Chapter 8
2 weeks later, week 34, Beck and Jade met up with their friends for the first time since summer had started. Everyone was invited over by Tori to the Vega house to play cards and eat pizza.
"Hey, guys." Tori said, too cheery for Jade's liking, as she opened the door.
Beck gave a nice "hi" back, while Jade mumbled a "hey." She'd definitely woken up on the wrong side of the bed that morning. She'd had heartburn all night, and around two am, she got an extremely painful leg cramp. She was forced to get up every 3 hours or so due to the baby sitting on her bladder. Then she'd had a rare case of morning sickness, something she hadn't had consistently since then beginning of her second trimester. She'd thrown up her entire breakfast. On top of all of that, she'd been getting more Braxton Hicks and had gotten 3 before noon.
Jade and Beck walked into Tori's house, and Jade immediately made a beeline for the bathroom. On the car ride over, the nausea had come back. Upon entering Tori's house, she smelled the pizza, which immediately triggered her urge to vomit.
"Is she ok?" Tori asked, noticing Jade's hurry to get to the bathroom.
"Today's been a bad day. She couldn't sleep last night, and then she woke up with nausea. She threw up her breakfast. She's also been in some pain because she's been having more Braxton Hicks. On the car ride over, the nausea came back. I should probably go check on her. I'll be right back." Beck explained, and then scurried off towards the bathroom.
When Beck stepped in front of the bathroom, he could hear an awful retching sound coming from inside. He quietly knocked on the door and asked if he could come in. Jade gave a low grunt, and Beck took that as a yes. When he opened the door, he frowned at the sight before him. Jade was on her knees, leaned over the toilet. Her head was hanging over the toilet, and she was dry heaving into the bowl. Beck knelt down beside her, and rubbed her back, trying to comfort her. Eventually, after a few more heaves, Jade sat back on her feet and put her head on Beck's shoulder. Beck kissed the top of her head and continued to rub her back.
"I'm sorry you feel like shit, babe. Do you wanna go home?" Beck sympathized with her. He knew she hated pitying, but he couldn't help it.
"No. You really wanted to come here tonight. I don't want to take that away from you. I should be ok for at least an hour or so. I'll try drinking some water and eating some crackers to calm my stomach." Jade felt bad. She didn't want to make them go home. This was the first time they'd seen their friends in a month. Jade knew Beck missed them. If she was being honest, she missed them too, but she also kind of too preoccupied with pregnancy to miss anything that much.
"Are you sure? I'm really ok if we go home."
"Yes, I'm sure, Beck. Just let me clean myself up and then I'll go back out with you." Beck knew this was his cue to leave. He pressed one last kiss to her head before getting up. He then offered his hand to Jade, and she accepted it. Sitting on the floor and then getting back up was getting harder and harder everyday. The weight of her baby bump threw off her center of gravity.
Beck left the bathroom and went back out to the living room. He found everyone sitting at the kitchen table, they had been converted into a casino table. Beck sat down in one of the empty seats next to Robbie.
"How's Jade?" Tori asked.
"She says she's fine, but I know she's not. I asked her if she wanted to go home, but she said no. Just please try not to mention anything about her throwing up. And don't ask her how she's feeling. She's already embarrassed enough as is." Beck really did not want to sleep on the couch that night. Somehow, whenever Jade was mad, regardless of whether Beck was the one who'd angered her or not, he'd always end sleeping on the couch that night.
"Ok. Well, then I'll just ask you. How're you?"
"I'm fine. I just feel useless. Shes going through all of this and I can't really do anything about it. All I can do is rub her back and try to make her feel at least a little more comfortable." Beck knew his feeling of uselessness would only get worse as Jade progressed further into her pregnancy, and would be the worst during the birth.
Tori was about to say something else when she heard the bathroom door opened. Jade slowly crossed the threshold and made her way to the seat next to Beck.
"Hi, Jadey." Cat said, in her normal cheery tone, somewhat clueless about Jade's current irritable mood.
"Cat, you know I hate it when you call me that." Jade growled out.
"Sorry. I just haven't seen you in so long." Cat reached over and hugged Jade. Jade counted down from 5, on 1, Cat released.
"So, do you want any pizza? There's still a whole box left." André asked, mostly to Beck, but felt of rude to not include Jade.
"God no." Just the thought of pizza made Jade want to throw up again.
"I'm good." Beck turned down the pizza, even though he really wanted some. He hadn't had pizza in nearly 9 months. It had been a trigger of Jade's nausea since the very beginning of her pregnancy, so he'd stopped eating it.
"Ok, then let's play some cards."
They quickly started the game, and it wasn't until the beginning of the second round that Tori noticed the ring on Jade's left hand.
"Whoa, Jade. I like your ring." Tori said, kind of confused as to why it was on her left hand. Jade hadn't worn it at school. She knew she'd be asked too many questions if she did. She loved the ring and she loved Beck, but they weren't ready to tell anyone anymore big news. It's not like anything had really changed between them, anyway. Even before the pregnancy, they'd acted like they were married.
"Uh, thanks." Jade said, hoping she wouldn't say anything further about it.
"But why is it on your left hand?"
Jade sighed. Did she really want to tell anyone?
"Because it's an engagement ring." She said, as if it were obvious.
Tori, André, Robbie, and Trina's jaws all dropped. Cat was in her own little world , and hadn't noticed the change in the atmosphere. Nobody said anything for what felt like an eternity, until Jade asked a harsh "what."
"When did you two get engaged?" André asked.
"About 3 months ago." Jade answered.
"Why didn't you guys ever tell us?" Tori asked.
"We didn't tell anyone. Not our parents, not you all, no one. We just figured it was best to only divulge one, big, life-changing event at a time." Beck replied.
"So, just to be clear, that means there's officially no way I could ever have a chance, Beck?" Leave it to Trina to make someone else's big news all about herself.
No said anything to Trina, but Jade gave her a death glare and Beck just furrowed his eyebrows.
"So, have you guys set a date for the wedding?" Tori asked, ignoring her older sister's comment.
"Definitely not. We're probably not gonna get married for awhile. With the baby, it's just not the right time." Beck replied, trying to sound as upbeat and carefree as possible. In reality, Beck really wanted to marry Jade, as soon as possible. Beck didn't even care if it was a courthouse wedding, he just wanted to marry her. After a week of on and off arguments, and 3 nights on the couch, Beck finally agreed to touch of the subject of marriage again after the baby was born.
"So what was the point of proposing?" Rex asked. That stupid puppet made Jade's blood boil. The only reason Robbie kept the puppet around is so he could have a way of asking and saying ridiculous and often times rude things, without having to actually say or ask them. Robbie either needed to grow a pair and saying whatever was really on his mind or shut up.
"Uh, because I love Jade and I want to spend the rest of my life with her. Why else would someone propose marriage?" Beck asked, as if the question was stupid, which it was.
"Rex! Why would you ask that? That so rude!" Tori reprimanded the puppet. The only thing Jade hated about the puppet more than the puppet, was the fact that people talked to it as if it were a real person. They were just enabling Robbie to continue using Rex as an unhealthy outlet.
Robbie chose not to have Rex answer, and instead suggested they get back to the game. They played several more rounds, until people began to get bored. Tori suggested other things to do, and they eventually agreed on watching some tv. About 30 minutes into watching some mindless reality show, Jade went to the bathroom. She peed like normal, and it wasn't until the wiped, that she realized she was bleeding. She looked down and saw her underwear had some blood on them as well. She kept wiping and the blood didn't go away. It was only getting more abundant. Not knowing what else to do, she called out to Beck, loud enough so he could hear her from the living room.
Beck was confused when he heard Jade call his name from the bathroom. He assumed she was feeling nauseous again and just wanted him to rub her back. Boy was he wrong. He got up from his spot on the couch and walked over to the bathroom. He knocked on the door and then opened if, not waiting for an answer. He saw her sitting on toilet, her pants down at her ankles, holding a bloody piece of toilet paper in her hand. She had her other hand on her stomach and unshed tears in her eyes.
"What's wrong? What happened?" Beck asked, concerned at seeing the bloody toilet paper.
"I'm bleeding. I-I'm bleeding." Jade said, her voice shaky.
"Ok, what do we do?" How were they supposed to deal with this? She wasn't supposed to be bleeding.
"We need to go to the hospital, now." Jade was trying to stay calm, knowing panicking wouldn't help at all, but internally, she was freaking out. What was wrong with their baby?
"Uh, ok. I'll go get your stuff and tell everyone what's wrong. I'll call the hospital and tell them we're on our way in." Beck said, trying to stay calm. He left her in the bathroom to clean up and went back to the living to do what he said he'd do.
Jade rummaged around the cabinets in Tori's bathroom and found a pad. She put it in her already bloody underwear, flushed the toilet, and then washed her shaky hands. She was terrified. What if their baby was in serious danger? What if their baby was dead or dying? After taking a few deep breaths, she made her way out of the bathroom and found Beck in the living room on the phone with the hospital. He quickly ended the call, and the couple was off to the hospital.
In the car, Beck was going as fast as he could with it still being relatively safe, and praying he didn't get pulled over by a cop.
"Beck, what if something's really wrong with that baby?" Jade asked, her voice getting more strained. She was on the verge of crying.
"I don't know, babe. I really hope the baby's ok." Beck said, trying to sound hopeful. He wanted to be strong for her, but he was also terrified. He loved their baby more than anything, even Jade, and it wasn't even born yet. He knew Hade felt the exact same way. He didn't know what he'd do if something happened.
They made it to the closest hospital in about 10 minutes. Upon their arrival, a nurse with a wheelchair escorted Jade into the ER. Beck followed close behind. Jade was taken to the L&D triage, and immediately hooked up to a heart monitor, blood pressure monitor, and blood oxygen monitor. The nurse asked a few questions and then walked out of the room. She came back a few minutes later with a portable ultrasound. She instructed Jade to lift up her shirt and undo her pants. Jade did as she was told, not even caring how embarrassing it was to be exposed in front of a stranger. The nurse put some cold gel on Jade's stomach and then placed the wand in the gel. The next minute was the longest, most nerve-racking minute of Jade's life. After a minute, the room was filled with the whooshing sound of the baby's heartbeat. Both Beck and Jade let out a breath they didn't even know they'd been holding.
"So, you're baby seems to be fine. The heartbeat's a little slower than we'd like to see, at 130, but still normal. The doctor will be in soon to take some blood for a few blood tests. From my personal medical opinion, it seems as though you have something called preeclampsia. It's a condition that happens during some pregnancy. It happens because of high blood pressure. It can cause preterm labor. I'm not a doctor, but I've been a nurse for 30 years. I've seen many cases of preeclampsia. For right now, your baby is fine. Your blood pressure is a little high, but it's not putting the baby in too much danger. The doctor will be in soon." The nurse explained everything and then left, leaving Beck and Jade alone.
No one said anything. They were both still trying to take in all the information they'd just heard. Suddenly, without any pretense, Jade broke down. Tears started running down her face and loud, pitiful sobs escaped her mouth. Beck simply wrapped his arms around her, and rocked her gently back and forth. He also ran his hand over her bump several times, not only to comfort her, but also to to prove to himself that the baby was really ok. Slowly, Jade's sobs turned into soft whimpers, and then no real noise. Her tears eventually dried up, leaving tear streaks on her face through her foundation.
"Now, why were you crying? The nurse said the baby's fine." Beck was trying to figure out what made her cry. The baby was fine.
"Because what if the baby hadn't been fine, Beck? What if the baby had died? Then it would be my fault. My job as a mother is to protect our baby. If I can't even keep them safe inside of me, then how bad of a mother will I be once they're born?" Jade blamed herself for what had happened. She was supposed to keep their baby safe. She felt like she had failed not only herself, but Beck and the baby as well. She also felt like she was proving her mother right.
"Baby, this isn't your fault. This isn't anyone's fault. These things just happen. The important thing to remember is that our baby is ok. You're ok, or at least you will be. Everything is ok."
Jade sighed. While Beck's words did bring her comfort, she was still mad at herself.
About 15 minutes after the nurse left, the doctor came in. Jade was hoping it would be her doctor, but it wasn't. It was a woman who looked to be in her 60s. She was wearing a white coat and ugly pink scrubs underneath. Jade assumed she was the on call doctor. It was already 10pm, so her doctor had probably left.
"Hi, Miss West. My name is Dr. Riley Parker. I'm the on call doctor for the L&D ward. So, as I see in your chart, you're 34 for weeks pregnant with your first baby?"
Jade nodded.
"And you came in with some vaginal bleeding. How long along did this start and has it happened before?"
"Um, we were at our friend's house and when I used the bathroom, I noticed I was bleeding. I guess it started around 9:00. I'm not exactly sure how long I was bleeding before I went to the bathroom. And no, this hasn't happened before. The last time I had any bleeding was around 6 weeks. My doctor told me it was implantation bleeding, and I didn't need to worry about it." Jade explained.
"Ok, and how has your pregnancy been? Easy? Hard? Have you had any complications?"
"Well, I had morning sickness until the second week of my second trimester. It's been mostly easy. I've been getting some Braxton Hicks for the past couple of weeks, and my heartburn is getting worse. I've also been getting some pretty painful leg cramps. Actually, last night, I barely slept because I was having horrible heartburn and leg cramps. When I woke up this morning, I was nauseous. I threw up my breakfast. The nausea went away around noon, and I was fine until around 7. When we drove over to our friend's house, the car ride made me nauseous. Once we got to her house, the smell of the pizza made me throw up."
"Ok. Have you ever had any dizzy spells? Even felt light headed? Headaches?"
Jade looked over at Beck. She hadn't told him about the times she'd gotten dizzy. She didn't want him to worry.
"Uh, yeah. I find myself getting dizzy sometime. Sometimes, when I haven't eaten in awhile, I get light headed. And just for the past month, I've been getting 3 or 4 headaches a week." She admitted, earning a questioning look from Beck.
"Ok. It seems that you have preeclampsia. Your blood pressure is higher than it should be. The dizziness, lightheadedness, and headaches are all symptoms. The nausea today was most likely a fluke, but nausea is also a symptom. Vaginal bleeding is more rare, but can occur when the baby is in distress. I'm going to draw some blood to rule out any other conditions. Then the nurse will come in and start an IV. Most likely, within the next few hours, you will be taken up to L&D for further monitoring."
"How long will I have to stay here?"
"We will for sure keep you over night, for monitoring. If your blood is lower by tomorrow, and everything seems fine, we'll send you home probably by the mid-afternoon. When you go home, bed rest for the next few weeks will most likely be your best option."
"Ok. Thank you, doctor."
"Just hang in there. The nurse will be I soon. She'll draw your blood and then start an IV."
The doctor left the room, leaving Beck and Jade alone again.
"Why didn't you tell me about the dizziness and the headaches?" Beck asked.
"Because I thought it was normal. I thought they were just normal pregnancy symptoms." Jade felt kind of guilty now that she'd found out those were not just normal symptoms. She should've told her doctor when they first started happening.
Beck didn't know what to say. He couldn't help but feel a small sense of anger. He was angry that Jade hadn't told him. Had she not trusted him enough? Even his his feeling of anger, he still sympathized with her and decided hugging her would calm both of them.
About 15 minutes after the doctor left, a nurse came in. It was a different nurse, a younger one. She looked much more cheery and less experienced.
"Hi, Miss West. My name is Nurse Paisley. I'm gonna draw some blood for the doctor and then give you an IV." The perky nurse said, as she sat down in a chair on wheels next to the hospital bed. "First, though, I'm going to put this on you." She held up something that had been sitting on the table near the bed. "This is a fetal monitor. It wraps around your stomach. This circular piece goes over the spot where the baby's heart is. It'll monitor your baby's heart rate. If this machine starts beeping, don't be alarmed. If the baby moves away from the monitor, the machine will start beeping. It doesn't necessarily mean your baby's in danger."
Jade simply nodded her head. The nurse then fitted the monitor around Jade's bump. The room then filled with the whooshing of the baby's heart. The nurse turned to a machine near the bed and turned down a dial. The whooshing became quieter, and just a bit of white noise. Once the nurse secured the monitor, she sat back down next to Jade and instructed her to roll up her shirt sleeve. Jade did was she told. The nurse wrapped a blue piece of stretchy rubber around Jade's arm, right above her inner elbow.
"Ok, you might feel a pinch. When I tell you, I need you to clench your first. It'll help distend your vein so I can find it easier. When the needle is your arm, you need to keep your arm still."
The nurse prepped Jade's skin with an alcohol pad. She instructed Jade's to clench her first, and then inserted the hollow needle into Jade's vein. She pushed on the piece of plastic connected to the needle. Almost instantaneously, Jade's blood started filling the vial. Beck had to look away from Jade, seeing how blood made him queasy, but Jade just stared in fascination. Jade had only gotten her blood drawn once before. It was about 8 months ago. Her doctor had drawn some blood to make sure she was actually pregnant.
And then, almost as quickly as it had begun, it was over. The nurse took the needle out of Jade's arm, instructed Jade to hold a piece of gauze over the small wound, and then placed the vial on her try. She untied the blue rubber and took it off of Jade's arms. She then took the gauze from Jade. She replaced the gauze with another alcohol pad. She rubbed it over the small wound, and then taped the gauze over it with some medical tape.
The nurse then started prepping the IV. She explained the process of the IV to Jade. It was similar to the procedure that had just been done. Once the nurse placed the IV in Jade's left hand, she taped down the cannula. She then hung a connected bag of saline on the IV pole.
"Ok, an orderly should come in soon to take you up to a room in the L&D ward. You will need to change into the hospital gown that over there. You can keep your under garments on, but your pants and shirt need to come off. If you start to feel any pain or you need anything, you can press that button that's on the side of the bed." The nurse instructed. She then picked up her tray and walked out of the room.
"Beck, can you get the gown for me?" Jade asked, a few moments after the nurse left. The hospital gown was sitting on the table opposite of the bed and Jade really didn't want get up.
Beck got up and retrieved the gown. He handed it to Jade and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
"I'm gonna go call my parents and our friends. I'm gonna tell my parents what's going on and give them an update. I'll be back soon." Beck said. He really did want to update everyone on how the baby and Jade were doing, but he also wanted to give her some space and privacy to change into the gown. He also couldn't help the feeling of needing space away from her. His emotions were just all over the place that night, and rightfully so.
Jade mumbled an "ok" as she watched him leave. Jade slowly got up from the bed and took her pants off. She was in the middle of taking her shirt off when she realized she couldn't get her left sleeve off. The IV tube was connected to her hand and she would have to take the IV bag off the pole and feed it through her sleeve to properly remove her shirt. Jade had no other choice than to press the call button and wait for a nurse to help her. Jade sat down on the bed while she waited. She ran her gently gently over the top of her bump and felt a small kick from the baby. She secretly loved feeling the baby move inside of her, but she'd never told Beck or anyone.
About 5 minutes after Jade presses the call button, a nurse knocked on the door and then walked in. It was the first nurse that had taken her into triage.
"Is there something I can help you with, Miss West?" The nurse asked.
"Uh, the other nurse told me to put on the hospital gown, but I can't get my shirt off because of the IV connected to my hand." Jade said, trying to swallow her embarrassment.
"You should've been told to put the gown on before. It's honestly my bad." The nurse said, as she sat down beside Jade. "I'm going to take the IV out. I'll put it back I once you're dressed." The nurse quickly removed the IV, but left the cannula in Jade's hand. Jade then slipped her shirt the rest of the way off and put on the gown. The nurse helped Jade with the ties of the gown and then instructed Jade to sit down again. The nurse replaced Jade's IV with a new, sterile one, and then left.
Jade was soon alone with only her unborn child and her thoughts. She would've much rather done without the latter, though. Her thoughts were running wild. She couldn't stop thinking about the many ways things could've gone much worse with the baby and with her. She also couldn't bury her feelings of guilt and shame. It would've been her fault if something had happened to the baby. She was supposed to protect the baby. The baby wasn't even born yet and she'd already failed them. She'd be a terrible mother.
Suddenly, the room felt like it was closing in on Jade. The temperature in the room felt like it shot up to 100 degrees. She noticed her breathing had quickened and her chest felt tight. She was clawing at her arm, trying to get herself to stop feeling what she was. She was having a panic attack. About 10 minutes in, Beck came back into the room and saw Jade. Her arm was an angry red color and she had streaks of blood running down it. She had tears streaming down her face, further ruining her makeup. Not knowing what else to do, Beck just wrapped his arms around Jade and murmured some words of encouragement. About 10 minutes later, she'd finally started to calm down.
"What happened, Jade? Why were you having a panic attack?" Beck asked, trying to be as calm as possible. He didn't want to trigger another attack.
Jade took a couple deep breaths before answering his question. How the hell was she supposed to tell him she thinks they're making a mistake by becoming parents?
"I can't do this, Beck. I can't be a mom."
Beck didn't say anything for what felt like an eternity, but was really only about a minute. How was he supposed to respond to that statement? For the past 30 weeks or so, Beck and Jade had been preparing for become parents. They'd found an apartment together, bought all of the babies things, figured out who their baby's pediatrician was going to be, they were in the process of figuring out how their senior year was going to work. They'd done so many things, and now Jade was saying she didn't want to be a mom. That was a decision that should've been made back in the first trimester. 34 weeks pregnant and having a baby in a month was a little late to be deciding you don't even want the baby.
"Then what the hell are we doing? Why did we move in together and buy all those baby clothes and toys, huh? What was the point? You told me that you wanted to do this. I told you I wanted to do this. We both said we wanted to be parents. Jade, you're 34 weeks pregnant. It's a little late to say you don't want the baby." Beck was mad, to say the least.
"I don't know, Beck. I thought I wanted to be a mom. I thought I wanted us to have this baby, but now, I don't think I can. I can't even keep the baby safe when it's inside of me, how them hell am I supposed to keep them safe when they're out in the world it's real dangers? Maybe my mom was right. Maybe we're just too young."
"Maybe you're too young, and you're not ready, but I am. There's no way I'm letting you give my baby away to some stranger." Beck couldn't believe her. She'd been the one most on board for the whole baby thing since the very beginning.
"How the hell are you gonna raise a baby on your own at 17, huh?"
"It doesn't really matter because it's not your business."
"Not my business? I'm the one who's carried this baby for the past 8 and a half months. I'm the one who's been through the nausea and the cravings and the heartburn and the late night leg cramps and the kicks to the ribs and everything. I'm the one who has to push this baby out of my body. You really believe you have the audacity to tell me it's not my business?" Jade was now getting mad. Who the hell did Beck think he was?
"You're the one who's saying you don't want a baby! If you don't want to be in their life, then I really don't see how it's any of your business how I take care of them."
"I really can't deal with this right now, Beck. Can you please just leave?" This was Jade's way of running from her problems. She would've left if she could, but she had to stay in the hospital.
"I'm not leaving. I know that asking me to leave if your way of running away. We're having this conversation, Jade. Right here, right now."
"I don't understand why you're so on board with parenting this child all of a sudden. You were the one who didn't even want to have a baby. You never actually said it, but I knew for the first 20 weeks or so, you were still hoping we'd decide adoption was for us. You were hoping we'd give our baby away to some stranger. Why the hell are you so on board with it now?"
"Because it's been 14 weeks, Jade! I've had 14 weeks to decide that I want this baby. I want father this baby. I want to be one of the last things this baby sees when they fall asleep and one of the first things they see when they wake up. I want this baby first word to be Dada. I want this baby to hold my fingers and take their first steps. I want to see them off on their first day of school and be there to pick them up. I've had 14 weeks to decide that I want this baby more than anything in the world."
"Then, I think we should break up. I really can't do this, Beck. I thought I could, at first, but now, I don't know. I don't want to do this if I'm not 100% sure."
"And there you go again. You're just running away from yet another problem."
Jade knew he was right. She was running away. She didn't want to face her problems head on so she was trying ever way she knew to avoid them. She really didn't want to break up with Beck; she loved him. He truly was the love of her life, but she couldn't have a baby with him. They weren't ready. They weren't in seniors in high school. They're just too young.
"I'll move all my stuff out once I get out of here. I'm going move back in with my mom." Jade decided to be persistent with the whole 'let's break up' thing.
"First of all, if you were to move out, how are you going to move back in with your mom? You two have become estranged. You haven't spoken in months. Second of all, you're not moving out. Our apartment is exactly that; our apartment. I'll just sleep on the couch or use a blanket and pillow of the floor of the nursery. I don't really care what I have to do, but there's no way I'm letting you move out."
"Last time I checked, you don't control me. If I want to move out, I'll move out."
Beck really didn't know how he was going to win this argument. He decided to resort to begging her.
"Jade, please just stay. I love you. I want us to work this out. I really don't want to break up again. This time, it would be a lot more complicated. Please just don't go."
Jade sighed. She was really done talking about everything.
"If I say I'll think about it, will you leave? I really just want to be alone."
"So you can escape the hospital and run away with our baby? Fat chance."
"How crazy do you think I am?"
"I know you're not crazy, but you have a stubborn persistence when it comes to things you've set your heart on. I can't be so sure that you want run away."
"I'm just so done with people tonight, Beck. Just please leave."
"No, I'm not leaving."
Jade was about to say something else when an orderly walked in. He transported Jade up to her L&D room. He asked if there was anything he could do for her, and once given a response of "no", he left.
Jade and Beck decided to stop arguing for the night. They'd definitely argue more tomorrow, but tomorrow is tomorrow. For that day, they were done.
A/N: An extra long chapter :)
