Chapter Ten: The Secret Weapon
"I'm doomed." Aaron muttered underneath his breath.
"Don't worry, I'm in the same boat as you are because I was going to audition as well." Carly told him. "However, I'm afraid that there isn't anything that we can do about it." She told him when suddenly he raised his head and then turned it to look over at Bailey who busily sketching something on a parchment of paper.
"Actually, maybe there is." He told her.
"Uh oh,.. Aaron, what are you thinking about now?" Carly questioned him anxiously.
"Hey Bailey, what are you doing?" He wondered and a few seconds later she raised her parchment and allowed him to see that she had finished sketching him and the rest of the boys and that she was now starting to color in their outfits that appeared to be a brightly colored red. "Wow,.. that's cool. I didn't know that you could draw like that." He told her with a grin.
"You never asked me." She began. "So what do you want anyways?" She asked him before he just simply looked at her.
"Trust me, I've lived with you for thirteen years, I know when you want something from me." She told him.
"Well, actually,.. I don't believe it or not. I just want to ask you what all you know about speedy spices?" He questioned her with a rather sly grin.
"I know that you're as sunk as the RMS Titanic. Speedy spices don't grow at Hogwarts or even in Britain. You would have to go to Africa if you wanted to get your hands on some." She told him before Aaron pretended to sob and then let his head and hands collapse on top of the table again.
"Why can't we disapparate at Hogwarts why!?" He groaned.
"You already know the answer to that." Bailey began. "It's so that no unwanted wizards and witches can travel amongst the grounds." She finished. "However, I already have the solution to your problem." She began again. "Susie Quinton is a friend of mine and her grandparents are muggles that come from Africa. I can ask her if she can write to them and get the spices back in time for the auditions." She explained.
"Don't be ridiculous that's impossible." Aaron groaned but she simply just grinned at him.
"It isn't if we freeze time." She told him as he suddenly excitedly shot upright.
"And how exactly are you going to get into the potions classroom without any questions being asked?" Carly wondered.
"Well,.. I have a friend by the name of Jack Fleamont and he has an invisibility cloak." Aaron told her with a grin.
"Ah I know Jack as well. He's a fourth year Hufflepuff and he's actually rather attractive." Carly said with a sly grin before Aaron gave her an evil eye. "Of course, not as attractive as you are Aaron." She added quickly.
"Yeah, that's what I thought." He told her before planting a kiss on her cheek and then getting up from his seat. "Anyways, I'm sure that once Jack finds out what's going on, he'll be happy to help." He said.
"Uh,.. Aaron? Where are you going? We have classes remember?" Bailey reminded him questioningly.
"Oh yeah, that's right. I'll send a note to Jack to tell him to meet me after classes today then." He said as he started walking towards the exit of the Great Hall.
….
"Alright Aaron, what's going on?" A boy with rather long shaggy brown hair and copper colored eyes and wearing Hufflepuff robes questioned him. After Aaron explained to him the situation Jack just simply shook his head at him while handing the invisibility cloak over to him.
"I just hope you know what you're doing." He told him.
"Believe me so do I." Aaron responded before throwing the cloak over himself and then turned back around and started heading back inside the castle.
….
As Bailey was busily working on her essay about puffapods, a Gryffindor boy and hazel colored eyes sat down beside her. "Hey Bailey, mind if I study with you? I'm not sure if we officially ever spoken to one another but I'm Maximus Fleamont even though I mostly go by Max and I'm Jack's little brother. We're in the same class." He explained as Bailey smiled back at him.
"Sure, and of course I know who you are Max." She replied. "I think if I'm not mistaken that you both also have a younger sister named Jenny who was sorted into Gryffindor as well this year." She said.
"Yeah, and that makes sense because our father was in Gryffindor and our mother was in Hufflepuff. All of my father's family has been in Gryffindor but my mother is a muggleborn so so far it's just her and Jack that has been sorted into Hufflepuff." He told her before they both started working on their homework together.
That's when suddenly the doors to the Great Hall and Max looked up. "Uh Bailey, isn't your brother that guy who was singing and dancing up on top of the tables a few nights ago?" He wondered.
"Yeah, why?" Bailey questioned him back while not looking up from her piece of parchment.
"Because he's coming this way." Max replied quietly as Bailey turned her head to look at him with a groan and rolled her eyes.
"Whatever this is it better be important I'm busy." She told him.
"It is." Aaron began with a rather wide grin before showing her a tiny potion bottle with bright blue substance inside of it. "Say hullo to our secret weapon." He told her excitedly.
"What do you mean secret weapon?" Max wondered.
"It's sort of a long story Max, but I'll be right back." Bailey began as she suddenly got to her feet and walked over to Aaron. "Let's go." She whispered before leading him out into the hallway and shutting the doors behind them.
