Chapter 4

Luckily for Beck and Jade, their break up didn't even last a week. By week 16, they were back together. Jade had come groveling to Beck only 3 days after their break up.

*flashback*

"What're you doing here, Jade?" Beck asked, as he opened his RV door to find Jade standing there.

Before answering his question, she pushed her way into the RV and say down on the couch.

"I'm really sorry I didn't tell you about my family's richness. And I'm really sorry that I basically told you I won't love you in 6 months. I'm just really scared of becoming a mom and of losing you. My parents got divorced when I was really young and I don't want us to do that to our kid. I just want to give out kid the best life possible. And-" Before Jade could ramble on some more, Beck stopped her with a chaste kiss to the lips.

"I forgive you." Beck said, as he pulled away from Jade.

"Really?"

"Yeah, really. I love you. And I get why you said what you said. Technically, you're right. There's nothing confirming we'll still love each other 6 months from now, a year from now, 5 years, 10. There's nothing saying we won't one day fall out of love with each other. I was mad at first, but I realized you're right. I also really it really doesn't matter. We shouldn't go through our relationship like it's going to end at any moment. We should go through it as if our love will last forever, but be aware that it might not. So, you're right, but I forgive you."

"I love you too. And I think our baby loves you. Even though we were only apart for 3 nights, I think the baby knew something was wrong. It would be more active right around bedtime, as if asking 'where's daddy?'"

"Awww, that's so cute." Beck said, as he wrapped a protective arm around Jade's slightly protruding bump. It was small, but definitely round and defined. With the right clothes, there was no mistaking she was pregnant. Jade was already starting to have trouble finding clothes baggy enough to hide it. Pretty soon, everyone would find out the truth.

Luckily for Jade, Beck, and the baby, Jade stayed the night that night.

*end flashback*

Jade was now 18 weeks along. She and Beck had officially moved into their apartment. They'd bought the first baby item: a stuffed bunny from a store window display. They'd see it while walking around in the Art District. Jade had also bought her first piece of maternity clothing: a pair of maternity skinny jeans. She'd officially outgrown her regular pants and skirts and dresses. She was still able to fit in most of her regular t-shirts and jackets, but everything else was too tight.

She'd actually technically bought her first 5 pieces of maternity clothing. She bought 5 pairs of jeans because she'd literally outgrown all of her pants.

"Beck, be honest, do you think these jeans make me look like a 35 year old mother of 3?" Jade asked, as she walked out of their master bathroom. She was wearing the darkest pair of her new maternity jeans and a bra. She had yet to put on a shirt.

"I don't know how to answer that question." Beck wanted to say no, but she would get mad at him if he lied. But if he said yes, she would get mad at him and there's a chance she would start crying.

"It's a simple yes or no, Beck."

"No, you don't look like a 35 year old mother of 3, but you do look like a mother."

"Ugh." Jade groaned, as she walked back into the bathroom.

She came back out of the bathroom about 15 minutes later with a black t-shirt, an extra long black cardigan, a full face of makeup, and her hair curled with blue streaks in it.

"Ok, let's go to school." Jade said, gathering the necessary items for school.

"What about breakfast?" Beck asked, as he too gathered his things for school.

"I don't think we have time for breakfast and I really don't want to be late."

"Jade, the school's literally a mile away. I think we have time. Plus you know your doctor told you it's important to eat breakfast."

Jade let out an exasperated sigh as she made her way to the kitchen.

"You look beautiful, by the way." Beck mentioned, as he walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, leaving one of his hands on her bump.

"You're just saying that because you don't want to sleep on the couch tonight." Jade said, as she removed his hands from her body and continued scurrying around the kitchen.

"While, no, I don't want to sleep on the couch, I'm not telling you you're beautiful just for that reason. You are beautiful. You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. I'm the luckiest guy in the world." Beck confessed, as he again wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. This time, however, she sunk into his embrace.

After a few cute moments, Jade again shoved Beck off, giving some lame excuse about not wanting to be late for school.

They ended up having some fruit and yogurt for breakfast, and then Beck also had a bowl of Frosted Flakes. They made it to school with 15 minutes to spare.

Unfortunately for Jade, that day was no different than any other day since about week 16. People stared at her as she and Beck walked into school. She, like always, yelled at them to mind their own business. Her pregnancy shouldn't concern anyone but herself and Beck, and maybe their friends.

"Hey Beck, hey Jade." Tori said, as she and André walked up to Jade and Beck at the lockers.

"Hey." Beck replied. Jade's reply was just a groan. Clearly she'd woken up on the wrong side of the bed.

"Do you guys wanna go to Karaoke Dokie after school?" Tori asked.

"No."

"Yes."

Beck and Jade gave their answers simultaneously.

"You can go, but I'm good. I don't need a whole new crowd of people staring at me." Jade told Beck.

"I want to go, but you're gonna make me feel bad for leaving you at the apartment all alone, so sorry Tori."

"Beck, just go if you want to go. I'm supposed to be having dinner with my mother anyway. I don't really think you want to go to that."

"No, not really. I guess I'll meet you there, Tori. What time?"

"André and I will probably get there around 7." Tori answered.

"Ok."

"Just, this time, don't let any bitchy, untalented girls touch you." Jade warned, referring to that Hailey girl who she and Cat beat in the Karaoke battle.

"I promise I won't."

With that, the 4 friends parted and made their way to their respective first period class.

The day went on like normal. Jade left in her car to her Mom's house, while Beck left in his car to meet up with Tori, André, Cat, and Robbie at Karaoke Dokie.

The dinner at Jade's mom's house went worse than she thought it would.

"Hi Jade. How're you? How's the baby?" Jade's mom, Hera, asked.

"We're good. The doctor said the baby's right on track." Jade answered, subconsciously putting her hand on her bump.

"How's Beck?"

"Beck's good. As you know, he wouldn't have come with me anyway, but he was actually busy tonight."

"I don't know why Beck doesn't like me."

"I don't know, maybe it's because you continuously tell him how I'm a bad influence on him and he should get out while he still has the chance. Maybe it's because he doesn't like to see his girlfriend verbally berated by her mother."

"Jade, I don't mean it like that. There's just something not right about him."

"What, because it's so hard to believe someone could actually love me? I know I'm not perfect, but you don't have to tell me that to my face."

"No, Jade, that's not what I meant."

"Whatever, I don't really care what you meant. Really the only reason I came is to see my brother."

"Well, actually, Jaxon is with his father tonight."

"Ok, then I'm just gonna go." Jade said, walking back over to the door.

"Jade Marie Carrington West, get back here." Hera called from the kitchen.

Jade groaned and then walked back over to her mother.

"Why are you making me stay?"

"Because, I wanted to tell you something and I wanted us to try and have a nice dinner together. I want to try to repair our relationship at least a little bit before the baby comes."

"Fine, I'll stay, but I'm not gonna like it."

"Of course you won't." Hera said with a sigh, as if her daughter hating dinner was inevitable.

Jade decided to sit down at the small kitchen table. Her back was starting to hurt from the extra weight she was now carrying. Sitting down seemed to help some.

"So what's so important that you called me to dinner to tell me?"

"Well, I'm actually seeing someone. We've been together for about 6 months now."

"Wow, what a shocker. You just finalized your divorce like 9 months ago, and you're already moving on."

"Jade, that's not fair."

"Well, I'm sorry, but you've been married 4 times, and you're only 45. 4 times is a lot. You've had a kid with every husband you've had. Please don't tell me you're pregnant again."

"Well..."

"Wow, mom."

"Jade, it's not like that. I really do like this guy. He's very nice and sweet. I know things are moving fast, but this time it really feels right. Maybe it'll be fifth time's the charm."

"How far along are you?"

"I'm only about 6 weeks. We just found out last week. That's why I wanted you to come to dinner."

"And where's the new guy. Also where's my brat of a sister?"

"Jessa went to a friend's house for a sleepover, and don't call her a brat."

"She's only 11 and already has a phone, a laptop, a tv in her room, and gets to go to her friends' houses like every other night. I'm sorry, but she's a spoiled brat."

"Jade, why can't you just get through one dinner without insulting people. I mean I'm not even finished making the food and you've already insulted me and your sister. Who's next? Jana? Maybe you wanna insult your newest sibling? Or maybe your father?"

"I can't help it."

"Yes, you can."

"Well, for the record, Jana hasn't done anything worth insulting. I insult my father and his bitch of a wife on a daily basis, and I already basically insulted the new baby by insulting you."

"How did you turn out the way you did, Jade? You are beautiful and talented and so smart, but you're mean. You're spiteful and you hold grudges way too much. People are scared of you. Your own 11 year sister is scared of you. Jax adores you too much to be scared, but he's said you yell too much."

"I like scaring people. And besides, if I scare them that much, they're not worth having around."

"Jade, why do you have to say things like that. You know if you said that to your sister, she's burst into turns."

"Maybe you should've raised her to be less sensitive."

"Yeah, and maybe I should've raised you to be more sensitive."

Suddenly, out of nowhere, with no warning, Jade broke down. Horrible sobs wracked through her body. She couldn't stop crying.

"No, Jade. Please don't cry." Hera begged, pulling up a chair next to Jade. "I wasn't trying to be mean. You know I love you, baby."

This only made Jade cry harder. All Hera could do was rub Jade's back and tell her everything was ok. Slowly but surely, Jade's sobs turned into hiccups and her tear ducts finally dried up.

"Now, do you wanna tell me why you just spent 10 minutes bawling your eyes out?"

"This whole pregnancy thing has made me extra emotional. And to be honest, I'm scared my kid is gonna turn out just as cold and mean as me."

"Oh, baby. I'm sure you're child will be just as amazing as you are."

"I hope my kid turns out nice like Beck's Canadian ways. As much as I tell him I hate it, I secretly love his niceness."

At that, Hera chuckled.

"Ok, well, my boyfriend will be here soon and I have to continue making dinner. Do you think you're gonna be ok?" Hera asked, getting up from her seat.

"Yeah, I'll be fine." Jade confirmed, wiping the last few tears off her face. These days, she'd started wearing waterproof makeup due to the fact that she'd become extra emotional with the pregnancy.

Hera went back to cooking and Jade used her phone as a mirror to fix her face.

About 15 minutes later, the doorbell rang.

"Ok, he's here. I expect you to be on your best behavior. Please try not to insult him." Hera said, taking off her apron and smoothing down her clothes

"I'm not making any promises."

Hera walked out of the kitchen and opened the front door. Jade could here the mystery man talking from the living room and something felt oddly familiar about his voice. What happened next was something Jade could've never prepared for.

"Jade I would like you to meet-" Hera started, but was cut off by Jade.

"Lane!" Jade exclaimed. Her guidance counselor was her mom's new boyfriend and the father of her newest sibling. Gross!

"How do you know his name, Jade?" Hera asked, thoroughly confused.

"Mom, Lane is the guidance counselor at Hollywood Arts. How did you not know that?"

"Well, I knew he was a guidance counselor but I never asked from what school."

"Hello, Jade." Lane said, trying to push down the huge sense of awkwardness.

"Nope. I'm done. Good luck with the baby, mom." Jade said, as she picked up her bag and left the house.

Jade drove back to the apartment. She'd tried to not think about Lane possibly becoming her newest stepfather. That's just nasty.

Once Jade got home, she quickly changed into pajamas and decided to call it a night a little early. It was only 8:30, but the baby took a lot of energy out of her.

She slept for about 2 hours until Beck got home.

"Hey babe, how was dinner with your mother?" Beck asked, as he walked into their bedroom.

"It sucked. I didn't actually even end up staying for the dinner." Jade said, as she sat up a little in the bed.

"What happened?"

"So, my mom apparently called me to dinner to tell me some news. Apparently she has a new boyfriend. They've been dating for 6 months. And she's also 6 weeks pregnant."

"Wow. Did you meet the boyfriend?"

"Well, I actually met him 3 years ago. My mom's new boyfriend is Lane. Lane's the father of my newest sibling. Lane might become my stepdad."

"Wow, that's, just. Wow." Beck honestly didn't know what else to say.

"Yeah, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it."

"I'm sorry babe, that sucks."

"It does, but it's fine. At least I don't have to live with my mom anymore."

"It's a win-win for everyone." Beck said, as he leaned in and gave Jade a passionate kiss. Jade only pulled away when she felt the baby kicking.

"Your kid is the worst cock block ever." Jade said, rubbing her bump to try and calm the baby.

"My kid? Why is it suddenly my kid when it does something you don't like?"

"I don't know. It's something my mom does all the time."

"Ok, as long as it goes both ways."

"Beck, I think you might be able to actually feel the baby now." Jade said, ignoring Beck's previous statement.

"Really?" Beck asked, as he placed his hand on Jade's stomach.

Sure enough, Beck felt tiny pokes on his hand.

"Whoa, that's amazing." Beck said, in awe of their child. That was the first time he'd ever been able to feel the baby kick.

"It kinda is." Jade agreed

"I love you so much, and I love our baby so much." Beck professed, as he wrapped his arms around Jade and breathed in her sweet scent.
