McGonagall came over to the Gryffindor table to speak with Aaron and Carly. "I just thought that you should know that I wound up sending an owl to both of your families last night and fifty points have been taken from you each as well as both of you receiving detention tonight." She told them as Aaron just simply widened his eyes and gaped his mouth wide open at her.

"What!? You can't do that the auditions for the school talent show are tonight!" He cried.

"Well I'm sorry Mr. Parker but you should have thought about that before breaking curfew and the punishment still stands." Professor McGonagall said before she turned around and walked away and after she was gone Carly turned over to look at him.

"Now what are you going to do?" She whispered as Aaron let out a deep breath of exasperation.

"I have absolutely no idea." He replied with a groan before letting his head collapse on top of the table.
