This takes place sometime in season two of Star Wars Rebels. It will allude to events that take place in the final two seasons, but nothing will be explicitly stated. If you haven't seen the whole show, and don't know how it ends, you have been warned.
The Ghost crew are all gathered in the cockpit. Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus and Captain Hera Syndulla sit in the co-pilot and pilot seats respectively. Garazeb Orrelios, or Zeb, leans back in his seat directly behind the pilots, and Sabine sits in the chair behind Kanan. Against the back wall, near the door, spymaster Ahsoka Tano and Jedi Padawan Ezra Bridger lean against the walls. Racing back and forth in the aisle between the seats is their grumpy Droid, Chopper.
The small band of rebels are discussing their plans on how to aquire the information on the Galactic Empires newest weapons system. The plan they have created is far from perfect, with to many ways for it to go sideways.
"I'm just not sure entering here," Kanan says, pointing at the hologram of the Star Destroyer before him, "is our best option. It might be better if we–" The Jedi Knight is cut off by a wheezing, groaning sound coming from the common area.
Immediately all members of the Ghost crew, including Fulcrum, are on their feet, racing toward the noise. They enter the common room to find nothing amiss. Slowly, and monotonously, Ezra begins to open each of the supply closets. He reaches one of the last ones, and as the door opens with a whoosh, they find, standing on the other side is a man in a bowtie with a Stormtrooper helmet pulled over his head, and what seems to be a fez balanced on top. As the door retracts into the wall, the stranger falls face first towards the ground. Before the man can hit the hard metal flooring, Zeb grabs him by the back of his tweed jacket.
"Oi!" The man's muffled voice comes through the helmet, his arms pinwheeling around his gangly figure, "Watch the tweed!"
The Lasat growls at the intruder, "Who are you?"
The stranger takes his flailing arms up to his head, removing the headgear, placing the fez atop his floppy hair, "I'm the Doctor," he says, straightening his bowtie.
"Set him down, Zeb," Kanan says, smiling at the Time Lord, "What brings you to our edge of the galaxy, Doctor?"
A smile spreads across the Gallifreyans features, "Caleb!" He cries, "I may have accidentally stumbled inside an Imperial Star Destroyer. Once I realized where I was, I thought, what the heck, and hacked into one of the Empires astromech droids, and managed to retrieve this," he holds out a datacard, "I thought it might help your rebellion."
"Only you could accidentally land on a Star Destroyer."
"'Soka!" he shouts, pulling the Togruta into a warm embrace, "If it isn't my two favourite Jedi!" Realizing what he said, he leans toward Ahsoka's ear, whispering, "Don't tell Obi-Wan, or Yoda, I said that."
Ahsoka sadly smiles, but, before she can say anything else, Chopper comes barreling through to the front of the group. He beeps and whirs to the Time Lord.
"Whoa, slow down, Chop, you know I can't understand you when you babble." The droid proceeds to spew the noises at a slower pace. "Whoa, language! Who taught you that word... Actually, don't tell me, I don't want to know. Of course I missed you too, you little rascal." Chopper happily bumps into the Doctor's claves, and the Gallifreyan, in turn, affectionately pats his dome.
Looking around, he sees Hera, "Captain Syndulla, I should've known that where Chopper is, you couldn't be far behind." The Oncoming Storm pulls the Twi'lek into a hug.
"It's always good to see you, Doctor. But, why are you smouldering?"
"Oh, y'know, the Stormtroopers shot at me. They missed, of course. They're all terrible shots, couldn't hit the broad side of a barn if it was two feet in front of them."
Before anyone can confirm the Time Lord is truly okay, Ezra shouts, "Hang on, who is this guy?"
"I told you, I'm the Doctor."
"Thanks, that means absolutely nothing. How does everyone know this guy?"
"He assisted Master Kenobi, my Master, and myself on one of our missions during the Clone Wars. Saved our lives at least twice."
"I met him shortly after Order 66, he helped me get away from some Imperials. If it wasn't for this guy, someone would've executed me a long time ago."
"I bumped into him shortly after one of my first missions in the rebellion, before I even met Kanan. I had just saved Chopper from a downed ship, and he helped me to reassemble him. I've managed to run into him a couple of times after that."
"Oh, so you're to blame for Chopper then." The droid pops his electroshock prod arm out, rolling right for the Lasat.
"Chopper, stop!" The Doctor says, firmly. Slowly the C-1 astromech retracts his prod, and turns away shamefully. The eyes of everyone, buy Hera, widen in surprise, because the droid often neglects to listen to orders. Ignoring the shocked crew, the Gallifreyan turns to the Twi'lek, "Could you possibly introduce me to the rest of your crew, Captain?"
"Oh, or course, this is Garazeb Orrelios, or Zeb, from the planet Lasan."
"Pleasure to meet you, Zeb." The Last Child of Gallifrey greets.
"Sabine Wren, from Mandalore."
"I knew a Mandalorian once, his name was Din Djarin, terribly into violence, we didn't exactly agree... Sorry, I'm rambling, you seem to have a very colourful personality." Sabine smiles at the old wanderer.
"And this is Kanan's Padawan, Ezra Bridger." The Doctor gives the Lothal teen a sad smile, knowing how his story ends, also trying to figure out who Kanan is. "I've heard that you collect these," the Gallifreyan says, holding the helmet out to the Padawan.
"Woah, I never managed to snag one of these. Those Troopers hardly ever leave the Star Destroyers."
The Time Lord offers a grandiose smile to each of the Rebels. He of course knows each and every one of their futures. The Last Child of Gallifrey knows what happens to Caleb and Ahsoka on Malachor. He knows what happens to the Jedi Knight later at the Imperial base. He looks across each of their hopeful faces.
"Doctor, you time-travel, can you tell us if this is all worth it? Do we beat the Empire and save the galaxy?"
"Caleb, there are rules of time, just like there are rules to being a Jedi. If I reveal your futures to you, you might change them, destroying the natural balance of the universe."
The Togruta looks sadly down at the floors, "We understand."
"I will say this. Look out for each other. All of you, you're stronger together. Stick together, and you just might defeat the Empire." One by one each rebel looks to each other and smiles. "Trust one another. If you can't trust you're crew, who can you trust? And, whatever you do, don't give up hope,a new hope will emerge." He turns back to his blue box, opening the doors with a snap of his fingers.
"Doctor," Kanan calls to the lonely god, "May the force be with you, always."
"And with you as well, Caleb Dume, Ahsoka Tano, Hera Syndulla, Garazeb Orrelios, Sabine Wren, and Ezra Bridger," the Time Lord nods at each person as he says their name, "Keep fighting the good fight." Once more, the Last Child of Gallifrey pats Choppers head, crouching before the astromech, "You have my contact information if you ever need me," he reminds the droid. He turns and enter his big, blue box.
The Ghost crew watches as the box dematerializes. "Chop," Hera says, inserting the datacard into the astromech, "what did the Doctor steal from the Empire?" The droid scans the card, before happily informing the rebels that the Time Lord managed to gather all the information that they were gearing up to steal.
"That's all great," Ezra says, happy that no one form his family will be in danger, "I just have one question, who's Caleb Dume?"
Zeb grumbles something, heading back to his bunk. Sabine leaves to go do some grafitti. Ahsoka just laughs, heading to the cockpit. Hera proceeds to follow Fulcrum, but hesitates a minute to says to Kanan, "He's your Padawan." Chopper follows the Twi'lek. Kanan sighs, trying to think of a good way to tell the boy.
